The hotel is reconstruction of the real castle. It was impressed and a special experience. Large room and interior decorated with antiques and portraits... Good for wandering out side nearby.
unusual location hotel built into the side of an old castle...breakfast good... a bit "tired." low lighting...somewhat depressing....
tranquility, food, private swimming pool
All the charm of a real castle, plus modern conveniences. The owner is in residence and is extremely nice.
The majestic old castle ruins incorporated into modern the added structure create an unusual atmosphere and setting. The hotel gives a picture of local nobility live style in the past. Worth to experience.
Architecture of hotel was interesting combining the old with the new.Breakfast was varied and of good quality. Dinner was equally good. Lack of consistancy over our 2 night stay. Eg.sheets on our bed were of an unpleasant brown felt-like nature( like a mattress protector.) whilst ,the next door empty room had white "normal" type. When mentioned at reception ,was told "I could take the sheet from next door and remake our bed ! They, then did say we could move into another room as the sheets were all different !. The bottled water in the room required a bottle opener , which was not provided. There an elaborate series of locked corridor doors for which we had a key, surely a fire risk , and reception was locked at 6 pm. Car parking gate security only sometimes worked, due to the exposed wiring.
Castle experience was fun. Spacious rooms. Night reception staff was between weird and spooky. Facilities (e.g. soap, sugar, coffee) was of very low standard. We got a twin room instead of the double we booked. No elevator makes luggage handling complicated (in the dark). You get 3 keys - room, hallways, and main gate.
It was sort of fairytale. Apartments is just amazing. The dinner near fireplace... Want to get back in this place!! Poor breakfast.
The castle experience Beds were incredibly uncomfortable, cheap soap, cheap shampoo and very very dark surroundings. Hotel signange was difficult to observe during night time. The surrounding area (immediate town) had no attractions to offer. A rather lengthy drive was required to enjoy attractions. If going there during summer, would recommend a hotel closer to the main attractions. The old castle experince is not what we came to expect.
Service was not 5*. Breakfast was sometimes poor.
