Breakfast was decent - service was great and welcoming. The elevator wait at check in and check out. Decided to just walk it down the stairs in a few trips rather than wait 20 minutes. Luckily we had the choice being on the second level. Need larger or more elevators.
Pool for kids, full breakfast and convenient location The rooms need attention. Our room counter over the fridge had a huge crack. Really tacky and disappointing for Embassy to rent out a room with that kind of an eyesore. I've been staying at Embassy off and on for the past almost 20 years in various locations and for the most part you can expect nice rooms with a good breakfast. This time I just chalked it up to an exception and not the rule.

Convenient location with a nice river walk trail and park nearby - great for walking with kids. Lobby areas were great. Nice areas for breakfast, happy hour and meeting up with groups. Staff was very helpful and nice. Bed and furniture was comfortable. Little kitchenette was great. Unadvertised parking fee Rooms could use a fresh coat of paint and change of curtains. Hallways and rooms were outdated. Also a deep cleaning would be good of the rooms and the balcony patio areas
I brought 3 teens along on a work trip and they were Happy with everything – the indoor pool, pool table, snacks, breakfast evening reception etc. having two rooms. was so much easier for us and everything was great!
Breakfast and evening reception were good One of the elevators was out of service all week, which made getting to and from our room a very long process. Also, if we had known that the hotel was going to be overrun by Portuguese Water Dogs the entire week, we wouldn't have stayed there.
We stayed one night, checking in on MLK Jr day, after the long weekend crowd was gone so it was really nice and quiet. The check in staff was pleasant, as were the staff in the dining area for both the afternoon snack and breakfast. There were no crowds or line for breakfast (or elevators!), we more or less had the pool to ourselves... just downright pleasant. This was night and day different from when we stayed last year DURING the long weekend, which was pure chaos and packed with people everywhere you turned. While clean, the rooms could use some general updating.
Friendy, helpful, knowledgeable staff who remembered my name hours after check in. Atrium architecture is nice. There was a wedding going on on the atrium when I arrived. Good, convenient, complimentary breakfast.

NIce room. The suite was comfortable. The full service breakfast was above average. An unadvertised parking fee of $10, even for Hilton Honors members. The keys did not work, resulting in an inconvenient trip down to the front desk, and then only one of the two keys worked. The biggest issue, however is the way we were treated at checkout. We were told that there was an additional $20 to be charged to our card. When we asked why, we were told that it was for food ordered the evening before. We told them that we absolutely did not order any food. Nevertheless, we were made to stand there while the checkout person went to get all the receipts from the restaurant for the night before, and then went through them, twice. Finally she found the ticket, which was for a different room. The customer had put our room number on the ticket. It appeared to me that she still didn't believe us, even though the ticket was clearly for a different room number. My feeling was that she was never told that the customer's care is important. If we said we didn't order any food, then they should complete the checkout, and send us on our way. They could then search for the problem. They could then have charged the correct customer, and if it was somehow their mistake, they should have written off the $20. We received no apology for making us wait, and no follow up. Though I generally like Embassy Suites, I would not stay at this one again.

The staff at the front desk (lady) was very friendly and made everything easy for early check in. Room was clean and walls a bit thicker than other places we've stayed in. Was closw to multiple stores and restaurants. Parking was a hassle, not enought near our room due to muliple cars for one room near us.
Considering the prices of accommodation in the area, Discovery Inn was completely reasonable for the money paid. It was simple, clean, had a free parking lot, and was not far outside of Monterey. If I were passing through again and wanted a budget hotel, I would have no issue staying here a second time. Management was fine-- for those people who have any issues, I'm sure they'd find that smiling first goes a long way. It was quite chilly at night and I would recommend bringing an extra blanket since those on the bed were rather thin (although there is a heater as well). I didn't hear noises from any neighboring rooms, but sound travels inside from the parking lot easily, so keep your fingers crossed that you don't have other inconsiderate guests that find it appropriate to yell in the parking lot at 2 am.

The room was exceptionally clean! The room and the bathroom were large and the amenities were nice. For the price, with was great. It was pretty close to a bus station. For the price, I can't complain. The fridge was unplugged so it was warm. If you're going to need it, you'll need to plug it in ahead of time. The breakfast was very basic. All this is no big deal. The only really bad part was that the walls are paper thin. Like I could hear very clearly the conversation in the next room and anyone outside.
The location was convenient for a conference I was attending and the price is considerably cheaper than the conference hotel. The value is good if you need to save money. But you can't expect any luxuries. It is a very basic motel with a TV and small refrigerator. However, the wifi worked well and the speeds were good. The nights in February are quite cold and the heat dissipates quite fast, so you must leave the noisy wall heater on all night. Forced air tends to dry out my throat and make it sore the next day, so I was reluctant to leave it running. One thin blanket is not warm enough. I had to get up in the middle of the night and put on an extra layer of clothes and socks to get warm again. We asked for an extra blanket in the manager's native tongue and were fortunate to get a blanket for each person (staying in different rooms).

