Hotel Villa Dolce is in a convenient location. Rooms were clean and had everything I needed. Staff are all friendly and extremely helpful. The same can be said about the owner and his wife who live on the property. I loved my stay here and would recommend it. I definitely will be back!! Pura Vida Nothing
Top notch staff in the hotel and restaurant. The art is simply beautiful and the facilities are brand new and luxurious. I think they are setting the pace for luxury in the San Jose area. If you don't drive, which is absolutely frightening in San Jose, you will be limited on things to do around the hotel. But if it's for a couple nights or a meeting this place is very nice!

Decor and art work is very upscale, great price, exceptional clean and modern. The bathroom has glassware not paper or plastic cups, blow dryer and nice towels. The coffee for a hotel was phenomenal. The bed was extremely comfortable. Was very quiet, and TV had great chanel options for English speaking and sports. The breakfast was outstanding. No transferse available. I needed a transfer. No microwave or bath robe. But didn't need it anyway.
Very close to the airport and a free shuttle every 1/2 hour. A good first or last night stay. 6-7 restaurants right across the parking lot.

The price for one night was amazing, and the location to the airport was really convenient. If I had a layover in San Jose - Alajuela I would definitely stay there again. Continental Breakfast was not included with the deal I got on Kayak.
Location near the airport is its main advantage. Inside is peaceful, clean, modern, and comfortable. Front desk staff gave some great advice including that we return our rental car the night before our early-morning flight, and that the rental car shuttle would bring us back to the hotel. This was the best idea and greatly simplified our morning of departure. The hotel shuttle to the airport was quick and efficient. The pool is tiny, and tucked away in a back corner. The cafe/restaurant in the lobby is modern and inviting with a great looking menu, however, our waitress was the slowest on the planet. Every step took about 5 times longer than it should have. Even when we finally caught her eye (the place was 90 percent empty at the time), and indicated that we wanted the bill, she took another 10 minutes to finish sorting cutlery before coming over and putting us out of our misery. The food was good, but the service was terrible.

Everything about the hotel was just perfect. It was right down the street from airport and the shuttle takes you there every 30 minutes. I had family staying on another floor and the elevator only allows you to go to your floor. Good security but too good I guess

Upon traveling by bus all day to San Jose for my flight out the next morning, I get to the airport to call for my hotel shuttle... and am told there are no rooms for me, the hotel was overbooked. It's 8pm and I'm tired and hungry - the receptionist tells me to come to the hotel through their shuttle and they'll help me find another room. After waiting longer than she said it would take, the shuttle finally arrives and takes me to La Riviera. The lady at the front desk is nice and tells me that they've gotten me a room at comparable hotel right behind theirs. By the time I am finally shuttled over there and checked into my room it is nearly 10pm - too late for me to mess with any other arrangements for a room upon discovering that the room is NOT comparable in any way!! La Riviera looked nice with AC, flatscreen TV, a pool, free breakfast, style... my 'comparable' room, which was two dollars more even, was a hole-in-the-wall hotel down pretty much an alley. The room was a mess with multiple beds (one a bunk bed), AC or TV didn't work - it was a local family room - and no offense to that, but it was a room I'd NEVER pay $70 in Costa Rica for! I signed up to pay that amount for a nice, classy looking room in a hotel with gardens and ambiance! I felt taken advantage of and ripped off, and upon expressing this to the lady at the new hotel was met with nothing but the offer to find another room. Really?! It was too late and I was exhausted!! I wish either Kayak or La Riviera wouldn't have overbooked their rooms OR the lady would have been honest about the 'comparable' room so I could have found another at the airport before being shuttled to their nook in the huge city and essentially locked in at a late hour. This hotel looked super nice, it's a shame! I would never stay here though because of this experience.

the people were very nice and helpful a pleasure to deal with the room was basic beds bathroom overhead fan/light no safe it was the jets passing over or taking off that woke me twice.
The accommodations were decent, I arrived at 2am and there was somebody there to check me in and show me the room around, very friendly. The place was fine and cheap (I stayed at the JW Marriot as well for nearly double the price but it was nice!) I only stayed the night and then left at 7am where the office guy cooked a DELICIOUS breakfast and the coffee was AMAZING. The breakfast was a nice plus! I didn't really check out the amenities because I literally stayed for only like 6 hours. Called a taxi for me which arrived promptly The room was nice but there was no AC (I think) but the fan worked very well. I didn't feel like it was super clean and the bathroom was small! The shower was fine but the pressure was very low, NO shampoo or conditioner or lotion or anything but they did have bar soap, so that's something... It was a small room, and online the price was the same for a single or double bed but at the hotel it was $8 cheaper for a single bed, which I would have booked if I knew in advance. They ask to pay in cash, dollars or colones, which is better because I avoided my credit card fee.
The owners were so friendly and helpful - we felt safe and comfortable here. It became our home away from home.
The 'manager,' son of the owner, was superb! He was easily reached by phone, spoke excellent English, arranged for a rental car and a cab to get back to the airport, gave us directions and advice. We 'adopted' him! The driveway up to the B and B...slightly steep which is quite common in the mountainous areas of Costa Rica.
The owner/manager was really friendly and helpful. This was better than expected for the price. Our only complaint was some spiders/webs under the bed, but that's an easy fix.
The owner and staff was super! They gave us directions to help us find our way around. The room was simple but nice. The casada dinner we had was very good. Breakfast was good too. Te grounds and pool looked awesome. It was difficult to find for us with no directions, but it wasn't the owners fault.
The staff was very helpful and always available The uppper screens were filthy, hole in the wood was plugged with a piece of paper.

