The hotel in general - well located, good service... No
It was in a great location and was obviously a beautiful building in it's heyday. The view out of the window was impressive too and the room (414) was a good size with plenty of storage space for clothes and a nice big bed. For the money I paid, I was expecting at least a kettle in the room to be able to make a drink. The shower screen and head both needed descaling and the screen leaked. Also, I would say that the decor in the hotel looked quite tired- for example the impressive stairs were marred by the carpet being threadbare on the landings.
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast Restaurant not in use as far as we could tell. No promotion of the restaurant despite the potential of the beautiful dining room.
Friendly personnel Television was not functioning initially, but was rapidly repaired after our demand.
Hotel was right across the street from the train station and could not have been more conveniently placed. Room was comfortable and the staff was very polite. Breakfast was a bit overpriced and the wifi was very slow.
Good location. Close to the Bodensee, train station, shopping center and the aquarium. Second child (2-years old) was additionally charged, which was disappointing.
The lobby is impressive. The location to the main attractions was ideal. For being across the train station, our hotel room was quiet and we didn't hear much road or train noise. Only steps were available to go out the rear of the hotel towards the parking garage. Hard to manuever if you had rolling luggage. Thought the price for a double room was a little high.
central location, free upgrade to a suite, wonderful breakfast and Hulya most welcoming
The hotel is in a very good location, very close to the train station. The hotel room is bright and clean. The mini bar fridge was not working in the room.
Service was good, the decor was not bad (even if the hotel is a bit old)
Very nice service, very friendly. Great location for city trips/ shopping. Bar was nice. But could even be enlarged in size to offer space for more guests.
I liked the Hotels physical location and the way the history of the old Monastory has been preserved in the entrance cloisters No
The view was spectacular!
The hotel is ideally located on the lake. The building is wonderful and our room was spacious. Breakfast buffet is fantastic !
Beautiful setting and good location. Beds were horrible- uncomfortable. Everytime one of us moved it made so much noise. Pillows were basically flat air. We asked for two more which we got quickly, but still not good. We didn't get much sleep.
We very much enjoyed the bar that is hidden in the rear of the hotel because it was quiet and had a nice atmosphere.
Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Beautiful view of lake Constance, and a few blocks from the main train station and city center.
For the price of the hotel would have liked to have air conditioning.
Location, helpful staff
it was ideally located we had to walk from the 3rd floor to the fourth floor where our room was located-elevator did not go all the way up
the hotel location yes , we have asked for 3 beds rooms and we did not get it , however they wanted to charge us for this and we refused . they give us smoking rooms with very bad view .
We stayed here for one night before heading to Italy. The room seemed very new and clean. The bed and bathrooms are fairly generous in size. Great built-in organization wall for hanging your clothes and parking your suitcase. Breakfast was good. The underground parking garage was large enough for our Audi A8 and was very convenient. Quiet location. Lots of things that are closeby, including a grocery store. Very cool decor throughout the hotel There is no safe or mini-fridge in the room. The bed was on the firmer side, but still comfortable enough to sleep on.
This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in - and we've stayed in a lot. Fantastic location on the Bodensee, first class service and facilities, gorgeous room with a balcony and lake view. We will return.
I like the location there is no tea, coffee, Water Pot to make
The room is luxury, clean, and well-equipped. A nice view of the Bodensee from the balcon. The design of the entire hotel is very modern and sofisticated. We spent extremely confortable and gorgeous days at this hotel. We wanted to eat a disch of fish from the Bodensee. The fisch in the menu of this restaurant does not come from this lake.
beautiful modern hotel with great amenities...professional staff...great restaurant understocked minibar
Once we got to know the staff a bit, they were very helpful. They are all polite and they speak English, for the most part. The bathroom is marvelous, and has a heated wall! The minibar is free, which was a nice surprise. The bike rentals cost $15, but they don't tell you that till you check out of the hotel! Also, the beds are harder than I like.
The hotel is very well decorated and modern. Breakfast was excellent. THe service was friendly and the location was very quiet. Turndown service was also appriciated. The food was a mixed bag. Some things were excellent, bot some were extremely pretencious. I would appricated it if you had your chef attempt to eat some of his/her own creations, specifically the club sandwich. Thge sandwich was edible but far too large to hold, it was a complete mess. Very pretencious.
