Situated in Ponta do Sol, quietly located at the entry of the authentic fishing village, B&B Coração Ponta do Sol boasts a year-round outdoor pool and sun terrace. Guests can enjoy the bar. B&B Coração Ponta do Sol features free WiFi and massage. Transport taxi via the mountains with stops for pictures from the port to Coração, hikes and canyoning, can be organized and possibly shared with other guests on site.
Pros: Lovely new building, lovely pool, honesty system in the bar. Good breakfast. Friendly owners. Good location
Pros: B&B Coração Ponta do Sol is very quiet and very clean hotel with specious rooms run by very nice, extra-friendly people, who are always ready to help give you some hints regarding trekking paths in Sao Antao. Swimming pool is small, but enough to relax after 20km walks. Overall, highly recommended!
Cons: - WI-FI signal (access only in breakfast room and swimming pool / bar area) - breakfast could be improved
Pros: beds, rooms, bar
Cons: breakfast ok but not special
Pros: Hilde and Wim were always very helpful to organise our daily tours, walks, taxis, restaurants,... It is worth staying there a few days to enjoy this brand new house, perfectly located in Ponta Do Sol (near Paul valley, Crater, Corda road, sea side, many restaurants around, transportation). Equipment of the B&B is great : comfortable swimming pool, very clean rooms. Good breakfasts. You can even enjoy relaxing massage in the evening after a long day of hiking in the mountains. Great place to relax !!!
With a stay at Hotel Miranda & Miranda in Ribeira Grande, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Ponta do Sol Church and Ponta do Sol Town Hall. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
Pros: Great breakfast!
Pros: Nice family run hotel on the edge of town. Easy walk to the town center and restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff. Views of the ocean from 3rd floor rooms. Made lunches to go for hiking. Great value for the money.
Cons: No air conditioning. No fan. Need to sleep with window open for a breeze.
Pros: Staff was wonderful helping us to prepare our hikes, recommending rutes and booking us transport.
Cons: Everything was good. Just not so much water pressure but something understable seeing the situation of lack of rain in the area.
Pros: Comfy bed, very good breakfast for Capeverdian standards, great shower and nicely decorated rooms. The lady at the reception is very informative and helpfull.
Pros: Breakfast was very nice, however one day I got breakfast for 2 people (even though only 3 rooms were occupied, so it shouldn't be too hard to know how many people stay at your place). The location is very central in the tiny village of Ponta do Sol. My room had a nice balcony, but the sea view was not really given (unless you consider a little bit of water shining through other houses as "sea view"). I liked the stuff a lot and they are helpful with organizing Alugueres to go back to Porto Novo. Very comfortable bed and shower.
Cons: The sea view was a bit disappointing and the internet did only work temporarily in the room. In the lobby it was fine though. I was here in off-season, so the town is a bit lost and boring. There could have been a chair on the balcony to sit outside.
Pros: Excellent breakfast and confortable room. A great option.
Providing garden views, kasa Tambla in Ponta do Sol provides accommodation, a bar, a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi is featured. There is a private bathroom with shower and a hairdryer in each unit, along with free toiletries. Snorkelling and cycling can be enjoyed nearby.
Pros: Nice, clean, great view from upper room. Flexibly accommodated our requests, helpful staff.
Pros: Perfect location, great rooms, and amazing staff. A lot of great touches like a bucket to collect water when your shower is heating (to water the garden), finally somewhere with filtered water to refill bottles, and great breakfast.
Pros: Best location possible, clean rooms
Cons: Staff looked like they had seen a ghost, were distant and almost didn’t want to answer me when I spoke to them in Portuguese. Locals told me that the owner doesn’t treat staff very well, and the staff didn’t seem too keen on their boss. Also there was a homeless man sleeping in the breakfast area when I arrived late at night. That was a first for my hotel experiences... This hotel is somewhat of a French colony and I don’t think it makes sense to stay here if you’re not French, or if you want someone to smile at you.
Pros: The location could not be better - you are in the safe neighborhood just by the sea, right in the heart of the harbor and by the see. The place does not feel like a hotel, more like an intimate, comfortable villa, with a nicely hidden and decorated courtyard where you can chill, with books' room that you can borrow. The room and bathroom are decorated simply, but large, super clean and quite modern. I was super pleasantly surprised to find a hair dryer :) The breakfast is taken in the courtyard and delicious. The personnel are preoccupied by water saving & recycling - a nice touch.
