NH Collection Palacio de Avilés - Avilés - Building
1
9.2 Excellent (2,784 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The NH Collection Palacio de Avilés hotel, formerly known as NH Palacio de Ferrera, was once a 17th century palace and has today been converted into a five-star hotel. The space retains much of its original luxury with high bright windows and a wide stone staircase. The location is also perfect, since you can explore the historic quarter of Avilés on foot or drive to the coast in five minutes. There are 78 spacious rooms at NH Collection Palacio de Avilés, each decorated in an elegant style with ornate details, yet modern textures and color schemes. The luxurious mattresses and pillow menus ensure a perfect night’s sleep for our guests, while free Wi-Fi will allow you to stay connected throughout your stay. Classic touches, like original 17th century furniture, are complimented by modern features, such as rain-effect showers and Nespresso machines. We have a gym where you can unwind.

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a great home base to explore Avilés and the surrounding coast. Avilés is very small and the hotel is right in the center allowing the guest to access everything extremely easily.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Best Breakfast we had on our roundtrip! Situated in the centre of the city. Excellent staff.
Cons: the city itself (a little bit)
7.5 Good
Pros: Parking facilities had direct access to hotel.
Cons: Dining room for evening meal had no atmorphere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant on both counts
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were especially professional and friendly. Probably the best breakfast selection and quality I have experienced outside a few top international hotels. The decoration of the old building was sympathetically done and it's location in the centre of the old town of Aviles cannot be bettered. A really pleasant surprise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a room with a lovely view of Ferrera Park, a manicured garden suitable for jogging or morning walks. Very lovely. The location could not have been better.. We were very pleased with our stay
Don Pedro - Avilés - Bar
2
9.1 Excellent (998 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Don Pedro in Aviles, you'll be a 1-minute walk from Palacio de Camposagrado and 7 minutes by foot from San Sebastian Bridge.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: a very quirky but attractive hotel in the centre of the town.
Cons: A little more pre information on how to get the car up to hotel to enable us to unload our bags would have helped. our satnav didn't know about the self lowering bollards across the narrow approach road!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: While the room was perfectly fine, what really impressed us was the rest of the hotel... it's like a restored palace or country estate, a maze of rooms with the most eclectic of furnishings... books, paintings, ornaments etc. And the location couldn't have been better. Bang in the middle of the old town, with bars and restaurants all around.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Quirky hotel in very central location with exceptionally friendly staff
Cons: I liked everything
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and cheerful staff
Cons: Safe was locked from the beginning.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location right in the heart of lovely Aviles. Very helpful and friendly staff. Slightly bizarre/dated decor, but all in the experience I think. Room was large and had everything you needed without any particular luxuries. Shower was a bit disappointing, especially considering the water pressure from the sink tap was insane! Good for a basic stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is a masterpiece. Worth much more than they are asking for a room. I'd stay here anytime at any price. AMAZING.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A historical house with super friendly staff and best location.
Cons: None
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A rambling old-style hotel full of character, with fascinating furniture and decorations - exposed rough-hewn brickwork and ancient pictures in the bedroom. Staff were super-friendly, and the location close by old town centre was ideal. It's only a ten-minute walk from bus and train stations. Aviles sees few tourists but it's close to the airport and a great base for exploring the northern Spanish coast.
Cons: Lacks some modern features - feels like it hasn't been updated for years, but that's part of its attraction.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner/receptionist was very friendly. The hotel is in great shape, a wonderful place to rest. Did I mention 100 Mb internet?
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff was really friendly.

Pros: The hotel is beautiful, the location is great and all the staff very helpful and friendly

