10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff, the tranquility. The vegetable garden. Very pampering feel!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We ended up staying two nights here. The hotel is very well located for visiting sites around San Ignacio and is situated in large and beautiful Tropic Gardens. We had a wonderful private tour of Barton Creek with a delightful member of staff from the Lodge. The hotel also organised our transport across the border into Guatemala and made sure that we met the taxi driver waiting for us on the other side. As we were independant travellers and were a little concerned about this part of the trip, we were extremely grateful that this part of our trip went so smoothly. The bedroom was a little smaller than some of the others we stayed in during our trip to Belize but it was still comfortable. Small but adequate pool great for a refreshing swim after siteseeing. Also comfortable sun loungers. We were there at a quiet time of year for the hotel not sure if this facility would be adequate when the hotel was full.
Cons: The menu in the restaurant was the same every day and the service could be a little slow. I found the formal meeting with the manager in an enclosed office/wine cellar, at the start of the stay a little unusal and off putting, but I suppose they were just trying to make sure that we understood the hotel facilities and the tours we had booked
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful resort in general. Great "jungle" lodge that's right off the main road outside of San Ignacio town. The staff are quite attentive.
Cons: Not much child options on the menu. But then, my 10 year daughter is quite specific with what she likes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best stay ever! The Villa 2 is beyond luxury. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate our family. Thank you Ms. Anna, Ms. Fiona, Ms. Vendetta, Eddie, Ms Genesis, Robert, Avi, and Mere!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, nice property
Cons: Road noise, bar was great but restaurant could have been better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unfortunately we only stayed for one night. However everything was absolutely delightful! The staff were pleasant and welcoming. The pool was nice and the room was perfect!
Cons: Absolutely nothing! I can’t wait to stay again!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Staff was amazing
Cons: Return travel from nearest city
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Ka'ana is a resort outside of town and has excellent customer service in every respect. The beds and rest of the accommodations are excellent. We enjoyed every minute there.
Cons: For us, nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and peaceful resort. Amazing staff. A true find.
Cons: Na, maybe heat the pool?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So much to like at this resort! The most impressive thing about ka'ana is the customer service. It is second to none. If you go to Belize and are on the mainland you have to stay at Ka'ana.
Cons: No worries you like the whole experience
7.5 Good
Pros: We stayed for one night on the „Balan“ standard room on our way from Guatemala to the coast. Very nice garden. they also grow their own vegetables. Food at the restaurant was tasty and good portions. The pool area is quite nice, even though the pool was a bit small for swimming. On the day we stayed there, they had complimentary Cocktails an a 15-Minute Beck massage offered to all guests.
Cons: It is a nice place, but in my opinion not worth the money.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything (facility, service, comfort of villa)
Cons: I love the secludedness as a getaway but it is a lot of driving for sights closer to San Ignacio city.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location and the attention to detail on all fronts is amazing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting. Very relaxed atmosphere. Plenty activities to do in the area. Great to have your morning coffee delivered to your room!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Really a cool place. People here treat you like Royalty. Lovely place!
Cons: The road getting here is very rough. I would recommend a truck or 4 wheel drive .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed warmers
Cons: It rained most of our stay
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have travelled all over the world and this is by far the best place I’ve ever stayed. From the homegrown, local food, to the gorgeous rooms, grounds, massage facilities it is all incredible. What puts the cherry on the top is the staff. They are the most friendly, attentive people I’ve ever met. They all know you by name. It was sad to leave because I’m going to miss all the staff!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: staf at the breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Can't complain about the location and the situation of each villa. A very special place where the river was favoured over the swimming pool for a dip. Staff great and design of cabins well thought out and very comfortable. Great not to have a TV anywhere to tempt the children.
Cons: We were then in August, and wasn't made aware of the level of biting insects on site, more in room repellent would have been helpful.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very remote but set on beautiful grounds, the hotel helped us organised transport so getting there was hassle free! The rooms are enclosed in screening so you really feel like you are out in the jungle at all times. Food and wine selection was excellent. Must try the grove restaurant in the herb garden, highlight of our dining experience! Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent place for an active or relaxed holiday. Be sure to explore Barton’s creek if you have a chance!
Cons: There were quite a lot of mosquitos, need to wear big spray at all times. As you are out in the jungle sometimes bugs can sneak into the room behind you. The staff were very helpful in getting rid of any that i couldn’t cope with!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and the property extremely clean. I enjoyed my stay at the 2 bedroom villa. By far, the highlight of my Belize trip. I can’t wait to get back.
Cons: Not a single thing!
The Lodge At Chaa Creek - San Ignacio - Pool

9.4 Excellent (157 reviews)

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic eco resort with multiple level$ of lodging. Tours can be pricey but, the level of care and attention to detail validates the cost. The on site activities are a wonderful added value. We also found the staff to be some of the best parts of our experience at Chaa Creek. Would definitely go back.
