the friendliness of the personnel the noise of the traffic around the hotel, rooms overheated , no airco
The hotel was excellent. Very clean, friendly staff, great location. Paying for the hotel car park per day of our stay!!
The hotel was ok...but The staff was not friendly at all. We were a total of 6 people and on Jan. 1St. (New Year's Day) when we tried to use the facilities for dinner, we were informed that everything was closed and that we needed to go out if we wanted to eat. This was quite a surprise because we were there with children and we were not informed in advanced about this, we could not believe this from a 4 star hotel!...TOO Bad!
Quiet, clean, well treated No free internet
Nice and cousy hotel. Not really close to the center, but very comfortable. Staff is polite and available. Prices could be lower, considering the location of the hotel
Quiet, perfect setting Internet was not for free. In the description there would be free access to internet, but that is not true. It is free access to a provider. Ok, I was offered a coupon but that is probably limited in time or money. I simply don't want all these doings. Free internet should be free.
good location in the centre. very comfortable, nice rooms, friendly staff ... perfect
The way staff resolved problems- see below The reasons for the poor ratings relate to the lack of air conditioning. During my stay tempratures in dortmund were 30 degrees, plus. I was unable to get an sleep the first night, due to the heat in room and lack of air. For a supposingly 4 * hotel this is unacceptable. Saying that when I complained the next day, the hotel staff placed a fan in my room that resolved the problem (hence excellence ratings for staff). There were also problems obtaining wireless connections in my hotel room- although, again this was addressed satisafctorily by hotle staff- I was provided with a cable connection.
The hotel enjoys an ideal location between the shopping streets in the centre of Dortmund and the railway station. It is large, contemporary-style yet fairly impersonal, with a touch of luxury that would not seem out of place in the centre of London or Paris (but which might be a bit too flashy in a provincial, industrial town). The double rooms are also large, well-appointed, sound-proofed and very clean. The bathroom is also quite large, as it has not one but two sinks and a bathtub+shower. The Bulgari toiletries are really appreciated and show once more the hotel owners' attention to the little details that matter. The breakfast is very good, varied and plentiful (but a bit expensive, at 18 euros per person).
It's ideal location for shopping , business and tour. The level of service is very good. The hotel is clean and comfortable.I really liked it. It was very good.If some not , just ask reception and they solve it soon.
your location and the bar 1. no air conditioner, 2. stale air, 3. aclcohol was refused for visitors/clients, 4. too small parking lots, 5. no printers in business centre,
convienent and accesable from the main station, reasonable facilities
Breakfast buffet is very good and the staff is friendly and helpfull. Good location and the connected restaurant is very good. For my purposes I selected too small room. However I'd like to stay in this hotel again and have already reserved a bigger one.
Friendly reception staff and helpful with information that was asked off them. The hotel has free internet access
Beautiful lobby, good location to go to dortmund center, nice breakfast... no airco, and unfortunately the day we arrived it was almost 30C.
the staff who were always helpful and willing with a smile.
the room was very large and comfortable The cafe bar was a separate business and did not open until 5.00 pm
I found this hotel to be an overall pleasurable experience, with excellent facilities and staff that were warm and welcoming. Te suit was outstanding and the spa a real treat. I thought the location was perfect, close to all amenities and easy to find after a beer! I would definately stay there again.
Kind service by hotel front desk staff was impressed. Only one thing is the quality of meal served during the dinner but breakfast was quite OK.
Friendly staff. Clean hotel. Value for money. Hotel bar opening times. Should be open earlier.
the room the food
Spacious and comfortable room.
The spacious room
hotel, comfort. it was my second time over there and its a pleasure to go there.Suites are very pleasant. i didnt like the fact that the staff made a mistake giving two rooms for me and my fiancee ( we just ordered one) and they did not even apologized for it...in fact they even tried to trick us to pay both rooms.i did not like this inconvenience at all.So when the staff is wrong, its ok everybody makes mistakes, including me, but we should all apologize to each others if so especially them because they are supposed to work for our comfort, not to be right by pride or to trick us...
Bedroom Suite was as described on the website, very spacious and very comfortable. Location is ideal as it is just 300 metres from the main train station and 5 minutes from the centre of the city. The perfect location for business or pleasure. No complaints. It ticked all the boxes for my trip.
Expensive, given the quality offered
Very nice room. Excellent restaurant. Pleasant and helpful staff. 9 Euro charge for internet access. Other hotels offer free internet.
see under point 1
Swimming pool, view from hotel windows, personnel.
The hotel is located nearby the city centre. The rooms were cold, and we're in the winter! The breakfast was too German instead of international and also the restaurante gave a cold feeling.
Functional hotel, good for business trip overnight stays.
Restturant food and breakfasts v good Expecting tea/coffee facilities according to my booking, which were not provided
swimming pool, sauna :)
Very Clean, friendly, good english - astonishing literary theme and clever design features. We only stayed for one night.
