I love Omaha’s unique attractions. It’s the only place in Nebraska where you can find a Scottish Baronial mansion, a history museum in an old train station, and some of the best collegiate baseball in the country. It’s the only place in Nebraska where you can find a Scottish Baronial mansion, a history museum in an old train station, and some of the best collegiate baseball in the country. The wonderful parks and incredible dining scene are well worth exploring in the state’s largest city, and the best hotels in Omaha keep guests close to both. A mix of boutique, budget-friendly, and beautifully appointed properties stretch from the edge of midtown to the Iowa state border. Most have indoor pools, making year-round swimming a possibility. In-room dining means Omaha steaks can be enjoyed from a spacious suite, while complimentary bicycles and shuttle services accommodate spur-of-the-moment adventures around the city. Some of Omaha’s hotels even schedule tours for out-of-town guests, making it even easier to discover the exciting theaters, museums, and historic sites throughout the city. Here’s my pick of the best hotels to stay in Omaha.

Hotel Deco isn’t just one of the few boutique hotels in Omaha – it’s the only luxury boutique hotel in the city. I love this historic space from top to bottom. The building is an impressive architectural landmark on this side of the city. Inside, Art Deco aesthetics combine with contemporary flair. From the lobby to the guestrooms, staying here feels like walking through a magazine.

The eye-catching artwork and wallpaper aren’t the only attractive perks in each room. Nespresso coffee machines, fitness mirrors, and hints to Lewis Carroll’s Through the Looking-Glass create eccentric yet elegant accommodations unlike any other in the city.

As expected, on-site restaurant Monarch has the “eat me, drink me” vibes down to a tee. Colorful culinary creations like ratatouille and penne vodka rosa mimic the deliciously-designed decor. A feast for the eyes continues nearby thanks to the hotel’s proximity to the Orpheum Theater.

The Italian architecture vibes are strong at Magnolia Hotel. Built in the 1920s to resemble Florence’s Bargello, it’s one of the best hotels in Omaha set near the equally historic Orpheum Theater. Rock stars give their seal of approval to the Presidential Suite; many have stayed in this dual-level haven.

It’s the largest hotel room in the city, complete with a private entrance, fully-equipped kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows. With so many high-profile guests clamoring for it, it’s often booked up, but the hotel’s two-level signature suites make a great alternative.

I love the Magnolia Hotel’s partnership with local tour companies, where guests can book experiences alongside their stay like walking and bicycle tours. I recommend snagging tickets to the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. After a day out exploring Omaha's family-friendly attractions, the hotel’s restaurant Olive & Ira’s is a great place to enjoy a plate of Omaha hot chicken.

When it comes to the best hotels in Omaha, the Cambria Hotel is a home run. It’s so close to the host field for the College World Series that you can hear the crowd cheer from your room.

The hotel is also adjacent to Creighton University, so it’s hard not to root for the Bluejays at the hotel’s Round Bar & Kitchen. Local beer and dishes are another easy way to embrace the home team spirit.

I appreciate the hotel’s grab-and-go market, which is great for snagging a snack between breakfast and dinner. The indoor swimming pool and fitness center are nice perks too. But what I love most is that the Slowdown club and Ruth Sokolof movie theater are right next door for an easily accessible night of entertainment.

If you’re looking to stay near the city’s Old Market District, Hotel Indigo is the place to book. This boutique downtown gem has a complimentary shuttle that whisks guests around downtown. I find this especially convenient when visiting during the winter. Plus, the additional airport shuttle service means there’s no need for a rental car.

The spacious guestrooms here feature a great balance of colorful decor and warm tones. Mustard yellow curtains pair surprisingly well with brick walls and wood flooring. The walk-in showers, workspaces, mini-fridges, and complimentary in-room coffee machines make these spaces all the more inviting.

But my favorite welcoming spot in the hotel would have to be Anna’s Place Speakeasy, where a cold drink is always available.

Splitting the distance between the centers of midtown and downtown Even is close to the city’s main theaters and museums. This wellness hotel has specific touches designed to maximize relaxation, such as eucalyptus linens in each room.