Cons: We eat a whole foods, plant based, vegan diet. Chaa Creek was extremely accommodating to our requests. Our one suggestion would be to educate the kitchen on the depth of what “whole foods, plant based” means. They would find a very receptive crowd and it would tie in nicely to their eco friendly message.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The site is absolutely beautiful and manicured. The rooms are really clean and tastefully decorated. The dining area is gorgeous and the food is tasty. The guides are really knowledgeable and friendly. I would really recommend the visit to Barton Creek and Xunantunich.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and cosy, nice and very helpful stuff, in kitchen you will find all you need, it‘s quite but in the centre, so I can highly recommend it
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The house family was great; friendly, informative, really tried to make sure I had a great time. Kitchen was well stocked and filtered water. Bed was comfortable, two fans in my room, towels. I had a room with a private bathroom which was clean and the water pressure was good. Safe area, quiet street, walking distance to restaurants, tour companies, and even Cahal Pech. I would definitely return!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptionally clean, perfect location, safe, the lovely host who was so helpful and went above and beyond. She took the time to explain to us many local’s tips. It feels like home. The best place to stay in St Ignacio!
Cons: Nothing. It was perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The family that runs the place are really lovely and friendly, and gave us good advice about tours to do. We took their recommendation to book a tour to the ATM cave with Mayan Walks and it was great. The room had a private bathroom which was good, and a fridge inside (the other room upstairs did not have a fridge but has a kitchen next door). Compared to other places in the area it was less expensive.
Cons: Maybe it is just the sesson (we visited in June), but unfortunately it was very hot in the room. We were offered two rooms to choose from at the start, which was really nice, and we took the one downstairs that our host said was a bit cooler. But it was SO hot in there in the late afternoon and during the night. There is a fan but it basically just blew hot air around, and there's no fresh air coming in because the room is low down and only has a window on one side... so we didn't get much sleep.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Check-in was a breeze and the family that rents out the rooms was very nice. The room was basic but had everything that could be needed. Despite not having aircon, with the fan I didn't find myself hot as some others mentioned...so I guess it depends on what temps you are used to. It was nice to have a kitchen with water, cups, plates, etc. to be able to use. The location is close to the main downtown area, but far enough away that it is quiet and not so busy with people. Overall, this was a great place and I'd stay here again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lourdes was so sweet, welcoming, and helpful :) I really enjoyed chatting with her.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The family is so lovely, always ready to help and to make your stay even more comfortable. Kitchen is nice, bathroom good and very clean. Recommend staying here with these very friendly people!
Cons: Nothing really.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were amazing!!
Cons: No air conditioning is terrible when it’s 40°C
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hostess is lovely and will go out of her way to help you with anything you need. The room was a good size with a clean bathroom and 2 fans. The outside area was nice to relax in and the kitchen was useful if just for a fridge and being able to make coffee. It also has filtered water. The location is minutes from downtown San Ignacio and we were able to park our hire car next door. They have laundry facilities and the hostess even took down and folded our washing so it didn't get wet when it rained. I highly recommend this guesthouse as a base for exploring this part of Belize.
Cons: The bed was a bit old so you could feel the occasional spring.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is super friendly and helps with anything you need, including local info about buses and markets.

Cons: The bathroom could have been a little cleaner
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel and amazing pool with a comfortable atmosphere. We LOVED The Iguana Project! Also, rooms were very clean and we enjoyed the complimentary treats served every night.
Cons: The Running W restaurant. Service took a long time, steak was undercooked, bacon was practically raw.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff is fantastic and always friendly. They’re very familiar with the tour providers in town and knew when we’d need towels.
Cons: The pool has a lot of leaves in it. We did go for a dip later at night; the pool is cleaned in the morning
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, comfortable bad, great room with large patio and hammock! Amazing experience. Everything was so sparkly clean!
Cons: Everything was perfect
7.0 Good
Cons: The service in dinning room and bar was poor. Everyone was gone for the day and was closed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The grounds & pool are very well-kept. Delicious food at the restaurant there too. Room was very comfortable & clean. Loved seeing the toucans in the morning before breakfast for those who wanted to go on a guided birding adventure!
Cons: A little pricey, but a good location.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a great location, which allowed us to explore the area very easily. It sits above the downtown area of San Ignacio, but it is still within walking distance. If you don't feel like walking, then taxis are cheap. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the facilities are very comfortable with a great pool and outdoor dining area.
Cons: The hotel was under construction, which definitely took away from the ambiance. We didn't loud experience any early morning construction, but the hotel wasn't looking its best.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was so good. The restaurant is known for its steak but even the pizza was good. The staff is amazing, they somehow remember your name. It's incredible. The location is nice as its within walking distance to town & Cahal Pech Mayan Ruin the tour guide at the ruin was very informative. We stayed in the Regal room and it was very nice.
Cons: There are stairs everywhere so it wouldn't be a good location for anyone that has a hard time with stairs.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel, very nice staff, good food. I can highly recommend this hotel!
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location Very nice staff
Cons: A bit dated for the price
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was over the top nice and accommodating.
Cons: The hike up and down the hill to get to and from town was a little tough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My children liked “pizza night”. The green Iguana tour was nice. We were the last tour and there were just four of us. If you are staying here, you should check it out. Nigel was very informative. The pool area was very nice too. This is a great place to stay if you are going to see some of the local ruins.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location within walking distance of everything. Safe and secure. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Cons: Only complaint is that they are not set up to accept credit cards. Not a problem if you only spend one night .....we stayed four nights (2 rooms) and had to pay cash. Hate to use up that much cash on lodging when traveling.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The A/C worked and the rooms have a private bathroom. It is located near main part of town but still quiet at night. Hugo was very friendly and helpful. He even watched our bags for a few hours while we were between hotels so we didn’t have to take them with us for the day. The price was a great value.
