Nice place nice people very pleasant stay, will do it again. Toilet area was far too small.
Great location-great views, friendly staff, breakfast was excellent. Midas restaurant next door excellent Shower was smelly - probably because the room had not been used for a while- this meant that the room was initially smelly until we aired it.
rooms are very nice, views from room are beautiful, food is excellent, great location I have stayed twice and both times there was a faint sewer smell coming out of the shower. They need to fix that!
This hotel is right in the middle of everything so it is easy to walk to other bars and restaurants in the area
Fantastic big rooms with a big bath next to the window with see view. We just booked one night and because the room was so nice, we decided to stay in the room and order room service. Small detail: the food of the restaurant was a little overpriced.
We only stayed overnight but it was very quiet and had a spectacular view. It had no tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Excellent design and ergonomics. Nothing to say on this
Room was modern and well kept. The room was too hot and no a/c on yet. Also the bathroom was part of the room which was inconvenient with three people in the room.
No pool or bathing terrace
Extremely modern luxurious rooms with lovely views.
Staff very good and quick to respond to requests, room very clean and well laid out and was very well supplied with items that are required for a short stay The lack of free parking
the location to the border of gibraltar only 5 mins drive to the border great location no complaints
Total luxury. There was so much for your money including a free minibar and fabulour balcony doors to view the Gibraltar rock. loved it! The town is kind of creepy but nothing against the hotel.
The room was much larger than we expected and the intrnet access was excellent and only cost €12 for 24 hours. No
The staff were outstanding and went out of their way to help us - very welcome as we were travelling with a 3 week old baby The restaurant menu was fairly limited and there were no alternatives close by
Comfort Service No dislike
Free mini-bar was very nice, also the furnishings were very new, modern and clean.
Room was clean and recently remodeled. Had decent view of the water. Parking on the street was free. Location peripheral to La Linea's center and the border with Gibraltar but we did the walk in about 20min.
Closeness to Gibraltar, easy to find when arriving by car. Comfortable and clean without being spectacular, excellent for a night or two. No
The room was clean, modern and very comfortable and I had a pleasant view with two french windows. Its about a twenty minute walk to the border if you are catching a flight from Gibraltar airport or going shopping and I enjoyed the Aqa restaurant nearby. I would stay here again. Some international tv channels would have been good. Other than that no complaints.
A well placed very clean hotel with ample space in bed and bathroom. A nice touch having a free mini bar refreshed every day at no extra charge. Very good location for ease of access to town, shops, supermarkets, some excellent restaurants, and of course easy access into Gibraltar. A superb place to stay for either short or longer duration. (booked in for 3 days first week in June 2007) One small drawback, the glass bathroom door was not full length, was not lockable, and could easily be swung either way, not catering for privacy.
Swimming Pool We were given a smokers room (very strong smoke smell) and the air conditioning did not work.
Extremely peaceful location. Our room overlooked the beautiful garden. The cleanliness of room and bathroom at all times. Staff courteous and friendly. No tea or coffee making facility in the room, and the inablity to hang a dress properly as the wardrobe was too short.
A very nice hotel, tastefully decorated You need to put better signposts to find it. 'We circled around for about 20 minutes after we got off the autovia.
Modern, clean, well equipped and nice hotel. Comfort definitely appropriate to 4 stars. Large, spacious lot at the back of hotel. Clean and big swimming pool. Staff apart from the restaurant very friendly and eager to help. Accessible amenities. Big car park free of charge. Waiters in hotel restaurant sometimes too self-confident and a bit rude. This was the only drawback of this hotel.
The pool, the food in the restaurant for breakfast
The balcony overlooking the park was very nice. After a long day of travel, sitting out there and watching the sunset made for a perfect end to the day.
Room was spacious and comfortable with a nice balcony. The terrace and garden were lovely after being in busy cities. There was a nice pool but we didn't swim as it was too cold. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. Didn't have any complaints whatsoever.
