Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Puerto Plata and I have been to five of them. Gorgeous views, courteous staff, all your needs addressed, good food, only place I have stayed as a resort/hotel that actually has Dominican food.
Cons: It was not all inclusive. Food and drinks are seperate. However the prices are reasonable and the week was cheaper than I expected. Next time knowing that I will just budget differently.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge pool, proximity to the beach is great. Staff was very nice which goes a long way. The rooms were a bit outdated but were kept clean. The Mercado buffet had good variety. Location is about a 10 - 15 min ride to airport which is great! Nightly Entertainment was fun.
Cons: The pool bar only had one bartender who was extremely overwhelmed at times. No one helped him, even to restock. Pool closes at 7pm which is a bummer. The Beach isn't great as there are a lot of huge mountain rocks in the water. Television reception wasn't the best but then again who was really staying in to watch TV? Also there isn't an AC controller. You could only control the speed of the ceiling fan. I could've gone without the vendors all around.
6.8 Good
Cons: Weather , staff from other hotels bugging in beachfront , loud bad music at restaurant
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Best food I have had at an all inclusive in Puerto Plata. Staff was very friendly with lots of activities. Service in restaurants was incredible, by day two Domingo knew what we wanted and had it ready for every meal by the time we were there. Top shelf liquors available at select bars, safe is free, casino is right next door, beautiful beach, close to airport and city, would likely go back. We had 24 people come from 15 to 78 and all had a great time (and not one person was ill from food)
Cons: Definitely more family oriented than for younger people, rooms were a bit dated... We had an outlet hanging out and a fridge that didn't work (we weren't in there very much), restaurant reservations can be hard to come by (if you get one go Japanese, by far the best) , less beach people trying to push excursions than other places but still there (they are honest and had better deals for the same stuff as the resort, IE we had resort goers in our group set up by the beach guys, but we paid a lot less), good liquor is really only found at the front bar
BlueBay Villas Doradas - Adults Only - Puerto Plata - Building
8.9 Excellent (2,876 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Puerto Plata, this beachfront property is next to a golf course, just steps from Playa Dorada Golf Club and Playa Dorada. Long Beach and Isabel De Torres National Park are also within 3 mi (5 km).
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Staff treats you like family. Great spa
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Small but cute, room was awesome, food there are not too much variety but pretty good flavor on everything.
3.1 Mediocre
Pros: Leaving
Cons: Staff
5.1 Okay
Pros: The staff was very friendly and responsive. Antonia at the spa was a fabulous masseuse.
Cons: We are from Vegas and know what good/great accomodations and food are all about. This is a sub-par property. For the price I marked it as Okay. The bed was hard and the pillows felt like bags of golf balls. They need to find a chef who knows how to cook. The food was aweful. Two nice pools and another for "members' only but no jacuzzi on the property.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The beach and the staff (excluding the lobby)
Cons: lobby staff was not trained, wanted me to pay again for a paid in full reservation because they didn't want to call Kayak to check. "Superior room" was really a good enough to sleep room, the bathroom's tiny shower clogged where, while showering" I had to turn off the water every 5 mins and wait for 10 mins to turn on again, room phone was not functioning, deteriorated facilities, not enough staff, pools were all shallow the deepest I think was 4"9 and this is an adults only resort. The food was D+. I will never go back!
4.5 Okay
Pros: Beach front is gorgeous. Best part of the resort!
Cons: Rooms were not super clean. You could tell the place needs some serious work done. Food was mediocre and so were the drinks. Definitely a party atmosphere. Not what we expected and we will not be returning.
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff was very accommodating when we had complaints
Cons: The food was not that great. They told us there were 3 restaurants on the resort for dinner but only one was open the entire time we were there. WiFi was super overpriced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The animation team was excellent treated me like the new me for years great people check out Coca-Cola he was hilarious
Cons: Just love the way they treated me food was good but the place treated me like family I will go there again try it out
3.7 Mediocre
Cons: When they checked me in my room which was marginal at best...the door was wide open to the outside allowing Mosquitos to enter . The room was loaded with them!!! Rather then giving me another room, they brought in a can of raid.I then took control and sprayed the the place down. I then left for a few hours and on return...more Mosquitos to find.I then learned that the windows, behind the drapes had been left open as well in both the bedroom and bathroom....I sprayed again then left for a few more hours.they said that they wood deliver a can of Raid to the room and leave for me to use as needed.i got caught up in the activities provided and didn't return to my room until midnight.Yes...more mosquitos flying around and on the walks and ceiling.I then went to the front desk and asked for the spray they didn't deliver and was told that house keeping was closed and to come back in the morning.i told them that I was going to sleep in the lobby. They then gave me a huge blanket and said for me to cover myself from head to toe and they would take care of things until the morning.Im glad I brought insect repellent and littelery covered my entire body with It !!! I then covered myself with the blanket as they said and needless to say....Didn't sleep but a wink!!! Also, the room they set me up in was a the end of their prosperity on the line with a shabby fence separating me from the jungle. The room had nonfunctional AC controls ! As I was returning to my room that evening to retire, i can around the corner to find a security guy tucked in the corner of my building which anyone would have freeked out for he was in a dark space.I then learned from him that he was going to stay all night because the locals come to their properity to rob the guest!!! As I watched him for a while from my window, he kept quietly walking up and down the side of the fence stoping and listening for intruders. Thank God I was there for only one night! The bottom line is! If you value your life....STAY AWAY! I will be posting this on YouTube soon!