Cons: The bed and pillows were okay, but not great. It was pretty hot in the common areas.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host was a nice guy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Amazing location and friendly welcome. Beds were comfortable and the room just big enough for the two of us and the ac and tv worked great.
Cons: Not too much storage space for your clothing and no real view out of the window.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location near the center of San Ignacio, within walking distance of many restaurants & shops. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fully equipped kitchen, including coffee maker and coffee. Room was simple, but clean and comfortable. Great value. I stayed here for a total of 5 nights & will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in the area.
Cons: I honestly can't think of anything I didn't like.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nothing special but clean, comfortable and a big kitchen shared area including kitchen. Really good value for money.
Cons: Nothing fancy but nice anyway.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of this guesthouse is great. It is right next to a car free walking promenade with restaurants and tour operators. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the room was perfectly clean. It is a no frills guest house, but we did have our own bathroom and air conditioning, all benefits. I would highly recommend this lodging.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very close to the towncentre A/C working (it was very hot in San Ignacio) Free purified water Cooking gear available
Cons: Furniture is quite old, bed was squeaking

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quite. Clean. The view is amazing and the owner very friendly and welcoming.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The major asset of this B&B is the owner, Mrs. Dof (or Dauphne), a wonderful elderly lady who is living a fulfilling life and has a great sense of humour and positive thinking. If Mrs Dof tells you her age, you will not believe it! And she still runs a guest home, remarkable. Note: not a guesthouse, but a guest home. And this is what she wants to provide: a home from home. You feel like being cared for by your mother or grandmother, with a hearty breakfast and nice conversation. Rooms are clean and spacious and the terrace with the swing is beautiful. I very much appreciated the detailed guidance on San Ignacio, Belize and other sights I received from a friend of Mrs. Dof's nephew, the manager of a tourism company.
Cons: It is difficult to say anything critical, given how wonderful the owner is. There is only one issue: the air conditioning. Bedrooms have a small unit but it is not efficient enough to properly cool down the room and is very loud. A standing fan is similarly noisy, but the ceiling fan is silent and good. I wished, Mrs Dof's extended family could help her get a more efficient and silent A/C into the rooms. Then this guest home would be even more perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Miss Dof’s was a home away from home. My wife and I were greeted like family, treated with cake, amazing giant breakfasts, and even a packed lunch when we took a day trip to Tikal. The room was comfortable, (if a little warm but it’s summer in Belize so what can you expect? The room’s AC unit and fans worked fine) the bathroom stocked with anything and everything you could ask for. Miss Dof’s is next door to Mayan ruins, has nice views, and is about a mile/20 minute downhill walk from downtown San Ignacio. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed our time with Miss Dof and her little dog!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Miss Dof is a lovely person. She gave as a warm welcome and the day after she even surprised us with a delicious cake she made for us. We enjoyed sitting in the garden swing on the veranda and looking over the town. Cahal Pech ruins can be reached by foot. Very good breakfast. AC and fans in room. Communication was easy and helpful. We can absolutely recommend this place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a wonderful stay and the owner was so friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious! I would definitely recommend this place and would stay again in the future!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Miss Dof is absolutely lovely, she could not have done more for us and made us feel very welcome in her home. The location is very pretty for San ignacio - on top of a hill with great views. Very comfortable and home away from home.
Cons: It's a bit of an uphill hike from town and not the easiest to find...could benefit from a little more signage and also need to be aware its not in the centre - its a bit out, maybe 15/20 mins walk and i'd advise being fit if you walk it in the heat as its quite steep.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were invited into Miss Dof’s home and treated like honoured guests. The veranda was an excellent place to unwind and watch the sunsets. Miss Dof is an amazing lady, the place is immaculate, the breakfasts were very satisfactory and I’d love to adopt her!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely delightful experience :) MissDof is a caring, soulful and sweet Belizean lady. She made me delicious breakfast everyday. She even did and neatly folded my laundry from the salty sea!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I love staying here. Ms. Dof is super nice and friendly. She made me feel like home. She welcomed us with cake and did laundry for us. Her house is super organized and clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: She is just the sweetest! The breakfast is delicious and fresh, the place is comfortable and incredibly clean. We were so glad we chose this place as she made us feel right at home the whole time and was very helpful. Would definitely recommend!
Mystic River Resort - San Ignacio - Building
8
9.1 Excellent (145 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Mystic River Resort in San Ignacio, you'll be 7.6 mi (12.2 km) from San Ignacio Market and 8 mi (12.9 km) from Green Iguana Conservation Project. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, laundry facilities, and a library. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: It is the jungle, next to a beautiful river. I loved waking up of the sounds of the birds. The flora and a fauna is amazing.
Cons: It was supposed to be an eco lodge therefore, I despised that they use plastic straws. The owner did mention that they were compostable, but these plastics are only commercially compoststable. Which there is none in Belize. More waste in the environment from an “eco” lodge.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Great birding on-site. Clean, spacious, and comfortable room. Nice balcony with great view. We enjoyed watching birds and listening to cicadas at night from our balcony. The trails are great, if a bit slippery in spots. The tours were wonderful. Tour guide was fantastic.