Pros: The Receptionist was so Helpful, friendly. I had fallen on my walk into this destination (l was on Camino) Cut and grazed my face, hands and needed to check l hadn't broken my wrist and she could not have been more helpful. 9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location for a stop on the Camino
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, close to the bus and train station and a short walk from the old town. Very helpful staff. Really good restaurant, excellent food at a good price.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff; clean rooms and good location. Parking lot is not for free but therefor it is locked up and safe.
Cons: On the last day we had to leave very early and asked for a small lunchback a couple of days in advance (because we could not make it for breakfast). It was very nice that they prepared such a lunchback, but unfortunately it only contained very small and cheap goodies wrapped up in plastics (mini-muffin, cookies etc... the things you find in a supermarket when you look at the cheap bakery stuff). Gosh, this sounds like mimimi.. But just to give a hint: it would be awesome if you would just offer a piece of bread, croissant or sandwich. Employee at the breakfast does not speak english; it is possible to get bacon, scrambled egg from the waiter, but this is only written in spanish language. Would be nice to also provide this information for non-spanish-speakers.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is well located near the tourisme information in front of the Niemeyer bildind and about 10 minutes walking to the city center. Bem localizado; a 2minutos do turismo em frente ao edifício Niemeyer a 10 minutos a pé do casco antigo!
Cons: The girl in the reception gave wrong informations, it is a shame a girl that work close the tourism office doesn't know the time table also she told us that the Niemeyer building will be open until 10pm and we loose the visit. She was with none else and have time to confirm in the computer it is bad!! The room was in the roof and we have to pay atention for not beat with tha head!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, minutes from the old town, easy to find. Comfortable room and pleasant staff.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent buffet breakfast with a very nice attendant. Across the street from the Neimeyer Center if you like art. Room was small but adequate. La Dársena restaurant down the street has a fabulous menu del día.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Totally new and interesting accommodation concept. You have your car in your own carage next to your room and your food and beverage orders made by phone will be provided to your room trough a hatch 24/7.
Cons: Situation far from village and outside services. Lack of social contacts with staff and with other quests.
6.8 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The website stated that the property was 7 miles from the airport which was why I booked it. This was not the case it was approximately 28 kilometres which made it an expensive taxi fare. Although the room was clean and very quiet there wasn't a hairdryer as stated on the booking confirmation.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: People need to know it’s a sex hotel!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Room size
Cons: Lack of restaurant or common facilities . Mirrors on walls

Pros: Pleasant welcome.
Cons: Without private transport this is not an ideal location.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfy, very clean and cute interieur, nice staff
Cons: It was 2 km away from Aviles
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel's location is not in the most desirable area of Aviles, but the room itself was a real gem. The family owners did a great job decorating and equipping the room. The family restaurant was also a real surprise, the food was excellent and the food was served in a very attractive dining room. Our favorite feature in the room was the ceiling fan, which made for a wonderful night's sleep. Why more hotels in Northern Spain are not equipped with ceiling fans I just can't understand.
Cons: Better pillows would have been nice.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness, helpful staff, room comfort.
Cons: The location is on the outskirts of the city but still very well reachable.
Hotel 40 Nudos - Avilés - Bedroom
6
8.4 Excellent (2,331 reviews)
Overview Reviews
A stay at Hotel 40 Nudos places you in the heart of Aviles, steps from Palacio de Camposagrado and 7 minutes by foot from San Sebastian Bridge. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage.

Pros: 40 Nudos is centrally located in the old town. Great shopping and food as well as places to visit. The staff was delightful and the breakfast was very reasonably priced.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean and bright, beds very comfortable, great shower. Excellent location. We were grateful to check in early.
Cons: Only minor issue but the room was surprisingly warm due to large windows- air con blows upwards behind the curtains so hard to cool the room on a warm day. Some blinds would help.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location in center.
Cons: Be sure to message them to find out the specifics on how you get to the hotel and parking. Instructions were not clear.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very helpful and nice. The hotel is in the middle of the city. Great value.
Cons: All was good value.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a hotel to be recommended. The staff, location and facilities were perfect. The room was clean and we had a wonderful view over the old city.
Cons: The noise the street was a problem, but it stopped after 22h00. Some guests were also talking on the top of their voices and after we let them know to stop talking they respected our request.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed is comfortable. The bath room and the shower are both a good size. There’s s refrigerator in the room. The location is right in the center of old town and just half a block off the Camino.
Cons: The cafe sitting areas outside the hotel caters to smokers. All the smoke gets blown in to the hotel lobby. So you getting in and out of the hotel you have to get through the smoke filled lobby and then the outside sitting area. The hallways are also smoke filled. It is most unpleasant for a non smoker.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Difficulty parking without incurring 15 euro charge
6.8 Good
Pros: Location - modern clean room
Cons: Thin walls + noisy neighbours. Restaurant & cafe service average - no evening restaurant service.

