Fantastic hotel .... different from anywhere else we experienced. Amazing restaurant with great atmosphere and very good food. Staff excellent and very helpful. We will certainly return.
We loved everything about this hotel. It was by far and away the best hotel we had ever stayed in. The decor of the hotel was fantastic and quirky; the views from the terraces breath-taking; the staff bent over backwards to help us and make us feel welcome; the food and the service in the restaurant was unbelievable and everything we could have asked for was provided. To give example of the quality of service, when we woke to drizzle one morning there was an umbrella hanging on our door for our short walk to breakfast! It is a wonderful gem of a hotel.
The hotel is very special and nice. We enjoyed the food and the drinks as well. The service was perfect.
Everything. The theme is 1930's, lots to look at in the main room, great breakfast included in the price, lovely spacious rooms with excellent bathrooms, very pleasant staff. Parking is difficult, and not too easy to find in the town, but well worth the effort.
Amazing concept and the staff were excellent, the room (suite) was beautifully decorated and it was really an oasis of calm. A lot of thought has gone into this project. Totally unique, I would recommend this hotel and also the restaurant. Wow! Parking could be an issue but we parked down near the church and walked - much less stressful!
The service The town where it is located is very small and calm. There is no much to do at the restaurant apart from the restaurant and the musical show
Quiet location.Low rise building. Beautiful setting in gardens. Well appointed room. Easy walk to beach, 4 minutes. Easy parking. Short drive to Zahara.
Position of the hotel, terace, beautiful garden with S.pool
leaving we checked out after one night (had booked 6), not even close to being worth the money they charge
Situation, Andalucian style, near lovely beach, good pool, good gardens, friendly reception. External windows need painting. More drawer space for clothes. Restaurant billing process requires attention.
swimming pool , grounds and room breakfast selection very poor and service was poor at breakfast
The location and setting was excellent. Very peaceful. Restaurant under staffed. The rooms comprising the old part of el cortijo was not of a 4* standard. The newer rooms certainly are. The restaurant had one cook and one waiter. Quality of food disappointing. I would recommend this hotel provided you stay in a superior room, these are located in the new part of the hotel. I would certainly not eat at the hotel.
Relaxed environment. Internet in Room, Proximity to beach. Being upgraded to a junior suite Having to sign for pool towels
Great location with excellent facilities. The hotel has a lot of character and each room is unique.
The room, the swimming pool, good food. the communal area's not very inviting or comfortable, plastic bar table's and chairs at a 4 star hotel? Staff not particularly helpful, no children's play area, not much of a spa although I understood there was, nice hotel but not great for my child and I.
Location - close to the beach, Good pool.
We had a room at the back side of the hotel, which was nice and quiet and has a fantastic view on the surroundings. Staff's language skills may be limited to Spanish but they are very helpfull and willing.Gave us great suggestions on where to have dinner. Minor remark, towels were clean but the fresh smell of being washed was gone.
The price is OK, TVs are now nice big LCD, with digital air TV, arround 15 channels. Decoration is horrible, the room smells like my grandmas house. Breakfast is quite poor but for 50€ night that I paid it's just OK.
Sand in the bed
The staff were fantastic. Very helpful and when I needed extra assistance they were more than willing to help.
Beach, birdwatching, sight seeing, eating out, relaxing. No fridge in room
Location, very close to the beach and free parking. Having dinner by the side of the pool. Spacious room and bathroom kept perfectly clean.
Its close proximity to the beach where there is ample free parking. Bavaria on the Costa de la Luz! Awful. Public areas & rooms dull, dark and depressing. Needs dragging into the 21st century. Dingy corridors & brkfst room in "dungeon" with motorway-cafe plastic tables, no cloths, cheap fabric chairs. Caters for German touring parties. We did not feel welcome as Brits. Were not given room bkd, complained & were transferred. Beware rooms 03 to 06 on ground floor. Doors open directly onto pool, terrace & cafeteria. Absolutely no privacy, not even net curtains. Breakfast a joke, 1 or 2 cereals & cold meats/cheese, diy toast/tea/coffee. After 1st mrng, used local cafe's for brkfst. More expensive than 4-star we stayed at previous 4 nights. Recptn staff ok, but thats all. Won't use again.
Hotel was very relaxing place to stay by the beach. Very convenient to restaurants and beach a short walk away from hotel. We would stay there again. Thanks. No fault of the hotel but it rained part of the days. It was nice to have a restaurant in the hotel so we did not have to go out to eat.
The hotel has a good location, but the prices seemed quite high. Very clean and convenient, no breakfast included a pity, but the location covered most of disadvantages.
The situation of the hotel and the parking facilities are good. The beach and boulevard just in front of the hotel. Rooms are spacious and all with necessary comfort. Free WIFI on your room just ask the code! For breakfast just go outside the hotel for a cafeteria near the ocean. The reception has a dual function with the cafeteria next door so there is most of the time no friendly welcome. Because the hotel has a large vide in the middle it’s sometimes noisy.
excellent localization, spacious room with nice terrace staff very nice but only Spanish speaking
It was a great surprise! A beautifully renovated and comfortable small hotel is a very old, rustic village. It was very hard to find in the maze of narrow streets within the village. Directions -- or better yet -- a detailed town map would have helped greatly!
Reception staff very welcoming & friendly. Hotel spotless clean. Rooms very spacious & nice big bathroom. Great price.. No
The hotel is centrally located and near the town centre, Plaza De Espana. It was difficult to find the hotel based off the directions on the website
The building is a beautiful old house in a very central setting. the staff were very kind and helpful about arranging various trips etc we made during our stay, and were in general very friendly. Good, secure parking nearby, very important in a pueblo blanco.
It's a lovely old building full of character & is right in the center of Vejer. Our room was large with a good bathroom with bath.
Not anything Dirty carpets and room as well as balcony.Breakfast poor and staff servicing it unfriendly;and cannot speak English.Hotel should not be on Booking.Com's list.....rather Hotel La Casa del Califa
Full of character the hotel has retained it's identity as a former convent . The room was no-frills but very clean with efficient (if noisy) airconditioning, although the bathroom shower was poor and it could do with updating. The receptionist was charming and very helpful with advice on which beaches to visit and places to eat in the evening. We found the location confusing as the narrow streets are all alike (rather like a maze) and we had difficulty finding our way around Vejer. It's not so easy with a rental car as you have to park about 6 minutes away down in the town car park. However, we had a very restful night's stay, although I wouldn't have liked to stay more than the one night.
Excellent view & location Lack of parking
The atmosphere was lovely and its situation in the middle of the town good. Parking was better than anticipated with parking permit for street parking. Food excellent We had no complaints
Very clean. Staff very friendly. Restaurant available all evening and food v good standard. Location beautiful Can't think of any.
Spacious accommodation considering it was originally a monastery. Great location and views with some authentic touches. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Slight smell of drains in my room but Vejer de la Frontera is the real Spain!
The architecture and the geographical situation There was only one member of staff to welcome us, a fairly distant receptionist. The room was fairly cold and there was no hot water in the evening of Friday 13 (!) February 2009 when we stayed. We were told that they had a problem with the boiler. We got some hot water eventually by 9am the next morning.
The staff were very helpful and the location of the hotel is good, near the old town. Beds too hard!
The complete lack of informalty and relaxation
