Pros: Owners & her daughter were just lovely, is more of a B&B by the sea feel, we'll be stating here again :-)
We knew it was not en-suite accommodation but it suited our purpose in dropping our son at university. Standard of shared bathroom however was not great and we probably won't stay here in the future.
Pros: Location is great and the staff/owners very friendly.
Cons: Shared bathroom not great - hotel full so sometimes had to wait for use and unfortunately not in the best condition! Also as hotel was full and everyone had cars, parking was a problem but everyone managed.
We loved the hotel and the town. It's a short walk from the train station, and there are lots of breakfast places and pubs nearby. (Ceasar's Cafe is an especially nice spot for breakfast). We were in what looks like a new wing, where everything was new, of high quality, and thoughtfully put together. There was even a box of chocolates and bottled water waiting for us.
Pros: The room was large and airy. The queen-size bed was extremely comfortable, terry robes were in the closet, the shower was excellent. The staff was very accommodating, offering fantastic help when we had car trouble. A plus: a laundromat right on site.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like, but a few small additions would make a stay a little better: a shelf in the shower to hold shampoo, etc., and an information booklet in the room with recommendations, advice, and the wifi password.

Pros: The room was clean and was big enough not to get under each others feet. The views whilst sat in the window were very pleaseant. looking out over the bay
Cons: The breakfast was very nice but was a bit early for a relaxing weekend away, latest time was 08.45
Pros: the view of the sea from the bedroom
Cons: breakfast in the bar was basic I expected better as the bar meals were excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: Peope hanging around the entrance smoking. The reception being part of the pub counter, this would be better seperate.
Pros: The staff were most helpful
Cons: The bathroom was adequate
Pros: Proximity to Aberystwyth's shops, pubs and restaurants. Recently recarpeted throughout - rooms, staircases and corridors. Fantastic panoramic views of Cardigan Bay from front rooms. Breakfasts. Friendly, approachable staff.
Cons: As mentioned, it has been recarpeted throughout, but a lick of paint here and there wouldn't go amiss.
Pros: The view of the sea from the bar.Relaxed atmosphere at the hotel.Good service with friendly staff.
Cons: Could do with a little refiurbishment.
Pros: The view from the bedrooms was superb and the bedding was spotless.
Cons: The carpets were dirty and it is not appropriate to have carpeting in a bathroom. Needs to be ripped out. There was also nowhere to hang up towels
Pros: Close to the sea/town and surprisingly quiet given that there is a busy pub on the ground floor. Room allocated was pleasantly large with decent light and a very comfortable bed. Linen/towels perfectly clean, breakfast was freshly cooked and lovely. Staff encountered were all very friendly.
Cons: Room, whilst clean, was a little tatty but still perfectly functional. To be fair I didn't pay for luxury and what I got was well worth the money.
Pros: Hotel staff made an effort to find a vegetarian breakfast option. Breakfast was excellent. Bedding was spotlessly clean and beds comfortable. Spectacular view. Good sized rom.
Cons: Room was shabby with unmatching furniture. Carpet in bathroom with stains around toilet. Room was boiling hot and we couldn't open the window or turn the radiator down. The spotless bedding to replace ours was left on the grubby carpet outside our room. Whole room needed some tlc. I was disappointed that after reading students receive 10% discount on a stay, (my daughter also stayed and is a student) when I enquired no-one was available to give me the discount.

Cons: The information about parking was not correct.
Pros: Very friendly owners, excellent breakfast, very close to all that Aber has to offer.
Cons: Parking! If you are lucky you may get within 100 yards (maybe even outside at weekends) - if you're unlucky you may not be able to park anywhere near close!
Pros: Proprietor was friendly and ameniable and very helpful when we complained. The breakfasts were good. Free Broadband. Centrally located. Good parking.
Cons: We stayed in the annexed portion - Musty Smell in House -In Room Mismatched dated decor - No cupboard for clothes and no small fridge supplied - no bedside lamps - television remote dodgy - television minute and set very high on the wall- Bathrooms (not en suite) - Shared but Not cleaned on a daily basis.. only marginal improvement after complaints
Pros: Nothing too much trouble for the guests, both by facilities and information. Very pleasant attitude and attention. Breakfasts extremely enjoyable.

When visiting Aberystwyth, George Borrow Hotel is a great choice to consider. Guests looking for a bite to eat can check out the restaurant, and the 2 bars/lounges are nice spots to grab a drink at the end of the day.
Pros: The room was well equipped as it had a microwave, fridge and tv with full freeview channels.
Cons: The rooms were clean and fully serviced for our arrival but one was not touched thereafter. As we were we only staying 2 nights, it was not a major problem.
Pros: I liked the spacious rooms, especially as I am severely disabled.
Cons: I was upset at the reception that I was told that I had not paid my bill, & held up by 15 mins as he ignored us by continuing with another phone call. Very poor service in the bar,
Pros: We had large, comfortable, clean rooms and a very good, prompt breakfast
Pros: Staff were pleasant and helpful and the food was good
Cons: Hotel not one i would normally chose because all other hotels in main town were booked up. However, if i was looking for a golfing trip this would be ideal. Would also be ideal for family base if wanting to have days out.
Pros: Room was warm, large, clean & comfortable. Great power shower.Pool was warm too
Cons: Restaurant was not open so had to eat in the bar. Not great! Bar staff were helpful but vague & had little idea of how to treat guests. Food was adequate - plenty of it but bland. Breakfast was a quiet affair. Ok for cooked breakfast eaters.Coissants were warm tho & lovely. Fresh fruit & cereal - again, just looked plain and rather boring. Room was in a block - the pool, bar, reception was across the car park. ok if not raining or worse! Asked for a newspaper but was told there were none, not even at Reception. Found some magazines- some dated 2003!.a golfing place then. a place for those looking for walking in the valleys. Not a great place to stay if one has to look reasonable the next morning for work. Oh & no mob signal... at all!
Pros: Quiet and peaceful, nice big room with sofa and some kitchen facilities - would be ideal for a long stay. Cheap and cheerful pub style food which was good value. Reasonable bar prices. Good cooked breakfast.
Cons: It is a caravan holiday village, with hotel chalets, set up with golf in mind. I am a business traveller. There is no phone in the rooms, no mobile phone signal at all, nowhere to plug in a laptop, breakfast isn't until 8.30(!) and the pool isn't available until 10am for a morning swim. Great for golfers and holiday makers but not the right place for a working person staying one night.
Pros: Food ,Room Facilities
Pros: Quite loaction.
Pros: many things, very quite location, staff very good , i also have booked to go back to this hotel next month
Cons: pool and gym should have been inc in costings
Pros: Large clean and well equipped rooms. thoughtful and helpful staff Use of leisure facilities Decent food , very reasonable price.

Pros: Wonderful location on the seafront and the staff, particularly the receptionists and the barman were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Unfortunately the hotel is very dated and pretty tatty (most of the decor circa 1980 I would imagine) and is badly in need of a major facelift. Food was okish (just about), but the kitchen/service did not seem well organised (wrong food delivered and it took an very long time to come)- shame as the hotel has great potential and has obviously seen better days.
