I'm afraid we can't really think of anything.
BEDBUGS!!! The stay was already not perfect : there is no staff which makes it rather overpriced for what it is, but the next afternoon, when the bedbug bites popped up (a good 20 of them), it became a lot worse. There is no doubt it came from this place: we came from home and didn't stay anywhere else. Worst of all was that the owner didn't even acknowledge the problem, let alone issue an apology or some kind of compensation. Just a "sorry we'll fix it" would have been assuring, but instead he denied it happened at all. That makes it very likely the bedbugs are STILL there.
Brilliant location and very helpful staff, quiet and safe with easy access to all local venues.
Nothing, all good..
The place is located on a hill in between the Granada caves, therefore the view on Alhambra is amazing! One of the rooms is built into a cave, we had good luck and got that room, it was a great experience! The terrace is big and in shadow, with a table to eat and a sofa as well. Bathroom is huge, shower is great. Staff is very nice and welcoming. Breakfast is included, freshly prepared every day and really good (bread, egg, ham, butter, cheese, jam, fruit, juice) Coffee, Tea and kakao are always available for free. Overall a very pleasant and positive experience! We will definitely come back to that place! The hostel is located on a hill, getting there is exhausting, especially when it is hot. From the center it is about 15min to walk up the hill and stairs, if you take a bus for one station there are just stairs to walk up. For us that was a positive and not a negative point, as we travelled by backpack and enjoyed the quiet are. But one should be aware, with kids or trolleys it might by exhausting to access.
There is nothing negative to say, we would just recommend to the hostel to add two more chairs to the terrace table. Unfortunately not all guests as as nice to leave the place to others after breakfast, but stay there for hours. If there would be as much chairs as beds everybody can sit outside for breakfast.
Cozy room, clean, very kind and attentive staff. Free breakfast, facilities to cook and store your own food. I really enjoyed my stay. Beautiful view to Alhambra. Thank you so much Riad and Ana.
The location is absolutely unique. The house is a cave modeled into the hill facing the Alhambra. It has huge potential for a stunning apartment but it’s best days were most probably some years ago. It was clean and calm though and the kitchen is well equipped. Getting there is a great experience because you have to wander along historic pebbled streets through narrow alleys passing some of the best possible views of the Alhambra! Being completely left alone at the place was a fun experience and the prepared breakfast was completely sufficient with raw eggs you can prepare any way you like. Don’t even think of getting there by car!
The first impression of the room with its steel beds and the tiny window is like walking into a prison cell . Since everything is quite run down it’s not really welcoming at first but then you notice it’s still clean after all and get used to it We did not see any personal during our stay. The code to get our key out of a locker was sent to us via WhatsApp and the breakfast was already prepared in a tupper box in the fridge. It worked out well but you should come prepared for it :)
With a stay at Barbieri Cave in Granada (Albaicín), you'll be a 5-minute walk from Mirador de San Nicolas and 13 minutes by foot from Plaza Nueva.
