Pros: Terrific location with a short walk to the stores and restaurants of Carmel, or a short drive to Pebble Beach. Private, quiet spot with clean, crisp and romantic rooms (some with fireplaces). Very friendly and helpful staff - swing by the lobby for wine and cheese in the evening. My only issue was the thin walls - we could hear the "activities" in the next room. Otherwise a great stay, comfortable, classic, and well located.

It is a very interesting older hotel with lots of history the desk clerk gave us the rundown while we were waiting for our room to get finished. Breakfast is served across the street at the pine hotel another property of the Tally Ho. It was a hot buffet with Eggs, Meat, potatoes, cereal and fruit. Our room was very large with living room area fireplace and big flat screen TV. The room was very comfortable and the bed was great. I was not impressed with the color combinations of the décor just not my style. It looked like every room had a patio area with chairs and lounges and the view on the upper levels is looking out over the bay. My wife and I had and great little get away and will use this Hotel again.
Pros: I liked the location the best. The Superior King room was huge and very clean. The hotel was one block off of Ocean Ave. and all the shops Restaurants were all within walking distance even for me with a bad knee.
Cons: Not the best hotel for handicap people lots of stairs no elevators
Would go to this hotel again, as location was great and within walking distance to both beach and restaurants.
Pros: Loved location and spacious room with good view. Bathroom was nice with both great bath and shower.

Flower-filled decks, patios and views create a natural setting that promises to refresh and relax. Combine nature with elegance and let us serve you a fabulous meal on Tally Ho's peaceful deck while you enjoy the warmth of the outdoor fireplace.
Pros: It was great, I suggesth the following
Fireplace should work without issue
Breakfast wast good but long time to replenish
Baked goods takes like bis bisquick
Cons: See above
We are excited to introduce The Hideaway – re-imagined, rebranded and redesigned to perfectly complement the charming beachside community of Carmel. The 24-room boutique Inn recently underwent a massive redesign and now features sleek, yet comfortable interiors and an updated courtyard. Formerly the Cobblestone Inn, The Hideaway, is just steps away from the beach and downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Pros: This hotel is epic. I could leave here. I will be visiting again soon. I loved everything about it. I especially liked that it has a mini-course where you can experiment with golf. Their exercise facilities were also great.
Cons: No, nothing. Everything was above par.
Pros: Oh my gosh.. the grounds of this hotel are so beautiful and lush! It is simply a slice of paradise.. rooms are large and comfortable.. the environment is so peaceful and relaxing...couldn't be nicer!
Pros: Awesome hotel, great staff, heated floors in bathroom, so dope...
Cons: The price, Im cheap and I know it so that's probably what it is haha
Pros: Spacious rooms, great for families and friendly staff.
Cons: Water coming out of bathroom faucet had a terrible smell.
Pros: The room was great and the staff was very friendly
Pros: Beautiful setting of the property
Cons: We saw an elderly female customer was receiving free goods from receptionist. My family member asked me if I got it or not, and my answer was no.
Pros: The rooms were awesome. The ground were beautiful. Carmel Valley can't be beat.
Cons: 9 holes of the 18 were under construction and couldn't be played during our stay.
We would come back, especially if we could get another room that faced the pond (room 201) or water (without having anyone in a room above us). Being away from the highway was a plus, too, not that you could hear it that much. They had a meeting room that faced the back deck and main water area, which might make a better breakfast area. Overall, we liked the hotel and its proximity to the lower valley and Carmel.
Pros: The room was big, the bathroom very big. The TV was new (HD) and crazy good. Liked the nine-hole putting course and the availability of golf. Grounds were nice (we had a pond outside our room) and staff was very friendly
Cons: Our mini fridge was too loud, revved up and down. Our main hanging light in room did not work, but we didn't need it. Breakfast area got a little crowded and sometimes there wasn't enough sitting area for the amount of guests, some of whom were rude
Great overall appearance and well planned room
Pros: Spacious room
Cons: Breakfast was not very good. Limited choices.
We highly recommend this hotel. The setting is beautiful, it's close to nearby places you want to go. The service was terrific and we had a really nice free breakfast.
Pros: Privacy. It is beautiful. Great free breakfast. Great service.
Staff at check in was very kind and explained all the details to our stay. We were pleased with the free parking and free continental breakfast. The breakfast had organic items and fresh fruit, my favorite was the Organic Strawberry jam! Definitely planning to return and stay in a Suite next time!
Pros: We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the Quail Lodge was a great relaxing place to do so. We loved the location of our room, right next to the pond and view of the fairway.
Pros: The room was amazing. Beautifully updated and wonderful bathroom.

Cons: The room we stayed in was very small, but other rooms that we checked out were very nice sized.
Pros: Location is great, happy hour was very nice, room is very Carmel. People are very friendly.
Cons: Room is small be manageable.

Pros: Beautiful rooms! The bed and sheets were amazing and the room was immaculate. The soaps and shampoos were very high quality. This hotel is in a very peaceful street. I slept like a baby. The fireplace was lovely too. At night, the courtyard is lit up with little torches so it's quite pretty. Theresa, the manager, was incredibly kind and helpful.
Cons: The lobby was a little spartan, so I was afraid the rooms would be too. They were NOT.
Cons: While we thought we rec'd a decent deal at $360 for a single night for a deluxe king room, a day before our trip i noticed a similar king room for $100 less. Figuring i would just get a better room with a view, i was disappointed to learn that the room had no view and just a gas fireplace. I mentioned the discrepancy in the rates, but they only suggested that we should have booked directly instead and called in first to verify the rates and the available rooms.