Cons: The food. There is very little selection and then they don’t even have everything listed on the menu. The American breakfast was awful, especially the bacon. Lunches and dinners were good but not great. For the prices, you expect much higher quality. The best was the Belizean food but unfortunately they only offer it one night a week. Another minor annoyance was having to wait for wait staff to fill your water bottles. They should have a water filling station.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Mystic River was lovely! The grounds are beautiful and the staff were not only helpful and kind, but very professional. The resort has a spa and a very good (and decently priced) restaurant. Much of their food is from their farm or otherwise local. It was consistently some of the best food of our trip. The bed was super comfortable though the sheets weren't the best quality. Homemade spa products in the bathroom. Dont miss out on goat milking in the morning. You can do $5 yoga classes some days. We didn't do a tour through them as their tours are quite a bit more expensive than in town...but the groups are smaller and the guides well vetted. And they pick you up at the resort which might be worth the extra price, anyway! Worth checking out. There is a fair Wi-Fi signal, but only in bar and restaurant. Nothing in the rooms... We were disappointed that we didn't have more time here! This could be a place where you could spend several days, use their kayaks on the river and have spa treatments and take day tours from the resort and enjoy the great food. Spend some time here!
Cons: No complaints. We loved it!! Pool was small.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property is amazing and they do a lot to make sure you stay is enjoyable. It was really hot while we were there so we did not get to see as much of the property as we would have liked but what we did see was amazing.
Cons: I understand this is supposed to be a natural environment whereby you can enjoy organic produce, fresh goats milk, jungle sounds and a nearby river. However at this price when it is 105 degrees I would like Air Conditioning and a fridge in the room. Also we booked our tours outside of the property as it was cheaper and they did not seem to like that.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Hotel lost in the middle of nowhere, great surroundings, friendly staff, good food.
Cons: It's a real adventure to get there, the road, if we can name it a road, is rather a pathway covered by stones and holes. Make sure to have a good SUV
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, intimately placed in the Mayan mountains. Maintains authentic Belizean feel but still feels luxurious.
Cons: No a/c, but understandable for Cayo District. People will fuss at the lack of WiFi, but that’s what you need when you come here! Reconnect with nature!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All the employees were very friendly. Loved the goats and birds!
Cons: Extremely hard to find. You need to put written directions that are printable on your website and all websites associated with your business. GPS does not work and I saw others had the same issues.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful low key resort with 15 cottages, all very private with lush foliage between each cottage. Nicely decorated, comfortable beds and accommodating staff to make your stay great.
Cons: The sheets weren’t great but bed and pillows awesome. The WiFi situation wasn’t ideal. I recognize that going to the jungle in Central America is a chance to unwind. However, there was no WiFi in the room and in order to get WiFi, one would have to go to common areas like bar or restaurant. There no outlets in the hotspots. I appreciate the no WiFi zones on the rooms but there really should be better accommodations in common areas.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location was right on the river and everything was so beautiful.
Cons: The rooms didn't have air conditioning. I know it's the jungle so it's ok, but I was uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facilities and grounds were of impeccable quality and design. The staff
Rainforest Haven Inn - San Ignacio - Bedroom

9.0 Excellent (332 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in San Ignacio, Rainforest Haven Inn is within a 15-minute walk of Ajaw Chocolate & Crafts and Cahal Pech Mayan Ruins. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: William who welcomed me was so friendly and willing to help. He let me check into my room early. Room was a great size, great balcony. Good air conditioning. Really enjoyed the hot sauce tasting. Great rooftop terrace
Cons: Basic facilities, not luxury but perfect for a two night stay.
6.0 Good
Pros: Clean
Cons: Poor Wifi connection
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Most of the staff was really nice and helpful, we had some good conversations with them. The room is very spacious and we were happy to have air-conditioning! The roof terrace has really good views over the town and surrounding area. We unexpectedly found the kitchen really useful as well, as we were able to heat up some leftovers there. We also appreciated the water refill station and the fact that we could buy some hot sauce right at the hotel! It's a short walk from town (5 minutes or so to the bus stop) and it's also really easy to walk to Cahal Pech (ruins close to town) from the hotel. San Ignacio in general is a pretty chill town, we would recommend eating at Guava Limb café and doing the ATM tour with KaWiil Tours.
Cons: It's a shame the air-conditioning doesn't extend to the bathroom, which made going in there quite a shock. There was also one guy at reception who was not very helpful (or maybe he was just a bit awkward); he could learn a thing or two from the others! The kitchen could have been a bit cleaner (we had to remove some ants from the microwave).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Will who works the front desk was incredibly helpful!
Cons: The TV in our room didn't work.
6.8 Good
Pros: Within walking distance of dinner spots, concierge helped arrange rides and tours, room was very clean! Patio with clothes line was VERY helpful! Restaurant recommendations were great!
Cons: Beds only had 1 pillow per person, 2 per person is expected. Sponge in kitchen was old, I would expect a new sponge for a new guest.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location, the rooms and especially the staff. Air con was nice and cold on a very hot day. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Nice rooftop with hammocks as well.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was amazing! We loved everything about the place. The option of the rum tasting and hot sauce tasting was great since it was in the same building. The room was comfortable and rooftop was a bonus. There was a kitchen so if you were staying long term, this would have been very useful as well.
Cons: Nothing really - could have used better pillows.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly, engaging, and always ready to help. The hotel offers a roof top with hammocks, a variety of tastings (rum, hot sauces, and jams), and clean air-conditioned rooms. Highly recommend doing all of the tastings!!
