On the cusp of the holiday season, November is the time to travel in peace. As December arrives, so do the high prices and maddening crowds that empty wallets and fill destinations. Happily, finding warm places to visit in November isn’t hard.

Most of the US is pretty chilly by now, with the exception of a few warm coastal spots, especially Florida. The same can be said for much of Europe. Best then is to look for guaranteed hot spots. From the Middle East to the Far East, here’s where it’s hot in November.

Warm places to visit in November in the US and Mexico.

KAYAK data highlights Cancún as a hot spot outside of the US in North America for fall warmth. If the town’s high prices and crowds aren’t your bag, Mexico has plenty of other enticing destinations.

I love the rough-edged buzz of Ensenada on the Baja peninsula and the sleepy village of Nexpa for its fall surf. Further afield, I’ve spent the last few Novembers in the Dominican Republic road-tripping its rugged north coast and the amazing Samaná Province.

1. Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

A boulder-strewn beach lined with towering palm trees.
Rows of colourful traditional townhouses with arched doors and windows.
A man stands on a beach under a ring-like rock formation.
  • Average November temperature: 77°F

Mexico’s east coast tourism may be dominated by the glitz and glamor of Cancún but I prefer something more low-key. On Mexico’s Pacific coast the temperatures are about the same but the vibe is very different.

The hub is Puerto Vallarta, blessed with gorgeous beaches, fashionable restaurants and the buzzing malecón (boardwalk). Average high temperatures are a toasty 90°F, days are long and bright, and the tourists flock. As such, prices are high with hotels averaging $209 a night.

For something less polished and developed, join the boho crowd in nearby Sayulita. This once-tranquil fishing village has transformed into a hippie-go-lucky hangout for surfers and bohemians.

Sayulita is a designated Pueblo Mágico, or a Magic Town, a name awarded only to communities that maintain their original architecture, traditions and culture. In place of giant hotels and big brands, you’ll find locally-owned guesthouses and colorful boutiques. Rickety surf shops, good restaurants and great al pastor stands line the streets.

2. Key West, Florida

Waterfront houses concealed in the lush palm trees on the shore along the tranquil turquoise sea.
  • Average November temperature: 75°F

For late fall sun and warm temperatures in the US, Florida is your go-to state (on the mainland, at least.) In Key West, warm, dry days are the November norm. Average highs reach 81°F with just a couple of inches of rain throughout the month.

It’s the end of hurricane season, although storms are hit-and-miss. Key West is particularly exposed, so if you plan a trip, get adequate cancellation insurance and prepare to be flexible. This means you’ll often find deals on places to stay, although average hotel prices are still high at $347 a night.

Key West’s remote geography has given It a delightfully eccentric and tropical feel. At only seven square miles, it’s small enough to cover over a warm weekend getaway. Expect long walks on deserted beaches and piles of seafood.

The best warm places to visit in November in Asia.

Asia is undoubtedly the focal point for where is hot in November. My picks cover five countries and wildly different landscapes. Temperatures are consistently high and although rain is common, it tends to come in short, heavy bursts. Check KAYAK data for other Asian hotspots like Kuala Lumpur and Cebu City.

3. Hong Kong

A bustling street produce market, abutted by a vibrant assortment of buildings.
A Chinese garden with a Zi Wu bridge over a pond next to a pavilion, with tall buildings in the backdrop.
  • Average November temperature: 72°F

Hong Kong is temperate and dry in November. Temperatures average 72°F and peak around 75°, leaving a constant, comfortable warmth. With almost zero rain, it’s ideal weather to take advantage of Hong Kong’s many wonders – natural and manmade.

The city is an icon, its skyline among the most skyscraping and recognizable of any. Its streets buzz with life 24/7, a dazzling cultural mix of east and west – Mandarin, Cantonese and British.

Take a stroll along Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade for awesome skyline views. Go in the evening to see the extraordinary nightly Symphony of Lights extravaganza. For the absolute best city panorama, ride the iconic Peak Tram up to Victoria Peak and hit the trails. The abundance of nature offers a startling contrast to the urban sprawl below.

4. Singapore

An enormous conservatory filled with towering trees and vibrant flower beds.

  • Average November temperature: 81°F

Tropical Asia is hot and wet all the time, and Singapore’s November climate is no exception. Average temperatures hover around 81°F, but highs average a sweltering 86°F. Drenching humidity and regular downpours are just part of the megacity-state’s exotic charm, though – and it’s built to handle it.

A skyline straight out of the movies houses some seriously luxe hotels. Stay at the enormous Marina Bay Sands and swim in one of the world’s highest rooftop infinity pools. Worth the price of admission for the views alone. Or stay and drink Singapore Slings in 19th century elegance at the historic Raffles.

When the rains fall, brush up on your culture at the Asian Civilisations Museum and Peranakan Museum, or shop yourself silly on Orchard Road. It’s when the skies clear that Singapore really shines though. The city’s developing green spaces have rightly amazed the world in recent years. None more so than its already famed Botanic Gardens and the mind-bending Gardens by the Bay.

5. Thailand

A lone man sits in a wooden sun chair with a straw hut umbrella on the white sand shore by the blue sea at sunrise.
  • Average November temperature (Bangkok): 81°F

Bangkok sits atop the KAYAK data for warm places to visit in November, with Chiang Mai and Phuket City also featured. But if a big city isn’t what you’re after, look south some 140 miles to the coastal town of Hua Hin. Thailand’s original beach resort is a fine balance between beach escape and city break.

Much of the prime city beachfront is occupied by luxe hotels, from the excellent Anantara to my favorite, the eye-wateringly expensive Chiva Som. If your budget doesn’t stretch to such highs, don’t fret. There are lots of lovely, far less expensive options available. And the beaches of nearby Hat Sai Noi and Hat Sai Yai are prettier and more atmospheric.

