8.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Nicely renovated.
Cons: Service was ok. Miss the service touches from the St. Regis. Seemed understaffed at front desk. Breakfast at Aveo restaurant overpriced and ok, not wow. Was offered a 'flash sale' upgrade at check in which felt awkward for a luxury hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Monarch Beach Resort has a fabulous location at the northern end of Dana Point and right before Lagunna Beach. We have been here three times since December 2018 and it is only May 2019. Our grand daughter loves this place as does my wife and myself. Their restaurant Bourbon Steak is usually rated the top restaurant in Orange County. Their personal tram takes you to and from the beach. the beach is stunning in it's beauty. A perfect hotel for those used to perfection.
Cons: It was perfect for us.
6.2 Good
Pros: The location and the facilities
Cons: The service was ounbecoming a four-star hotel. I’ve had better service at Holiday Inn’s or other 3 star motels.
8.5 Excellent
Cons: I think the hotel is nice, but the miraval spa portion is very expensive with not many options. i had hoped it would have more classes, and be a bit spa like. Also, the website had a third night free deal, but they just increased the prices on the first two nights. It felt like false advertising.
6.2 Good
Cons: The only good restaurant was closed for a private party and there was only one other option for dinner. The food was not very good and way over priced. The advertise tacos available at the pool when in fact there are no tacos at the pool.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed the hotel because the location is spectacular and dana harbor is nearby. This is a great weekend getaway because of the numerous shops and restaurants as well as activities that people could enjoy! I love the options of renting kayaks, paddle boats and paddle boarding. People can even go whale watching.
Cons: I wishes the pools were open later, at least till 10:00 pm ( to swim ). I also wish the trees in the park didn't block the view of the harbor, but I suspect that's a city thing. I just remember about 10 years ago a friend of mine married at the hotel. I remembered the spectacular view of the boats sailing in the background . The trees from lantern park block the view now.
7.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Extra daily resort fee. No slippers or free bottled water for Marriott member. Valet parking not answering phone. Only valet parking available. Bathroom cabinetry old and worn out. Poor water pressure for shower.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful view, great amenities.
Cons: Mattress not as comfortable as you'd expect from a resort of this caliber.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thank you to Nicole at the front desk. Awesome Babymoon.
6.5 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Resort fee. Valet parking not answering phone. No alternative for overnight parking besides valet of $37/night. No free bottled water for Marriott silver member, nor included in resort fee. No refrigerator. No slippers.
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: The location was nice.
Cons: Don't book this room thinking you will be getting the price you see. It will be about $100 more a night than the listed price. There is an extra fee for everything. I am just waiting for the 2 weeks after checkout fee because I am sure it's coming.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: the overall facility was nice. clean. staff was amazing.
Cons: their main restaurant did not have a full menu. just basics. the food was barely average.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like a customer service. Great service. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We will come back.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a beautiful hotel perfect for weddings and events. I was very happy with the upgrade to an executive suite.
Cons: It's a first come first serve policy for free 2 hour bike rentals but I wish they had more than two smaller bikes out of the several bikes they had.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have religiously stayed at this Laguna Cliff Marriott for close to 20 years . But on several occasions , this last trip was the worst , where your check out experience ruins the wonderful memories of the entire stay . Most customers would never come back , but the reason I keep coming back only to encounter check out nightmares . For instance . I book my room there through Kyyack who send my reservation and payment on to Expedia , who email me my confirmation number and itenerary for my 2 nights. Because of a flight councilation by AA.com I am forced to just move my 2 nights forward 1 day and notify both Expedia and the Laguna Cliff's , and they both confirm no problem no change in rates . So at check out my $159.00 all inclusive rate per night had changed a little less than $900 including my payment to Expedia for one night , and because the airlines had lost my luggage and my money and medicines and all my clothes I didn't have sufficient funds to pay the inflated rate and refused to allow me to pay by check even with my bank president on the phone garrateeing available funds . So I had told the manager I had $300 in cash for an emergency , to which she said use your emergency cash or don't leave the property . So I left with $25 dollars to get to San Jose to meet with Ebay and then back to LA for my flight home . I was able to sell my $1200 iPhone for $550 to enable me to have a place to sleep the next night , and in Silicon Valley $550 doesn't get you much of a room . AA.com still has not found my luggage with my billfold medicine , keep in mind I was just recovering for 2 complete hip replacements . So with no money to drive back to LA to turn my car into Hertz and fly home , I was forced to turn my car into Hertz at the San Francisco International Airport which changed my Hotwire rate of $10.95 per day for 6 days into an $895 dollar charge that included the payment I had already paid Hotwire for the entire week . Finally at AA.com's counter I explain I have no options , no money to drive back to LA to fly home and that I pleaded with her to change my ticket at no charge to fly back from San Francisco to home and she reluctantly agreed but only if I took the red eye . I explained I had not eating almost 2 days , she said do you want this deal take it or get out of my line and contact AA.com/Customer Relationships . Next

10.0 Excellent
Pros: location
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The suite was super clean, and the front desk staff was really nice and helpful. The bathroom was huge and nice, and the kitchen was fully equipped.
