I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It’s an old-fashioned hotel with a very grand atrium. There is a public bath (not free) that I didn’t try. Laundry machines are also available. The room was spacious according to japanese standards, clean and comfy. The price was very decent for this type of room and hotel. The location in tenmonkan is very good, with good access to the shopping district, Harbour park and ferry to Sakurajima in walking distance. It’s near a tram station where you can go to Kagoshima-Chuo Station (also not far by walk).
There was a little problem at the check in. I was on time but the room wasn’t ready, and I had to wait for 30 minutes.
I had to cut my trip short in really short notice which I mentioned in passing when checking-in. I wasn't expecting a refund or discount or anything like that since I thought it was too late and unreasonable to request. However, they went out their way to make sure I got my money back for the days I wasn't using. It was highly appreciated! The room was nice but nothing spectacular but it was well kept and comfortable overall. They even included wifi which is always welcome! The location was in a decent area and relatively close to one of the tram stops which made it easy to get it. Also, it isn't a massive walk from Kagoshima-Chuo Station if you want to see some of the city. There is also plenty of restaurants nearby but they seemed to be opened mainly in the evening.
The walls in the rooms could've been better since I could hear the room next door sometimes when they were quite loud. It wasn't extremely distracting but is more a negative towards that particular guest more than the hotel itself. I wish they provided a larger fridge in the room with some food/drink provided (for additional cost) Other than that it was a pleasant short stay!
Great location very close to the city centre. There was a lovely French guy who obviously spoke fluent Japanese as well working here, he was just super polite & interesting to watch someone who obviously has completely embraced Japan as his home or working life. This is a great town on the whole great shopping & spectacular harbour side with views of a live volcano which was pumping out a little smoke. We could see the Volcano from our room. The hotel has a very grand atrium & the room was big enough, clean & tidy there is a public bath on level two or four. Night time outside, down the road was an eye opener lots of very young people revelling at restaurants & bars but the hotel is just enough away to be considered quiet.
There were many kind of plate at breakfast. They were good taste and satisfied me .
Location is good. But Kagoshima is my native place, I know better place than here. Maybe I won't stay here again.