In the city, the markets are the place to be. Chatsila Night Market is popular for its eating, from tasty street food to gourmet meals, but is tourist central. Cicada Market offers a much more authentic experience.

A gathering of local artisans, it’s relaxed and focused as opposed to the chaotic neon-lit free for all of many Asian markets. Wander slowly and engage with the locals selling homemade wares. It’s usually sountracked by buskers and each evening around 8.30 pm, live music hits the stage.

6. Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

The city skyline illuminated against the clear pinkish-blue sky alongside the broad tranquil river.
A building with pillared windows, orange roofs, and clock tower in front a park with curated gardens.
  • Average November temperature: 81°F

Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam’s modern metropolis. A city weighted by history, it has emerged as a commercial and cultural powerhouse that defines a new Vietnamese identity. Set foot on its hectic streets and it’s impossible not to get swept along for the ride.

Although KAYAK data shows flight prices north of $900, the average hotel price is just $59 a night. For somewhere hot and cheap, November is a great time to visit – and there’s little to no rain.

Take things slow where you can. HCMC is full of contrasts, quiet spaces of reflection amid the roaring motorcycle mayhem. The War Remnants Museum gives a somber and eye-opening context to the Vietnam War. Pass by the Reunification Palace whose gates were famously breached by a North Vietnamese tank – the photo of which came to represent the fall of Saigon.

For authentic street food, finish your city walk in District 4. A web of narrow lanes, market stalls and kerbside cooks, dip in at your pleasure and trust the local crowds. They always know where’s best.

7. Manila, Philippines

An ancient building's patio with potted plants surrounding the fountain and along the archway beneath the stairs.
Pristine white beach along a grove of palm trees with tour boats floating on crystal-clear waters.
Aerial view of a modern city with towering skyscrapers.
  • Average November temperature: 81°F

The Philippines’ capital city is among the most overlooked of Asia’s many metropolises. Perhaps considered not as user-friendly as the likes of Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur (both on the KAYAK data list of best warm places to visit in November), it has so much going for it.

Never is that truer than in November, when it emerges from the wet season with warm, bright, dry days. Historic, walled-off Intramuros for ancient churches, serene parks and hipster cafés. Narrow, chaotic Binondo for street eats. Ultra modern Bonifacio Global City (BGC) for a glimpse into the future.

And when you’re done with the city hubbub, Manila is the launch point to myriad gorgeous islands. Try Siargao for a warm weekend getaway with deserted beaches, world-class surf and lovely resorts.

The best warm places to visit in November around the world.

In November, spring is turning into summer on the other side of the world. KAYAK data points to everywhere from South America to the Saudi Arabian peninsula for late season sun.

8. Salvador da Bahia, Brazil

A woman laughing while wearing a white top and a colourful scarf wrapped over her braided hair.
People stroll across a downhill street lined with colourful adjacent buildings.
  • Average November temperature: 79°F

Portugal’s ancient colonial capital is an intoxicating, pulsating, tropical delight. In November, average temperatures hover a shade below 80°F with highs regularly into the mid 80s – ideal for some winter tanning on its many beaches.

Its beautiful coast is undoubtedly a major draw, but Salvador’s true magic lies in its unique Afro-Brazilian community. Steeped in the culture of the enslaved people brought from Africa, it’s an authentic microcosm of religion and festivals, music and dance, caipirinhas and capoeira.

Stay in the historic Pelourinho neighborhood. Pack your beach gear and dancing shoes. Hit the golden beaches and cobbled streets for a sultry, sumptuous November adventure.

9. Dubai, UAE

A man-made island shaped like a palm tree with residential houses, hotels, resorts, business establishments, and waterparks.
  • Average November temperature: 75°F

The UAE’s city of gold is an oasis of technology and opulence in the middle of the desert. It’s also a beacon of Arabic culture and entertainment. Home to the biggest and the best of everything, Dubai is the perfect temperature in November. The swelter of summer has passed – temperatures peak at 85°F but average a more agreeable 75°. Rain is not a part of the conversation.

With a budget most cities can only dream of, its skyscrapers and parks are the definition of excess. Yet nothing is as spectacular as the Museum of the Future. A mind-bending showcase of modern architecture, step inside and you can travel to the moon and gaze back on Earth.

When it comes to accommodation, you’re spoiled for choice. If you really want to splurge for the holiday season, there’s only one address: Atlantis The Royal. It bills itself as the “most ultra luxury experiential resort in the world”. You’d be hard pressed to argue.

10. Denpasar, Indonesia

A woman stands in the middle of the ruins of a temple with an open roof and arched columns, surrounded by lush landscapes and colourful flowers.
  • Average November temperature: 82°F

Bali has long been the poster child for the tropical island idyll, despite recent problems with overtourism. At its heart, Denpasar is the engine driving it forward. A chaotic, enticing, exciting city year round, November is a great time to see its more serene side.

This is the start of the wet season. Temperatures and humidity are high and showers frequent but, crucially, short. The rest of the time, it’s blue skies and beach weather. Landscapes never look more vibrant, beaches are quieter and the city’s tree-lined streets more accessible.

Where is hot and cheap in November?

Warm places to visit in November in the US are few and far between, especially with a budget price. KAYAK data shows Florida is the hottest and cheapest with Fort Lauderdale and Miami averaging in the low 70s and hotel prices under $200 a night.

It’s Asia that offers the best hot and cheap vacation in November though. Thailand and The Philippines in particular swelter, their capital cities both averaging 81°F. Hotel rooms for the former are below $100 and for the latter below $50. Flights to each cost around $950. Need help making a decision? Try KAYAK Explore.