Reasonably priced, everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The woman in the office was kinda condescending at first and thought I wasn't old enough to be renting a room. I'm turning 30 very soon though so I'll take that as a compliment let it slide. She was very nice the next morning.
Location is easy to find and access, about 5 minutes off the freeway and 15 minutes from the aquarium and wharf. Hotel is all single story rooms for easy access. Room was clean and bed was ok. Hotell needs a bit of repair. The ice machine did not work and in our room the TV remove did not work and the toilet was loose.

The hotel was advertised as having free wireless throughout- this was certainly not the case! This having been a factor of me booking there made my stay far less than satisfactory!!! Unfortunately I wasunable to find alternate accomodation as the whole area was full due to the us open golf! Hence the inflated room rate!
I liked how it was a short drive from Cannery Row. There was a good amount of parking available for guests. The breakfast options that they served were limited. The mini bagels looked like they were stale and old.
The office staff was extremely nice. The rooms where gross. The carpet has dirty and strained, I made the mistake of touching it 1x and it felt damp. The beds were horrible to sleep on. The bathroom was also gross. The shower curtain was stained. The toilet water never stopped running. The shower looked like it had mold. The rooms had thino walls and you can hear EVERYTHING going on outside. I used one of their towels at night to clean my face and woke up with PINK eye!!!!
The only decent thing about this terrible hotel was the breakfast. The rest, simply terrible! When we got to the hotel room, there was a towel on the floor of the bathroom, we didn't know if it was clean or not so we just moved it to the corner and left it there. Obviously that wasn't suppose to be there. Then, when I tried to wash my hands, the sink wasn't working. We told the receptionist ans she said she would change us to a different room. Then she said there were no more rooms available with 2 beds, so she was calling someone to fix it. We were getting ready to have dinner so we told her we didn't want anyone in the room while we were out. Every time we wanted to wash our hands, face or brush our teeth, we had to use the shower. Totally inconvenient! The fridge was so dirty, that we couldn't put anything inside of it because it was just gross. The curtains of the window were disgusting, yellowish and brownish stains all over them. I couldn't touch them. The shower curtain was so thin that the water would get everywhere and it was a mess to dry it! and we found hair in the bath tub. When I asked the receptionist for a discount or some kind of solution for the inconveniences she just gave us a $22 discount claiming it was 'all she could do'. to When we check out, there was no one in the front desk. We waited for 15 minutes till a lady showed up apologizing for the time we waited. Little did she know that we saw her smoking in one of the cars parked in the hotel, with really loud music. I was so upset that I ironically asked her 'taking a break?' and she laughed. We had the terrible luck to forget a towel that belonged to my friend and I forget my jacket (a nice one). It was a pain in the *ss to recover it. I called the same night we checked out and they told me to call again the next day. When I did, the receptionist told me to call in the afternoon because the cleaning lady only spoke Spanish and she was't able to communicate with her. I told her that I speak Spanish so she could put the cleaning lady on the phone for me to talk to her. The lady told me she found boththings was going to leave everything at the front desk for them to take care of it. The receptionist told me she would take care of it (of course I payed for the shipping). The next day my husband called asking if they shipped the stuff, they said they had the jacket but not the towel of my friend (my husband asked them how was that possible if the cleaning lady said she found both and the front desk had them) The only answer he got was 'we have the jacket and that's it'. Then my husband gave them the info of my credit card (even though they had it) and she promised to take care of it that same day. It took them 2 WEEKS to finally ship my jacket. 2 weeks we called them every day!! They even lied to us and said they shipped it when they didn't!! They are just incredibly incompetent and lazy! I will never stay there again. You get what you pay for. Terrible hotel and staff.
The maids did a nice job of keeping the room clean This hotel was completely misrepresented on your site. We thought we were booking a Best Western standard hotel, but instead, all of the Besst Western logos had been removed. The hotel run down and the worst part was the room was cold and the heat was not working. There was a very old small space heater in the room that only heated part of the room and was dangerous.
The hotel staff were very accommodating, and pleasant. The pool was heated and the location is nicely away from the bustle of downtown Monterey, but close enough to commute quickly. The furnishings were lovely. The carpet in the first room we stayed in needed to be replaced as it was worn and stained. The screen door, sliding door and the curtain string all broke when I tried to use them and our first room didn't have internet access. After being transferred to a room with new carpet and internet access, we were well satisfied. Both rooms could use a paint job though. Altogether a good value for the price.
The location was great. The room was clean. The room phone kept ringing even though nobody was calling. The breakfast was not that good and did not start until 7:30am which felt late.
There was very little water pressure from the shower. Also the heater thermostat did not work. We set it at 80 we were freezing and went to bed, when we woke up the heater never kicked on but the ceiling fan did? So weird

