The wonderful situation of the hotel abit rnu down in the bedrooms section awful coffee for breakfast
The staff were caring and helpful. The view of the sea was amazing. Strange smell in the room(not too bad).
Room with sea view was spectacular. The hotel is built on a cliff with a golden beach (coarse sand) beneath it. Reception were very helpful and friendly and the room rate was very good indeed. The room was very comfortable and relaxing. Attitude and working approach of the breakfast staff left a lot to be desired. They were noisy, sullen and on the first day when we were late down to breakfast one of them was very hostile. This would not be acceptable in a 2-star hotel and much less in a 4-start resort. In addition, why does the hotel charge for overnight car parking? This may be common in some hotels, but was unexpected for us coming from Ireland.
We stayed at a triple bed room which has fatastic view, we could see sunrise from sea on the bed. Blackfast and dinner was nice with reasonable price, we will stay the hotel again in case of visiting San jose again. highly recommended. Wifi is available only at public area/
Great location, comfortable room. Good breakfast. Restaurant expensive with very small portions. (Not for a hungry golfer). Bar closed at 12pm
Wonderful view from room of beach etc A bit far out from town, staff were not 'cheerful', decor needs some money spent on it, & 7euro per night car parking charge was a disappointing, hidden extra
The view from the room over the sea, beach, rocks and pine trees is stunning. One of the best breakfasts I've had in Spain; really lovely lounge, bar, terrance and spa. Unlucky they had a wedding party on the Saturday we were there but they stopped the dancing at 11.45pm so very good really.
The hotel is ideally situated about 15 mins walk from the town and commands beautiful views of the beach and cove below. As others have observed, the bedroom corridor needs new carpet which detracts from the otherwise quality feel of the hotel. The restaurant was disappointing but that wasn't really an issue as there is an excellent choice in the town.
The staff were very good, friendly & helpful, especially in helping us with our air carrier who lost our luggage. The noise. It is on a very busy main road, which was being re-paved at the time we stayed there. Ask for a room off the main road.
Nature, location, room price, breakfast..... drainpipe to sea, internet costs
Comfortable room and good shower Noisy at night and first thing in the morning (overlooks the market place)
excellent location, 2 mins walk from the beach. Hotel room very clean, soft towels, minibar and nice balcony overlooking the market square.
A small, friendly hotel, close to the beach and restaurants, and overlooking the market square. Clean comfy rooms with lovely soft towels which were changed each day. I had continental breakfast in my room each day, sitting on the balcony overlooking the market square where there was always something to watch going on. The roof terrace was ideal for sunbathing. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was a 2 minute walk to the fabulous beach. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel it does have its own restaurant, the Bahia, about 100 yards away on the promenade, which is excellent. The hotel is situated overlooking the market square and it was very noisy on the Sunday morning from an early hour as the market was being set up. The next morning the street cleaning truck was out early and was very noisy, and kept coming back around the square for well over an hour (this was around 7 a.m). The hotel is opposite the town hall and very close to the church, both of which had clocks which chimed every hour. Unfortunately they didn't chime at the same time, so at midnight there was a total of 24 chimes. This went on all night so made sleeping very difficult.
everything was good, in general no complains, great SPA area, breakfast, piano bar on saturday (live concert) if you are going to stay on weekend and want to use treatments and massages, make sure you made booking a couple of days before, normally treatments on weekends are fully reserved.
Breakfast was good. Hotel standard was good and more modern then some of the reviews I read. Location was great and very pitoresk up in the mountain in between 2 beaches. Especially receptionists are almost unpleasant and more or less ignore you. No brochure about the hotel available, no information abuot the surroundings and receptionist more or less very unhelpful, although i do speak Spanish. Hence just forget it if you don;t speak the language, even english is no good. Overall, very hard to get comprehensive information quickly about the hotel and surrounding precious villages, beaches , restaurants etc.
