The desk personnel and maintenance were courteous and extremely helpful. They were always accommodating to our needs and questions. The beach was excellent. We were unaware that they had one so it came as a pleasant surprise. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. I would stay again and recommend this Hampton to friends. The hallway carpets could use replacement. They looked worn and dirty.
Great salt water pool, resort is on the ocean, rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast included. Everything was new and pleasantly decorated. Lovely stay. Would stay again. Double beds. My husband and I sleep together in a queen bed we had to sleep serarate here the beds were rather small.
Cookies, Atmosphere was low key which we like. Enjoyed looking at Iguanas from afar Need restaurants and room service
Front desk was helpful Location was disappointing
Great location to use as a base for exploring the keys
The Hampton Inn provided a nice room and area outside to relax. There is a bayside beachfront, a pool and outdoor bar. I don't think anyone manned the bar while we were there though. The pool is heated so that's a bonus if temperatures are cooler. The room was clean and the rooms were fairly quiet. A good stay all around. nothing - it was all good.
Great location, very nice rooms, wonderful beds.
don and mango, (the bartender and his parrot.) A large influx on non paying intruders on Saturday and Sunday, taking up space in the pool area and beach, absolutely no enforcement for paying guests, I literally could not get a lounge chair at the pool or beach. At the end of the day, they packed up their barbecues and coolers and went home!!
We arrived very early and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Very clean hotel throughout. Great complementary hot breakfast. Extremely helpful and friendly staff members. Definitely recommend!
Good place for the price. The bathroom door had swollen up and wouldn't close or open easily. But other than that, had no problems.
Dirty room. Grime in the windows, dead bugs in the screen. The bed was uncomfortable and the sheets were sticky. The original desk person put us in the wrong room, and later we were locked out in the cold winds while the sorted out their mistake. Then they tried to charge us for five extra days. The rooms were very outdated and were nothing special. Avoid this overpriced, dirty establishment at all costs.
Location Price for poor quilty
Dated rooms in serious need of repair and renovation. Rooms were staffed up but not clean. Mold, dust, everywhere.
The property is old but the rooms were clean, comfortable bed. Location is convenient to John Pennecamp and other area attractions. The adjacent restaurant had good food and service and an excellent sunset view. The pool was very nice, clean and had enough lounge chairs. I cannot call this a "beach" property. The area that was open to the bay was only about 20 feet wide with man-made walls on either side. There was sand but not much water.
The view is beautiful the hotel it Okey little bit expensive but Okey. My room it was very clean and comfortable the staff very professional development
Convenient location Bathroom needs updating. And there's no beach. (The website makes it look like there's beach access)
Beds were not comfortable room was old and dated no curtains in room sheets were wrong size for bed kept falling off
Love how close it was to the water and to restaurants We couldn't check in early
Private beach area (though small), central location. Shower pressure sucked, refrigerator not cold, floor dirty (had white socks on and they were black on the bottom).fan in the bathroom did not work, door difficult to open/close, kept loosing Internet connection, a/c noisy, NEEDS updating!
The location is great and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The place is a bit run down and needs an overhaul. Everything from the towels to the showers and windows is pretty rundown.
Was in Key Largo for 5 days for work related training. Was able to get a room for just $72 a night, which was a better deal than a room only on Airbnb. The area behind the inn leading to the water is well maintained and they have one of the few kayak launches. Fishing available and I think the kayaks were provided by Bayside Inn. Beautiful view. I paid $403 for five days and I think I got a great price. Thanks Kayak and Bayside Inn!~ I had to bein training early so missed the breakfast until my last day. The breakfast they provide was standars continental(sp): begals, muffins, ceral, milk, orange juice, coffee. No complaints.
Two restaurants near the hotel was a plus but prices caused us to drive to a different location to have our meals. The overall location was good and was near many activities that my family had planned. Employees were very nice and actually attended to any of our issues. The breakfast was nice as well. The pool was not the best and the hot tub was worse. I also did not like that private sailboats and other water crafts were tied up along the marina because trying to sleep and waking up at 2 am because of a fight or loud music is unpleasant.