I liked the outdoor area. There is a large pool, hot tub, games, and communal fire pit that was a lot of fun. I really dislike the bed covers. You are either way too hot or freezing. What happened to old-fashioned blankets?
Checking in was not only expedient but flawless. Had no issues at all, was in my room within 10 minutes of pulling up to the front door. Room was excellent and I do suggest the pool view.
We enjoyed the recently updated rooms including the very nice bathroom with vanity and open shower. We enjoyed very tasty room service meals (dinner and breakfast). We also used the pool which was pleasantly warm. The toilet was a bit of a tight fit with walls on either side. The air conditioner was a standing machine which had an exhaust that was separated form the back and until we reattached it poured hot exhaust over the air-conditioning.
Everyone from the front desk staff, the servers and bartenders, and the housekeepers did an amazing job. I work in the service industry in a casino/resort, and yet I experienced better service and a better experience with the staff at the Hyatt than where I work. A+++. The only things I didn't like had nothing to do with the hotel and its staff. It isn't located downtown, so it is a very short trek to the festivities in town. Also, it sounded like a large man was doing burpees in the room above us.
My wife and I live on east coast and celebrated our 25th anniversary in California. We stayed at a Hyatt in 3 out of the 4 cities we spent time in. We started with the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco for 4 nights which was fantastic! We then stayed here at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey which was not what we expected. We upgraded to a room facing the golf course. The view decent. The staff were very friendly. The location is good if you're a golfer. Otherwise, I would rather be closer to the beach. My primary complaint was the lack of central AC. I don't know if all rooms are setup this way but our room had a portable air conditioner. It does the job to cool the room but it is extremely loud and the compressor kicked on and off all night. If you can sleep in 72 degrees, you won't have a problem. If you are like my wife and I and like it 67-69 degrees, you may want to consider another hotel. It has a huge impact on a good night's sleep which is the main purpose for renting a hotel in the first place.

Very nice grounds. Facility and staff were very nice. Rooms look nice but not very functional. Modern hand shower makes a mess and not easy to use. Indoor free standing A.C. unit is needed but is as loud as a train. Closet door won't stay shut. Ceiling fan wobbles and makes noise. Soda machines were down. Stupid small things that could be easily fixed.

Very clean & well appointed. Nice live evening music. Convenient peet's coffee on premises. Nice outdoor firepit and beautiful "plaza area" / patio for all to use....very open-air views of the bay. Spa facilities did not accomodate the numbers of people using, it very well. Overall,hotel was a bit over the top for our needs, and I hate always having to figure out tips without feeling like a cheapskate, but I guess that's just part of "high livin". On the whole ,staff was extremely understanding & accommodating of a few problems that arose and were more than fair in resolving them.

Rooms are beautiful. Vanity makeup area to get ready in, and spacious shower. Bed was extremely comfortable, almost the same as my bed from home. Staff had superb customer service skills and went above and beyond to make our stay easier. Rooftop sun deck gives amazing views down the coast from a jacuzzi! Would definitely come back again. Nothing!
Very nice decor in room and everywhere. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice view of Monterey Bay from lobby and lower level lounge. WI-FI is free and works well. Expensive! Breakfast not included, 10% extra tax, and $25 extra for 2 queen beds instead of the default 1 king size bed. Only one night table. Parking is valet only, front bumper came back with a dent. I prefer to self-park. Getting my car back took 10 to 30 minutes. Driver expects to get a tip each time. There is a spa but it is not free. Someone placed a couple of calls from our room, I had to prove they were not mine.
This place is amazing. Although ostensibly it doesn't look over the top, it is a quietly classy place. Our receptionist, Tiana, helped us throughout our stay and she is the sweetest and most accommodating representative (although everyone we met just went over the top, from the concierge to the bellhops to Ryan the cars concierge). The rooms are huge. They easily fit all of the stuff for our 8 month old with tons of room to spare. His packnplay was no issue at all. Everything is very clean and it was quiet and relaxing. We ordered room service , and it was pricey as expected, but the food was DELICIOUS! I doubt we would have found better food elsewhere - the crab cake Eggs Benny was delicious! We checked out and had our car brought around (valet parking is surprisingly included in the resort fee) and Ryan, our car concierge , told us if sightseeing (we were headed to the aquarium), to feel free to leave the car there, no problem, till 5. That was really nice and we did not have to worry about parking. Overall this is right on the end of cannery row and is apparently about a 10 minute walk from Fisherman's Wharf as well (we didn't have a chance to get down there). You can't beat the location, the customer service, or the amenities here. We would only stay here when coming back. Thank you!! Nothing!

We love the Portillo but the construction is very distracting. We come about once a year and last year it was complete distraction as well. The room we got this trip was so noisy. We could hear everyone walking by yelling and screaming in the middle of the night. I wish we had staying in the main building. Everything else was oerfect! We love the portola... we will visit again even tho this wasn't the best of visits.
I liked the overall comfort of the hotel. I did not like the service. I asked for a bellhop to help take my bags to the car. I waited for about 25 minutes and decided to take the bags myself.
Close to everything downtown and you're right next to Fisherman's Wharf. Staff were professional and very accommodating. Spa services were great. Construction was going on outside for their conference center so you have to walk around it a little bit but inside you couldn't hear it from where I was staying along Pacific Street.