Clean and quiet The staff spoke very little English
breakfast good wellness center
Very good breakfast, pool and location. No air conditioning, no english language tv channels, very expensive bar, no alcohol or soft drinks in mini-bar.
location and quality
We loved our stay at the NM Suites in Platja D'Aro. Very nice hotel. Very quite. Excellent with little kids. Two blocks from the beach. Very clean. Excellent breakfast. Unlike many other hotels with searched on the web, it turned out that small children (3 years old in our case), pay 60% of an adult to our surprise.
room lovely clean and modern. No hot water, which lead us to being unable to use the fantastic bath and shower facilities provided, building work on going at hotel
The Breakfast, quiet and yet close to the sea and the Town Very few English TV Channels
The terrace for breakfast was very pleasant, the place is calm, the territory is nice, the balcony is big. bathroom with window the room was small, furniture was not comfortable (chair, fridge, wardrobe); the main question is that the room was sold at a price 115 euro pernight while the hotel price list at the reception stated 90 per night for a room. If booking.com do not charge any comisssion what was that?;) the breakfast was the same and very limited. Have to boil eggs by ourselves.
Deck and pool great, family room was spacious.
AC not working at our arrival, finally did 25 hours later. Noisy construction works in and around the building. Helpful and nice receptionist who did her best to fix things.
The location and cleanliness The staff are untrained and unhelpful. They enter the room without knocking or checking if you are there. The breakfast uses food which looks like it is leftover from the previous day, the eggs were so hard and dry you couldnt eat them.
Design No Internet station but only wifi
Comfortable bed, private balcony. Good breakfast. Very small room.
the view of a construction site.
due to a fire the week before the hotel was closed, for a few weeks booking . com should have know. It is a fabulous hotel otherwise the staff were amazing , we had the best ervice and the hotel all for ourselves , but of course no facilities that was the only reason we went to that hotelfor our wedding anniversary , we will be back next year definetly
Near to Playa D'Aro and fronts directly onto the beach although difficult to access. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff the opposite. Good sized room with terrace and sea views. Luxury fittings throughout and unusually furnished and decorated but all quality. A good four star hotel but not quite a five. Fairly small bathroom for all the fittings provided. Expensive for dinner served in comparatively small restuarants. Hotel not geared for children which suited us. Bedrooms overlook terracing to bar and restuarant areas which could prove noisy in season.
The hotel was just amazing, 5 stars in every respect. The spa was first class, the views from the pool were so nice, and the private beach cove was also really cool. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Overall, one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in, and it's unquestionably the spot to stay in Platja d'Aro if you're looking for something upscale. So what are you waiting for?!? Only slight negatives were there was some construction that blocked our ocean view from the balcony, and the a/c unit wasn't working properly so the room was hot and dry during the night (which probably would have been fixed if we'd noticed the problem before midnight).
The staff ~ friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel ~ Clean, fresh smart but cassual
Hi,I spent 17 days in Spain ( 30July-16 Aug) with my wife and son (9). Booked Cala del Pi. We were really upset, becouse this hotel is pretty far from being 5* grade European hotels. There are several reasons: a. sound insulation is the worst I ve ever seen. You can hear everything is going on in rooms around your room, and also how the housekeeper cleans the upper room in 8-30 in the morning. b.
The relaxed friendly atmosphere, spending the day in a bathrobe if you felt like it, great breakfast selection and beautiful views of the sea.
helpful staff, spa restaurant didnt have half of dishes and vines mentioned in menu; beach is too small and not kids friendly, we had to walk to other beach
otlichni recepshen.vsio u nix xorosho otdaxniosh v etom otele
Wonderful breakfast, perfect rooms and service, always a pleasure to be there
24 h service, friendly front desk staff
Not a 4 star hotel.rooms are 2 star, rest of hotel is 3 star
the hotel wasn't ready to welcomed guests and it lacks manteinance
Everything. the staff was very polite and helpfull, the room and the food was good.
Very little, thanks to a change of Management and in particular a steep decline in food and drink standards. The Hotel has gone "all inclusive"....a major mistake. Restaurant facilities severely declined and no waiter service or decent wines available. Food vey poor.
The ease of having teenage boys be able to run around safely. The bar right when we walked into the lobby. The buffet eating (even though it wasn't very good). The food was not very good. My pillows smelled bad. Room key issues the whole stay. Every day we had to get all new keys because they stopped working. Some front desk personal very unhelpful. Hot water issues in showers some of the stay.