Cons: The couch in the living room could have been more comfortable, but that is a minor issue.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The proximity to the beach as well as to San Clemente and Dana Point. The facility also provides free beach cruiser and boogie board rentals as well! Nice spacious room also.
Cons: The only thing we didn't like was the check-in process. With one person in front of us it took almost 15 minutes to get checked in. Additionally, the young Hispanic female who checked us in was very cold and unfriendly; she demonstrated zero urgency to help us and appeared to be inconvenicend by having to check us and others in... She never once said 'Welcome' or even gave a single courtesy smile throughout the entire process; for the price the least they can do is provide a proper greeting and make you feel welcome instead of an unwelcomed burden...

6.0 Good
Cons: Noise from street
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast is included. Beds are good enough.
Cons: Almost no water pressure in the shower.... seriously, it's awful. The room smelled like they just spray Febreeze all over the place instead of opening the window every once in a while. The breakfast food was mostly good enough, but nacho cheese inside of an omelette? Such a gross surprise. I was also unplesantly surprised to see that i had to pay $10 a night to park in super tiny spaces.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: How clean the rooms were & the value for the money

9.4 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are clean, and the staff was terrific. The front desk staff and the house cleaning staff were outstanding.
Cons: A little hard to find. A bigger sign near the road would be helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool, awesome bed, enjoyed my stay!
Cons: Couldn't take a bath because it was always draining the water :(
9.4 Excellent
Pros: From check-in to check-out this Holiday Inn exceeded my expectations of what I would expect in a hotel. Guri (excuse the misspelling) at the front desk made my check in process and my stay a 5 star experience. Ian on the Night Audit made the evenings and early mornings exceptionally outstanding and comforting. I will always look recommend and stay at this location after this experience. Thank you all for making my stay so enjoyable.
Cons: The location is a bit strange and off the map. But once located, it is easy to find. One recommendation I would make is to communicate when guests have a late checkout. On several occasions I had a 2pm checkout which was approved and verified with management but yet the house keepers walked in at 11:00-1:00pm. Communication is key in situations such as these.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable and clean. Nice breakfast.
Cons: We forgot some shoes in the closet on a Thursday. I called the next day to ask if they had been found and they said they did not have them. We had to go that way on Friday and stopped in to ask again. Front desk clerk remembered my call and claimed they were still missing. We asked to talk to housekeeping and she found the shoes for us. Don't give up after one call if you forget something. Also, while they claim to be pet friendly, there is no grassy area for them.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Close to Camp Pendleton. My son is a Marine! Close to freeways Clean hotel Continental breakfast was good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the free breakfast - so many tasty options! I also loved that the bath products are Bath & Body Works. The whole place was very clean and quiet; I really loved staying there.
Cons: There isn't a ton of lighting in the bathroom, so it's a little dark while showering. It's not a problem at all but that's my one minor complaint about the room.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: They have the best free breakfast of any place I’ve stayed. Also clean and comfortable rooms, and friendly staff.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really not much to dislike. It was quite, comfortable, close to everything and reasonably priced for the areas.
Cons: The only issue was the jetted tub did not work or hold water the best, which was really a minor nitpick, otherwise it was great.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The price was nice, I liked that they had a light breakfast but this is about it.
Cons: 1st the 2 beds in our room were so hard we didn't get any sleep. I couldn't wait to get home so I could finally sleep. The beds felt as hard as the table in our room. 2nd the air conditioning in our room was out. I was told because it was humid that day that is why the air conditioner was broken. I was so close to driving home that night we stayed. We drove over an hour to stay here and the other 3 ladies with me didn't want to get in the car and drive home Saturday night. When I asked the front desk about the air conditioner and the bed she pretty much said "oh well". In my mind she made me feel like well I got your money and you can leave if you want. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The location is good. The breakfast is good, a lot to chose from. My second day there however, they closed the door 4 mins early and all I wanted was a banana but couldn't get one.