It’s a very health-conscious property. Along with a communal fitness center, I love that it has exercise areas in the rooms with video workouts. The heated indoor pool is another wonderful place to relax the mind and body.

The pet-friendly hotel has a bar and restaurant featuring a healthy menu packed full of wholesome meals. In terms of location, many top attractions, like The Rose Theater and the Omaha Children’s Museum, are within walking distance of the hotel, while the airport shuttle eliminates the need for a rental car.

Embassy Suites is often my go-to for city stays and this location in downtown Omaha is wonderful. It’s right on the edge of downtown, but unlike some of the other best hotels in Omaha, this Embassy Suites’ front yard is the Heart of America Park at The RiverFront.

Trails weave right from the hotel around Conagra Lake and the Missouri River. Within a few minutes, guests can walk to most of downtown’s hotspots, including the Old Market district and Durham Museum.

My favorite amenities come as standard here: a fresh off-the-menu breakfast, an indoor swimming pool, and complimentary appetizers and alcoholic beverages at the evening reception. The on-site cafe and restaurant have morning coffee runs and late-night snacks covered too. If you can, splurge for one of the spacious two-bedroom suites.

Element is one of the best hotels in Omaha’s midtown area. It keeps guests close to downtown attractions while offering a more local experience. The hotel’s backyard is Turner Park, a popular green space where locals attend open-air jazz concerts.

Element’s spacious suites, complete with workstations and full kitchens, make it easy to imagine what life as a local is like here. Meanwhile, the complimentary bicycle rentals provide access to nearly every corner of the city.

The one-bedroom suites are great for extended stays. I like that they add a separate living space with a sleeper sofa alongside the kitchen to create a home-like atmosphere. With a 24-hour fitness center and a handful of eateries around Turner Park, Element is a fantastic midtown option for your next Omaha visit.

Kimpton Cottonwood’s 36th Street location is among the most desirable in the historic Blackstone District. The property calls the former residence of the Blackstone Hotel home, retaining its refined ambiance throughout. The daily social hour and monthly high tea events are sublime.

Guests are spoilt when it comes to amenities, with Precor gym machines in the fitness center and a resort-style swimming pool and members-only pool club. Meanwhile, the hotel’s specialty suites are just that, offering special amenities like soaking tubs, luxury bathroom products, sleeper sofas, and stunning views of Omaha.

A trio of eateries makes this one of the best hotels in Omaha for foodies. The Committee Chophouse is a renowned local steakhouse, The Cottonwood Room is the bar to see and be seen at, and the Orleans Room brings French cafe vibes to the Cornhusker State.

Aloft is one of the best hotels in Omaha thanks to its prime location in the coveted Aksarben Village. This new property in the city’s bustling business and entertainment neighborhood has fantastic access to shopping and dining, as well as the Baxter Arena.

Aloft is always one of my preferred hotel choices, and this location doesn’t disappoint. Its W XYZ Bar has a great selection of beverages – alcoholic and otherwise – and a lively atmosphere no matter when you visit.

The loft-style guestrooms are cool and minimal, with fun pops of color. I like getting a corner suite so I can gaze out at Center Street as I get ready; others might prefer a smaller room with a king-size bed. I think we can all agree, though, that the in-room mini-fridge and complimentary bottled water make every stay a bit more enjoyable.

I’m no birder but I have a special love for peregrine falcons, which is why I was drawn to The Peregrine, a Hilton Curio Collection hotel. The artwork and colorful decor throughout the common spaces and in the rooms are lovely touches, making this one of the best hotels in Omaha for design lovers.

Even the suites here have avian-inspired names like The Falcon View and The Peregrine Falcons Nest. I always tell people to ask for a room with a “falcon view”: there’s a six-story mural of a falcon beside the hotel.

I’m a big fan of the hotel’s on-site restaurant, which is also cleverly named. The Habitat is where I settle in for a house-smoked whiskey. Unless it’s summer, of course; then I take roost at The Takeoff rooftop bar for amazing views of Omaha.