Cons: Nothing! Excellent hotel all around!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in great location, easily walkable to restaurants. The staff was very helpful with suggestions, reserving tours, etc. The rooms are not luxurious but had everything we needed. The bonus of the access to full kitchen was nice and the rooftop terrace overlooking the city was amazing for sunsets. We could walk to Cahal Pech (mean ruin), canoe down Macal River (shuttle picked us up at hotel) - super fun and cheap bc in vicinity to hotel. Showers weren't great, but wasn't a big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is amazing. very helpful . Love spending time there the place is worth staying . What ever you ask they have all the answers they help you and they arrange things for you too .

Pros: Entire stuff is extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is located in an amazing area so you can enjoy hiking and a day in the private creek pools. Lots of activities around:) Also the food in the hotel was very good and in reasonable price. We would definitively come back here.
Cons: Really nothing to complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was perfect. It is on a large and stunning property. The staff was amazing. I have not ever had such great services. The food was excellent. The hotel management have thought of everything. They greeted us it’s a welcome drunk, left reusable aluminum water bottles for us to use on hikes. The hiking on the property was stunning. They gave us radios in case we got lost. The pool and hot tub were great. I can’t say enough. The only negative was that we had to leave at the end of our vacation. We hope to return.
Cons: Nothing. It was beyond perfect!

Pros: Great authentic local breakfast. Very professional and friendly staff. Great help facilitating tours. Nice room and bed.
Cons: Shower could have been warmer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casa Blanco is just outside of San Ignacio centre - a little bit too far to walk, but really easy to get a cheap taxi. It was nice to stay a little out of the centre as it was peaceful and felt very safe. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious. There is no air con, but there is a fan as well as gap between the top of the walls and the thatch roof, which keeps the air flowing. It is covered with a mesh so no insects or mozzies (although there is a a mosquito net in the room). We were there at a very hot time of year and found it fine. The staff are lovely and the breakfast was great! Traditional Belizean food with a slightly different selection each day. Ricco the manager was extremely helpful and gave us a couple of lifts into town himself as well as giving us some great recommendations on things to see/places to eat. He arranged a fantastic tour of the ATM caves for us, and even arranged for his son to drive us to Hopkins! We would happily recommend! Thanks Ricco :)
7.0 Good
Pros: The Location was spectacular. The staff was extremely helpful. Ms. Grace, the cook was very lovely.
Cons: The birds.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Free fresh breakfast every day and very peaceful, unique and outstanding views and customer service by staff
Cons: Beds could have used pillow tops otherwise it's all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent, staff was incredibly courteous, and the view was beautiful. Very Zen environment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of every single staff member and especially Mr Ricky and his son was extraordinary. The place is located short drive from San Ignacio centre (you could probably walk within around 20 min but we never did due to the heat). It has extensive beautifully kept garden. There is only 6 rooms available at the entire property, it makes it very quiet and great to relax after day of sightseeing. Trips Mr Ricky helped us to organise were all great and exceeded our expectations. With beautiful falls, caves, Mayan sites and many more it is definitely worth to visit. We all hope will be back one day.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice surrounding. Staff is excellent. Ricky is point person he is great. If you do any tour please use him. He run great tours
Cons: Hard to find this place. It is just across from local hospital.if you get lost ask for hospital.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ricky was the best host ever. He is so knowledgeable and kind, and definitely made us want to come back. He arranged tours (one with his son Ronnie, who was amazing too), helped us with transportation, told great stories and made sure we got to taste real coconut and limes from the grounds. It's a beautiful place. The cook was fantastic- big Belizean breakfasts each morning.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and very personable. The view is amazing.
Cons: Everything was excellent
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place. Huge grounds but only 6 cabins. All of it looked after by Ricky, the groundsman, caretaker, concierge, driver, guide and just all round lovely, friendly guy. Cabins were large and although they had no AC, they were really cool using just the ceiling fan and with a few windows open. Full fly-nets on the king-size bed and a room fridge with supplied drinking water. Home cooked set breakfast available every morning as long as you let Ricky know the night before (and even then they'll squeeze you in with a little wait). No choice of serving but it changes every day and like the rest of the local food it was fresh and delicious. Dinner was available on request as well but we chose to eat out every day. Ricky provided lots of suggestions and also gave us a lift there. It's not the most facilities heavy place, but it was just an amazing experience.
Cons: Nothing.

4.0 Okay
Cons: We went to check in and no one was available. The entire place was closed and locked. We ended up cancelling our reservation and went to a different resort.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Communal kitchen facilities were helpful. Large room and quiet neighbourhood. Working aircon and cable television.
Cons: Very dirty, dead insects in the bed and bathroom, floors dirty. Door didn't lock properly and no safe for our valuables. Bathroom light connects to another light which illuminates the bedroom so anyone going to the toilet during the night lights up the whole room and wakes everyone up. Check in hours are strange (11am-3pm) and no communication from the property before we arrived. We were stuck outside for 30 mins with no way to contact the property because the staff had left and locked up the whole place when we arrive at 5pm. WiFi was unreliable. Slightly further from town but not an unreasonable walking distance.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The property is air conditioned
Cons: Bed has plastic cover, and we never saw the staff on the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was super friendly. Made our stay very pleasant. We had to check out early in the day and she woke up early with us and made us breakfast so we wouldn't be hungry before our long excursion. Fantastic place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large rooms with a c. public kitchen.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Plenty of space excellent wi fi, near town to walk to tour offices. Lucy was helpful and plenty of good eating near by so didn't really use the cooking facilities. Good down to earth Belize experience.
