Clean, extremely well-organised, with a nice balance between managing guests effectively but personally while giving also them space, such as letting them check in at their leisure the following day. I liked how the restaurant was a moored sailing boat, and also the themed details: carved fish on the door matching the room’s name; towels folded like manta rays, biscuits baked on site also in the shape of the eponymous creature. The amber beer brewed at the hotel’s own micro-brewery is very quaffable. The owner welcomed us all on arrival and saw us off. Lots of attention to detail.
It’s not a criticism of the hotel, because there weren’t many detractors really, but I thought throughout my stay of ways in which it might keep the vanishing culture of the island visibly alive thereby not only distinguishing it as the foremost hotel on the island but also from hotels in other countries — at the same militating against disappointment visitors might feel who came for the culture, not the diving. Given the flight times and the infrequency of flights in and out, all guests arrive together in the small hours and leave on the 11pm bus to depart the island in the small hours. A really nice touch would be to carry forward the missed paid-for half of the first day to the necessary late check-out of the last day. Instead, there’s a hefty late check-out charge that I imagine most if not all guests end up paying because there’s nowhere to go and nothing to do.
Friendly staff, world class diving, easy going, good facilities.
Very pricey! Internet is dial-up speed. All locals including staff have mouthful of beetlenut & bulging cheeks at all times, spitting & leaving nasty black teeth!
The staff was awesome. The best.
Everything was perfect. I have nothing negative to say.
Great Location. Friendly Staff. Great Breakfast. Restaurant (located on old schooner docked behind hotel) provides good food at reasonable prices. Microbrewery on-site provides good beer. On-site dive services were excellent. Airport shuttle included and well organized.
The hotels boat which was breakfast room first deck, restaurant second deck and rooftop bar.. and pool area.