Nice hotel located right on the Bodensee shore. Very friendly and helpful English speaking staff. Excellent hotel premises and services. Wi-Fi is not free of charge.
the size of the room and the the fantastic bathroom was very comfortable. breakfast choices were fresh, plenty and truly delicious the water given was aplenty as well. We drink a lot of water and that is important to us. the restaurant manager was very unprofessional and acted quite rude the air conditioning in the room was not quite cool enough and bc of the weather you couldn't open a window either, so it was quite warm in the room not enough staff in the spa to accommodate for visiting guests - in other words no appts available while we stayed there.
Excellent beautiful hotel with beautiful views and worth the money for that. As a business traveler I need internet access, which is free at the hotel. Unfortunately it barely worked most of the time and I had very bad internet access. I told the reception and they said that it was working. They ask me to try connecting (wired) which also did not work. They kept on giving me new ids/passwords which did not help. Unfortunately as a business traveler having internet access is a must and as such will not use the hotel again. Everything else was nice.
Came down for a break from Zurich. Breakfast rooom/lounge newly renovated. Before you had vouchers to eat at Mcdonalds. Very nice breakfast included in price (not the case in other hotels on same street here). Reception staff were very welcoming. I had a single room, which was fine for one night. Very clean room. It didn't have a view of the lake, which previous rooms have had that I've stayed in here. Good value for money. Excellent location. Staff very friendly. Nothing much to complain about. Ask for a view of the lake. There was also no telephone in my room.
Good location, friendly staff
The location was central and it was very easy to get around the town from there. Close to station, harbour and shops. Very noisy and stuffy. The staff were a little abrupt when we were early but friendly later on. Having breakfast provided in Macdonalds was a little strange, I would rather the hotel market themselves as room only and bring down the price.
Good location. Had to ask every day for towels and toilet paper. They do not take credit cards. Sofa bed in family room was almost unusable.
This hotel is perfect for adventure peripherally, where you can relax and rest.big rooms with lots of comfort.nice dining room.
The central location. The size of the room.
Central location, nice room furnishings. Only one key that had to be used to unlock the door from the inside, not an electronic key.
We enjoyed the location.
Very well located, in front of the Konstanz train station and the main touristic points of interest, as well as a good shopping center. Downstairs there is a Mac Donald's, which is useful when traveling with kids. Very complete German breakfast. The hotel has no parking nor an agreement with the closer parking. Check-in closes very early and there is no staff at night. Expensive hotel for the quality.
The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the the hotel was a short walk from the city center and Lake Constance.
This hotel is in a good location, close to the city center (5 minutes walking). Good price-quality relationship.
Cleaniness of room As the business hotel, the wifi connection is desperately disappointed. During our stay in ibis Konstanz, the wifi was disconnected when we closed the door of the room. When we seeked help from the staff at the reception, the staff's answer was very irresponsible and irritated us. Her answer was like "Because the wifi is free, we are not responsible for the poor internet connection.
simple clean room with enough good facilities . reasonable wide choice for breakfast .
It said it had wifi which was important for ne for work. It did not reach the room and the mgmnt had blocked some email sites.
The location was in a good spot near the center of town. Plenty of things to do in the immediate area. The hotel would not allow me to use a VAT form, claiming that the German law prohibited it. This was not correct. I have used a VAT form in other hotels in Germany with success. I believe that the staff was either ill-informed or flat out lying to me.
Location I can imagine how unreal this story may sound, but this has occurred to my 70 year old mother that was staying at this hotel November 26, 2016 till December 3rd, 2016. She was to stay a full week while visiting a local dental office for orthodontic procedures. It was supposed to be a quiet stay as she had procedures performed in the morning and rested in the hotel the rest of the day. Little did she know that the stay there would become one of her most frightening and humiliating experiences. On the second day of her stay, the housekeeping did a poor job cleaning the room and my mother decided to complain about that to the front desk. Perhaps that event was related to what transpired days later. On a Friday morning a full day before checkout (Saturday) she left the hotel for a few hours. When she got back, she saw her personal belonging clumsily piled together on the floor of the lobby, not even in a plastic bag. As she approached the staff, she was stunned to hear a rude and shocking accusation. The clerk bizarrely claimed that she defecated into the bathtub (I kid you not) and demanded that she immediately pay for her stay and leave. As she was processing what just happened, she asked to see what they were talking about. At which point they claimed they have already cleaned everything up and had nothing to show. When she insisted if any pictures were taken of what they speak of, the clerk just claimed they trust their cleaning staff. They still had to let her back into the room because she left documents in the safe and she saw how the room was completely clean and ready for the next guest. She was certain that she left the room in reasonably clean condition and did no such thing as they alleged in the bathroom. You can imagine how humiliating the experience was for my mother to even be accused of such a thing. Unfortunately, the story does not end there. They charged her for the remaining night even though this was 11AM. They claimed it was to compensate them for the “cleaning”. To top it off, they kept chanting that she was not welcome at the property ever again. Utterly humiliated my mother had to gather her things and wander onto the street to look for another hotel to stay the remaining night. The moral of the story is if you do decide to stay at this property, be aware of what sort of experience you may get if you get on the bad side of the staff. Be prepared to take pictures of the hotel room before you leave and be prepared to call police or obtain legal services.