Cons: I quickly got used to having no exterior windows but the aircon and everything else made up for that.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great host, friendly atmosphere.
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Frendly stuff, good location, good in recommended restaurants.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, the owner was really helpful and friendly The room was large and funky, very comfortable and quiet
Cons: No complaints
7.5 Good
Pros: Had a very nice stay! Owners Lucy and her husband are such a nice couple,,helpful and kind...great spot on a budget...nice big comfy rooms for sure!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very big with a seating area and the air conditioning was so so cold. They even had HBO which was a luxury for us. It was so comfortable we didn't want to leave the room. It was a great place to rest up and even had laundry facilities. You couldn't beat the breakfast next door which Lucy's mum ran for $5BZE. Great value
Cons: It felt cut off as there was no windows that looked outside just into the corridor. The rooms upstairs had more of a view outside but maybe they were bigger and more expensive rooms.

Pros: Very centrally located, close to tour agencies, restaurants, etc. The rooms were clean and ok size. Spent 4 nights and are very happy with our stay. Serves a lite breakfast with toast, bananas, coffee, tea and water. There are more upscale resorts in San Ignacio, but they are far from town.
Cons: No refrigerator in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's okay, good enough.
Cons: It's limited choices .
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous location, on Burns avenue, the pedestrian area. Right in the centre of town. The Crave restaurant is just behind the hotel, and Guava Limb cafe is three blocks away, all within walking distance. The car park is on the ground floor and is convenient, all rooms on the second floor. The rooms are modern, bright, clean, and the bathroom very nice. Belize Bank ATM right in front of the hotel.
Cons: Wifi was spotty, it came and went, could have been a lot better. Considering most places in San Ignacio now have fast internet, this is important to fix.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place was authentic and had everything I needed.
Cons: The lighting in the room was not lampshade lighting, its bright and fluorescent which can be bright when trying to wind down
7.5 Good
Pros: Great location, within walking distance of downtown.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Parking
7.5 Good
Pros: Bed were comfortable.
Cons: Parking too tight.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was fantastic; price was great and it was very clean.
Cons: The room was VERY hot and stuffy and even with the AC on high it never 'cooled' off....which then made the bed hot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Service service service
Cons: Hospitality, everything

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I always stay at the Venus when I am in San Ignacio. It is clean, affordable, and staff is excellent! The internet has recently been improved and it was stronger than previous visits. The continental breakfast, filtered water, and coffee are nice additions, as well!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff. It was clean and location was perfect. Extra bonus, you can swim at their sister property!,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was super close to the main San Ignacio downtown. Close to everything. Love it!!!
6.3 Good
Pros: The location was great
Cons: The music from the main park was very strong, we couldn't sleep
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, on the Main Street, right across from some of the tour operators. Staff very helpful. Nice to have a free breakfast included which isn’t mentioned on here! Plenty of hot water, good WiFi.
Cons: Room was quite dark with only one small window. Advertise use of a pool but at another property.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and the air conditioning was great! Location is perfect!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, staff was really helpful with logistics, great bargain.
5.5 Okay
Pros: I think they can change the breakfast every so often. Getting the same set of snacks for breakfast gets boring and unappealing.
Cons: The bed was horrible, it was very hard to sleep in. It was hard and uncomfortable. The cover provided didn't really help, they need better ones.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Free breakfast, helpful staff
Cons: Little bit noisy
10.0 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great birdwatching
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this place. It's so peaceful and lovely. The birds were amazing. It was so much fun to explore in the morning and see the Mot-mot, toucans, aricaris and so many other birds right at the fruit trays. The food was quite good and there was cold beer and ok wine (for only $5/glass!). We met some nice people and really enjoyed talking to the staff there. The guides were good and they were very helpful about recommending excursions. There's so much to do - you have to choose among a lot of good options. The room was comfortable and the shower was good.
Cons: The only thing is that you really are just at this resort. You go off with the guides for your tours, but you can't really explore the town or go to dinner anywhere else. But it is such a nice place that we didn't mind!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Environmental was really nice and cabins cosy. Also staff was friendly and it shows it is family business - everyone was involved. Some trips were really nice that they arranged for us (like private family day trip to Tikal and horse back riding)
Cons: There was slight ”moist smell” on the cabin, but that is partly expected in such environment. Some trips were clearly more expensive when booked in hotel compared to other tour providers. Vegetarian options in food were not on the same level as non-vegetarian ones.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: I understood the place was ON the Macal River, so was a bit disappointed that there was a really steep and slippery track for about 1/2 mile to the river, and no bank, beach, dock, or space there to see the river. My husband was not able to negotiate the track, so never saw the river. The river access is definitely for young people only.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything about the timber lodge - especially the indoor/outdoor shower. Plenty of space for our group of 6 girls! We were ages 23-36 and had a blast!! It was like glamping in Belize!

Featured amenities include a business center, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The tours we booked through the resort were worry free. I had heard from some postings of challenges traveling to Tikal in Guatemala. We simply booked our tour ahead and brought our passports. They took care of everything. We had a great guide, rode in an air conditioned shuttle on both sides of the border and the guide was with us the entire time. On the way back we even had a late lunch in Guatemala where we could pick up some souvenirs. You MUST do this trip. Being only 2 hours from these ruins makes this a must see. Only $135 US PP was also a very fair price. Try breakfast at Pops as well. It's .. right behind the big yellow building in town. It has a very nice pool which we used after a long day of excursions in the heat.