The hotel is a short walk to the pier. There is a lot of construction around the hotel, which makes things loud and busy. We had to wait until after 5 to check in ad still didn't get what we had asked for. There was a large convention there and basically the staff told us that they couldn't do anything to accommodate us. We ended up with a room on a VERY busy street and a toilet paper rack that kept falling on the ground. I was really looking forward to this hotel and was disappointed.
Hotel was under construction. It was loud and not the least bit relaxing. We were woken up in the middle of the night by drunks cursing in the plaza area. The carpet in the room was stained. The power went out multiple times and I had one family member get stuck in the elevator. The staff was friendly but my experience overall was not pleasant.
Shards of glass on the room floor; freezing temperature when we walked into the room (heater was not on); once heater was turned on, had little to no effect, so we slept in bathrobes and ordered two extra blankets. Hotel is currently under major renovation, so the check-in feels like a motel and there is no entry lobby.
We paid 150 plus 20 to park. I am at peace with it. Recommended. 20 additional to park...cmon.

This was a great location within walking distance of phenomenal dining and wine tasting rooms. Room was exceptional, the service excellent and the spa personnel accommodating. First deep tissue massage I ever tapped out for a slightly lesser pressure. We will return over and over again. You have to stay here when in Monterrey! Nothing
Lovely location right in the heart of Cannery Row and on the waterfront. This is not an inexpensive hotel but let's face it this is an InterContinental brand not a Motel 6. If you want to splurge this is a good choice however if you don't need a waterfront view and stay in the connected bldg. across the street you can get a room with a fireplace for less. I found this hotel to be relaxing and the staff helpful. Even without a waterfront room they have a large deck area looking out into Monterey Bay where you can sit in front of a fire pit with your friends or by yourself and sip your favorite beverage and enjoy the view and some down time from busy Cannery Row.
The location It was no better than a holiday express, but much more expensive. Beds were miserably uncomfortable.

Friendly staff I thought booking a hotel right next to the water that I could be hearing waves in the tranquility of the evening. Instead I hear cars and foot traffic because our room is all the way back and faces the garage. This hotel was almost three times the cost of any equivalent hotel if it wasn't next to the waves I didn't get to hear.

You can't beat the location- just a block away from the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and right on Cannery Row. Staff was all very nice and the facilities were top notch. The restaurant was not pricey and not very good. This is a small complaint, as the view was outstanding and there are plenty of better places to eat within easy walking distance. Would have been nice if wifi was included with room.
Liked how we could purchase 2 day aquarium tickets for the same price. That was very convenient. I didn't need a mini bar in he room. But would of liked a microwave and mini fridge.
the property was nice, and appearance above average. The location was excellent, and adjacent to the historical downtown and the wharf. A mile to the aquarium. My concerns were with continental breakfast, which was included, and very inferior, with stale croissants, etc. also stingy with towels and linens in room. Silly.
The grounds are very unique and allow for areas to relax outside. It is also close to Fisherman's Warf and the downtown area. I didn't like the fact that I kept finding items left by the previous guest in to room (i.e. wrappers, tags, debris, etc.). For what was charged, I would have expected more for breakfast. A Holiday Inn Express has a more comprehensive breakfast.

We were pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous room that featured high vaulted wooden cross-hatched ceilings, a romantic fireplace and balcony, two showers, a comfy couch with huge wall mounted tv, and a cute little kitchenette/dining area. It was super close to the wharf which is a huge plus. They charged me for the bottle of water I took in the fridge so be careful. It's a trap!

Rooms are very warm, inviting, and comfortable. Would appreciate it if you would install a Tesla charger (electric car) in your garage during your renovations. Tesla will give the wall charger to you upon request, you just have to install.
booked the suite and hence was quite spacious for a family of three. breakfast was continental but had some hot stuff like oatmeals and was ok to take back to room and eat with the family. Parking was extra which was not revealed till we checked in. a stiff $20 per day per car. which given other hotels were not charging, felt like nickel and diming
It was pretty spacious and the front desk girl was really nice. Room wasn't the cleanest, and the walls were really thin, you could hear everything going on next door.

my boyfriend and i loved the shower.. water got hot really fast and amazing water pressure. Our room was a lot larger than we had anticipated, which was great. It almost felt like a tiny home during our 4 night stay. We also loved how close it was to the downtown area and lots of good restaurants. Only 1 mile from the aquarium, we walked there and back. overall had a wonderful time at this hotel, we even stayed an extra night. I didn't like the continental breakfast. the first morning was ok, bagels muffins and fruit with coffee and juice was nice. But by the second morning i was over it. More variety would have been nice for the price per night at the hotel.