Cons: In terms of personnel - You would need to speak some French or Portuguese - English is quite rare; it is a small inconvenience though.
Pros: Really nice place with awesome breakfast. Liked the detail that they had a clothline. Very helpful list of recommendations for the night
Cons: No van in the room
Pros: Location in center town. Friendly staff. Good service. Early breakfast related to leaving at 7:00 a.m. Help and advices on local transport and trips
Cons: Suite was not a suite. Bed/matras very hard; bad sleep both nights due to uncomfortable beds Not value for money. Did not meet expectations we got from the site and booking
Pros: The building is 4 floors high with character and nice looking that fits the environment (unlike the large Tiduca hotel next door). The location is right in front of the fishing harbor and if getting sea view from some of the upper floors, you have excellent views of the fishing activities (if the sea permits fishermen outings). The rooms are well equipped with fridge, hair drier and they are spotlessly clean. We traveled with our baby (8 month) and the crib provided was good, especially comfortable mattress. The ladies working in the kitchen and check-in are very friendly. The owner is a bit more reserved but also friendly and accommodating and very helpful to arrange transports at fair prices. Some nice touch in this property is some concern with the environment in certain details: offer to re-fill your own water bottles at reasonable price (so you don't need to constantly buy new ones), avoid AC by using windows in strategic position to create fresh wind flows (it really works well), use of large soap/shampoo dispenser instead of small packages. The breakfast is varied each day and excellent fresh and local choices of products (fruit, bread, jams, butter, coffee, juice).
Cons: There are only minor things that could be improved: the communication before arriving was only in french even though we sent the questions in portuguese (to arrange the transport and the baby crib). Once arriving to the property, the owner speaks fluent English also, and the workers speak very well French and Portuguese. The fridge is full of bottles (water, beer, juice) for purchase, which is against the eco conscious details of offering to re-fill your own bottles.
Pros: Wonderful staff, great view from upstairs terrace, warm welcome, nice slightly different breakfast, good hiking tips.
Cons: Lunch picnic could have been better. No WiFi in the rooms (not a problem, but good to know).
With a bar and a terrace, Casa D'Mar is situated in Ponta do Sol and features free WiFi. There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. A buffet breakfast is available each morning at the bed and breakfast.
Pros: the owner gives great tips for hiking, even with explanation cards - makes this place stand out
Pros: Marlene and Guillaume's Casa d'Mar was a home in an already great location, a few minutes' walk from the port, with the sound of waves coming through the open windows. The rooms are nicely decorated with comfy beds, there are free books for one to take, and the breakfast is great and changing every day, always with something new, either a banana with syrup and eggs, or crepes, and an assortment of tropical fruit jams. Marlene was always super nice and flexible even when I needed to have breakfast at 6h30 one morning. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Ponta do Sol!
Pros: Excellent location. Friendly and extremely helpful owners and staff. Fantastic shower and excellent wi fi. Great breakfasts.
Pros: Pancakes were delicious :) The driver Day was very professional. Marlene (hostess) was an amazing guide what to do and don’t. Nice ocean breeze at night.
Pros: Loved everything. Family run guest house, view of the ocean, great breakfast with local poducts. Loved the village and the ocean front, even if it's not a swimming beach. Lots of games.
Cons: wifi didn't work in the room and I needed to get work done... everything else was great and comfortable like home.
Pros: Ponta do Sol is a very cute town in a great setting by the ocean and mountain (better than staying in Ribiera Grande). Casa D'Mar is in a good location, though, you can't really go wrong in such a small place. Nice breakfast. Liked that you could use the clothesline on the rooftop terrace. A collective taxi was arranged for us to return to Porto Novo for the ferry.
Cons: The wifi would not reach our ocean view room, even though the property is very small. It didn't seem quite as charming and welcoming as other reviewers suggest. Perhaps it was because the owners were away. The person who checked us in was still very nice and did her best to communicate with us in English.
