Pros:Picked the hotel because it was the only reasonably modern and decently rated motel in the area. We were attending a wedding in a nearby community and liked it primarily because of its convenience and decent overall rating as compared to other facilities in the immediate region. The hotel was clean, easy to find, and the breakfast surprisingly good (not just starch) for a low cost hotel.
Cons:I dealt with two different clerks, one at check in and one at check out. Considering how they position the chain as small town friendly the staff wasn't the least bit friendly. I have traveled extensively around the world and in large and small towns across the U.S.A. for my job and for pleasure. There were no smiles, pleasant greetings, or even basic explanation about the facility; not a word about lack of elevators, facilities, or even breakfast hours at check in. Check out was equally impersonal and non-informative! Easily goes in the bottom 10% of hotels I've stayed at relative to staff friendliness, which at this point in my life is numbering well over 1,000. The room was clean but lacked a comfortable chair to sit in, desk chair or bed were only options. The king bed was surprisingly soft and lumpy for a new hotel (2 years old) and the pillows skimpy. The hotel had few guests, yet we were placed in a room facing the railroad tracks; while the tracks weren't heavily used they provided a few unneeded wake up noises during the night.