Booked a three night stay and had a wonderful time. The location was amazing and the service and time spent at the hotel was great.
When we first got there the view was stunning. The beach was right there and there were public access points to it, making access to the beach easy. Our room was an ocean view. It had a great feature for windows where there was an automatic screen that could go over it for privacy. The staff were friendly and the room as a whole was very clean and comfy. The place felt like luxury and we thought it would be a lot more for the price. Would definitely recommended it. The only problem I noticed was the door stuck a little bit. It was hard for me to open my door to the room. You had to push hard to open it. It also would not close unless you slammed it. That was the only problem I noticed, and I'm surenot eevery door is like that.
Clean room, safe door, beach access. No pool or jacuzzi as advertised! Construction all over the place! They NEED to lower their prices until they get all the construction done. I wouldn't go their again just because they charge extreme prices and a "resort" fee for something that doesn't exist! Obviously not a place you can trust since they are still charging the same fee while they have ongoing construction that makes it impossible to use the facilities they advertise. Room was clean, comfortable bed, but our "garden view" room literally looked down into boards, saws, tools and half done empty pool. Beach access is really the only reason to go here until they finish their "resort".
Even with a nice veneer, the age of this once run down motel is starting to show through again. Small rooms and an odor from the sewer system. You get what you pay for. Service, usually good, was halting on this visit.

The lobby Rooms are not nice at all. The pictures on the website are deceiving. The cleanliness is really awful. When we told all this to the manager, he tried switching us to a different room but we didn't accept as it was exactly the same. At that point the manager told us that we shouldn't expect more from a 3-star hotel. So if you care about your room being clean, and overpaying for an upscale motel, then avoid this hotel.
Most rooms have 2 comfortable queen beds. Hard to find. Made a reunion of old friends very comfortable. In room Starbucks coffee was quite good. Far better coffee than at most hotels for those of us who need a good cup as soon as we awake. Selection of snacks was limited to small vending machine size without many healthy selections. Would like to see healthy and larger sized chips, etc sold in larger sized bags on premise.

I liked that it was near the water. Most of the staff was very friendly and very helpful. The view from my room was amazing. The bed was comfortable. There was construction going on while I was there that was a bit disruptive. The pool and Jacuzzi were closed. They put me under the conference rooms and they got pretty loud during my stay. The fees were higher than stated in my original agreement plus they tax the fees and everything else.
Terrible wait staff. It was almost like we were inconveniencing them. After we order we don't see them again until the check.
Location is the best in Monterey. Staff is helpful and courteous. They should put foldable beach chairs on the balconies to enjoy the view even more.
The hotel is clean. The hotel is the only hotel right off the state beach in that area (which is a short drive outside the downtown area of Monterey). It was nice to be able to walk from my room onto a beach. It is way over priced. In addition to the already expensive room price $$$, we were charged an additional mandatory "Resort Fee" of $25/night for the pool, gym, and Internet. In other hotels I've stayed at these are included in the price, not an additional fee. Also, the staff (specifically the front desk staff) were not as nice as you would expect of a "Resort". When we checked in the staff didn't welcome us or anything. She just wanted our reservation & credit card. When we asked questions, she seemed annoyed like we were holding her up from more important things. I felt more like cattle than a guest. Overall, for the price I paid I could of gotten a room in Monterey Bay, close to a Beach in Monterey which in my option has a better view of the water.
Staff was fantastic- just very accomodating, friendly and really made an effort to make the stay enjoyable. Can't say enough about the staff. I was sitting reading on their pretty outdoor patio and they offered me a glass of wine, even though the bar wouldn't be open for another few hours. Room was really great- spacious, updated fixtures and hardware (felt like a swanky room), and without any ambient noise at all. Plush soft towels, comfortable bedding- the whole experience just made us both feel like "ok, we're staying at a NICE hotel." We were on the second floor facing the street and really didn't get any street noise at all either. If we're ever back in the area, we will definitely stay here again.
I was looking for the best hotel for the most reasonable price that accepted dogs. This was the one that I found using Hotels.com and Yelp and other resources. They honored my reservation made late last year and I was able to bring my dog. That was really great. The rooms were very nice, very clean. It was an excellent value for the money. Some people complained about the noise but I did not notice any problems with that. Staff was very nice and allowed me to keep my trailer parked in the lot while my boat was on the water. That allowed me flexibility during my visit. The front parking lot was very tight and very full. The back lot was not accessible due to construction but I assume that would free help once construction ceased. They no longer accept dogs. I would go back again if they allowed dogs still. In fact, it would be the only place I would go while staying there. The fridge is a little small but many food options were nearby so storing food is not really highly necessary.
Pool, hot tub I paid $200 for basically a motel with a cuter looking front. The place seems like it needs a fix up and not just cosmetic. I've NEVER stayed in a hotel with no a/c..you should at least advertise that there's no a/c. We heard every footstep of the guests above us. I'd never stay again
Modern room update. Extra sink/ mirror outside of bathroom which is always useful. Very clean. Comfortable bed and bedding. Fireplace which would be lovely in cool weather. Centrally located. The safe in our room would not open and my things were in it. The hotel staff could not fix it although the maintenance guy was able to get it open. The manager gave us a voucher for the restaurant which was appreciated. Small room size. No air conditioning which I realize they don't need very often, but it was quite warm when we were there.
We often stay in Monterey and we very much like this place. It's location is great if you don't mind walking a little, and the rooms are nice, clean and well-equipped. The amenities are small -- workout room, pool, etc... but when in Monterey there isn't a reason to stay at the hotel anyway. During peak season, the rooms are a little pricey here

