The hotel had a car park not many do in Canterbury so that was good The staff were all very friendly and helpful The room was clean and comfortable We had breakfast one morning which was a bit expensive but ok
Trying to find it ,we used the post code on the website which took us to the wrong place ,The hotel was in the next road :I think this should be sorted
The room itself was cosy, comfortable and very well equipped. The bed was a super king size, the towels were delightfully large and fluffy, there was lots of storage and good tea/coffee making facilities. Having stayed in nice hotels all over the world, I would say it certainly equalled and even bested a lot of them for comfort - better than it's 3 star rating suggests.
Paper thin walls between the rooms! The gentleman in the room adjoining ours made a couple of evening telephone calls. Not only could we hear his conversation (he wasn't speaking loudly) but we could even hear the person speaking on the other end of the line! The night before that there was an older/hard of hearing couple there. We could hear every word they said, and the TV was so loud we didn't need to turn ours on for the news....
Very comfortable room and attractive building. Good bathroom, facilities and furniture in room. Attractive public rooms. Good position re city centre.
The design and state of the carparks. The brick surround of the fountain was repaired and damaged the following day due to difficult parking manoeuvring. Carpets and wallpaper need attention in places. Did not stay for breakfast: expensive and not to our taste.
Close to town Parking
Room smelt of cigarette smoke
There was a problem at the evening as there was a fairly large coach(?) party and so the restaurant service was slow.
Best Western Abbots Barton Hotel has offered unique Kentish character to guests since 1927. Its Gothic style building dates back to the 1830s, and ensures all who visit return home with a few Canterbury tales of their own! Today, the hotel is ideal for those seeking the 'picturesque' and the 'personality' that Britain is famed for, with tasteful-yet-traditional refurbishment in recent years only adding to its appeal. Tranquil gardens mean there's as much peace and quiet to be found outside as there is within our 19th Century walls, and you'll find all the comforts and amenities of a first class modern hotel at every turn. The hotel has free onsite parking and is just five minutes' walk from the County Cricket Ground should you want to be bowled over by the tradition and intrigue of the 'Gentleman's Game'. Enjoy your stay.