Marina Del Mar was absolutely fantastic! Situated right in the heart of the dive and fishing charters, within walking distance to numerous eateries, this place is awesome!!!!!!! Everything was great!
Staff was cordial. Breakfast was goodrr Rooms and baths were a little shabby
Lovely pool area, nice view of the marina. Room was a little small, but the price was right, and it was clean. Nice bar/restaurant next door, and only maybe a 1-minute drive to the highway. 5 minutes to the nearest Publix. A surprising amount of street noise. Also, family in the next building over (same property, just a different building) sat out on their balcony until 2 am or so and they were REALLY noisy, and did so with seeming impunity (there were many of them and only two of us, so I didn't want to start picking a fight).
The location of the hotel was good. It is located on the water and easily walkable to two good restraurants. It is perfect if you want to scuba or Snorkle because the boats take off right from the hotel. The pool was also nice with a separate hot tub area. At night it is all lit up and a very pretty place to walk along the water The room itself was ok. The beds were comfortable and the air was cold and that is about it. It is outdated and a little dirty but for a short stay it was fine
The room was cool and the bed linens were clean. The bathroom needs updating. The wooden bathroom cabinet was rotted and the tub had mold. The pool needs some fixing up....like the concrete around the pool. The building in general is run down and the elevators look dirty.
Price and location were great. Everything was clean and perfect for a few nights in the Keys Bathroom could use updates but it was very clean.
We loved that there were restaurants on both sides and are walking distances. The pool is nice and big with plenty of shades by trees. The place is a little bit older and nothing has been updated.
That it is located in Key Largo Let me say that I am not usually a complainer. I understand that details can get missed in hotels, etc. That being said, where to start on the problems with this place? First, the room we had was extremely dated. That by itself is not a problem, but, not only was it dated, it was also in very bad shape. Everything in the room was completely worn. The sink was cracked and leaky, the faucet was corroded, the vanity in the bathroom was falling apart, the tub was broken, and the toilet leaked foul water from under it when it was flushed. And that was just the bathroom! The beds are so worn they were sagging in the middle and uncomfortable. The AC system sounded like it was on its last leg, and the vent looked like it was literally about to fall out of the ceiling. The ceiling fan creaked and squeaked so bad it was unusable. The door had massive air gaps where you could look through and see sunlight. But, really, besides the raw sewage coming from under the toilet, worst of all was the that there were no curtains on the windows, and a shutter system that was on the outside. The cranks to operate the shutter was broken, and the shutters could only be opened from the outside. Anyone walking by could just open the shutters if they pleased, and we could have done nothing to stop it from inside the room. It was a terrible night! I called the from desk and they had no other rooms. I called every other hotel I could find in the area and everyone of them was booked solid. We just had to basically wait it out until morning. Whatever you do, avoid this hotel unless you like third world accommodations.
We liked that it was right on the marina and attached to Skippers restaurant which we ate at twice in the day we were there. The pool was lovely. We liked the pretty area to sit in front of the marina. Pool towels available. The room was a good size and comfortable. Didn't like that there were no chairs to sit outside your room
Decent location with a lot of nearby points of interest. Wasn't very clean, especially the floors and bathroom. Rather dated. Windows were dirty and non operational.
We left our dog home Paper thin walls
Quite surprised with the room we booked. It was very nice...large ..with a wonderful glass enclosed balcony. The bathroom was clean Towels were thick and fluffy. Paint on walls was fresh...BUT...we could not SLEEP in COMFORT...... We had a double room with large queen size beds. Enough for 4 people which we paid for, however the mattress on one of the beds had a sink hole in it as large as a bike tire. One night on this and our kids had to leave. The hotel was booked no other room or bed to give. my husband went outside on beach lounge and slept with the lizards. Thanks Marriott for your comfort beds you speak so highly of, not in this expensive suite! Told mgr and he said well you already prepaid....can't do a thing!!!!!!