The room I was moved to was far better than that originally allocated When I complained about the room I was first put in [windows covered with bird muck, and unopenable], staff said that I was allocated that room because I had booked on the internet and
de sfeer erg gezellig de luxe van het all inclusive goede variatie in eten soms wat lauw maar smaak prima iedere avond entertainment geen klachten de familie kamer beetje klein maar om te slapen prima erg schoon
Reception staff were excellent and the location is good. The bar service was pathetic.
Just value for money... Very basic. Even if it fits the 4 star hotel requirements unfortunately you do not fell like staying in a 4 start hotel.
Very serviceminded personnel which was very helpful as well as close to the beach makes this hotel to a good choice.
Very cozy hotel is full of pictures which create a unique atmosphere, friendly staff, proximity to the sea, good breakfast
Friendly staff, nice and clean, close to shopping and beach. Good beds. None
the location was excellent and if it had been a lot warmer we would have made much more use of the very large terrace
Location near beach The quality of the servicies and facilities clasify the hotel as a 2 stars one. The lobby is better than the room.
We were made very welcome and anything we wanted was provided without question. The staff could not have been better in their attitude, helpfullness or atentiveness.
Friendly helpful staff. Very good value for money. Excellently situated for shopping and beach. This was our second visit, and if we return to Platja d'Aro, would certainly stay in Hotel Claramar.
Close to the beach (although not in front of it), private parking, very friendly staff, and the beach itself. Going to the left one can find a lot of small lagunas. Some people complain about the noise, but the noise is coming mainly from the bar of the French hotel nearby :) Did not bother us.
Good price/value rate. The beach only 50 meters, and the buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff don't speak english or french.
A small hotel in a central position in the town and very close to the beach. The room was clean and comfortable with a single and a small double bed. Breakfast was reasonable with a range of cold food on offer but hot drinks were poor from a machine. If you wanted a decent cup of coffee you had to buy it. Wi-fi was available in the hotel reception area. Car parking was on the street and if you parked a couple of streets away, it was free. Overall, good value for money. Most hotels give you a small cover to go over the bedside mat. In this hotel however they didn't need to as there was no mat!
Relax and quieteness
Quiet and wonderful atmosphere. Excellent service and best staff.
Golf course, pool Uncomfortable low beds, poor quality mattress, pillow and linen, carpet old and dirty, cheap and damaged furniture, only Spanish channels on tv, overgrown neglected terrace.
The restaurant was great with good breakfast and excellent lunch/dinner buffet. The apartment which it was on the ground floor had a lot of humidity and the curtains were very dirty.
location near the beach and coastal walk guests a bit noisy in the large centre courtyard late evening
One room cleaning in 10 days is not enough for "3 star" hotel
perfect self-catering apartment ,with daily buffet breakfast and daily maid service.the living/kitchen and bedroom had open views to pool area, surrounded by trees and also to the rising sun over the horizon
Suitable for overnight stop, which meet our requirements, or an extended stay It may be worthwhile looking at your route information,on how to locate hotel,as we did have some difficulty.
It was great to have have a kitchen & patio area unlike a hotel where you do not have these facilities.
The location -close to beach and city, kindly service-personel, Parking facilities, noisy guests and no control from staff
the food was very good. breakfast was almost the same every morning, but dinner buffet changed constantly. also a very nice swimming pool, in the center of the complex. The staff was friendly. Supermarket was ok, but could be a little cheaper. Quiet environment, even though the center is just 5 minutes walking. Cala del pi was magnificent! Good and quiet Samsung airconditioning in the room, also in restaurant. Half an hour from girona airport = 50 euros taxi. We were 4 friends of 18, but this hotel was excellent, certainly when you go in september and share an appartment of 2-4 people, you get a very good value for your money. We arrived at 9 in the morning and could enter our room immediatly. The only thing we were a bit dissapointed in, is the fact that we didn't get new shampoo and shower gel during our stay. Maybe we should have asked about it, but normally that's not the way it goes.
if you only look for a place to sleep without any luxury and at a very good price, this is a very good place The walls are very thin and you can hear what's happening at your neighbours. When they are noisy, this become a problem.
free wifi, breakfast, very close to beach and restaurants
Very friendly staff, close to the beach
The hotel was very well situated for the beach, shops and restaurants. We realley enjoyed the breakfasts. The breakfast has a great choice of food for a 2 star! We've had a wonderful stay in Platja d'Aro (you also find the kindest staff there)its cozy, lovely and clean, great staff they give you a 5 star treatment! TV and air condicioned on the rooms.