The beds,work comfortable Major sewage problem, breakfast issues and staff unwilling to help with excursions or seeming to have a problem ordering takeout for guest!! I requested to speak with the wonder, no success.
The rate is perfect for quick business stops like mine. Toilet paper...every single time I stay here. Either its to low quality or to "eco friendly" for me if thats why is the way it is. Please change it!

I've stayed here 3-4 times so far. It's my go-to when I arrive Costa Rica and depart. The staff is very helpful, the rooms are very clean, I wanted to take the bed with me - very comfortable! I have only tried the New York Strip and tiramisu - both amazing. A great quiet little hotel. Very very strict on their 11 am check-out time.

Friendly staff, clean, convenient for transition in or out of country. Five minutes from airport. Pay departure tax at Greyline. Across from casino. Little tough to get to if driving self. Exit off highway is odd. Exit left, then turn left and immediate right into holiday inn and continue to Hampton.
Room was comfortable, little convenience mart was great, and free shuttle service to the airport was very helpful. Staff member checking me out in the morning was extremely rude, and did not treat me like a guest. She then proceeded to treat the male guest behind me with actual etiquette ~ not sure why it's that difficult to remain consistently polite.
Breakfast was good, the free airport shuttle was the kicker. A/C was a luxury, but too much of a good thing. Ended up in pants and a jacket during breakfast.
The location is excellent for those arriving or departing San Jose airport. I had rented a car from one of the rental car companies across the parking lot so it was very convenient to drop off the car and walk over to the hotel. I had hoped to pay my departure tax but didn't realize that it was only available until 4:00PM. One person at the desk told me he could do it later, but when I checked again at around 6:00PM I was told the system wouldn't allow it. There aren't a lot of options for food nearby.
I liked the shuttle and the breakfast in the morning was pretty good. Room was comfortable and clean and front desk was helpful. Close to a casino and that was fun to do. We just stayed here to catch our early morning flight back to LA.
Wonderful place to stay! Staff was helpful, friendly and professional. Hotel was very clean, and the room met all of our expectations. Shuttle service to the airport was fantastic. The driver was friendly and helpful with our bags and such. Great place to stay!

The hotel is very pretty and very clean. The girl at the front desk- checked in around 6ish on Monday, 8/15, Mother's Day in CR,.-wish I gotten her name- was phenomenal, welcoming, great smile and very helpful in getting three tired girls just off the bus from Quepos, situated. Helped us finding food and info on transportation next day for airport. Also brought some items we needed for the room. She was again there in the am, if she worked a double shit, she is super woman! Give her a raise! I'd gladly stay again if I'm in San Jose ever again! Remote didn't work but fronted attendant brought batteries promptly. Shower gel dispenser was broken and laying on sink counter, not a biggies, just feedback. Restaurant closed early, we had just arrived and been looking forward to eat there, only two options for delivery were pizza, and chicken places, regretably we picked pizza, but hey we ate.
The pro's were: - Nice staff -Big room -Nice tours leaving from the Resort -Food in the restaurant was pretty good Con's -Not really close to anything -As soon as you leave the hotel, you see the 'real' San Jose -Everything else was fine up until the last day. I went to the airport and realized that I left my camera in the room, so I drove back and to get it only to find one of the cleaning ladies stole my camera and would not admit it. I know exactly where I left it... GUARD YOUR BELONGINGS!!
We stayed three nights, wonderful hotel, great food, the spa is gorgeous but VERY expensive. Do NOT bring any children to the Hotel Martino Resort. No playground, nothing for a child to do. No 'Kiddie Pool', no child portion plates in the restaurant, and the child seat was old and not in very good condition. I do not understand how this was rated a 5 STAR hotel
Stayed for 3 nights drove to Arenal for 2 nights back to Martino for 2 nights. My wife our 8-year-old our 15-year-old and I. Wonderful food good wine selection gorgeous pool terrific gym. Never went to the spa. Rooms were very nice staff polite and fun Great zoo up the road #40walkable#41. We dont know exactly when...but well be back...we ALL loved this place. Keep in mind this is Central America and its important to take your kids places like this instead of Las Vegas or Orlando. We found everything in Costa Rica charming...from the narrow roads to the little lizards to stopping for lunch in the middle of nowhere. Wonderful hotel great vacation.
I was at the pacific cost in costa rica, so to void flight issues i came back to downtown one day before my flight, looking to save few dollars i book at the martino hotel, very beautiful place with a bit of italy, the best thing was the food and the staff, so i m very happy and my best to everybody there, thanks crew... hope to come back very soon, my promise to stay more days and get a free spa, :)
Easy to drive to and free parking. Can walk to restaurants and shops. Great staff. Good breakfast. Refrigerator & safe in room. Very nice. Large rooms. Queen bed. Room next to a public space & below another room. Noisy at times. Early riser above us walked with heavy feet. No water pressure, unless you like cold showers.
Service was very accomodating. Wonderful people.
Friendly staff. Window in room opened out to a hallway and not street.
