“The guesthouse has an overall very home-like and comfortable design with artisitic touches here and there. One of the best designed places I have stayed in Sri Lanka in this price range. The spacious kitchen and the common area with sofa are rare find and make it ideal for a group outing with friends or families. Owners have put a lot of thought into integrating the bussiness with local communities and there are plenty of novel trekking routes you can take to know more about the local culture and sceneries. Manager Lucian and his wife are very helpful and friendly. There is a large aryuveda garden behind the guesthouse and Lucian would be glad to take you on a tour of the garden if you want.”

“Beautiful place hidden away in the hills. We did a day hike in the knuckles mountains with a guide arranged by the owners. They can arrange for the neighbors to make Curry for you and the caretaker Lucian also made fantastic pasta, soup and pancakes!”

“We had a great stay at The Pepper Cottage! It's a lovely house tucked away in the jungle with a great view of the mountains and lake. The host and owners are very welcoming and good company, there is a really nice vibe! The food cooked by Lucian and the neighbours was amazing! Lucian even made a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast on our request. The kitchen area and living room make you feel like you are at home. The beds are comfortable, the shower is hot with good water pressure and everything is clean. It is great to sit on the terrace and watch the birds, squirls and monkeys playing in the trees while you are having breakfast or a drink. There are some lovely hikes and walks to do in the area. We recommend doing the 12km hike through the villages, tea plantation and ricefields. The people you meet on the way are lovely and the views are beautiful! We would totally recommend staying here!”

“Incredibly home stay in the beautiful countryside around knuckles range. Lucian has plenty of recommendations for day trips and activities in the area and will be happy to take groups on trips. Also cooked delicious food for breakfast and dinner, but also works with neighbours and people from the village to support locals and small businesses. Wonderful supportive host and business :) also the soap in the bathroom is so dang great I went to the supermarket and brought 10 home with me ”

“Delightful rural setting. Unpretentious village house, comfortable beds and good showers. Best of all was the host Lucian, who took great pride in making guests very welcome in his house. He was on hand to assist in guiding walkers when he was not cooking up excellent suppers and varied breakfasts. Nothing is too much trouble. Peaceful location shared with wildlife. Breakfast on the terrace with beautiful views of the valley and surrounding hills, whilst being watched over by a troop of monkeys was particularly memorable. Can wholeheartedly recommend.”