Great location just across the bridge from Miami. Great for kids 5-16. I would NOT call this a romantic spot. Pool is very nice. The guys with "Emocean" (the watersports company onsite) are great. Food is good, but super pricy. The views are very nice, especially for sunset. You could just make one stop here and not leave, save for dinner and activities. First time we visited, we had a room with 2 queens; this time we upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite, which was as nice as any condo at the beach (although we would have been fine with a smaller kitchen for the addition of a 2nd bathroom). Even so, it was absolutely great. We would come back, especially considering how many improvements they have made to the property since our last visit, 5 years ago. Food and drink, although good, are resort pricy. Lunch for me, my wife and 3 daughters (15,12 and 9) was $121. And we're talking about sandwiches, etc, not filets. Also, there is a hybrid of "island time" here, akin to what you might find in some place like Jamaica. It's not QUITE as slow paced as Jamaica et al, but it is definitely a bit slower than you are accustomed to back on the mainland. Also, although it is a well run resort, you must keep in mind that they are on a schedule and there is a time for everything that may not be exactly when you would want it to happen (e.g. when are you making up our room?). If you can overcome this, you will likely be able to recognize that the service and staff are actually quite good, with some minor exceptions: a better front desk/concierge experience has been lacking both times we visited.
Rooms were clean but hotel itself can use updating. Staff were very good. Tiki bar and pools were a plus to this property.
The people are nice. All was cleaned , changed , made up when we came back for the day. We like the pool landscape. The bed had groves (gutters) where people have slept many times before. The carpet was dirty. We would take my shoes off walk around the room. When it was time to take a shower are feet would leave black feet prints on the tub. Fix those thing and the place would be a grate place to stay.
Simple, clean, accessible. Nice staff. Nice pools area to end the day after your other outdoor activities. One of the best things about Holiday Inn Key Largo is Doc's Diner, across the street. We dined there for breakfast and lunch 4 times. We also dined at Mrs. Mac's and the Conch House nearby, but they didn't live up to Doc's. I had mahi mahi fish-and-ships for breakfast twice, and it was awesome!!! My family loved Doc's and it was the best $value as well. The shower's retractable clothes line did not work, which is a necessity when you're going in and out to various outdoor aquatic activities. We were in unit 149, which was nice, but not as nice as the poolside units.
I liked the location and the parking facilities. Price.
Pool area and staff were excellent. N/A
Nice Staff Nothing
rooms are spacious and clean very comfortable.pools are very relaxing w/jacuzzy.tiki bar around pools.staff over acomadating.i would deffinately stay here again. nothing
Close by to everything !
Comfortable A little bit expensive
Neat and clean, close to good restaraunts and a very nice pool!
They didn't find my booking from booking .com
The location of the hotel and the roon
They were not good Stuarts of the gulf... There was trash on the sea floor. ( it had been there awhile.. And more than one piece)
We had a quick trip and it offered everything we wanted- tiki bar, gorgeous accessible waterfront, even live music and s'mores! Delicious food, brunch buffet.
We traveled with our 2 girls. Had a fabulous vacation. Our AC wasn't working properly and Jason came in to fix it at midnight! Talk about service and it worked perfectly after that night. Thanks to the great staff! Breakfast was pricey
Lobby was nice. Grounds were neat and clean. The room had a nice balcony. The room was in need of updates. Carpet looked old and worn. Furniture was old, scarred and worn. A full length mirror somewhere in the suite would have been nice. I expected a nicer room for the money.
Don't forget to turn in your room key! 20.25$ charge with no warning!
We liked the relaxing atmosphere and the very small man made beach. Staff was super friendly Bar hours sucked. Who closes a bar at 9pm on the beach? We paid for a room with a fridge but it was missing. Room was out dated and furniture really needs to be replaced.
Dixie- the porter was the nicest guy! The bed was very uncomfortable...too firm.
