Everything old dirty needs to be closed down Gordon Ramsey and Alex polizzi would have a field day not worth £20 a night never mind £55
location was ok, but a good 10 min walk to any shops. pleasant enough road.the hotel had a bar and felt like a hotel, and the desk staff were friendly. the view from the bedroom window was pleasant, looking out to a view of predominantly trees.
pokey little room but it had a bed, ensuite shower & toilet & TV. The light in the toilet didn't work,so I had to ask them to replace the bulb, which was done promptly. it was impossible to open the door to the shower without bashing the bedside table, so to take a shower, the bedside table had to be moved first. the room was clean enough, but the whole hotel had the feel of somewhere that hadn't been re-decorated since 1980, and the carpet throughout looked like it would be sticky (though it actually wasn't) but didn't look like it had been shampooed in 20 years. the main problem was the sink in the room, whose plug would not come out, so once water had been run into the sink you couldn't get it out. I didn't find this out til I was preparing for bed, so I notified the desk staff but asked that they leave it until tomorrow (I was there for 2 nights). in the meantime I had to soak up the water in the sink with a towel, and wring this out in the shower. kinda primitive but did the job. I reminded the desk staff about this in the morning and they promised it would be sorted by the time I returned, 8 hours later- but it was not. in fact I'd swear no-one had even looked at it. the hotel manager (who refused to speak directly to me) obviously didn't even believe there was a problem as he sent the receptionist up with me to check. On confirming the plug was indeed inoperable she reported to the manager who offered me a full refund on my second night - but only if I didn't stay ! it was now 8pm and I had nowhere else to go so I suggested a discount on my stay. I was offered £5 off that night's bill (bringing £55 down to £50) which I laughed at and insisted he should be offering at least £10 off PER NiGht. still he said NO. I haggled and finally received £5 off plus a free beer from the bar and silver bowl to place in the sink to use for washing, brushing teeth etc, to facilitate easier emptying into the shower !
The kings head pub near by that we chose to spend time in rather than the disgusting room .
The stained carpet , the badly damaged furniture , the bath panel and windows which are rotten , the bedding , the damp patches on the ceiling , the broken door lock the curtains which didn’t fit the window & the dirty stained net curtains .
Woman on the reception was unbelievably nice. Gave me a fan when I mentioned how hot my room was.
Top floor room during the really hot weather. It wasn't too bad for me as the heat doesn't bother me too much but for someone else it might've been too much.
location was great, plenty of parking when we arrived, receptionist was friendly, room size was ok, shower was hot, overall, it was a good functional hotel.
The place is a little dated and the en-suite is a little on the small side but it's great as a base if you're visiting the area.