Cons: No mini fridge in the room
The staff was very, very pleasant. The hotel was beautiful and the location was within walking distance of everything I needed. The parking was very tight, but it's that way everywhere in Carmel, so it's expected. The first few nights were great. The last night, however, I could hear the people next door very clearly and very loudly. There was a connecting door and it seemed to let the sound through like they were in the same room. Overall I really, really liked the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
Pros: The staff was very, very pleasant. The hotel was beautiful and the location was within walking distance of everything I needed.
Cons: The parking is very tight and the walls are thin.

Pros: It's an older motor lodge style hotel, but the rooms have been nicely updated. It was clean and bed very comfortable. The Nespresso pod coffee maker is a nice convenience. Plus the location was a short walk from the main streets of downtown Carmel. Request a second story room, overlooks the ocean in the distance, otherwise I think your view is another hotel. Recommend for a short stay.
Cons: It's not a luxury stay, the included continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, but it was 'free'.
Pros: Breakfast one day (but not both - didn't get a card for the second morning, didn't realize we had to fill it out for every morning we wanted breakfast - so make sure you fill out your menu card!!)
Walking distance to downtown and beaches
Cons: Did not get breakfast second morning
Our room faced right out to fire pit - loud
No fans / AC - it was HOT, air was not moving, and could not leave window open due to noise factor from street and fire pit
Parking lot is very small, tight spots

Pros: Awesome view of the ocean. Love the wood burning fireplace. Breakfast was delicious. Staff very professional and attentive
Pros: View and fire place in room
Cons: 1/5 of your cost goes to the hotel, other 4/5 for the view. Facility is meh.
Pros: The place is very good.
Cons: The wifi needs more improvement.
Stayed for 2 nights in a suite. 2 story suite, living room and full kitchen and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs bedroom and very large bathroom area with walkin closet. Was very comfortable. All the rooms have wood burning fireplaces which is very charming. Overall stay was very comfortable. Clean rooms, quiet and beautiful views. Would go back just eat either in room or go somewhere else.
Pros: It didn't feel like a hotel. The rooms are spread out into different buildings, felt like an apartment complex. It was busy, but since everything was spread out, it was quiet. Quite was very comfortable and clean.
Cons: Ate at restaurants on site a couple of times. Good was pricey and not all that good. I suppose you pay for the view and convenience though.
Pros: Views of the Pacific Ocean.
Cons: Had to wait one hour for our room, even though we arrived at 3:30. The wait staff in the dining room was totally disjointed and seemed to lack any direction by a manager on duty.

I've been to Carmel and Monterey many times over the past 30 years and stayed at many of the hotels and Inns. I would probably put the Horizon at or near the top of the list for Inns in Carmel. Nice size room, good view (we got the ocean view room which is actually a partial view), walking distance to Ocean Blvd and the beach, great staff, etc. I would definitely book there again.
Pros: The room and the staff.

Pros: The atmosphere was charming, and the staff was welcoming and generous! We were upgraded and treated to champagne because it was our anniversary. The views were magnificent, and everything was close by! The breakfast was delicious and all the staff were kind and attentive. I was very pleased with our experience! Thank you to the staff for making our experience an anniversary to remember!
Pros: Hotel tried to portray a high end experience by providing milk and cookies at check in. Wine reception in the evenings. Turndown Servive at night and a decent breakfast buffet that is included.
Cons: Their premier ocean view rooms looked like a holiday In or 3 star hotel at the best. Very poor design and ambiance. Bad holiday in furniture , plastic trees and plants. I expected more for $500 per night, at least rooms that looked better. Also, rooms have no balconeys and hotel does not have a jacuzzi. It is possible that the hotel is offering value for the budget traveller (hard to imagine at over $500 per night). I did notice that better hotels where 30% more expensive when I was in Carmel. I would have preferred to pay about 30% more for better accomadations.
Pros: It was just beautiful and romantic in every way. Staff was incredible.
Pros: This is a beautiful property, with very accommodating employees and easy access to the beach and downtown. We plan to return someday!
Cons: Have no complaints!
Pros: Proximity to downtown restaraunt a and shopping, golf and ocean.
Cons: Rooms a little small
Pros: The views are stunning and the property is a gem. Gorgeous location off the main road but within a super close walking distance (and if walking isn't for you, there is a shuttle provided). Clean rooms, comfortable beds, extremely wonderful staff. The extras are at every turn - free wine tasting, chocolates on the pillows, hot coco when we checked in, etc. One of the best breakfast buffets I've had. I've stayed here twice and plan on returning every time I visit Carmel.
Pros: Charming historic hotel with fantastic service and location. We traveled with an infant and had a very enjoyable stay.
Pros: Charming place with the most attentive staff I've ever encountered. Stay in Carmel often. First time at La Playa. We'll be back.
Pros: I loved the location. Rooms were clean and staff was helpful. Bed was comfortable, what more can you want from a hotel.
Cons: Everything went well so I have no complaints
Pros: Beautifully restored older property with incredible grounds. Great location, very close to beach, shopping and dining. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very professional and courteous staff. Free shuttle will take you anywhere you want to go. Terrific place for a romantic getaway.
Cons: on-street parking only.