Pros: It was near perfect
Cons: It was near perfect
Pros: The sea roaring just a few meters from the building under our window. The entrance
Cons: The street under the main entrance should be paved so you don’t have to walk through mud if it is raining. And the receptionist would not have to clean the floor in reception all the time.
Boasting a garden, Casa Santa Barbara Deluxe is situated in Ribeira Grande. There is an outdoor pool and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. At the guest house rooms are fitted with a wardrobe and a private bathroom. Guests at Casa Santa Barbara Deluxe can enjoy a continental breakfast.
Pros: Location quiet and close to the city center Free WiFi Staff was very nice and helpful
Cons: Only speak Portuguese which could be complicated at some point to exchange with them
Pros: Beautiful garden around the house, quite close to the town center, air conditioning in the room
Cons: Dot on the map should be corrected. It is misleading and not showing exact place of the guesthouae
Pros: Really cool place, awesome pool and nice rooms. Huge terrace and many spots to hang out and relax.
Pros: -Perfectly located for hiking trips -lovely host and staff -You can relax in the pool at the end of an exhausting day
Cons: Nothing - everything was perfect
Pros: Nice accomodation with beautifull view
Pros: Very friendly and helpful host, nice and clean pool, beautiful garden, nice room - we would absolutely stay here again!
Cons: Complaining on a high level: More shade in the pool-area and more comfortable chairs would be nice (no plastic). Tons of flies during the breakfast were a bit annoying - that's probably not something that can be changed though
Located in Ponta do Sol, Música do Mar features a restaurant, bar, terrace, and free WiFi. The guest house has family rooms. Guest rooms at the guest house are equipped with a private bathroom equipped with a shower. Música do Mar offers a continental or vegetarian breakfast.
Pros: Great location and ambience in the evening when musicians come to play
Cons: Noisy chickens outside very early in morning!
Pros: Fantastic sunset view from the room's balcony. Lovely, simple decor. Friendly, helpful staff. Delicious dinner.
Pros: Good breakfast, and okay dinners. Excellent location and view from the room. There were also live music one night. Very atmospheric and amazingly they played so that even our baby could sleep in our room which was above the restaurant.
Cons: A cot for baby would have been nice. Reception was closed for two three hours a day.
Cons: Too many flies at breakfast!!!!
Pros: The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is by the sea in Ponta do Sol. Our room was looking at the back alley but it was ok (quiet). The breakfast was of good variety. They arranged someone to buy ferry tickets for us (no extra charge, so we did not need to go to Porto Novo), and our transport with aluguer to Porto Novo the last day. We were happy with our stay. I just wished they accepted credit cards but that is a regular thing in Cape Verde.
Cons: Flies everywhere at the breakfast place, however this was also typical in Cape Verde in restaurants outdoors
Pros: Friendly staff, excellent location, good value for money
Pros: The location and balcony sea views
Cons: Room size was a little small for a couple and toddler.
Pros: Nice hotel in the charming place of Ponta do Sol, next to the sea. Hotel is good situated, our room had a Nice balcony with full seaview
Cons: Room could use Some extra curtans against light amd the place was quite noisy of closeby boulevard and sea
Pros: Fantastic location right by the water
Pros: Very clean, superb location close to ocean
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable. Unfortunately it is nothing they can do anything about it, but neighbors roosters started in middle of the night
Located in Ribeira Grande, Questel BronQ Eco Lodge is in a rural location and within the vicinity of Ponta do Sol Town Hall and Ponta do Sol Church. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Excellent location, nice bungalows, refreshing swimming pool and very good meals! Helpful owner.
Cons: Very clean but unfortunately a persistent bad smell coming from the bathroom.
Pros: The view to the sea and if luck you can see whales! The contact with the owner who offered us punch and "grogue"
Cons: For dinner, we haven't been asked of what we wanted and have been served a "large "dinner ( 1500 escudos). We would have certainly only taken a main dish (800 escudos)...
Pros: Situation - very good for the coastal track. Food, well cooked and tasty. Friendly and informative host and staff. Reasonable value. Stayed in another location later which was overall better value.
Cons: Shower - no hot water - OK, we should have said something but we were so tired we didn't want the bother of sorting it out. The evening meal was good. However had to eat in a "group" situation with other guests, who were also walkers. This format doesn't suit everyone. We were hoping to get away from any discussion about Brexit in our home country of the UK but our fellow europeans were rather keen to discuss it at length after the meal. A bit wearing but they were nice people.