We found the staff to be very helpful and they all spoke Engish , the Breakfast was very good, taking into account the price we paid. The room was basic but we only used it to sleep in so what the heck !.We were within a short walk to the beach and the local shops are great.A bargain break was had by myself and partner . We would be happy to go back again. We did have some rather loud guys on our floor in the early hours but it was stopped very soon after I called reception ( 24 hour manned )
The owner and the stuff would do all their best to make our visit comfortable. Were excellent and very informative with the recommendations what to do and what to see. As the location is very central because of the busy nightlife was a bit noisy, but this is the price you pay for the location...
Staff very friendly and helpful, Close proximity to Beach, Restaurants and Shopping Beds very uncomfortable. need to remove plastic covers and need new mattresses. Not all rooms have either balcony or roof top terrace. our room was nothing like advertised or photographed
The staff, especially the manager, did everything to make our stay enjoyable. Would definitely go there again. No.
The staff friendly and helpful, all spoke English. Good breakfast. The room was small and basic (also the price). Located on the main street 10 minutes from the beach. 12 Euro additional payment to the parking.
I liked the location of the hotel, the proximity to the beach and the shops. Some nights it was very noisy to late at night due to the bars nearby .
A good budget hotel. The staff were very helpful, close proximity to main street and shops
Fabulous in all respects - we stayed 2 days and it felt like a week Nothing
the hotel is beautiful with a lovely surroundings, the breakfast was good and we really loved the hotel. it has a wonderfull swimming pool and spa.
The position of La Gavina is stunning with the swimming pool overlooking the bay of S'agarro. We love the old-school luxury mixed with genuine caring and friendliness from the staff. Considering they are struggling to get guests this season you would have thought they might drop their prices a bit - it's very pricey!
The hotel is lovely, situated right next to the beach on the Costa Brava in a charming small town. The staff are phenomonally helpful and friendly, and directed us to not only some very good local restaurants and bars, but also to locations along the coast that we very much enjoyed. Our room was beautiful, and oversaw a beautiful stretch of the Med. We would absolutely stay here again.
The pool and spa were excellent and its situation overlooking the sea and beach were just brilliant. We stayed in a suite which had no balcony and for the astronomical price we paid I would have expected one. The shower was over the bath and once again I would have expected a separate shower in a suite.
The place is enchanting. The appointments are exquisite. The location is fantastic! Great place for couples, honeymooners, romance....The surrounding area and beaches are phenomenal! The only disappointment was that the candlelight restaurant which they are famous for was not open yet. Considering that it was the beginning of July and the weather was fabulous, I do not understand why they had not opened it yet. The hotel staff was very nice and attentive, however, they were mostly new and inexperienced.
Grand hotel....room, facilities, and staff were excellent. no
Nivel hotel close to the sea, ideal for families and quiet people. Quiet charm pool and large bedrooms. Not very modern though charming.
Fantastic Hotel. Staff really friendly, its in a central location right on the beach, plenty of choice for breakfast and the pool are is amazing, really relaxing. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Friendly, efficient staff. Lovely atmosphere - lots of family groups. Felt very genuine and obviously well liked by a regular (and Spanish) clientele. Location across from beach was wonderful as was the view from the bedroom and the sea air. Food was a little average but that did not detract from and enjoyable stay. Parking, like with many hotels on the Coast Brava, was a bit difficult on arrival but the Rosamar has a good and secure outdoor car park quite nearby.
Loved the scenary and the hotel's restaurant.
The hotel is beautifully situated and that's about the extent of strong positives. Breakfast was good and public areas are attractive. The rooms are in need of a makeover, bed poor, pillow worse. Arrived to a bathroom with strong, long lingering odour after recent use even though it had been cleaned. No smoke detector in the room. Staff were indifferent to the guests.
It is beautifully situated. The staff is attentive. The food is good. The view magnificent. The beds are only fair. New mattresses are in order.