The location was good not great. Close to stuff but still a bit of a walk. I was happy with the value. Comfortable room and clean. It looks like the place has recently been renovated. A bigger pool and hot tub would be nice.
The check in person was helpful and friendly. The check out person was defensive. Room is too crowded with stuff. Lack of space for luggage and yourself. We were on first floor where they recommend locking windows plus people could see in. Two small windows on the parking/alley side did not provide enough air considering there was no A/C. Also very noisy in the morning on that side. Add to that was the fact the screens were ripped. TV had a cheap, crappy remote. The location is only okay. Price too high for the product.
Location was great! 1. Your ad said I had two options for this type of room: City view or Ocean view. I clicked on city view. In reality, I got a room on the second floor and a view of the building next door and the Subway down the street. VERY misleading ad and application form for your room. 2. I was given the option of a King or Double. The room was for my partner and I so I was hoping for a King. I've never received a double booking as a couple but this time I did. I called front desk to change my room when I got upstairs and they said I never specified King. Your website doesn't give a very obvious space for me to specify King though. 3. The room I was placed in was next to the weight room. It was loud because when people work out, they lick to drop weights which makes a lot of noise. This did not making sleeping very easy. 4. I tried paying for the internet but kept getting error messages. I'm good with computers and I'm certain this was a network issue and not a user error on my part. In short, I didn't get the room I expected, it was difficult sleeping at night bc we were so close to the weight room, there was no internet, and I don't understand how the front desk said I should have specified King bed when your online app form doesn't give me a space for that. I won't be staying at the Marriot any more in the future.

As we were checking in, we were told that we had signed up for two queen beds. As this was the one night in over 4 years that we got to spend together without her kids, I had made sure when I reserved the room it was for a king bed. After 10 minutes of negotiating, the lady at the front desk assigned is to a wheelchair accessible room with the king bed. Paying $400+ for the night, we were not very happy with the type of room we were assigned to. The bed itself was very uncomfortable. The mattress was very cheap and sagging on each side. The pillows were made of practically nothing but air. To add to the lovely stay, at 1:00 am we were awoken to the the fire alarm going off and loud flashing blinking lights in our room. The entire hotel had to evacuate and after the fireman came to turn the alarm off, we went back to our room. It was safe to say at this point we wouldn't get much sleep. As we complained to the front desk about our stay, they apologized and offered nothing to us. I will NEVER stay at this Marriott again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Very nice staff. Rooftop bar is cool, especially in the evening. Interesting themed rooms - European feel to the place. The room felt a bit cramped. Limited parking and dangerous access to the main road.

The attention to detail in rooms and by staff if we had a request
The hotel is an extraordinarily charming and unique boutique hotel. While the rooms are not large, they are well appointed. The rooftop bar/restaurant offers expansive views of the Monterey Bay and is a must see. The gracious proprietor, Naz, makes you feel at home (her home).
The location was nice. Everything was very clean. There was no clearly marked parking. The room was super noisy, especially as they entertained guests at the rooftop bar, and as they cleaned up the bar after the end of the night. And as they started to serve breakfast. The room was old and rather amateurish, with mismatched paint, dented walls, a partially-functioning TV, and a jacked-up door handle. Also, the bed was super uncomfortable. It was like sleeping in a bounce house. For the price, I expected a much nicer facility.
In house restaurant has excellent cook who prepares meals individually and the bartender is also top notch. Great view of the city and beach is nice. The breakfast was exquisite, the staff and facility had a euro feeling but parking is non-existent and the boulevard just outside the door offers no spots, forcing one to search for spots in a possibly sketchy neighborhood. Tiny rooms but nice.
The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big enough. Had dinner on the rooftop. Great view of the ocean. Great complementary breakfast. It was delicious. Staff very nice and helpful. Would stay again for sure. Very close to Fishermen's Wharf. The only problem with the room was no window. There was a door to the outside but didn't feel good about leaving the door open all night. Got a little stuffy during the night. No AC. Very limited parking.
This place is a true gem! The food and drinks at the rooftop bar were great and complimentary breakfast is like no other!
We loved this place. It was different but really fun. The decor was so cute and quirky and the staff was great. Loved the breakfast in the morning and the complementary happy hour drink on the rooftop lounge which overlooks the ocean. It was easily within walking distance of the wharf and the beach which was right across the street. The bathroom in our room was amazing! Great shower and jet tub with heated floors. We will be back for sure. The room was a little small but we didn't mind. The bed was too soft for my boyfriend and we will make adjustments for that next time. The only parking is on the street but we always found something close and we were able to leave our car their and walk most places so it wasn't that big of an issue.
Very clean and loved the Jacuzzi tub and heated floors, the beds were super comfortable and I loved the in wall fireplace. The bathroom was very nice and the staff was more than kind. The Complementary breakfast was amazing. It was even better than the breakfast we've paid for Though I loved how close we were to Cannery Row and how easily accessible it was to everything, the cars driving by in the morning was a little loud. Also, the rooftop restaurant was a little loud at times when we were in our room because we were right underneath but not enough to make me not want to stay there again.
The rooftop is amazing. We appreciated the complimentary drink during happy hour. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful. Location is nice because it's right across the street from the beach. Parking is limited. We stayed for 4 days and our sheets never got changed so they got pretty sandy. The hotel is located on a major road and so the traffic made things pretty noisy, especially since there is no air conditioning unit and we had the windows open.

