What are the pros of staying at Royal Embassy Resort?
Great, friendly staff. Lovely accommodation and beautiful pool. Private and quiet. Beautiful modern rooms with comfy beds. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast provided daily. It was very quiet at the resort, had the pool to ourselves most days. Spacious rooms. Well designed Hotel territory - the pool, sunbeds, general sense of privacy. Villa was perfect. The staff ?❤️. We loved the huge sofa in the living room and how spacious the suite is. Modern AC and other amenities. Fantastic staff. Extremely helpful and communicative staff. Suite very spacious and clean. Cleaned and restocked daily. The staff are so lovely, very comfortable beds and good amenities. Our room was cleaned daily and the linen changed regularly. We had a nice view over the garden and swimming pools. The deep swimming pool was clean and the water was warm and it was a pleasure to use. The garden villas were very comfortable and well maintained. The pool wasn’t huge but great for cooling off in the heat and very peaceful. Small resort, very close to pool - was on door step. Scooter rental was next door and 7 eleven was a 1 minute walk. Beautiful spacious villa in classic white and plantation shutters. Lots of hot water with good pressure. Bed was firm but comfortable- best bed we’ve had in Thailand. Pool was clean and property was maintained well. Bathroom had bath and shower. Lovely staff. I booked a villa and they upgraded me to the bigger apartment, but I eventually decided to keep the villa. I loved the accommodation itself: plenty of room, comfy bed, great and new bathroom with a luxurious bathtub! Air conditioning functions perfectly! Theres a Landry service and a 7eleven next to the hotel, so you can have breakfast there if you don‘t like the hotel restaurant (overall, breakfast there was ok). Good + apartment style hotel with individual rooms, aircon and TV in all rooms +there is a kitchen, fully equipped with induction stove, pots and pans, all the utensils you need (minus a scissors, for some reason). even a coffee pod machine with coffee pods that are restocked each day + amenities and toiletries in the bathrooms + it is near Big C, Super Cheap, 7-11 convenience stores/supermarts... so you can buy daily stuffs and put them in the fridge + short walk to the beach + everyone is courteous + wifi is strong and fast (there were two routers in the apartment) The resort is very nice, very spacious, comfortable and clean accommodation. Good price and not far from restaurants/Kamala Beach. room was huge and modern. peaceful, clean and relaxing. Super comfy bed. Nice pool. Most of the staff were lovely.
What are the cons of staying at Royal Embassy Resort?
Problems with credit card machine. Long walk to the beach. Bath towels could be upgraded. Whilst it's only a 10min walk to the town centre you do have to cross/walk alongside a busy road to get there. Some of the resort has aged and looked tired but staff were addressing this while we were there. Breakfast menu (scarce) The rooms and the buildings are already getting old, the hotel isn’t new at all The staff isn’t quite professional, but friendly Will definitely need a motorbike to get to the sea and around. Bit noisy and reception area could do with a refurb, weeding and maintenance needs to be done around the pool areas. Worst experience ever, we arrived at night there was no reception, just the security guard to hand over the keys, the wifi password provided was wrong and we tried contacting the whats app number provided for help and no reply, the air conditioning wasn't cold, and the electricity was cutting on and off throughout the night, we have booked for 6 nights and we couldn't just stay and left the next morning, we have asked for a refund, and they told us that since the booking was done through booking.com we have to contact booking .com, once we have contacted booking for compensation and refund we were told that the PELA resort has refused and we shall try contacting them directly, very disappointed, our holiday was ruined because of them. there was some pollution evident at Kemala beach but other beaches are not far away. The breakfast selection was very basic and certainly not worth the price we paid. The food was precooked and just heated up. The coffee was instant coffee from a sachet and the urn did not boil the water sufficiently to make a proper cup of tea. Whilst the staff were very polite and helpful, they would benefit from training. We felt that they did not have support from the Management and were left to their own devices. The facilities in our room were pretty basic, but just sufficient for our needs. The hotel clearly needs a lot of work - eg the paint was peeling off the doors, the paint on our furniture had been touched up and not done to a very good standard and the overall impression was poor. We were woken at 5am every morning by the Mosque call to prayer which we understood and accepted, but it is very unfortunate that this then set off the two cockerels in the property next door who crowed loudly, non stop for several hours afterwards. The biggest downside with this property, which meant we wouldn’t rush to return, is that there is a Mosque very nearby. This meant there were regular prayer calls and unfortunately there didn’t seem to be any sound proofing in the villas, so it was inevitable that you would be woken up early, even with ear plugs, so not really conducive of a good nights sleep. No laundry service, there was loud speaker prayers very close at random and very early hours - every morning woken up at 5am to them and every night multiple times. No beach shuttle. Gardening needed a little more attention. There were gaps in window shutters so we were worried about mosquitoes but we actually didn’t see many at all. The location is a 15 min walk to the beach across a busy highway and at night it’s quite dark walking back to the hotel from where all the restaurants are located. Breakfast wasn’t included and there was no dinner option on site. At around 5am every day the nearby Mosque sounds the call to prayer. Woke me up every morning without fail. A shame, nothing the hotel can do about it. As a solo traveller, I didn‘t expect the hotel to be so outside and relatively far from the beach area: I took a Tuk tuk everyday to take me back and forth to the beach. Tuk Turks in high season are expensive and I ended up spending 15-20EUR / day only on those and for short car trips. the apartments next to the reception building suffer from the loudness of the Main Street just next to it. The gardens of this property are taken care of daily but, somehow, they still look like they could use more maintenance… The pools are small so I ended up spending all day outside of the hotel as the pool area would have been boring for me. Breakfast was poor. The cleaning wasn’t the best, especially at the bathroom. The cleaning wasn’t the best, especially at the bathroom. there is a kitchen, fully equipped with induction stove, pots and pans, all the utensils you need (minus a scissors, for some reason). even a coffee pod machine with coffee pods that are restocked each day. there is a severe lack of hooks in bathrooms, no clothes line either. the pots provided has scratches, and it is teflon coated. this should be replaced as it is a health hazard. some parts are not dusted or cleaned properly - window blinds, top of fridge, as there is a fine coat of dusts on them. you can hear traffic at night occasionally, from loud tuk-tuks blasting music to people hollering. the breakfast is quite limited but it was always very fresh and staff super nice. breakfast needs to be examined, surroundings around the pool etc could do with tidying. a little walk into town and cross a main road that was a little hairy with a pram! but other the nicest hotel we saw! If you’re a light sleeper like me bring earplugs as if traffic doesn’t wake you the neighbours roosters will. The area wasn’t the best but thankfully the building works next door had stopped during our stay. The restaurant only served breakfast. No bar or room service. We were accused of stealing a teaspoon on checkout.. ?