The king bed in our room was very comfortable. The on site bar and restaurant had a view of the sunset. The food that we ordered was very good and Jason the bartender who served us at the inside bar in the restaurant was very personable. The other staff we talked with in the restaurant were also outgoing, smiling, and friendly. They had a nice beach area with a small Tiki Bar.
absolutely wonderful, spotlessly clean, lovely staff, great atmosphere, will defintely return and recommend to others.
view from the room was just lovely--, and room had a truly private balcony with good space to sit and relax-- rooms were very well equipped with everything a guest could need. very restful and pleasant atmosphere. the meals and drinks were very pricey--
The view of the canal The general condition of our room was poor and unclean There were exposed wires hanging from the overhang in fron of the door. The front door when latched showed a large air gap. The living room furniture looked so unclean that we used bath towels on the seats and back. The carpet was so dirty that my white sicks were filthy on the bottom after only one day. Upstairs we found mouse droopings under the vanity. The interior of the oven was disgusting. Need I say more!!! Spend a little more and get a clean room!!
Staff leaves you alone. Big rooms. You're going to be listening to music so bad only a drunk person could like every evening from 6-11. There's a LOUD bar across the canal. I've heard better karaoke than the wannabe-Hootie crap crooners over there. From time to time, you will also hear people working on their boats in the canal. Total lack of creature comforts in the room: no soap or shampoo, terrible coffee. The lager lout at the reception seems to be proud of this frugality. If you want to use the hotel wireless, forget it. It is so slow as to be unusable when the signal is strong enough to connect at all. I tested 3 different mobile devices and they ALL worked poorly with the hotel Wifi; it's them, not my stuff. Outside the hotel, just walk down the street toward the water and there is trash all over the place, abandoned cars, a boat detailer, and a gated rich-bastard-only-accessible community. Go the other way and there's US 1. Lovely. About the reception.... I booked through hotels.com and there was some bullshit extra feel when I got there! Over $300 up front for 3 nights and then I have to pay 5 bucks more when I get there!? If this were BUDGET accommodation, I would not be so bothered. But to get the same old Keys rubbish style accomodation (noise, little fees, no nice little things) for a midrange price is just not cutting it. The parking lot that John Pennekamp State Park calls a "camp site" would cost 1/3 what this place did and is usually quieter; especially since the park outlawed booze. I have been a frequent Keys visitor since 2002 and I have observed a decline in just about everything except the prices and traffic over these last 14 years. Future trips will probably be out-island Bahamas or the less overdeveloped, ruined-by-cruise-ship Windward Islands. These places may sound expensive, but the Keys rip-off is getting to where you have pay premium prices for budget-level quality. There is no checkbox above for what best describes this hotel: El Cheapo for a premium, no so groovily decaying, cut corners but not cut rate.
The "room" was actually a small apartment with master suite upstairs and fully comfortable accommodations downstairs for other guest(s) with TV, closet, and full bath. Full kitchen with table and chairs,, and screened balcony overlooking the canal completed the suite. Everything was spotlessly clean. Walking distance to several restaurants and boating opportunities. The facility was an older building but because the owners take maintenance and upkeep very seriously, everything was very nice.
The view of the canal, activities and restaurants within walking distance, plenty of parking, kitchen with dish washer, good air conditioning and ceiling fans The actual cost after tax recovery charges and other fees add about another $25.00 per day than is advertised. The refrigerator didn't work properly and ruined food. The overall condition was old and in disrepair.
Loved it still talking about it
OLD & OUTDATED BEDS WERE TERRIBLE
2 floors, separate bedroom and bathroom upstairs this place was awful. Dishes were dirty when arrived. Beds were uncomfortable. Towels were old and ragged. Bathrooms needed severe updating.
Beach is nice. People are nice too. Wifi failed working, probably router needed a reset. Trying to find someone but no reception in the evening. I was forced to watch the stars rather than checking my emails, which was not bad but still.
The kitchenette was fully stocked and functional and the room was pretty much updated if dark. The mattress was VERY cushy which is a plus IF a guest likes cushy. Literally the very best coffee Ive ever had and the scones were really good. "Beach" area was manmade and teeny tiny more resembling a former boatlaunch with white crushed shell (which you wouldnt want to walk barefoot on). There is a nice dock to walk and sit on however. Really dissappointed they would not let the kayaks or paddle boards out ever though the water was very calm. We requested our second night cancelled for the $25 fee. staff were very friendly but check in was extremely confusing.no noise insulation between rooms so it was very loud in our room.