Easy to get to lake side and the shops and dinner areas, lovely breakfast and nice rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful as we only spoke English this was not a problem. I would have liked the use of a washing machine and dryer as this was in the middle of our trip. I would have liked shampoo and conditioner supplied to the room.
Modern decor, good location No tables available at breakfast and not much food left!!! Under staffed
The rooms are very well equipped and with plenty of daylight. Very unique is the terrace on the roof The gourmet restaurant is not open only on preorder of groups
Breakfast only! the location is not very good...and the charges are high, compare to std of the hotel!
Modern, comfortable and clean. Very friendly staff. The restaurant was closed both of the nights we stayed.
The hotel was clean and the room was nice. The hotel had only been open 3 weeks, the lift didnt work so had to walk 4 flights of stairs to go in and out. They didnt have an ironing board, the receptionist english wasn't very good. And the rooms didnt have any air conditioning or fans!
Convenience for seeing the areas around the Boudensee and enjoying the Autumn Festival which was taking place. Stepping in and out of the deep bath to shower. Also lack of shelving in the toilet/bathroom for essentials.
The location is good , it was near the old town the room was too small and the bathroom has glass door which is not suitable for muslim people.
Nothing This hotel is ranked as a 4-star hotel - I wouldn't give it more than 2 stars. The room was small, but the main problem was the toilet/bathroom - it was a small area cut out of the room with an opaque sliding glass door and no privacy whatsoever: anyone in the room could see and hear everything what was going on in the bathroom.
location only problem with parking in particular anloading luggage
The breakfast was an amazing buffet and the building from the outside was very quaint. The room was disappointingly small, was next to the lift and looked out on a wall. It was only for 1 night so wasn't really a problem. I would ask for a bigger room if staying longer.
Very clean hotel
Location to shopping and historic district Difficult to actually locate the hotel...many streets in the area are pedsetrian only
Location, location, location After having drinks at the bar in the evening discovered that the rooms and the bar are seperate items so could not put bill on the room - minor irritation only. Also the breakfast was cold but I discovered that the warming plate was not plugged in and when I told them they were very pleased ro receive the input.
Very close to historical center noisy
Nice facility -- rooms were clean and well equipped. It is currently under renovation and the site did not warn us about that. No noise issues, but clearly a mess.
Relaxed atmosphere, and good breakfast
The best experience was breakfast in the restaurant, a fantastic view over the lake in the sunrise. The room was newly renovated and very clean and the beds were veryt comfortable. Very short walking distance to the train station and the boats crossing the lake.
The famous breakfast No parking lot. Parking at the streets is nearly impossible.
no parking, no posibiliti to use bar becaause of local guests
Good location, lovely breakfast, hotel has a few bikes for hire at 10 euros a day, very short easy journey into old town, good parking
Breakfast room was very good. Not sure what you do if need help with rooms after 10 pm as no staff around at reception after that time and no sign say which number to ring.
We left to cycle before breakfast on our first day, the hotel offered us a packed lunch and it was ready for 6 A.M. very good.
Great breakfasts Pity there is no lift or fire escape.
very organized, and friendly staff
The room was comfortable and good bathroom. The breakfast was also good. The location is ok and a nice 10-15 minute walk to the town centre. The pre booked parking was very good.I left a pullover behind and they are very helpful in sending it to UK We were there the weekend of the Spectacular and the hotel were catering at the event which resulted in them being slightly distracted. The restaurant wasn't open for lunch or dinner while we there. We couldn't even get a drink at the bar.
Although the room was rather small, it contained all the elements needed and It was clean and comfortable. The location was great and the staff was welcoming and helpful.
the staff were very friendly, we felt at home.