Pros: Perfect location, friendly staff.
Pros: The place is uniquely located
Cons: It’s kind of isolated but that can also be a good thing after the walk from ponta do sol
Pros: The breakfast was big and tasty. Dinner was good quality but a bit pricy (1500 cve per person) . The view was amazing with a pool facing the ocean. The hosts were very simpatic.
Cons: We got cold water in the shower (maybe a temporary problem). Twin beds not comfortable.
Pros: Large clean room with great views of sea and mountains. Large pool, generous simple cooking for dinner, adequate breakfast. Lots of local information available, helpful owner. Accepts Visa cards.
Cons: By the end of the afternoon the bathroom began to smell from the shower drain. Easily solved however by running some water in the shower to refill the siphon.
Pros: Fantastic location
Cons: The weather...
Pros: Location is rather remote, but awesome. It is one of the great flavors of Santo Antao. You can do great hikes around the hostel. People are very friendly, especially host Ben Dos Santos, a man with a very turbulent family history. From your bed you can see the see. Food is great, both breakfast and diner is a buffet, you can choose whatever you want.
Pros: The area where hotel is located is very beautiful. Also the hotel itself is very nice, the huts itself are big and spacious. Pool is nice touch and you can enjoy the view of the sea or mountains.
Cons: The location is isolated but if you take Aluguar from Porto Novo to Ribeira Grande and from Ribeira to Cruzinha ( the hotel is 5 mins walk from there ) the way will cost for 2 people 15€ OR you can pay at the end of your stay 35€ for hotel transfer (1 way) , also it would be nice if we knew about 15€/pp for dinner -breakfast is included . All together it is really good if you use public transport and go for dinner to village next door and after enjoy the hotel amenities.
Pros: Good location, short walk into town for some lovely restaurants by the sea, also a short walk to start the famous coastal trail, amazing breakfast!!!
Cons: WiFi was only accessible downstairs and not in the rooms, band were playing very loudly one evening right outside my window and couldn’t sleep, beds were a bit hard and staff couldn’t speak much English
Pros: good breakfast, friendly staff, delicious poncha maracuja and old grog :-)
Cons: WIFI strength to improve, the staff do not speak english
Pros: A good place for people that like to go for trekking. Nice staff that are always there to help you if you have questions about the hikes. Price quality is a 8,5!
Cons: The rooms are very clean but during our 5 nights stay the bathroom was not cleaned and we had to trow our towels on the floor if we wanted them to give us new ones.
Pros: good breakfast, staff flexibility , clean rooms and common areas
Cons: We booked the place mainly as we though that we could get trekking information, or at least this is what we understood from the general reviews. This was a wrong assumptions, we guess, since we received information only about the main popular hikes.
Pros: Nice room, good breakfast (only the coffee could be better), very nice staff
Pros: Huge room. Big bed. Amazing breakfast and fast wifi (but only downstairs). View to the ocean.
Pros: - clean and cheap - plentiful breakfast, very welcome before a day of trekking The restaurant downstairs is also nice (recommendation : the grilled octopus)

When you a stay at Sol Point Art in Ribeira Grande, you'll be on the waterfront, within a 5-minute walk of Ponta do Sol Town Hall and Ponta do Sol Church. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is available for a surcharge.
Pros: The staff was friendly. The room was very big with a nice shower and tv. Well-located behind the main square of Ponta do Sol. Good breakfast.
Cons: There was a small issue with the payment. The owner asked us more money than expected for the room. Probably a problem related to booking.com because he showed me the invoice and I showed him my invoice and they were different...
Pros: Facilities were all very new, almost like a new apartment. Guests get access to the lounge on the top floor where there is a fully equipped kitchen, balcony, dining set and sofas. Because there arent that many lights around, we were able to see the stars from the deck chairs of the balcony. The airport transfer was arranged very easily by the receptionists. The alguier came right in front of the hotel it was very convenient.
Cons: Because the hotel is right next to the sea, the wind outside was extremely strong, a lot colder than expected. Not a big deal, but it is worth mentioning that WiFi is available only in the reception and the lounge.
