Surrounded by vineyards and orange groves, this secluded guesthouse overlooks the confluence of the Tamego and Douro Rivers. It offers an outdoor pool, hot tub and massages followed by a private serving of tea. Guests at Abôl de Baixo can treat themselves to a relaxing Ayurvedic or Shiatsu massage or swim in the garden pool while enjoying the scenic landscape. Bicycles are available on site as well as a well-stocked library. A morning breakfast buffet is served each day, either in the dining area or to the guest rooms. The garden barbecue can be used by all guests. Quinta D’Abôl de Baixo is a 15-minute drive from the town of Castelo de Paiva. Free parking and free Wi-Fi in the hotel’s public areas is available.
the farm house is renovated to a new condition and feels like spa with the jacouzi in the room wooden walls and floors and the bath robes, the place is quite, free internet, comvfortable bed, large room, relaxing enviroment, the owner Antonio speeks english and very helpful in finding all that you might need (restaurants, places to go etc) real nice person!!!!
the breakfast is served in a beautiful manner and nice room with a view, but its contents is poor. we would expect a larger variety from such a nice place. the location is hard to find and could be scary at night, if you put the GPS coordinates it will get you in the scary way and not to the right spot. I suggest calling Antonio, he showed us a very simple way to get there from another road. the address will not show on your GPS because its a farm (quinta)
peaceful, relax, peace
Rust, erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Mooie kamers/appartementen.
The hotel has an amazing view, the staff was very helpful. It's a perfect place to relax for a while.
Simply the best that I have ever seen in this price category. Extremelly good location: you are in a heart of Northern Portugal, good connection to Porto (30-40 min by car), Gimaraesh and Braga. We lived in a garden, 3-4 traditional restaurants around, nice breakfast, individual attitude for each customer. I strongly recomend this place for those who want to come in touch with traditional Portugal countryside, good food, vine production culture and just have a rest far from crowded cities.
The location was great, nothing but vineyards and gardens around and a great view! The hotel is based in a renovated old stonehouse, really nice design with natural stone and wood. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Good breakfast as well!
The only thing was that it was difficult to find as no signs around and the navigation system didn't find it either, so don't make the same mistake as us to not read the instructions on how to get there before you set off.
The accommodation built up in stone were lovely, in a beautiful setting, surrounded by nature, great for relaxing
Character of traditional buildings well converted to hotel accomodation.
Slightly difficult to find!