Cons: One of the beds in the room had crumbs when I pulled the the comforter back. The temp is locked so I was cold the whole stay since I couldn't get the heat going. Parking is really limited. I was there for business and checked out at 9:30 am. I left the city at 7pm. Got home and realized I left my keys there. The staff had them yet never attempted to get a hold of me to let me know. That's pretty bad customer service. So I get drive 2 hours each way to go pick them up.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean room at a good price. Breakfast exceeded expectations!
7.4 Good
Pros: Location is close to everything. Staff was great friendly and helpful.
Cons: Rooms were dated. A lot of noise by staff in the morning wanted to sleep was not possible with all the work being done in rooms on both sides of mine.
6.6 Good
Pros: The pool was really nice.
Cons: Rooms are not modern. They overbooked on our class of room so we had to go with an "upgrade". It was a two queen room with a gross jetted tub. We would prefer a king with our infant.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the spacious room and the clean bathroom. The flat screen tv was a nice touch too
Cons: No complaints
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Not much
Cons: left at 9:30am, came back at 1:30, room not touched. Left at 2:00 pm returned at midnite, still dirty I'll never stay there again!!!! House keeping sucked.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Front desk was fine. Very friendly. But they had a problem giving a room.
Cons: Cleaning guys out side. Very rude and make me uncomfortable. They were not friendly and unwelcoming .
6.0 Good
Pros: This hotel has a good location. The side away from the freeway was quiet. Imagine that the side facing the freeway would be noisy.
Cons: This hotel is difficult to get to because of road construction. That's not the hotel's fault. My room had several drawbacks that would have been easy to fix. I told staff about them, but nobody seemed to care: 1) The computer desk was useless because it had no available electrical outlets. How difficult would it have been to put in a lamp with an electrical outlet in the base? 2) The A/C unit was old, noisy, and difficult to control. It blew out the curtains above it. How difficult would it have been to put in a modern thermostat, and a plastic deflector to keep the curtains in place? 3) The microwave was impossible to use on any setting other than full power. 4) The message light on my phone blinked constantly. How difficult would it have been to supply instructions for how to turn it off?
8.0 Excellent
Pros: comfy bed
Cons: bed too tall
4.8 Okay
Pros: location for my needs in this trip to Orange County
Cons: Indifference of staff to several issues. The lights in the hallway to my room were burned out, making for a dark walk to the room. The light over the shower in the bathroom was also burned out. Nothing was done about either issue. No extra signage to aid in entering the property due to road construction. It was very difficult to figure out how to get to the motel from the road.

Dana Point Marina Inn - Dana Point - Building
8.4 Excellent (786 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Few destinations offer quality accommodations and a variety of recreation, entertainment, and scenery like that at Dana Point Marina Inn. The inn is the ideal place for both business and pleasure. Dana Point Marina Inn is in an ideal location in Orange County right on the harbor, just a five-minute walk to Doheny State Beach, and only two blocks from Pacific Coast Highway. Guests can follow the highway south to San Diego or San Clemente, or north to Newport Beach, Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Laguna Beach. The hotel is also fairly close to Legoland, Disneyland, and Knott’s Berry Farm. The Marina Inn features on-site amenities such as a fitness center and outdoor heated pool. Free perks include continental breakfast, parking, and a business center with all the necessities needed to conduct quick business. There isn’t a restaurant on premises, but the inn has special arrangements with area restaurants and may be able to provide discounts. Vacationers and business travelers alike appreciate the many amenities of the luxurious suites and picture postcard harbor view rooms. The standard rooms are also spacious and comfortable with private balconies, refrigerators, hairdryers, air conditioners, and in-room coffeemakers. Some accommodations also feature kitchenettes and sitting areas, as well as fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. While Dana Point, California, is a high-end waterfront destination, there are still budget-friendly options for accommodations that can help travelers visit without breaking the bank.
3.7 Mediocre
Pros: Location
Cons: Bathrooms were really gross, the tub didn’t drain, the shower curtain was tattered, the sink area was just old and had chipped countertop. When I turned AC unit on to access the fan because there was so much humidity in room, black stuff came flying out. The blackout shades are useless because all the balconies have a bright light and it comes shining through. One positive, is that your breakfast lady takes pride in what she does and area is kept clean and well stocked. Hot tub could be wayyyyy warmer as well.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I chose this place because it was close to where I needed to be early the next morning. And because it had a pool and was close to the beach in case I wanted to take a dip. It delivered on all those. The staff was friendly and helpful and the parking lot big enough for me to park my car with trailer while not causing problems for other guests.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Comfortable clean living area. We had fun hanging out on the deck.
Cons: Bathroom definitely needed an upgrade and it wouldn't hurt to clean under the mat in the tub once in a while.