Just staff because was nice and helpfull. Handy to get to La Linea - just 15 minutes by bus directly from hotel. The rooms must be renovated , there are old and dirty and bathrooms are disgusting!!!! The gym too small and really warm!!! The location it's really bad - 50 minutes walk to the nearest beach - Palmones, very noisy from Motorway and factory.
close to los barrios commercial center, and close to ferry terminal
Since the weather turned bad we missed our stay and there is no refund.
Ciose to the boarder to Gibraltar...3rd time I have stayed...only due to the location The staff are and always have been not helpful...Bitten with insects in room and no Plug -in mosquito available....I asked for the room to be sprayed daily..this did not happen
Within walking distance of Gibraltar, great breakfast with a lot of options, big/well designed hotel. Room had a view of the rock of Gibraltar
Beautiful surroundings. Apartments were spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even though we arrived quite late in the evening. Next to no restaurants or shops within walking distance (although the fact we stayed in November probably didn't help - the area is probably more lively in the summer). Internet access was not very practical, requiring the use of a wired modem that had to be requested from reception with a €50 deposit.
Seperate room and kitchen. environmental cleanliness there was no internet availability. These days and times, most people need internet access. There was no DVD players in the rooms. Hot water only last for one shower. If you have more than one guest, someone will have a cold shower. Also, there was no English channels on the television. This is an area of many English speaking people. Should have at least one English news channel or movie channel.
weather,Alcaidesa beach sofa bed was terribly uncomfortable and not worth the price.Staff had no knowledge about local area/facilities. TV choice in English was poor. Room/bathroom not as clean as it could have been.
Facilities FAr from town, no market near by,need own car,
the room very confortable and clean, the view to the swimming pool...
Leaving it ! Location. Unless a golfer, absolutely nothing to do, no shops, bars etc. I actually booked and paid for 2 nights. Only stayed one. What more need I say
We picked this hotel because of its location. A quiet area within 10 minutes of Gibraltar. Great location for views of the Rock and across the straits to Africa. Situated on a half completed large urbanisation
apartament was very nice, just kitchen was empty, no glasses, no plates and s.o. apartament is enough big, has working airconditioning and very nice terrasse. but without view on Gibraltar as it is stated on the website. everything clean. services depend very stong on person on the reception, when we arrived, young receptionist was unhappy to give us at least 2 glasses (we were told that reservation is only for room, not for apartment - no difference on booking.com), in the morning there was extremely friendly woman, who gave us mininotebook for using internet, printed what we needed and served coffee for free. hotel is quite far from any city, located in closed residence with golf and other services. good for summer holiday
Bathroom Heat How to find it. A few signs or provision of GPS coordinates would be very helpful.
Great value for money. Lots of space. Not easy to find. GPS could not find.
Excellent accomodation Better bar & restaurant facilities would benefit this hotel
we stayed for a night on the way from Tarifa to Granada. It was ok, but there could be a pool bar open to have a late drink. It's not so easy to find. We asked at a kiosk and they guided us.
Very nice room, public parking next to the hotel, pool, good location, helpful and efficient staff Breakfast was good but a bit disappointing for a 4-star hotel
comfort easy excess unclear check in time booking.com stated 12pm to 3 pm arrived 1pm rooms not ready but did not cause major problem all rooms ready within 1 hour.
good the pillow is not confortable I need more
the recepionists smiled nicely the pool cuold be closed an hour later
It is a new hotel with new facilities!
nice very comfortable new hotel quite poor breakfast, matching more 2 star hotel standards
The ease of finding the hotel and getting to all the sightseeing locations.
Very clean, very nice rooms, excellent staff
The hotel and the room were absolutely beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. The breakfast was very good -- a spread of jamon and cheese, jams, breads, muffins, etc. The hotel was quite difficult to find, and contrary to our expectations, it was not up the mountain and within the walls of the old castle. It was at the bottom of the mountain just off of a roundabout. We drove all the way up the mountain (about 15 minutes of switchbacks) before finding this out. If you are staying here to explore the tiny village of Castellar within the castle walls, just be aware that this hotel is about a 15 minute drive away.
