I liked the decor. It was cute. The elevator was super small and sketchy. I rode in it once - that was enough. It smelled wonky in our room. Very stale and musty. I had trouble finding the towels (they were in a box on the floor of the bedroom). The Kleenex box was left empty. The tvs all needed to be programmed and didn’t work until staff came in at 9am that could fix them. I woke up to a cockroach sitting by my head. When we told the manager about the roach so they could take care of it He acted like we were trying to get out of paying for the room. he told us we could call the booking website and get our resort fee refunded. (A whole whopping 35$ so I won’t bother.) The dining room is the front lobby and is very crowded in the morning. The free breakfast is served there or outside . We got disposable silverware and cups for our coffee while the “paying folks” got real coffee mugs. The courtesy snacks that were left for us was a 2pack of Oreo cookies and 3 cans of soda. The pictures look good online but the experience itself was lacking.
Pros. Very good value for location
Cons. The room needs a few more amenities such as a night table on both sides of the bed so that each guest can place their phone and necessities on their own side. Perhaps a microwave and coffee machine in the room would have been helpful. A better Shower door to avoid soaking the floor outside of the shower and some towel bars to hang up your wet towels since room service is limited due to Covid-19. Better explanation of parking and valet service restrictions due to COVID-19 and Miami Beach city curfew. Valet parking was too expensive and not worth its value at all. Getting Uber would have cost less and been less stressful than the total cost of car rental and parking. Hotel management should be aware of this and should communicate this to guests. At least being informed would have helped us make a better choice. Otherwise the Cavalier was a quaint, whimsical hotel with more of a bed and breakfast room feel. Very Art Deco and enjoyable to stay at. Lastly, it’s location across the street from the beach is excellent!
Pros. EXCELLENT location and cool design. The free breakfast was tasty and the extra amenities like beach towels and chairs were nice. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons. The room was warm even with the AC on full blast, and the sheets were quite scratchy. Unfortunately the worst part was the noise level- an older building, all hard floors, and no rugs are not a great combination.
Cons. We were surprised with a $200 deposit that took away from our spending money. Our room had already been paid for. The deposit is still pending in our bank account now. It caught us very off guard and we didn't like that.
Pros. Location is fantastic. Right across from the part and the beach.Lots of great restaurants almost next door. Great lobby with fun, quirky decor.Fun design in the room. Excellent lighting in the room.Coffee and tea in the lobby.
Cons. Try for a room on the north side. All rooms are on the side, but the ones on the south look out on the crumbling wall of the hotel next door. Only very basic amenities, one small piece of soap, shampoo and conditioner. Have to get up and turn out the lights from the wall switch. No switch near the bed. OK for one night, but wouldn't want to spend a more time there. Only one chair in the room.
Pros. Probably location
Cons. Breakfast was not what I expected
Cons. It was terrible don't stay here