Hotel staff was nice, very helpfull and speaks good english. Rooms are big and there is a lot of parking places for cars on hotel yard. There is no cafee or restaurant, just a restaurant for breakfast.
Very spacious apartment, very well equiped, clean, nice.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was very good. The room was very spacious - the hotel fit my needs perfectly. No complaints, very good place to stay.
Beds very comfortable. Staff very helpful, apart from one thing as below. Would have liked to have known at the beginning of stay that we could have borrowed items for the kitchen. We had one saucepan and no kettle, and were only told at the end that we could have had more. Chairs in room at table, felt unstable we sat on.
The location was easy to fine and the size of the room was great for 3 adults. Staff were very accomoodating and we wish we could have stayed longer
Comfortable large airy room. Good breakfasts
The breakfast was excellent. The staff was helpful and professional. Ample parking.
The breakfast buffet was great! The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The bed was hard and uncomfortable.
Unusual staying in a listed garrison block. Huge stark white rooms with retro bathroom that provided a decent shower (unlike many other hotels). Staying in a residential area but a short walk across the river to the centre we really felt at home. Excellent breakfast, free parking and exceptional value. Local restaurant recommendations were good too.
Perfect breakfasts - one of the best that I have seen in Germany, with a good variety and lots of home-made tasty stuff. Good location - very close to the lake, and the parks, and the city center. Free Wi-Fi Price is higher that you would expect for such class of the hotel. Lack of minibar. And no indication that water bottles in the room are not gratis.
Excellent location, comfortable, clean and friendly. Nothing.
The warm persona of the hosts. Down to earth friendliness.handy restaurant with local fare. No private parking, no elevator, many stairs, not for the feeble or the elderly.
Location Street and traffic noise. Could not sleep with auto traffic late pm and early am.
Breakfast buffet The website shows a grand room...we stayed in a room so small, the bathroom door opened into the bed! The staff didn't speak english, didn't appear to know where Mainau was! Also, when I asled how to dial the phone to call Booking.com, trying to use a calling card, it didn't work. The lady did dial your # in NL, but didn't tell me there would be a fee...she charged me 7 euro 60 cents. Andre answered the phone and was polite, but did nothing to help me. I'd never used booking.com and will not likely use you again...especially being overseas, lanugauge barriers can be difficult to navigate through...all I wanted was for him to talk to the hotel owner and explain our concerns (the room also smelled like smoke and I'd selected a non smoking room). I thought you might be like a liaison for me...Andre suggested we ask for the sheets to be changed and told me to write my thoughts on your website. Interestingly enough, he did say the hotel's cancellation policy wasn't clear and that you're working on many hotels to clarify...we felt stuck and paid for two nights eventhough we stayed for one...and headed home ending our trip one full day early. I wouldn't recoomend this hotel to any American...the Europeans were even greeted differently than we were for breakfast! Indeed a mistake on my part, have never had any trouble with a hotel in Germany before and this is my second time living here. Let me knwo if you need any clarification or further info.
The breakfast was excellent; I had a bag of gummy bears on my pillow. The mattress was comfortable to sleep on. The hotel had mold problems. The bathroom was flooded many times and the mold grew in the wooded parts of the bathroom. The sealant aroud the sink and the bathtub were moldy, too. The room was a lot smaller than the online picture showed. There was an A/C unit in the room but it did not produce cold air :-( On the first floor, there were renovations going on.
Family run, so there was a homely vibe No elevator to upper floors. No mosquito mesh or arrangements. Poor AC performance in very hot weather (AC broke down middle of night or perhaps theres a number of hour quota?)
The breakfast was really good. As I am a vegetarian I enjoyed the wide choice of fresh fruites and vegetables. No private parking. You have to look for a spot around the hotel.
The staff was kind, location is greate - it's near the town center, railway station, etc.
Good location. Clean. There's no elevator, so I wouldn't recommend for elderly people.
It has kitchen, shall be good for family if they can provide cooking stuff.
Nice and clean room in an excellent location when visiting the sites and attractions of the city of Konstanz and the lake.
Clean, modern and simple rooms.
Nice restaurant, nice people, nice hotel.
Nice and big room, good breakfast!
big and clean rooms, friendly personnel, comfortable car parking the restaurant - food is pretentious to be caribic, but actually it's overpriced and choice is poor.