The Lodge is very well maintained -- the rooms are updated and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They have kayaks, paddleboards, and a paddleboat for use (for free). They also serve fabulous scones and tea for breakfast every morning! We were very pleasantly surprised!
Absolutely amazing accommodations
view of sunsets, small is good no pool
The hotel was very pleasant. It was just small enough to feel comfortable. No pressure to interact, but people were available if you wanted to do so.
Small cute hotel with great views. Nice efficency unit which was small but well equiped. Carol at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Size of room was very good and microwave, fridge, dishwasher and utensils offered flexibility for meals and cold drinks. Owners are friendly and interested in making your stay pleasurable. I found this lodging on the web under Bed & Breakfast Accommodations but breakfast was not offered. This is not really a complaint as the property is not really a B & B nor is it a hotel; more of an apartment/condo style. The amenities allowed us to keep food and drink items cold which was to our benefit.
The bed was very comfortable. The solitude was nice. The room was clean. The towels were ample. The kitchenette supliers were very good. Very close to the state park for water activities. The photo of the beach is misleading. The beach holds four chairs only and fronts rocks, so water access from the so called beach is unavailabke. If you want to go in the water you have to jump off the dock. A ladder on the dock makes it very difficult to climb out of the water. Windows could not be opened to we were subject to wall airconditioning even on a cool night. The hotel serves nothing/nada.
It is a beautiful location, the people were extremely welcoming & nothing was too much trouble.
Loved the cleanliness and ease of stay. We lounged on the dock and beach and RELAXED. It was perfect. Staff is great, they were there for us but didn't bother us one bit. We'll be back for sure. Humidifier in room was nosey when watching tv but not terrible
The room was beautifully furnished, the view, especially the sunset over the Gulf was wonderful.
A peaceful venue in an ideal spot. Excellent location for Miami and the Keys. Lovely place. Will surely visit again.
excellent room beautiful location driving from Key West so going north it was very hard to find (no sign)
Tiki house and the show Yes big ants in my room
Updated room Closeness to beach Cleanliness of room Helpful staff Affordable Parking
Welcoming bar-restaurant locally basic but sufficient comfort
Room included breakfast-that's not common at hotels in the Keys! Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Had shared deck just off the water, pretty to see in the morning.
nice clean great bar great price nothing you get what you pay for
We always enjoy meeting the people that come to Gilberts. The Tiki Bar has excellent food and service.
Good location, close to John Pennenkamp State Park. Great restaurant with excellent staff. Nice clean little pool. The beach is allright, but it is very small and you need to watch your step. On the other hand, if you´re not going into the water I guess it´s just fine.
The price was right for an ocean front view. The tiki bar was charming and the food, drink and bar staff were great. Beds were comfy and the room was updated and looked very clean. Minimal continitental breakfast included. The staff at check in and breakfast were abrupt and borderline rude. Not the warm and friendly vibe you'd hope for when on a tropical vacation. No coffee in the room and breakfast can't be brought back to your room. Not easy waking up and get caffinated with a grump over your shoulder. The rooms were super humid, the air didn't help. Quite the party hotel, so I wouldn't recommend for families. Staff is gone at 10, so there's no way to call when people are rowdy all night. And there's no phone in the room anyhow. No sunrise view, although sunset would be gorgeous I'm sure. We were just passing through, so it wasn't a huge deal, but would have been upset if we had booked for a while. Pool was under construction, would've been nice to know and probably wouldn't have stayed there, had we known. Overall, it was great for a quick night passing through.
Feels like home.
location was good no towel holders, all broken pieces, floor along bed was dirty, blinds, windows were damaged. wont be going back
Everything but room Room..over priced..dirty
Very lay back place, very relaxing and peaceful, all people working there are very nice. Double beds too small (full size) Strong smell of bleach Would appreciate not having music all the time
Bright bedroom Building site
The view from our room was fantastic, the room was very clean. A great location for access to the upper keys. This hotel is a great deal for the price!
