Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, situated in a lovely town. We liked it a lot!
A lot of stairs to get to guest rooms, and noise from the restaurant downstairs at night. Not much that can be fixed about either of those things!
Completely central location in the town. Conveniently near to La Sacra di San Michele, the fabulously sited monastery on the route of St. Michael from Mont San Michel in France to Puglia in Italy - the reason we stopped over in Giaveno. Very good restaurant in the hotel (used to be open every day, now closes on Tuesdays), with excellent value for money. Friendly staff. When we first checked in, TV in our room didn't work. When staff couldn't immediately fix the problem, they took it away and brought another one - we think from their own living quarters! Room was not fancy, but was good size, on a quiet back side of the hotel, comfortably furnished; good size bathroom, plenty of hot water, very clean. Good breakfast, good coffee, served in a pleasant room. (Too cool when we were there in early Oct. to eat out on the terrace, so don't know what that would have been like.) Free WiFi worked fine in our room. Hotel is very good value for money.
Hotel has no parking. There is a public lot in the piazza right across the street, but parking there - while free - is time limited during week days daytime. (Didn't seem to be much enforcement, though; we largely ignored the time limitation and were never cited.) Hotel has no elevator, though staff cheerfully helped bring our bags up to the room. (There is a stair lift, if you really can't walk up the stairs. Didn't observe it in use.) There is no real lobby, and no guest lounge area. Shouldn't really expect too much along those lines, though, in this class of hotel and at these reasonable prices. The nearby church bells do ring on the quarter hours right through the night. Not a problem if you are a sound sleeper (like me), but was for one of our family who is not such a sound sleeper.
Location and staff
Our room was lovely and overlooked Piazza Molines where our car was conveniently parked. There was a balcony from which to take in all the sights and sounds of Giaveno. That evening there was a live concert which added to the whole experience. Right next door to the hotel was a very pleasant restaurant, with excellent food. The following morning we were served an amazing breakfast in a charming breakfast room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return again. Grazie infinite!
Mother/Son owners very friendly. The son spoke some English. The included breakfast was wonderful and the coffee drinks were made to order. Nice terrace to enjoy breakfast if sunny.
While there is a chair lift, there is no elevator so be prepared to walk up steps to your room.