Pros: Nice hotel ! The most precious thing there is staff! :))) they were more than helpful))) So nice and friendly! We enjoyed our staying there!! The location is good! You can easily to get to the city center and bus station!:)))
5.5 Okay
Pros: Reasonable location, short walk to the historical centre. Bed was very comfortable, pity I couldn’t sleep though.
Cons: No aircon, problem throughout the hotel apparently. Wasn’t told when I checked in, only when I questioned it on departure. The room was hot. It was noisy, a party or club, not sure which - music continued till 5am. Bottle bins being emptied at 2am. The hot breakfast was cold and there was hardly anything left. My parking was deducted when I complained about it all, pretty unsatisfactory.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Large room, good bathroom, closeness to the modern center of town
Cons: Bed too soft, could not fall asleep at night. No toilet cleaning brush.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: the children loved the spa but it is only available for 2 hours a day between 4 and 6pm, the inter connecting room worked well - very comfortable, the dinner and service were excellent, the hotel staff were very helpful
Cons: its an odd location, so close to a housing estate, view of the lake and factories around it, really more of a business stopover I imagine, if they are going to cate for families it could have a table tennis table, some games down near the spa where there was a hug unused space and extend the spa hours for children
4.5 Okay
Cons: Staff do not speak english, one person tells you one thing, the other never heard of it, air conditioners in the rooms did not work even after technician came in. The spa is $25 for 1.5 hours - not enought to relax.
7.0 Good
Pros: Quit except for the restaurant doors
Cons: The smell of the blast furnaces somewhere near Aviles
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent Room and Facilities
7.0 Good
Cons: Pool opens too late. 10am
5.5 Okay
Pros: The hotel room was lovely
Cons: There was no where to swim it was extra. The location is near an industrial estate which we saw from our window. The was a games room for the kids which was good but for a 4 star hotel of this size I would expect more facilities eg swimming pool etc
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great facilities, thoroughly modern, secure underground parking, good restaurant and breakfast
Cons: slightly tricky to get to, but worth it for an overnight stay, nothing much around the hotel though, so its really a stopover location
9.5 Excellent
Pros: After a long drive from the pyrenees a great, relaxing retreat in a small village.
Cons: Hard to speak english with any of the staff, apart from 2-3 exceptions
9.5 Excellent

Cons: aire conditioning system. Not having an outside room where to relax
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff on Reception were so friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and great design.
Cons: Windows on room a little dirty on the outside. Buffet evening meal a little expensive and quality poor, otherwise great hotel and would reccommend it.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The games room was great for the kids and the staff were friendly, even given the complications of our stay.
Cons: The hotel was difficult to find as the wrong address was given at the time of the booking. We also had to wait 1 hour for our room even after arriving 3 hours after the checkin time. Our room was small, the TV wasn't working when we first arrived (it was fixed soon after) and we had to pay for parking even though we didn't use it. There is plenty of free parking around!!
7.3 Good
Pros: the room. the restaurant
Cons: wifi is not free. very difficult to find the hotel
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Could not use swimming pool, inflated bar prices.
6.0 Good
Pros: The comfort of the room and space in the room
Cons: Spa and exercise area not available before 10 in the am. Internet was only free in the business room on the hotel's computers. Free parking was on the street and was 10 euros in the hotel garage....I felt both of these were misleading on the confirmation
6.8 Good
Pros: It was in easy reach of a number of towns and beauty spots. It was secluded and peaceful.
Cons: I think residents should have been able to use the pool free of charge.
6.0 Good
Pros: Nice quiet area. Easy parking.

Pros: I really liked the restaurant downstairs. And in general, it was good value for money
Cons: As the hotel is located on a busy street, it was rather noisy.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The member of staff who came to greet me could not have been more helpful or kind. He came up to my room as he had forgotten to give me the wifi code. It was spotlessly clean. A great seafood restaurant 10 mins walk away. Good coffee and breakfast..
Cons: There was nobody at the hotel when I first arrived, but I had only booked 45 mins previously, so my fault really.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Shower was clean and hot water great. Bar staff lovely and helpful, nice atmosphere in the bar restaurant area. Cheap drinks too.
Cons: We had room at the front which was very noisy as it is next to a busy main road. We did not sleep at all. Bed very small for a double. Check out staff was not so friendly and we needed to give our passport details again at check out even though we gave the details at check in which delayed our checkout/leaving time. Although cheap, air bnb would have been a better option for us for the same money.