Absolutely charming historic hotel located in the heart of downtown Monterey! 5 minute drive to the aquarium and a five minute walk to the beach and Fisherman's Wharf. Stayed two nights with our young family with 3 kids, and they loved every bit down to how they folded the napkins and toilet paper prior to our stay. Breakfast was overflowing with ripe strawberries and Boyd's coffee, and the staff dug up a corkscrew to keep and some wine glasses so we could enjoy our bottle from wine country. All in all, wish we could have stayed longer, and very pleased with its prime location and roaring 20's charm. Parking was slightly challenging but we were always able to find some spots on the street.
Beautiful Downtown, close to Fisherman's Wharf, and well-preserved and maintained building and rooms. Rooms are older and bathroom fixtures & layout could use updating, but the furnishings are antique, the bed was comfy, and the room was clean and neat throughout, and the place was quiet. It is located conveniently close to many differing restaurants, and of course the real touristy hotspots are only a few blocks away. Bring your walking shoes! So the closest parking they refer you to is 4-blocks away and there is no guarantee that you'll park closer even at check-in as they have no "dedicated" on-street parking/loading nearby. There are stairs everywhere, so even if you ride the elevator up, once you get to your floor it's the old-fashioned "wandering" hotel with weirdly set up hallways and you go out of one building into others, and there are stairs everywhere! Only 3-5 stairs but railings are only on one side if at all, and there's no forewarning of that fact.
The staff were very courteous. The hotel decor and history. There was a farmers market on the street in front of the hotel. There was some minor damage on the bathroom counter. Just an eyesore, nothing major. The tv was old but it worked fine.
Location was a block away from the wharf with restaurants and shopping nearby everywhere. Hotel was beautiful with historic architecture and vintage furniture Walls were thin and you could hear your neighbors' movements
The customer service was amazing and the room I picked was smaller than I thought and they upgraded me for free and the new room was amazing and we had a great time there!!! It was close to lots of sites we visited and we had a great trip!!!! I didn't like the stairs and the elevators were far from the room due to the fact that we have to pack a lot because we have a baby but the bell hop helped us and they accommodated our every need!!!

The hotel had an excellent location only a short walk from Monterey Bay and the wharf. Although a bit shabby, the hotel has a charming feel. The staff was helpful and friendly. Both the room and bathroom were uncomfortably small. Other than the bed, there was only one small uncomfortable wooden chair to sit on. No microwave or refrigerator was provided. The worst problem was the noise, both day and night, which made it impossible to get a good night's sleep. Between the trash trucks, the squawking sea gulls, the late night party goers, and street construction peace was not to be had. And, because the room was not air conditioned, the windows could not be closed.
It appeared the valet used my car for personal use. Found papers in the front seat of my car not belonging to me when I picked up my car after my stay. Very concerning.
The most polite, friendly, and helpful staff I have encountered at a hotel in awhile. The hotel itself was located in a perfect spot in town with lots of food places and stores close by. The fact the this hotel has such a historic history, being that it is 112 years old, made it all the more fascinating. Loved everything!
The woman at the front desk was so nice, she gave some recommendations for restaurants and some appatizer vouchers. The place was very clean and well taken care of. Will for sure return!
Room was clean and decorated very nicely. No AC in the rooms and the ceiling fan would only go up to the lowest setting. The in room fridge was very noisy but otherwise no complaints about the room.
Wonderful person at front desk. Astute which is rare. Hot tub clean and exercise room great. Quiet. Redid hotel and put in double pane windows and soundproofing. Very close to MRY (Monterey Community Airport) Need the exercise room which is tiny. If there were a lot of guests, it would not be possible to use. One place open for breakfast at 6 am. Not on property and not particularly healthy food.