8.6 Excellent
Pros: 1. Proximity to beach 2. The staff was amazing and friendly, very accomodating 3. Pool was great 4. Restaurant onsite was great 5. Could pay for things with credit card 5. Room was nice
Cons: 1. Proximity to beach was good but Playa Dorada is far from the main City of Puerto Plata, so a cab costs 17$ if arranged by the hotel (or $35 round trip)... you can negotiate in town for cheaper though 2. The hotel is great, but again the location may be kind of boring if you are looking to go into quickly/cheaply at night... good for families or people who just want to relax 3. There is no where to buy some snacks, beers, etc (like a mini mart or colmado) to bring back to your room. They do have room service and you can get drinks at their bar til 12am (reasonably priced too) but if you want some other snakcs and such on hand you will have to go into town.

Cons: Not All inclusive. Bar tender always missing from the bar in the pool.

Pros: The hospitality was very good in all departments, specially the entertainment staff. food on buffet and restaurants was great.

Vh - Gran Ventana Beach Resort - Puerto Plata - Bedroom
8.3 Excellent (1,751 reviews)

With a long list of premiere amenities right on the premises and in the rooms, you may never want to leave. However, should you wish to explore the area, the Playa Dorada is nearby and full of shopping, dining, and entertainment options like the Isabel de Torres Cable Car taking you 2,700 feet up above the region, the diving and water sports of Playa Dorada’s beaches, the historic Santiago De Los Caballeros, and more! The resort itself has the pristine beach, three swimming pool areas, all kinds of activities that include biking, diving, snorkeling, and even SCUBA! There is daily entertainment that includes classes in Spanish, Merengue dancing, cooking, and live shows and even special options for kids. Dining is all-inclusive and ongoing throughout the day. You’ll find gourmet restaurants, cafes offering snacks or drinks, and everything in between. Dine at Octopus for Caribbean specialties, enjoy poolside meals and drinks, beachfront experiences, and more. And the rooms are also idyllic retreats. There are more than 500 rooms ranging from suites to penthouses and they are spread out in charming “villages” with gardens, lawns, and non-stop sea views. All rooms offer a balcony or terrace and include plasma TVs, private baths, daily restocked refrigerators, direct dial telephones, and more. Don’t let the idea of all-inclusive make you think of anything less than premium services, amenities, and activities. The Gran Ventana Beach Resort offers everything you need for an unforgettable getaway.
6.5 Good
Pros: Location: Within 15 – 20 minutes of the airport. Near 2 other hotels and a golf course, 2 mini malls with a restaurant and a few shops. Room: We stayed in the Catalina building in room 2203 and it was great and very clean. They provided a hair dryer, shampoo / conditioner, shower cap, soap, etc. and the bathroom was spotless. There was a closet with shelves in the front and there was also a balcony overlooking the pool. The bed was very comfortable and there was a flatscreen TV and a desk. There was also air conditioning which made the experience very comfortable. Atmosphere: There were A LOT of families, senior citizens and spring breakers at this resort. The pool was large, gorgeous with a swim up bar and a great temperature. Since this is an all-inclusive resort the drinks were free as well the food. They offered many activities throughout the day including water aerobics, pineapple toss, dance class, etc. They also have a section for kids as well as nightly entertainment (i.e. magic shows). Most of the chairs at the pool are claimed by 8am with towels, so get down there early! There is direct beach access, which gets very crowded with chairs by 11am. There are A LOT of beach vendors but if you pretend you’re sleeping or say “no thank you” they’ll leave you alone. The water is clear and warm. There’s also a private beach which you get with the upgraded package, but we decided not to pay an additional $40/night per person. Also, they say free Wi-Fi but it’s only in the “theater area” and barely connects. You have to pay for it in your room.
Cons: Staff: Very mixed results. Some staff was super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were happy and had everything to make our stay enjoyable, while others acted like they couldn’t be bothered. I would like to see management create a consistent experience across all of their staff. For example, I had an allergic reaction to the shellfish (I wasn’t allergic prior... may have been the type of squid served) and my girlfriend we went to find me Benedryl. We went to both gift shops and they were EXTREMELY unhelpful. My girlfriend said my face was swollen and she was in a panic to get me medicine and one of cashiers was on the phone on a personal call hanging out and was no help at all. Luckily another guest told us there was a mini mall down the street that had a pharmacy where we could get Benedryl (ended up paying $11 for 12 tablets which was more $$ than normal). PS I'm fully healed :) Food: The food was terrible. Although it’s all-inclusive, we found the food to be inedible. The breakfast offered an omelet station your choice of green peppers, tomatoes, cheese, ham and corn or fried eggs and those were good. They also have a smoothie bar and if you ask for the “smoothie especial” they’ll give you an amazing creation by one of the staff. For lunch we ate salad with olives and chickpeas. The beef is extremely tough and fatty and the pasta was rubbery. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant on the grounds of the hotel and the meal was just as bad (the meal was included in the all-inclusive package).
