The location is stunning and our room was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helped with sorting horseriding too.
The large kitchen was being refurbished and it became virtually impossible to use the smaller one as there were so many people trying to cook. The light in our room didn’t work and we couldn’t find anyone to tell.
Amazing location, right at the start of the Abel Tasman park. Really friendly staff and especially loved the welcome from George (Labrador belonging to one of the managers)
Spacious dorm room with single beds, very cozy kitchen
It's located right next to the Abel Tasman national park so, I would say this is the best place to stay if you wanna explore there. Staffs are really helpful and friendly as well. They made a book of aqua taxi for me and advised me how I could enjoy tracks in the park. Feel free to ask anything! They would help you!
I used shower and toilet next to 4 beds dorm room because it was the nearest one where I stayed. It was a bit cold when I started and finished taking shower as it's basically outside (and it's"winter") But it didn't really matter. They have several showers and toilets. Some of these are in the main building!
Very convenient location! It was just a minute walk from Able Tasman coast track. Highly recommended for hikers both traveling by camper vans and intercity buses. Bus stop is just next to the starting point of the track. Don’t forget to bring some canned foods and microwaveable foods with you. Nearest store is 20min walk from the backpackers, no cafes open in winter time and it’s expensive to buy foods at the backpackers of course.
Room heater was a bit weak
With a stay at The Barn Backpackers in Marahau, you'll be near the beach, within a 10-minute walk of Marahau Beach and Abel Tasman Coast Track. Featured amenities include luggage storage, laundry facilities, and a library. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