The staff were very friendly and the room very comfortable. There are great running trails just outside of the hotel. There is no wireless internet anywhere in the hotel. You can only get online if you are wired in your room.
The Franzosenhohl is magic. On a fantastic location, its new owner has spent a considerable fortune renovating it, and the staff is super pleasant. I have stayed there since 1985, and I certainly missed it during the long years of closure due to renovations.
Good restaurant, large room Bad smell (stale water / drains) from the bathroom. Room quite cold and noisy
Clean, comfortable, good-sized room; excellent food although relatively expensive. Attractive countryside; hotel well-positioned at one end of Langscheid village - relatively quiet, easy parking.
Lovely hotel set in a superb location very helpful friendly staff
The quality of the room, amenities and breakfast is excellent The personel in general was very gentle. But at check-out we were asked to pay theparking (even our rate included it) and the person at the front desk was not nice at all: we showed our reservation (which was in french) and she argued that she could not understand french so we would have to pay the parking. At the end she agreed not to charge us but she was not happy about it, and not nice at all. Such a hotel should always have helpful staff that fullfill its customers inquiries and needs in kind way.
Just a brief overnight stop but food and service excellent
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, clean and modern. The location was very convenient. The in-tub shower was awkward due to limited size of glass partition.
Nice sorrounding, excelent staff, perfect breakfast Size of the rooms
The hotel was situated ideally for my stay i attended a racing pigeon convention and the hotel was not more that 10mins walk to the arena that it was staged so no transport costs. Also the staff and room service was excellent during my stay.
Friendly staff. Superb swimming pool/spa. Excellent breakfast. Internet access too expensive.
Cleanliness, modern, comfortable. Very friendly staff. Good location to the westfalhallen. Tea/coffee facilities. Room service was quick and lovely well presented. I would recommend this to anyone.
Location. It is perfect if you wish to go to the Idulna Park Stadion and well connected to the city centre. Breakfast was good too. Common areas are not too welcoming
The usual Hilton high standards with excellent staff, all of whom spoke perfect English. Great location overall. Although slightly remote from Dortmund centre, was easily accessible by underground, that was only 5 minutes walk away.
Large swimming pool. Great breakfast. Far from the city center.
the general standard of furnishings The double bed turned out to be two singles pushed together. The TV was a little confusing to operate.
friendly staff, good location, faultless service.
very spacious room, very clean
Breakfast was excellent, my room was very spacious, with a superb bathroom. The layout of the bedroom was also good, and I loved the Reception area with its Christmas tree and festive atmosphere. The glass elevators are also very attractive. Room 308 did not have any drawer space to put clothes in, only hanging spare in the wardrobe
It was close to the Westfalenhallen The underground parking was very narrow and expensive.
Very quiet and comfortable hotel with decent sized rooms and very professional personal. Very nice breakfast.
easy to reach Iduna park stadium, 10min walk. we luckily met Shinji Kagawa at the reception in the hotel just after the match with Volksburg.Hotel stuff recommended us a nice Mongolian food restrant near the hotel. Baby bed. Nothing.
some of the staff were very nice and helpful; The gym is a joke, dont even think about bringing your gym-stuff; During my stay it was very hot in Dortmund and there is only this mini terrace out front the hotel in the bare heat, no umbrellas; I found the bed too short (they should check out Hilton or Marriott for their beds!); the TV too small and old; this hotel needs to loose a star and be downgraded;
I love the bath tub and the beds are the best I´ve found. My back hurts a lot but I had no pain in the morning, which is a miracle. We slept to well and missed breakfast the two mornings we stayed at Mercure Hotel. We also missed the train to the airport because of this :)
We had a very pleasent stay in the Parkhotel. Staff was very friendly. We booked a traditional room, which was much cheaper than the other rooms. These rooms are not renovated, but very acceptable. The rooms are not big. Breakfast was really nice! The sauna is very nice and neat. We asked for a non-smokingroom, but didn't receive this. I must add that all rooms were booked.
nearest hotel to the soccer stadium. more than enough room space. restaurant service was slow during the lunch time which made some of the customers unhappy including myself.
Everything was OK! Nice hotel - worth the money!
The room was spacious. Separate toilet and bathroom was also nice. The complimentray mini - bar of 2 beers, 2 waters and 2 juices is a very nice idea. Had food at night. Soup was cold and tasteless. Service was rushed and it felt as if I was intruding even though it was only about 21.00
Great location for the football
The proximity of the hotel to the Westfalenhallen ice rink. The single rooms were very small, and a bit like a cell!
The hotel is ideally situated for events at the Westfalenhallen just 5 minutes from Hall 1. It is also 5 minutes from the Stadtbahn and bus stops for easy and cheap links to the city centre and minutes from the football stadium. I booked a standard room at a bargain rate which turned out to be a "traditional room" in the old, unrenovated wing. I worried about this but the room was fine if a little basic - more than adequate for my overnight stay. The included breakfast buffet was excellent and free mini bar (soft drinks & beer) & internet were also included in the rate. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a visit to the Westfalenhallen area. The soundproofing in the "old" wing is not particularly good and the wireless internet connection is a bit iffy (I sat in reception to get a better signal).