9.4 Excellent
Pros: I was pretty pleased. I like the design and set up of everything. I liked the beach huts that protect you from the sun and the pool was very nice. Maybe it just wasn't very busy when we went (May 19 - 24) but I didn't think it was too crowded and could always find a chair by the pool or a hut on the beach. I found plenty of food to keep me satisfied. Restaurant food was really good. Be sure to take advantage of being able to eat at each one once a week. This was my first all inclusive - I found it to be well worth the money for my group of 3, sharing 1 room with 2 beds. They have a stone called Larimar, only found in the DR, which is beautiful shades of blue, the beach vendors have a lot of lovely larimar jewelry - I highly recommend getting a piece for yourself. Negotiate but remember the individuals selling stuff only get a cut of the profit and they most likely have families to feed. I bought from a few. If you are looking for jewelry, ask for Julio and tell him Cara sent you!
Cons: Beds weren't very comfortable but not horrible either. Not good for side sleepers - that's for sure, but not as bad as some reviewers made them out to be. I brought my own pillow too based on some of the reviews I read. Some of the staff was not too friendly. Learn some Spanish if you don't know any, that helps increase their friendliness and helpfulness towards you. One helper in the dining room pressured me to drink alcohol which I found really annoying, but that was only 1 guy out of many others who were very friendly and helpful. With some dishes it was difficult to tell if there was meat in them, it would be nice if they added ingredient lists at the buffet but the "healthy" section that contained 3 meatless options always had something I liked so I was pleased. The music at night was kind of annoying when trying to go to sleep early, but I'm pretty sure it never went past midnight. The people selling stuff on the beach can be extremely annoying/presistent, but I don't blame really blame them because they are doing what they can to get by.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the friendly reception to the beatiful facilities, great food and we'll appointed room, this resort is excellent. The staff is very well trained. The dancers in the evening traditional Dominican dance show were excellent. I stayed in the VIP portion of the resort and it was a great atmosphere. Stinning architecture throughout. From the moment I checked in until when I checked out, I kept telling myself, I must come back again.
Cons: All good.
6.8 Good
Pros: I liked that the pool had a bar n the beach was walking distance. They had shows every night. It was a fun night.
Cons: I didn't like that the authenticity of the national foods was very poor. But it was ok.
7.1 Good
Pros: The food was great! The pool was large and fairly clean. Good air conditioning in the rooms. Energetic activities staff.
Cons: The beach was so windy we couldn't sit there. Hard to find -- no sign in front of hotel or on the street. The shows were mediocre at best -- not always family friendly. Hard to get a reservation to one of the restaurants. The free internet in lobby was frustrating and rarely worked.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I was attending a Wedding Vow Ceremony and upon arrival to departure Everyone was very polite friendly with the best attitude. Food deliciously prepared, my suite was very clean, furnished appropriately and very comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was my second time staying here and it is 100% better. The rooms are updated and they are really nice, the restaurant was updated and that too was really nice. The food was amazing! We are very well. The entertainment was cute and funny, the whole family enjoyed it. Most of all, the staff were all amazing. Everyone always had a smile on their face and they were always eager to help. We had 13 people and the moved tables, chairs so we could all eat together. They even sang to my sister in law for her birthday. Great place, we'll be back again next year!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Service and food was excellent.
Cons: Night club not included, and needed more animation.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The food was great at the buffet, the room was very nice and comfortable. The staff was very friendly at all times.
Cons: I didn't like that there is no club inside the actual hotel. My boyfriend and I wanted to go dancing and we had to go outside the hotel to get to the nearest club. But overall it was a really good experience, I would go back
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely resort, very clean and the with wonderful friendly staff. I would definitely go back. Great place to relax and enjoy the beach. Thank you to all the staff for treating us so well.