Cons: On a busy street. It took a Twenty minute walk to get good.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very friendly & amenable staff.
Cons: As walking the Camino del Norte, it was a long way off the route & a long way to walk into the old town. Remote location had no hot meals, but staff were able to order in a pizza & salad.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pilgrim meal was very nice and good value. Staff were helpful and pleasent, particularly the lady who looked after my laundry and provided the evening meal.
Cons: Breakfast was fine if a little pricey
6.3 Good
Pros: It was exactly what I expected from the price-quality ratio. It was also super quiet except when there were other guests making unnecessary noises in the evening.
Cons: The shower and shower curtain were a problem. The first night the shower flooded because the drain was blocked or something (!) or the shower curtain, which was too long, blocked the water from going into it. The water ended up coming out of the bath. There were no drainage outside the bath so I had to use my clean towels to wipe the floor dry. This was not a pleasant experience, especially after a long day of travelling or just because I just wanted to chill out. Also, the ventilation inside the room could have been better. I would recommend the hotel for short-term stays.

Pros: Super fun host. Great location, cheap #noregrets
Cons: If you are taller than 5'5 you won't be able to shut the toilet door. Not very clean.

Pros: Looks as it hotel has gone out of business. When i got there at 18:30, the door was closed and nobody responded to my loud knocking. They took payment when i booked, so now have to try to get a refund. Note: stayed in an AirBnB nearby.
Cons: See above
6.3 Good
Pros: I guess the only way to describe this place is to say - you get what you pay for. The check in was quite an ordeal and the owner asked me to write my details in really big letters as he was using a magnifying glass to read. The shared bathroom was so small it was almost impossible to sit on the toilet with the door closed. However, the beds were ok and the overall security good. The place did smell a bit old but we got what we expected for the money we paid.
7.5 Good
Pros: comfy bed, friendly welcome
Cons: the bathroom and toilet is super small. you can't even sit on toilet and close the door.

Cons: I tried calling the owner because I had some questions and doubts about the bedding and towels based on other comments so I wanted to know if we needed to bring these items with us. I also inquired through the booking.com website and they said the owner would respond within 48 hours - NO ANSWER. I made this booking in my name. I listed the first names of my friends as the occupants in the other three rooms. Upon arrival, he did not have my reserva. In all his strangeness, he was playing a game with us. I had to keep telling him names until we got it right even though we were showing him the confirmation. Really bizarre. I speak fluent Spanish and my husband is Spanish so it wasn't a matter of lack of communication.
3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Toilet on the flor without the light and locks, neighbors were screaming and shouting all the night, we didn’t feel safety, couldn’t go to the toilet or shower cos we couldn’t close the door insight and there were not the light.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Mr. Eduardo did a good job in cleaning and drying clothes and it was very cheap; 3,-€ for 8 pieces.
Cons: This is not a pension!!! You get a private room what you did not know before. On the way to your room smells like smoke. In this house your feeling is not good, cause of Mr Eduardo and the people around you who don't see. Every time i came out of my room, the other doors were closed at this moment. If you ask for Wifi, you get a discription, that Wifi is old and you have to buy a spanish phonecard. If you ask again, the man Mr Eduardo get's real angry. Mr Eduardo has his own rules and he will tell you what you have to do for example if you ask for a receipt. He want to have the money only cash, right now and says he will come back with receipt. He did all he said but gave a real bad feeling.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location was about its only saving grace. But only just-just
Cons: Room was not ready on arrival. Place reaked of maruajana. Keys were not sorted. Given a room with a balcony but it looked like a storeroom with missmatching furniture. Bathroom facilities were overly small. Could not close the door when seated on the toilet. Showers had no dressing facilities and were so small one could barely turn and leaked all over the outside floor. Then men and women had to share the facilities. If someone was on the toilet or in the shower no one else could use the available cubicles. Way over priced for such shoddy facilities. No WiFi either unless you log on to the free city WiFi that does not work or purchase a Spanish SIM card. Which the hospitalero tried to make me understand would be more beneficial with regards to saving money!