Aloha :-) Nice & interesting hotel (stayed in the safari room). Hotel staff was very friendly. Close by city Konstanz. We had a dinner in the restaurant and it was delicious. (web:go-viva.eu)
Clean and modern hotel. You need a car to reach the city of Konstanz; around the hotel there are no other facilties.
Close to Konstanz with fair price to family. Nice restaurant and atmosphere. 3 had to sleep in 1 very big bed. Rooms can accommodate up to 4 (if small children).
Room, atmosphere, restaurant, beer. Menu a little restrictive and a little expensive.
We had a very nice big room. All the hotel staff could speak English. Breakfast was good.
Large, modern rooms. Reception area, didn't give the impression of guest welcoming
Extremely well located to visit Bodensee therme, small and pleasant hotel Not comfortable bed, small and outdated tv in the room
It's really close to the lake and Bodensee therme. You get 10% discount at the spa. The room smelt of smoke. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Very Nice. A nice walk into town center around the lake. If you stay 2 nights you receive a free pass for the bus.
Great location and helpful staff to make our stay enjoyable.
My husband and I loved the view of Lake Constance and the Swiss Mountains from our bedroom window. The English speaking staff and buffet breakfast were very much appreciated.
The hotel makes a point of being both in Konstanz and in the country. Having a car helps, but there is a very good bus service. The location beside the lake is very pleasant. The cost is reasonable rather than cheap. The breakfast is acceptable rather than splendid.
The restaurant in the hotel (indepedently managed and owned) was excellent. Rooms were ground floor. Would have preferred rooms on the first floor
eenvoudig goed hotel met goede keuken , helaas is het hotel vanaf 23.00h niet meer bemand
The hotel was very conveniently located for the station. It was very clean. The room to the street was quite noisy in the morning with street traffic but this was compounded by the fact that there was a construction site opposite. It had an impersonal feel.
The hotel location in relation to Konstanz! Fantastic. Breakfast was awesome too. They say that they have free Wifi, but this is not true!!!! Beware!!! They offer the service if you pay a third-party provider through a credit card. This is not free and was very misleading. Parking is also not free. There is parking station around the corner that they point you towards. Getting your things out of the car is a little awkward, as you need to park in the bus bay out the front.
The hotel was a good location close to the lake and shopping district. The rooms were very modern and clean.
very central location Lift not working well. Reception on 2nd Floor.
central to the walking area of the city the temporary checkin was next to our room and we heard the phone ringing in the middle of the night and people talking late at night. The parking for our motorcycles was several blocks away in a public garage. We were hoping for something closer and more secure.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is in a convenient position for shops, marina and bars/restaurants. Due to lack of air-conditioning we had to open the windows at night, which proved a bit noisy.
Nice modern, refurbished rooms. Good central location. Breakfast is a bit limited
Spotlessly clean, good buffet breakfast, close to train station No restaurant
Nice central location, nice light and clean rooms.Nice choices for breakfast. Quite noisy and having no air con it's a decision between opening the window and getting hot!No leaflets or maps on the local area for tourists except for the Sealife Centre!
The location was perfect, only a 15 minute walk down to the lake and the Isle of Mainau. You can sit on the patio in front of the hotel and drink wine and look down over the fields to the lake, the view is beautiful. The staff was very nice to us. The restaurant was good for dinner, and they had a great breakfast too. There is a small playground for the children in the back of the hotel; they had rabbits too, and the kids loved it. For going into Konstanz, you can catch the bus for free and be downtown in 10 minutes. I would like to go back down to Mainau, and Konstanz a few times this summer, and I will definitely stay at this hotel when I go.
Breakfast was awesome! but get there early because they sometimes run out of the good stuff. They are building a beer garden. You might want to ask for a room away from the beer garden once they open it.
The hotel is within a 15-minute walk through the country side to the beautiful island of Mainau and has a wonderful view of the lake and mountains. Our nautical-themed room was comfortable and even had a flat-screened TV. The bar and restaurant staffs were very, very friendly. The wireless internet would not work in rooms in the adjoining building. When we went to the desk for assistance, the gentleman blamed our firewall and threw our receipt (with access code) away. After a few deep breaths, we convinced him to retrieve our receipt from the trash and figured out how to gain access in the lobby.
Walking distance to Mainau Island, a must-see spot on Lake Konstanz. Also close to drive to Reichenau Island, another fascinating places to see, and to the ferry for Meersberg. Good restaurant. Internet very sporadic. Noise from bathroom fans (other peoples) could be heard in our room.