The hotel staff were excellent - very professional. The interior decoration of the Hotel wassuperb. The rooms were clean and spacious - very nice. They were three functions on the second Saturday of our stay, but we were NOT given prior notification of these events - which occupied the WHOLE hotel services and parking. This left us without parking space; which we had had all during the week, and the possiblility of eating in the restaurant - until we complained. Prior Notification should have be given to avoid upsetting existing guests.
breakfast & lobby area are very nice Difficult to find the hotel because there is no signboard on the hotel building. You don't feel like you have reached to your targeted hotel even if you are standing in front of the hotel compund.
Very well designed and a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very helpful.and we had a very pleasant stay
Room cool and comfortable. Problem with safe which was fixed immediately.
The hotel was the best of those that we stayed in Spain. A jewel on the outside and inside. Beautiful room, great restaurant, Desing and spectacular architecture. Excellent desserts (6 euros), very good sherry (2 euro), breakfast just right. Clean pool. Very quiet and good taste. Necessarily state here if you arrive in the area, just a few minutes to Gibraltar.
The overall quality of the hotel was excellent. Staff were friendly, service was very good. Decor was fresh and modern but cosy at the same time. Would have been helpful if more of the staff spoke a bit of English. Need more loungers by the pool.
hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, food in the restaurant was ecxellent staff very helpful
Clean rooms, good restaurant, fairly close to Tarifa and Gilbraltar Location was in middle of construction zone. Could not walk anywhere from hotel, so car is necessary. Nothing to do in town it was located.
Open wood burning fire place, Friendly and helpful staff, Internet and Wi-Fi availability in rooms. King size Double bed, easy parking. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room
A very unique hotel. Not easy to compare with a regular hotel because it is actually still a historical setting with a few modern facilities. The cottages are quite practical for staying a longer time as long as you come prepared with all the groceries.
astonishing location and atmosphere
Absolutely beautiful setting. Rooms were musty, should have been aired out. Lack of view from rooms was sad. And it would have helped to have more activities nearby. I couldn't believe there were no hiking trails around the lake.
Castle and surroundings, "smell of the Middle Ages" Parking places is limited. Hard to carry heavy bags up to the castle from parking - there were cobbelstone road !!!!
The location on top of a hill - an old castle with one part used as a hotel and I stayed for a second visit, as well, in one of the just slightly renovated houses of the small town enclosed by the castle walls.
Amazing location and reasonably priced Our room was very dirty - the toilet was filthy and 1 bed smelled of urine!!
Lovely room, new hotel, beautiful location.
The hotel was in walking distance to gibralter & the town of la linear We had to ask for more blankets as the room was cold & could not get the heating working on the air con
Good value for money accomodation - could have used a/c but didn't realise it would be such a hot day, survived anyway! Parking can sometimes be difficult but persevere and you eventually get one
Nothing except for it was right by the Gibraltar boarder Where do we start, Its easier to tell you the good points!! It was by the boarder and the water in the shower was ok!!.. As for the bad bits here we go. The parking was very poor, The front sign of the hotel was all smashed, had to carry the prams up 20 stairs to first lift got in the lift to go to the 1st floor arrived there and had to walk up another 10 stairs to get to our room, were went to our room and the children took there shoes off within 2 mins there feet were black!! We then filled the sink with water to keep the babies bottles in with 5 mins the water was all over the floor, we then put the children to bed and went to close the window to stop mosquitos from coming in but the window would not fit in the frame! Much more to say!!
Only stayed there because cheaper and easier than on Gibraltar. Easy to get to the Rock and back. Close to cafes. Very basic 'bed for the night' only place. Very spartan room with mossies.
Clean, pleasant and helpful staff
Location close to Gibraltar and Car Hire, with shops & cafes nearby Quite cheap Very noisy. Other guests were noisy until very late and again early in the morning. Worse still, across the road were the grounds of some public building and throughout the night, from 9pm till 7am there were loud noises reminiscent of a peacock calling but probably human. Therefore I was only able to sleep for 4 hours and after waking at 3.30 am I was unable to sleep again because of this noise.
No facilities for making a hot drink, and no breakfast.
Inexpensive, clean, hot water Beds uncomfortable, no catering facilities