They make you sign pool towels out then even when you sign them back in you get a hidden charge! I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. I'll tell them to stay next door at the holiday inn where the staff are much friendlier the pool area is way better the price is cheaper and they don't make you sign out stupid pool towels!!! I barely had enough room in my luggage for my own stuff why the heck would I stuff a ratty towel in there???
The location, only 3 miles from the John Pennekamp Coral Reef state park. The hotel is undergoing renovations at the moment so the entire hotel was a construction site in November 2010. No breakfast included and staying here doesn't come cheap.
to be honest, nothing except free parking and free acces to net. really disapointed after all. very cheap and not enough beach towels, foods for breakfast, too expensive for this quality of hotel. never take for this price
Verry nice staff at frontdesk, yveth. Nice view, and clean We couldn't swim in the pool, dirty water, and a lot of noice during we stay with the renovation. We need to go for a swim to another hotel, even for breakfast
My fiancé and I visited Dove Creek in May 2015 and we had a great time. The staff was very friendly and told us about a mangrove cove that we could go kayaking through- if you stay at Dove Creek this is a must do!! The kayaks are free and the mangrove cove is a short paddle from the hotel. We saw hundreds of colorful fish through crystal clear water and even saw a stingray! The restaurant next to the hotel, Snappers, had bands playing every night so we could sit by the pool or in the hammocks and listen to the live music. The rooms were also very clean and the bed was comfortable. We will definitely be visiting Dove Creek again!
Great area, quiet and secluded. The free kayak rentals were plentiful and plenty of water to explore through lakes, etc. Snappers next door was great to have there. Overall, a very peaceful, relaxing stay. Highly recommended over the nearby chain hotels!
Location, very peaceful. N/A
The location was great. Great value for the money. Loved the staff and the Kayaks. Will certainly do so again. No parking to speak of and our cottage was attached to the main office so there was a ton of traffic at most hours. The outside lights never were off enough to make it dark. These were all trivial as we are pretty easy going and the price was significantly lower than others in the area. We didnt stay in the room much anyway as there was too much to see outside.
Not much beach, docks were great, rooms clean, but obviously unchanged for many years except for paint
nice waterfront room too small & too close to noisy US1
We would DEF stay here again! We got there a bit early but wanted to use the boat ramp & fish until we could check in anyway. The room was clean ... Accommodations were amazing for the price! We had an unfortunate flat tire on our boat trailer when we woke up in the morning & the staff was EXTREMELY helpful in getting it fixed. ALL in ALL a GREAT value. I have already referred friends & we plan another long weekend trip next month! Thank you!!!
and did. Spent a second night there after having only booked a single night. Rooms were clean with no signs of mold (not easy in FL humidity). Staff was friendly. I had the wrong date booked thru Kayak so my reservation didn't show when we arrived. It was quickly sorted out and we were in our room. They have kayaks available which we took advantage of. Saw a baby manatee swimming along side its mother. They have 3 separate docks with lounge chairs. Not a bad way to drink a beer while watching the sun set. Mrs. Mac's restaurant next doors wasn't bad for breakfast. The Lazy lobster, 3.3 north on US 1, is worth the short drive. Habanos On the Creek is a total "hole in the wall" but definitely worth the 10 miles south on US 1. It's in with Tavernier Marina and Capt Petrucco Fishing Charter... all the way at the end almost under a bridge. don't let the place scare you. The place is NOT an all inclusive, doesn't have a gym, and doesn't even have a pool. Not that they try to claim they do but if that's the type of place you want, this isn't the place for you. Location: if you're not there for the little parks (John Pennekamp, Everglades, Biscayne Bay, etc) then you are probably staying in Miami or Key West. There are really only quiet activities.
Enjoyed having breakfast in the outdoor lanai. It was a decent continental breakfast.
Rooms are large. Beds are comfortable. Grounds are simple but pleasant. Beach area is small but very nice for sunsets. Dive operations are convenient for guests in the resort. Decent fridge, coffee maker and toaster in room. Good Wi-Fi. Parking is a little tight when heavily booked. Not 100% easy to find the first time.
Staff helped Door knob and lock difficult to work. Very little area to walk on beach
