Hotel Anemomilos

The owner Maria seemed to be on reception almost 24/7 and was very kind. She offered to loan me things when my luggage was delayed 24 hours. I arrived very early on an Athens flight but Maria had my room ready an hour before normal check in time which was much appreciated. There was also a mis-understanding of arrival time which meant I had to take a €15 taxi from the airport (I would probably walk next time - it’s not that far), but because of that Maria drove me in her personal car to the port when I left. Really above and beyond service. Thank you! The room size was huge & I liked that the small but perfectly formed balcony wasn’t overlooked & quite private. The bed was so comfortable I wanted to bring it home! I had room 22 which is exactly as on the website. Super well equipped kitchen with everything you could need and a welcome bottle of water & biscuits. I only used the pool area for a couple hours. Very pleasant & quiet but bracing water - the sea was also chilly. Breakfast was a good choice with freshly cooked bacon/eggs - again by Maria! - and is taken around the pool area but I was a bit hassled by wasps so only did that twice - preferring to please myself on my balcony. There’s a couple of small supermarkets very close - along with a bus stop - but a slightly bigger one with a fabulous bakery just a little further around the road. The location is simply amazing! Less than 100 mtrs to possibly the clearest water in Greece and an organised but low key beach and some stunning beach bars & restaurants. It’s the best of all worlds being on the edge of Agia Anna & only 10 mins walk to Agios Prokopios. The wide expanse of Plaka beach and further south is also very walkable - particularly taking in the church & wooden walkway around the bay. The bus is €1.80 to stunning Naxos Town running until very late. It’s also easy to book tours at the Art Hotel a few mins walk away.

Very very minor points but the bathroom shower could do with a bit of a de-scale but that’s not a complaint - just an observation. The wind was really strong the first few days & this meant quite a noisy night with something rattling from what sounded like the roof. Although to be fair, I’m a very light sleeper. Obviously difficult to control that but take earplugs in case as it’s not uncommon for these islands to get gusty winds. You can also buy large pegs for your beach towel locally!

Breakfast was wonderful and delicious. It was convenient and nice to eat outside. They were very accommodating with food requests.

Don't have too much to say about things we didn't like. It was an ideal stay for us.

Wow! What an amazing hotel. Just what we were looking for. Beautiful location, peaceful, lovely atmosphere. Our room was perfect, the pool area very relaxing, the facilities were excellent, everything was so clean and tidy. Maria was an excellent host, so helpful and polite in every way and provided a varied and filling breakfast including delicious freshly cooked omlettes. I wouldn't change a thing and will not hesitate to return as well as recommended this gem of a hotel to others. Thank you Anemomilos.