Pros: Lovely hotel, very peaceful location and great seaviews. It's also very handy to the square where transport goes from. Staff went above and beyond to welcome us, and were so kind to us preparing a delicious homemade Cachupa, and homemade drinks in the new restaurant! We've also enjoyed the lounge in the top floor with the little library! We think it's the best hotel in Ponta do Sol, and that's the best place to be in Santo Antão, especially post hiking! Cape Verde is effortlessly cool and cosy!
Pros: The staff upgraded our room for no charge but we ended up paying more than we expected when reserved on the website - this could be because of the travel tax also (which was also said it's included in the price when we reserved on booking.com)
Cons: We needed to pay the extra city taxes even though it was said they were included in the price
Pros: The young lady at reception was cheerful, helpful and lovely to deal with. There are spacious, furnished balconies on two levels to enjoy the sea view and breeze and a comfortable lounge for guests to use. There is also a large, sheltered seating area outside (no view).
Cons: Poor internet connection except in the lobby, water shortages (this didn't appear to be a problem in other accommodation in Ponta do Sol), noise from nearby building works, walking back in the dark.
Pros: This was an amazing stay - actually the owners closed the hotel to renew it but forgot to take it off booking - but when they found out that we booked a room they opened it just for us. We got an AMAZING room with even better view, some (free) tasting of Grog and smiling personnel. We just adore this place. OH AND THE BREAKFAST - wow!wow!wow!
Cons: If you're super lazy and it bothers you that you need to walk for 5 minutes to the city center and 10 minutes to the ocean cost it's not a place for you - but please! DON'T BE LAZY! It's worth not being :)
Pros: The hosts and stuff was very friendly and did everything to help you. And the breakfast was delicious.
Pros: Very friendly welcome, lovely place with great views, very well equipped, very clean, close to village center .
Pros: Beautiful place, beautiful landscape, very helpful stuff.
Cons: We didn't like the food (They tried to do the best, but it was not good), and the bathroom is very old and rusty. They don't use any chemicals in the pool but they change the water 2 times a week, which is not very eco due to my opinion.
Pros: The view and location were good. The pool area was very nice to relax after some hiking. Breakfast was big but nothing special however the eating area has a great view.
Cons: We struggled to get a double bed during check in even with a booking reserve for a double room. Old room with broken parts offered, TV with only one channel (not important to us), problems with toilet and shower was not working well. No kettle available in the room. Dinner buffet is expensive for the quality offered unless you are looking for quantity.
Pros: Incredible location - a true oasis and I’m pretty sure the place to stay on San Antao- great value for money
Pros: Magnificient view of valley and mountains. We had dinner and breakfast we stunning view. Very quiet and serene surroundings. Extremely helpful staff
Cons: The room is very basic and dark
Pros: Breakfast Swimming pool area Cleaning room Staff is very kind and helpful.
Cons: The hotel it’s nice, but since Santo Antão is complex to understand - the staff could know better about the taxi prices and the hiking trails and others sights to visit in the Island. When we arrived they didn’t told us where were we, how we could get to the another city, witch trail fits us better and how it would cost. Because of this lack of information we lost some Money and time trying to figure it out what to do. Although the hotel is situated in beautiful spot, the location isn’t the better. If you want to dinner in another village you will pay 40 euros to go/back. For those who want to be more isolated its a great place, but for those who want to enjoy a little bit off some music and drinks, Porto Sol is the better option.
Pros: The property is charming, and the rooms are stone houses. The breakfast was terrific. I loved the banana cookies. The price is inexpensive, so I had low expectations. The property is the nicest on the island, but that is not saying much.
Cons: The bathroom looked yucky. The rooms don't have internet and by 10:30 at night, the staff left the main area so I could only work if the security guard came up to the dining room. I had a room far away, and there were minimal lights lighting the path. A staff worker graciously offered to walk me to my room.
Pros: The views of the surrounding mountains during breakfast were amazing. The style of the resort gives it a nice atmosphere, making it a small oasis in the valley.
Cons: The room had a TV with just one channel (football). I would prefer a painting. Couldnt pay with Mastercard (Visa worked in the end). The food at the restaurant was bit better than average but could be better.