Cons: Breakfast was good at the resort but less of a value then in town. Cabanas are great for 2 but kind of tight with 3. No drinking water in the room. Water was only available at the bar.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Good location that is slightly removed from the town but still close enough to walk to. Took the bus from Belize City that drops off in front of the tourism office and Midas was just close enough to comfortably walk to even with luggage. The restaurant had good food for breakfast but only tried the dinner on the first day when I was too tired to go into town to eat.
Cons: A trail of ants coming out of one of the light switches and a leaky toilet. Also the wifi is only in the common areas (restaurant, bar, and the yard) but I was able to get a working signal by sitting on the balcony.
7.7 Good
Pros: Ac was great, nice cafe on the premises, very near town, markets and other good restaurants, very clean. Friendly staff
6.8 Good
Pros: good location, quiet
Cons: Lots of little flaws, luke warm hot water, lights out, cracked mirror, missing screen. but overall ok place.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Location and rooms are great
Cons: No ice for in room or efficiencies
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the location, amenities and staff. This is our second stay and I'm sure we'll be back. All of the Midas' staff is very conscientious but don't push you. Got help when we asked but were able to enjoy our vacation without pressure. Per the locals the temps were exceptionally hot this time so the bartender was willing to turn one of the TVs facing the pool to the NHL playoffs for my husband and son so they could watch the game from the pool. :-) Made their night, maybe the trip. We love the location is close to town, just past the park so we don't hear the town noises at night. Close enough if we want to stay out late, but far enough we were easily able to get away from it when we wanted to and walked everywhere. Oh and BWT bugs love me but it's never been a problem at Midas. That said, we went to dinner at a high end resort just out of town this time and I got eaten alive. Glad we were staying at Midas and not the other PS thought they had some of the best fry jacks in town.
Cons: Enjoyed the pool and it's surroundings, but for the number of people staying there at the time, it seemed loud kind of late at night.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Staff very unhelpful unfriendly
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable pool, great bar and bartender, and cute/comfortable little cabins with beautiful grounds. We stayed here the night before heading up to Tikal and had a great time. The staff were very accommodating and we have no complaints.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Delmi is the sole reason this resort runs well. Rooms were cute & comfortable. Location perfect. We never had to worry about sightseeing trips . She arranged everything with great guides. Talk about a jewel in the jungle!
Cons: Our room was not as advertised. Delmi made things right by upgrading to a lovely room.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: The cabana was awesome, as well as the staff. Beautiful pool with poolside bar. Centrally located in the heart of San Ignacio.
Cons: No telephones in the rooms. No ice machines at the resort. Also no little mini refrigerators or microwaves in rooms. Also charge to bring a guest to the resort to use the pool even when accompanied by a paying guest
6.0 Good
Pros: The cabana was awesome. Nice pool. Great location. Nice little restaurant and poolside bar.
Cons: Front desk staff was not informative on extra charges. I was charged 15.00 per guest to spend time with us at the pool. That is ridiculous!! I booked the resort based on being able to meet with family and friends and enjoy the facilities at the resort. Didn't expect to be charged daily for that. We did spend money at the poolside bar for food and drinks. It's ashamed to be charged more then a room night to use the facilities. The WiFi is terrible unless you are by the pool or the deluxe rooms above the pool. I had no cellular service so I was dependent on WiFi to check email and communicate back to family in the US. I asked for a room closer to the pool to get reception and I was told that I could pay extra for a deluxe room above the pool. Not!!
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location-right outside the city so easy access, but away from noise. Staff was very friendly and pool was beautiful.
Cons: Not very impressed with the restaurant set-up. We went during the off season so this may be why it was slow and seemed unprepared. **If you are purchasing through Kayak and notice the Economy standard room-this is a SPARE ROOM. The spare room appeared clean, but we would share a bathroom with the room next door and bathroom/shower was across the hall. The bathroom was brand new and appeared clean, but we did not want to split with others. Also, this area was under loud construction during our visit in Dec 2015. We ended up upgrading to a cabana which was very nice.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: We loved the peacefull environment of this lodge. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast and dinner was delicious.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is the highlight of this hotel. Everything was freshly home cooked and delicious and they are extremely accommodating, even encouraging of dietary restrictions. Much of the produce is grown on site and the chef is very talented with seasoning with herbs and spices. Many varied and delicious meals were enjoyed!
Cons: The room was extremely basic (although given the price not bad value I suppose) and the air conditioner, although effective, was deafening making it difficult to enjoy a good night's sleep. Also no ceiling fan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place with beautiful jungle surrounding everywhere.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. ..nice Happy Hour.
Cons: My only suggestion would be to change the lighting at night, especially on that beautiful veranda leading to the rooms. Daytime it is a beauty, but at night....... The florescent lighting is too harsh for such a romantic setting. More ambient lighting would make it more desirable. NICE POOL AREA. I would get rid of the work out equiptment, no one will use it and it's an eye sore. I would add a few more hammocks instead.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire staff were consistently friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable with suggestions on what to do/where to eat in Cayo and open to sharing about themselves, their families and their education. The grounds are well maintained in a natural way that provides beautiful screening and privacy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This eco hotel is amazing. Everyone is very kind. The place was very clean and peacful.