Very pretty hotel, unusual location, perfect sea view from the window, very friendly and obliging staff. Close to the beaches and in walk distance to the city center and main activities.
very nice people, good location, good value for money
perfect location at seafront, 5 min from town center, quite and always cleaned up room, spacious accomodation, well done breakfast buffet extra pay for the small fridge (3EUR/day), reservation for parking didn't work
The hotel has a very good location. The breakfirst was very poor. The hotel is in bad need of repiar and is very negleted a lacks parking
The view of the sea is breathtaking. Loved the room, very clean and comfortable. We fell asleep to the sound of the waves - a pure delight. Excellent value, with full breakfast included, couldn't ask for a better deal. Location is excellent, beach on one side and a short walk to town sports centre and bus station.
Huge room , on the beach. is impossible to find the address if you come with the car because the street is on the beachwalk and there is no way to find it with the GPS. we lost alf an hour to find it goin on the beachwalk by foot until we saw it then we have to find coming in the regular street with car. the make you pay the "rent" of the minibar, wich is empty, just the fridge, they want 5 €.
Peace & quite No
I have been living in this hotel for 15 times between 1970 and 1985 in our summer school holidays. Every year with my family with two children. We came here because of the nearness to the beach, the friends that came back every year and the extreme good relations to the former owner, Ramon Bertran. I organized many hotel tennis tournaments and everybody wanted to book in when the tennis event went on. We had yearly football games between the guests and the hotel staff. These events were promoted by Mr. Bertran. Finally we were something like a social community. Because of old memories I came back here in 1996 and now. I still like the place and I was very happy to see at least two of the old staff: Isidro and Carlos. Everything was fine and as expected.
Second time here and was ideal for what we wanted, sea view rooms best as this hotel is located right on the beach. Easy walk to lots of shops and restaurants. It could do with a freshen up in general but rooms were very clean.
It was out of season so it was very quiet. The staff members were few but very helpful
Smart and clean and on the front with no noise at the time we were there Lack of information about the hotel,or restaurant,no menue dispayed for instance.
great location, includes a nice breakfast the rooms could use some updating
The hotel has an excellent location with short distancde to the beach and the center of Platja d\Aro The hotel is badly maintained and rooms and all other installations are worn. It does not earn 4 star staus
The location of the hotel is perfect in Plaja d'Aro. The crew is kind. There is free wifi. The room is clean and the bathroom is confortable.
good quality hotel
The receptionist was very efficient, friendly and charming. Room was clean despite the decor being dated. Decor was a bit dated and patio door lock was broken.
Lovely place..close to the sea they charged us in order to have my husband to bring breakfast for myself and our children back to our room...we were on holiday and it would be nice if we could relax without having to overpay.
excellent breakfast, shopping area close by check in at 3pm (late)
The hotel was very good. The town had everything. The local area was flat so walking was easy for the elderly. Nothing apart from the directions to the hotel were wrong. We downloaded them and entered into the g.p.s.and ended up in a residential area. You could say that it is next to the police station.
Easy to reach, close to the beaches and town centre, yet not in the thick of it either. Friendly staff, rooms are basic but clean and modern. Mattresses were a bit hard, didn't get as good a sleep as I could have.
Exellent clean friendly hotel quiet just what we wanted Coffee machine didnt work 3 mornings at breakfast 1 morning milk was sour for ceriels some nights were noisy outside hotel very late
Everything was perfect! the location, the breakfast, the staff...I will come back!!
Room comfort and facilities Noise coming from the street.
everything excellent accomadation for the price hotel new and modern very stylish the only slight negative was it was on the main road so a lot traffic noise at night but eveything else was 100% so it didnt matter
quiet place and next to shopping center. only 1 waiter is not friendly at all. The menu is in spanish language, i asked information and the waiter gor angry. No wi-fi in the room.
The Hotel was withing walking distance to the beach and shops. Hotel staff were helpful, even though they could learn a bit more english! But we managed to comunicate anyway. Overall, a nice small hotel.
The room was lovely, clean and fresh. The beds were very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast in the morning.
Hospitality of the reception personal and excellent garden
The garden breakfast could have a richer choice including "jamon iberico". The toaster is too slow.