The staff were very accommodating in allowing me to stay at the hotel until 4pm when I did not arrive there until 3am! Many hotels would have thrown me out at midday or charged me another day rate Best Western Parkhotel Westfalenhallen is a 4 star hotel, but also has a wing where the rooms are certainly not 4 star!
Its location for the football. only a couple of minutes walk from room to stadium.
Lovely room and view, pretty gardens, friendly staff, close enough to underground, near to stadium & running track
Breakfast room is good, and have good opening time. Possibility to pay your stay last evening before leaving, means no queue in the morning I was placed on 4th floor and the elevator only takes you to the 3rd, menas you have to carry your suitcases in a narrow stair between one floor, but the room was nice. As I have a bag with computer to carry every day I hade to carry it from monday to thursday this time.
Friendly welcome and ideal location Restricted parking spaces
Very clean and confortable Nothing
Pleasant atmosphere and well kept amentities and rooms The downturn of available breakfast items where only cold options were available - and moving the breakfast down into the bar for 1st morning. I had become acustomed to the breakfast room upstairs with a wide array of selections, both hot and cold and similarly the rolls did not appear to be as fresh as they have always in the past. It is acknowledged that numbers of guests were minimal on this occasion however I as a paying guest still paid the 'normal amount' for breakfast therefore cost cutting was evident which does everything to undermine the spirit of your customers and reducing the Value for Money.
well trained and very helpful staff, comfortable room with sunshine, good internet access. location: a bit far away from the train station
location and friendly staff decoration and halls smelling cigarrette
Comfortable room It was mentioned in the guide fitness devices completely absent in the hotel. Very poor parking indication.
The service which was very good, nice personal attention.
The hepfulness of the staff and its location no
Helpful 24 hours reception, good English speaking staff, programmable TV wakeup alarm. Very expensive wireless Internet, in this day and age that should be available for free in every hotel room, very few foreign language channels on TV.
Great place to stay if you are going to Westfalenhalle. Just a couple of minutes to walk from the hotel.
The room. My girlfriend and I (both young professionals) stayed here while attending Love Parade 2008 and were way overcharged for the room by a condescending staff. Nice room, but the front desk needs to be fired and restaffed.
We were looked after very well at the hotel and found the reception very helpfull especially in terms the checking for flights and travel arrangenents in the circumstances that we found on this break. We hope to return again for the model exibution in 2011 and with reasonable rates will probable increase our duration to the full 5 nights many thanks for a good time
Very friendly staff, walking distance to the centre, beautiful interior that differs from mainstream hotels, good selection at breakfast Few programs in English on TV
On site underground parking, easy to find from Autobahn, bar snacks and food reasonable price. no
The receptionist was very helpful in assisting when we by mistake locked our car away in the nearby deep garage. Hint: always check garage accessibility when driving into a garage. The hotel seemed best suited for a business trip. Standard rather boring big city business hotel. Lacked personality. Our room didn't have a view.
Its central location was useful, just minutes' walk from the pool we were visiting every day. Evening menu was not exciting and was over-priced.
No hotel car park location was good, as were the facilities
Closeness to the Metro and city center. Good variety of TV programs. Room is a bit small for the 4 star hotel but confortable enough.
Good weather good staff very helpfull nothing to much trouble No
central location, best breakfast I ever had at a hotel, wintergarten for breakfast room very nice.
Close proximity to town centre and Christmas market Nothing!
We did not book breakfast and found it quite expensive on a one off basis
A very pleasant experience. Most efficient room service. There was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. As frequent travellers this is something we appreciate.
Breakfast was very good.
the food was amazing and service of the staff was good.the room and the bathroon were of good size and spacious. the toilet roll in the bathroom was too hard.
Central and very good wifi connection. Staff are very helpful and the rooms are quite clean There are mostly German channels on TV. If they want to be an international guest welcoming hotel, they have to add more channels in English.
My brother and I were caught up in the closed airport situation because of the Volcano, we were very lucky and came home with an English couple who drove to Germany rather than flew , if we had to stay on at the Hotel Drees we could stay free of charge for as long as it took for our flight to become available
Handy for the city and event The room was not propally cleaned or beds made evey day
Convenient location. Nice village and amenities for visiting within a walking distance.
Breakfast and car parking TV Channels did not match the card An English news channel would be helpful
Friendly staff; good range of food available for breakfast; cute (tiny) swimming pool to relax in. rooms were slightly too hot
friendly staff, great room, close to the motorway and thus very nice location
Great for children with mini golf, pool & bike hire! Excellent sauna & bar for parents to enjoy & a great location.
Pleasantly situated next to the river but only a five minute walk from the town centre of Herdecke.