Cons: A bit far from the city center.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location and grounds of the Maya Mountain Lodge are amazing. We really enjoyed eating at the restaurant, and the staff was so kind and helpful. They set up tours, gave us recommendations and really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We also really enjoyed the pool- which helped us cool off after a long day of exploring.
Cons: Our room- while very clean- was so uncomfortable, and quite institutional. We had a family of four and rented the “vacation apartment”. There was just nowhere comfortable to sit and visit. The dining room table only had 3 chairs- so we couldn’t even really sit and eat together. You couldn’t sit on the futon because it was so low and at a really awkward angle. A few minor adjustments by ownership would make this a much better spot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The environment and location is beautiful. The staff was ever friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed all the sounds and animals/birds you could here and spot in the morning
Cons: Since everything is locally grown and organic, the restaurant menu was a bit more pricey than usual.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Remote and quiet. Very relaxing atmosphere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere was perfect in every way. I loved the friendly staff, the clean facilities, and the delicious meals. I also appreciated the focus on health and wellness, and the availability of coffee and tea at all hours. The Maya Mountain lodge was a hidden paradise!
Cons: I loved everything!

Cons: Nothing I can think of.... was perfect
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great cabanas with comfortable beds, awesome staff and food. Organised tours were great too.
Cons: Instead of a fixed menu, 2-3 food options would have been great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The customer service was exceptional. The room was perfect for our family.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was terrific, very friendly, always smiling. Owners of the property were also very engaged and helpful. Guides couldn’t be better. People usually make a good experience great and Mariposa was one step up...excellent.
Cons: Can’t really say I didn’t like anything.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner and the staff were amazing! So friendly, many animals on the property for our kids to play with, other kids, nature trails, lizards, birds, pigs, dogs, etc. Our kids love it. The staff are very friendly, the food is incredible local cuisine and our room was perfect!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were amazing and very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and the hotel is in a great location.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Staff were lovely
Cons: They really charged an extortionate amount for the excursions and cheekily charged us $50 US dollars for a 1 hour stop at the zoo which did not even include the entry. Really upset by this. Also the rooms are extremely basic and not very comfortable and do not resemble the pictures advertised.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The view is AH-MAZING! Totally unbelizeable! You just can’t beat waking up to that! And the room is super cute, decorated well and very comfortable. Having the screened in porch with hammock at our disposal proved invaluable. On site tour services was also super helpful. And the food in the restaurant is superb! Try the pineapple chicken!
Cons: The air conditioner didn’t work very well, and the bungalow has a hatch roof so keeping cool air in is nearly impossible. However, the front desk loaned us a fan and it helped tremendously. Microwaves would have made it perfect!
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location views are breathtaking. The view are everything. I like the scren-in porch bungalows. Rooms has air conditioning, cable TV. On the porch a Hammock, chairs and a small coffee table are convenient. Large couch inside room.
Cons: Getting to the location, the road up the hill is Terrible. Gravel road and large potholes. Breakfast could have a more wider selection. Prices are way too high for breakfast and I also felt rushed. No fridge, no microwave. The cost for breakfast, I didn't have a blanket in my room. My family were not able to swim freely. $10 per person. The lady who worked on the night of 7/31/19 was extremely rude. She asked my 3 young nephews to get out of the pool, but still asked for us to pay for them. She would not give us her name and she also mentioned we should have inquired about the pool polices. For 2019 Belize vacation we stayed at 3 Resorts and this is the only one requested we pay for our guest to swim. Terrible customer service. Mostly the woman who worked the night of 7/31
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable hotel, great pools. Good food and drinks available.
Cons: Location wasn’t the best - had to get a taxi in and out of town. And very strangely the male wait staff at the restaurant were not very friendly/helpful/efficient, also kept you waiting while they were standing around on their phones at times. However the female staff were beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: There are no safes in the room
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Overall the hotel was great, really friendly and helpful staff and great food. The bar area and the restaurant were great with surprisingly REALLY good food. The cabanas are nice, although need a little tidying up, and the pool area was excellent.
Cons: The hotel is a great base for all of the local trips but it’s way up on a hill overlooking San Ignacio so there’s no chance you can amble in to town if the feeling takes you. The cabanas are in need of an upgrade, wardrobes and storage for clothing would be a huge benefit, and considering the climate a small fridge would be a Godsend. Generally though, they are clean, tidy and well looked after.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: San Ignacio isnt the place you visit to watch T.V and sit comfortably in a air conditioned room. It's a place to be "one with nature" if you're hot, go jump in the beautiful pool that's steps from your cabana. There's also a natural breeze through the cabanas at night, so the A.C isn't necessary. The breakfast was very good
Cons: The head wait staff at breakfast had a bad attitude, however I wont allow her behavior to affect my review of the other staff that were terrific. The T.V and A.C didn't work very well, even when it was fixed by maintenance. The dinner wasn't very good, I recommend eating out locally in town somewhere
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bungalows were amazing. Food was great. Pools and the views were spectacular. Barman was awesome and made our night. Extremely close to ruins and offered in house tours etc which were great value for money.
Cons: Nothing.
5.0 Okay
Cons: Toilet didnt flush and was unclean. Aircon was on max but didnt cool the room (cleaners turned off during the day too). Restrauant didnt have half the items on their menu, and served us an uneatable meal (shrimp cocktail), oh and still charged us for it. Ants were everywhere throughout the bathroom. No light near steps meant i nearly fell over a couple times at night. Really rough hotel.