Very nice garden with pool. Lots of flowers and luxuriant greenery. Parking just sufficient alongside the hotel building. Great value for money.
Impressive building, lovely gardens, spacious rooms. Bus stop nearby Noisy plumbing - ear plugs needed. About 800 metres from sea front & restaurants up hill so a challenge for the unfit! Could do with a second toaster - one unable to cope with even a medium rush.
Nice building with a pool. 10-minute walk to the city center and the beach. Very friendly and helpful people at the desk. No air conditioning in the room. Low-quality breakfast. Uncomfortable beds.
Large, lots of beds, friendly staff. Very difficult to check into, on a sketchy street.
Nice and cosy hostal located in walking distance from the beach (Platja Sant Pol). Beautiful garden.
Much better than I expected. Huge rooms and bathrooms. Very nice building and garden area. It was central to town. It's 3 star, but fine considering price. I thought garden would be much larger and the hotel was out of town. The garden is nice, but just grass around the pool.
Lovely pool and plenty deckchair space. Bar staff for pool bar extremely friendly and obliging. Central for exploring some fantastic beaches on the Costa Brava. Breakfast adequate and very pleasant outdoor tables at which to eat it. Hotel exterior pretty. Parking for guests. Located handily off main roundabout on approach to Sant Feliu du G. Bit of a trek down busy street to beach area if you had children and a lot of baggage but as we had car it was very handy not to have to join the beach traffic when leaving/arriving from other nearby nicer beaches.
The reception staff were excellent, the buffet breakfast was to our liking, the pool was a good size in a lovely garden and the rooms were clean and tidied every day. The staff spoke varying degrees of english but the daytime receptionist was exceptional. It is excellent value for money. It is a 10 minute walk from the main San Feliu beach or the beautiful Sant Pol beach. The road outside is quite busy but we were not really aware of it.
Having stayed there twice before with group of lads its ideal base Got there this time..no simming pool! complained and got room upgrade to very nice studio. Also beware..tried charging us more for drinks consumed after 11pm!
Quality vs price
location quite noisy, could be more clear
location Power cut, loss of water and elec. Sauna not avail on Sundays (?). Internet access broken. B'fast dire - felt we were interrupting staff break. Parking v difficult
situation near beach food
It needs to be renovated, not at all pleasant or cosy
Absolutely nothing Everything
one of the most beautifully appointed hotels ..elegant, stylish and so very well-maintained. It isn't convenient for those who wish to be near other facilities. No options re: food unless you have a car and can drive in and out to Palamos or one of the other nearby towns.
Delightful hotel, wonderfully stylish, very classy. The couches in the lobby are great for a cosy reading session. The bikes were very handy for the ride to the beach.
Great breakfast. The rooms were very large, clean, and comfortable. They have a great pool and are a 2 minute drive from a beach or about 15 minutes from nicer beaches in Begur. Overall this was a great escape. We were there mid-week. Things seem to get busier towards the end of the week with weekends breaks. Work around the grounds (mowing grass, etc) should be done at times when guests are not trying to enjoy the pool. This may have occured because we were there mid-week and it was not very busy. Hotel staff could be a bit more knowledgable in suggesting places to dine in the nearby area.
The location is very tranquil although I think that was because the hotel was quiet when we were there, it would have been a very different scenario during school holidays. The decor is interesting and the pool area looks very nice, and the gardens are well landscaped. The reception staff are 'cold' and not very professional. Also the restaurant food has gone downhill since our last stay 18 months ago.
La Malcontenta is a very charming hotel, where you find a very quiet environment, an historical building renovated with style, very comfortable suites, amiable and thoughtful staff and a wonderful garden with swimming pool. We enjoyed the place tremendously. We just regretted not to be able to stay longer.
Airconditioner did not work
Beautiful and peaceful setting. Excellent lunch and attentive staff in the restaurant. Used hotel bikes to cycle to the beach Quite an eclectic style which was not to my taste. Outdoor swimmming pool not heated
golof, sun, sightseeing, eating slightly understaffed
It was a beautiful hotel, the building and fittings are top class and the position of the hotel was just what we were looking for, peaceful quiet with lovely walks all around
it is very relaxing and beautiful surroundings
