My major recommendation for driving in Cartagena is to be patient! If you take your time and allow the area to guide you on the road and through Old City, you will find a pleasant Automotive sightseeing Journey, without ever having to leave your vehicle. Do not let personal indiscretions interfere with your curiosity to explore Cartagena. Alamo gives you a wonderful opportunity to have a proper fitting car, that is respective to the roadway and navigating throughout Old City. Again I stress, have patience on the roadway and you'll be fine!

My experience with Alamo was absolutely terrible. When I arrived to pick up my rental car, I was informed that they had given it away to someone else, despite my confirmed reservation. The representative was rude, unprofessional, and showed no regard for proper business practices. When I explained that I had a valid reservation, he dismissively told me I should have contacted them in advance. However, my reservation clearly stated that no additional confirmation was required. Even after showing him the proof, he simply shrugged and said, “I gave the car away—nothing I can do.” His attitude was completely unacceptable, demonstrating a total lack of customer service and accountability. This was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience.

When arrived to Cartagena they just told me they didn’t have any vehicles available, recommended me another local rent company and I ended up paying more for a smaller and different vehicle than the one I initially reserved. On top of that, I had to pay for a new cover and the company that initially was covering (Rentalcover.com), don’t have any customer service and there’s no way to obtain a refund for that service that they never provided. I would definitely not recommend Alamo or Rentalcover.com, one sucks and the other one is a total scam.

The staff was friendly and helpful. However, the vehicle did not meet our expectations. As soon as we began driving, an alarm went off regarding an electrical issue. We made a trip between cities with that alarm. Also, seatbelts in the backseats did not work and the car brakes made noises
