Life is Good Cartagena Hostel

Location in the heart of Getsemani and really easy to find. V quick to some of best cafes and bars. From the moment I arrived the staff were super accommodating - including when I got sick towards the end of my stay. The breakfast is delicious and different every day. Private room was v comfortable with everything you could need. Rooftop was also great for relaxing after long days of tours/waking.

Can be a bit noisy but to be expected in the area!

The property has more of a hotel feel about it which was quite nice. Great air con in rooms which the guests can control. Beds really comfy with curtains for privacy. Good bathrooms with hot water. Free water and ice when you want it. Nice rooftop area with jacuzzi and day beds. Staff very helpful. Good choice of food in the restaurant and 15% of when you stay there. Great free breakfast.

A down fall is the property is quite pricey and for that I think they could give you free towels but you have to pay for them. We also asked to store our luggage for 2 nights which they said we could but that there would be a fee. We had already stayed and paid for 4 nights in the hostel which was over £100 and for that I thought they could store our bags for us for free for the 2 nights as they were just going in a unused store room. We were left with no option but to pay so a little bit disappointed in that. They do have a guest kitchen which is available to use but you have to borrow the equipment from the kitchen which is 2 flights of stairs down and take it up with you. The kitchen staff didn’t look to impressed that we were using their equipment either so I probably wouldn’t recommend staying if you want to cook the majority of your own food.

Great location in Getsemani. I enjoyed walking around the area, seeing the street art, international flag street and bars. I felt very safe. I loved the refillable water station as it was so hot so the cold water was amazing and free! Free breakfast was also great. It was just enough to get me through the day. I liked the beds had a pull sheet for privacy and each bed had plug-in's and a lamp. It made it very easy to not bother the other roommates. Also, we had a our own bathroom which was really great.

While my bed was clean, once I moved my pillow, there was popcorn all over. I don't know where it came from but was kinda gross. I mentioned it at the desk in passing but not worth making a fuss over. While they had a happy hour 'station' set up, it wasn't as social.

The staff! They were all SO friendly and happy And always eager to help! The dorms were very spacious and had privacy curtains, large lockers and excellent air conditioning. Breakfast has lots of options and the staff were super accomodation for me as a vegetarian and were happy to alter my meals (of course ask politely!) Security and location is excellent! Roof top and jacuzzi’s are lovely place to chill. Internet is excellent all over the building including roof.

The only con was that the laundry service is super expensive and a fixed price regardless if you only have a few items. The staff were able to recommend somewhere else who could do it close by however which I appreciated.