3.4 Mediocre
Pros: The pool and the beach were beautiful
Cons: There was no variety in the food . The entertainment was mediocre. Expresso was only available after 10am which I find ridiculous since espresso is usually drank for breakfast. I've traveled to other resorts in that strip and I prefer Barcelo which is next to Grand Paradise . The front desk receptionists are very rude.
7.4 Good
Pros: I liked the beach near by. As well as the city and other turist atraction out of the hotel were close by
Cons: Internet (wifi) was not included and to pay for the service was too expensive. I wished they would have charged me in dollars instead of pesos.

Pros: Dinner Buffett was first class. We only booked for one night but we were impressed with the grounds and dinner. Our room was too cold even with the AC turned off. Check-in did not go smoothly as we booked, and I thought, paid, on kayak just 5 minutes before checking in. Still, at the front desk there was a big delay in processing us and finding our reservation. They had us pay at the front desk so I will be checking the credit card bill. This was a very nice resort, though my husband and I don't gravitate towards resorts.

Cons: I really have no complaints. Our AC was not working at one point but I called the front desk and it was fixed within the hour. Great hotel!
6.0 Good
Pros: Room was spacious and clean, easily accommodated family of 4 adults. The staff was pleasant and helpful, especially wait staff. Plenty of variety at buffet. The beach was very nice and clean. LOVED hand sanitizer before entering buffet. Free SCUBA lesson.
Cons: The power went out a couple hours several evenings but think that was the entire town. Public bathrooms near the pool were often dirty. Too many time share reps stalking us. Night were super boring, nothing to do! Need evening activities: bingo or shows?

Pros: The staff was very courteous and accommodating.
Cons: As soon as I got there I was told I would not be staying at the crown residence. Instead I was moved to the tropical garden area and was told it was an upgrade, which it wasn't. It was actually a downgrade.I was never told the exact reason for the move.

8.2 Excellent
Pros: The food and drinks were great. The location is nice. I was there during the spring break, so, it was rather crowded but not that bad - you could find a bed on the beach. The stuff was very helpful and friendly. The room itself was quite clean and comfortable.
Cons: Building are rather old and dated. Air conditioner in my room was dripping condensate on the floor - had to throw there a towel. The TV worked but picture quality was so-so.

Pros: All inclusive Comfortable A lot to do Good food Great staff
Cons: The layout of the property, had to be going up and down the stairs almost all day everyday. A better map would help to know where to go.