Service was great. Bed made every day, coffee generously replenished each day. Courteous front office staff tutorial on local haunts and some handy discount cards! Will always stay at the Lone Oak when in Monterey. A little far to walk to any major sites, but parking is easy in Monterey so it was not a hassle at all.

Waffles, rooms were cleaned well each day. Friendly breakfast staff. Woke up to loud construction in adjacent room at 8:00am on Saturday morning. With a Saw-zaw and banging...not just a dull hum. Requested a 6:45 AM wake up but did not receive the call as they said. Luckily we woke up at 7:30 (after a late night out) and were only 45 minutes behind schedule getting to San Jose to catch flight home. Pillows are small and uncomfortable. The door knob to room was broken, had to pull up correctly to open it. Both days were rough wake up calls and I feel like we should have been offered a small discount. Front desk just told the guy to stop using the saw. Undecided if I will return or ever recommend anybody from returning in the future. based on value it was about $50 per night overpriced.
Just a 10 min footwak to The warf, a lot of Restaurants near by, free parking and good wifi. IT was just a 1 Night Stay and for that this Motel is perfect!
Rooms were clean, spacious, and had the necessary amenities. Showers and bathrooms were nice as well. It was close walking distance to downtown and felt safe. The room smelt of strong bleach/chlorine. I attempted to find/call front desk staff multiple times, at night and in the morning and no one answered or was at the desk despite it being "24 hour staff". The breakfast hardly had anything and was late being put out so we had to delay our departure.
The manager was very sweet, professional, and several times throughout our stay check that everything was ok. VERY clean room. Breakfast was ok... Just enough to hold you over til lunch. All of the staff was great. My only complaint is that the internet wasn't the best. I brought it up to the manager he he said it was the first he had heard that it wasn't working well and that he would have someone check into it.
We loved the location, we took advantage of the hotel 2 day aquarium tickets. The location is really close to a lot of things (~8 minutes from aquarium ~5 min. to Dennis the Menace park -it was closed for construction while we were there but its very close) The rooms were cleaned well daily we have 3 children (5,3 and 7 mo.) so that was good. There isn't a LOT of parking but enough, we only couldn't park in front of our room once (there is an annex lot where the ocean view rooms are located across the street... not ideal but really not bad). All in all we stayed a few extra days because the price was right, the location was great and the rooms were clean. I would go back again. My wife and I have back problems and so beds are often a big deal for us. I know as someone with back pain it was not very good. I'm not sure if they were old beds or if the style is just not right for my wife and I's backs. (Her problem is different than mine but neither of us liked the beds). My wife said she saw some stains on some towels one of the days but that they were clean. I didn't notice it.
Hotel is very loud, walls are paper thin and they do not care if kids are running the halls. We asked to be moved to a different room and were told that they were sold out. Front desk rep said he would refund our money and then said that he would not show us any proof of the refund. We left and I will fight this charge with my credit card company.

This place was quaint/clean/easy/quiet/not stuffy/not exclusive/inclusive and the front desk was very friendly. It was clean, affordable, in a relatively easy place to access the community, and had good parking so that even if they had overflow, they had a place for overflow. Being a seasoned traveler, I appreciate all they provided and I've paid far more for far less. The manager/owner? was very helpful.
The room was clean but the elevator was dirty
We stayed on the 2nd floor and had a view of the ocean which was a lovely surprise! I really liked our room. It was nice and updated. I loved the photos on the walls. There was a fridge and a microwave which was great to have on our trip. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing I didn't like was the complimentary breakfast area. We went in and it was very hot inside and there were flies buzzing all over.
It was a nice stay but the chaos with the breakfast was stressful and the parking lot was too small for a safe turning radius. I hit the curb with the underside of my car when I reversed out of the parking spot. Parking lot and the breakfast
It was partially clean.. You could still feel like sand inside the bed. Cheap furniture, staff not very friendly, the tv remote didn't work. The carpet on the floor felt very dirty too. Breakfast was the typical small, cheap hotel food (waffles, some bread, coffee, cereal and orange juice, NO protein whatsoever) I'm happy we just stayed one night, it would've sucked to stay longer.

Staff was super friendly. It was convenient and clean. There were teenagers next door that were out side the door yelling down to the pool and going in and out while we were sleeping. Finally at 2 am my husband opened the door and told them to knock it off, which they immediately did. Needless to say it was a rough nights sleep.
Hotel overall seemed recently renovated. Requested extra towels and they came up immediately. Bed was very comfy. Breakfast ending at 9:30 was too early, we missed it.
We liked the location in Seaside next to Monterey Bay, the room was clean, shower was very good, and breakfast was well made. The front door was set in by amateurs as it was lose enough at the bottom and side to let in any insect or lizard. No shower mat for the floor, and the toilet was made for 2 year olds to use any lower and smaller and it would be a foot stool.
The lobby was under construction. No laundry facility.
We love that its close to the ocean and near the freeway. With construction over the place has a new facelift. The staff struggle to keep up with the morning food and many items are out and slow to be replaced.
