The outside of the building looks nice. But this is a deceptive ploy to get you to spend your money here. Like a siren on a secluded island, once your drawn in b the beauty, you're doomed. Yes, everything about this hotel was terrible. I had a perfectly awful experience. If you want to throw away your money on the worst experience you will ever have at a hotel in Brooklyn, then stay here! I'm certain the nice looking facade and the free parking are tantalizing, but don't be fooled. If you're lucky enough to get one of the tiny 20 parking spots you will be greeted by a team of complacent staff who will do all that they can to steal your money with a smug grimace. I really hope you get to talk to the manager who was clearly not cuddled as a baby because she's a real pill. My husband and I stayed here for a week last summer and will be staying again next month for our vacation. Very clean, quiet and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Every employee we questioned had an accurate and easy to follow answer to any of our dining, sight seeing and subway questions. It's hard to stay cool in the city during the summer and the quiet, powerful air conditioning was very much appreciated. Some of our friends who traveled with us chose a more expensive hotel and complained about loud AC that couldn't keep up with the terrible, humid, hot weather that week. Our bed and pillows were super comfortable and clean. It is within walking distance of a few subway stations (the Atlantic Ave Mall terminal is not too far away and has connections to practically anywhere you want to go in the city.) When I purchased the room, I had no idea what hotel I would get. I am so happy it was the Hotel Chandler. Upon arriving, for the first time to NYC, on my birthday, they provided excellent service, from carrying luggage, upgrading rooms, birthday cards, reservations, etc. Charlie, the concierge is wonderful and was extremely patient with us tourists. I highly recommend asking him any questions that you may have about NYC as a newcomer. The room itself was somewhat small, but clean and quiet. The bathroom was nice and had a large mirror, which is appreciated with multiple ladies getting ready at once. The only thing that bothered me a little was the fact that you have to walk all the way into the shower to turn it on and there is no way to not get wet with the cold water that comes streaming from above until it heats up, which is quickly. Found this hotel very clean and comfortable. Location good to family members. We were given a free upgrade to a room with 2 beds upon asking. Only thing that we didn't like was the $12.95 charge per person for the continental breakfast. Couldn't see paying that for coffee and a doughnut or muffin. Found a great bagel shop that we could eat for $5.00 a piece. Would definitely stay here next time we visit.
