9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a charming experience as we were welcomed into the home of our hosts- into a self contained and very comfortable part of their house. They were friendly but not intrusive and could not have been nicer. Advice about where to go for dinner (wine and a chat with them first) and an outstanding breakfast of home made jams, breads, cakes and puddings. All was spotless and well thought out. Couldn't recommend more highly for those who enjoy a personal touch.
Cons: Nothing. Had to drive a bit to Brissac for supper but that was easy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were varied each day, everything was home made, complimented with various fresh breads from the local boulangerie. Very welcoming owners. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous property, spacious bedroom and en suite. Very comfortable bed, spotlessly clean. Outside space for sitting in the sun. Not far to nearest supermarket.
Cons: Couldn't fault it. Not easy to find, but we asked in the village and soon found it. Just outside the village.

Pros: Delightful hosts, quiet location, excellent breakfast. First class all round
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super breakfast with Norwegian bread, crumble, crème brûlée (be warned, not bacon and eggs, this is obviously not the style of the house!), at very reasonable price (5€ / pers.). Very helpful and friendly staff. As our stay was in winter it was very pleasant to be able to walk bare foot in the room thanks to the underfloor heating. Large and comfy room and bathroom with a very nice old armoire.
Cons: The weather was not too sunny on that day!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Wonderful breakfast all home made. Lovely room with a patio overlooking a vineyard. Tea & coffee available to make anytime. Our second visit. Hosts are very friendly & helpful.

Pros: We spent two weeks visiting castles of the Loire valley and stayed in different towns and apartments but this place impressed us best of all. We liked this old magnificent house from the first moment we saw it. Eric and Christine met us and showed us our room. When we entered the house we could immediately feel that it was filled with the authentic air of the late Middle Ages. Everything was so charming, especially the beautiful dining room with the big fire place. Despite the house is old and located in the quiet picturesque village it has all conveniences and Eric and Christine did the best to make our stay comfortable. We would like to thank them for their hospitality and special thanks for the tasty and delicious breakfasts!

Pros: Super old building which is being lovingly restored by the owner. Eric was very informative and took the time to show us around. Beautiful, big, airy rooms, restored thoughtfully with the bathrooms to a very high standard. Nothing too much trouble for Eric. Beautiful location, so quiet and peaceful, with loads of wildlife.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful blend of a remarkable, 500-year-old estate combined with very clean, comfortable, modern conveniences. We were warmly greeted by Eric, who proved to be a most amiable host. He told us of amazing local sites which the "travel sites" do not mention and suggested good restaurants. We absolutely recommend this extraordinary secret and would not hesitate to return.

Pros: This is one of the nicest places we have stayed. Our tastefully decorated room was in a converted barn, which had bags of charm. Breakfast was excellent, with home made jams and freshly squeezed orange juice. As guests we were definitely made to feel welcome at their lovely home. Le Bignon - Jarzé-Villages - Bedroom
5
9.7 Excellent (48 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our booking was made at very short notice but the proprietors, Wendy and Peter, were very welcoming, accommodating and helpful. Wendy kindly sat us down with a pot of tea while making finishing preparations to our room. We had the 'red room', which was very clean, airy, comfortable, and full of character and nice touches. The en-suite was roomy with a good walk-in shower. The in-room tea making facilities included bone china cups, which always make tea taste better! Le Binyon has a nice rural setting about a mile from the village of Jarzé and just a few miles from the small town of Bauge, where Wendy made us a dinner reservation at an excellent restaurant. Our stay was made complete by an beautiful breakfast and we really couldn't have asked for more.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Great Breakfasts, beautifully presented
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We found Le Bignon to be well situated for an overnight stay on our way back to the ferry at St Malo but next time we would like to stay longer. Our room was extremely pleasant and comfortable. Peter and Wendy were perfect hosts who were attentive and helpful but not intrusive. Breakfast was excellent. We would recommend a stay at Le Bignon.
Cons: We could not think of any way to improve our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners went out of their way to ensure that our special breakfast needs were catered for. We were welcomed with a much appreciated "cup of tea".
9.5 Excellent
Pros: the welcome from the owners was amazing, the fact that we did have a dog and they made her welcome and she slept in the car.
Cons: May be some more fruit at breakfast time and may be an offer of an egg or something simple. The owners did ask us in the evening but sometimes you don't know until you get up, especially, and as our alarm had gone off at 5.30 am, we were hungrier than normal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tea and biscuits on arrival, swim in the pool, and when we asked Wendy where to get supper she suggested that Peter (who was out shopping) could buy us what we needed and they'd set up a table by the pool. Peter returned with baguette, pate, cheese, salad and so we had a delicious meal in the evening sunshine. Perfect.
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were lovely as was the welcome and the dinner.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were welcomed by Wendy and Peter and had beautifully furnished, comfortable rooms in a tranquil setting. Peter prepared a delicious vegan meal for us and the fact the car trouble had delayed our arrival was not an issue. Breakfast looked beautiful and tasted great and our various dietary preferences were catered for without a fuss. We would highly recommend and loved seeing and hearing the owls.

Cons: Breakfast (7 am-9am) and checkout (10am) were a little early but would stay there again
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice renovated old chateau
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We visited 6 hotels/B&B in France during our vacation and this one was the best! It's really a castle! Alive history! Very big rooms, king-size beds, very high ceilings, castle-windows, special princess-table for make-up, big garden... Beautiful views inside and outside. Breakfast was perfect! With alive flowers on tables, fresh croissants and a rich choice of different yogurts, cheese, ham, fruits and others. My friend told just as a joke that there was not his favorite cheese for breakfast, and already on the next day this cheese was on our table! Personal is very kind and friendly. We liked this castle so much that decided to change our plans and keep there for one night more. The price for one night was unbelievable cheap for such kind of hotel! By the way... It's a charity-hotel. They work for children and they spend most part of profit for children. Staying in this hotel it's not only a big joy, but also a good deal. If I could I would give to this hotel 6 stars from 5.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: considering old building the quality inside was excellent. Very modern and clean. Plenty of towels and breakfast was very good
Cons: Reception not manned all the time. Being handed a remote control for the TV which was kept in a locked cupboard and having to remember to return it upon vacating the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was incredible for the price I paid and we had a lovely dinner (made by ourselves with the facilities provided) sipping on wine looking out from the 2nd floor gallery looking out over the Vista. Really nice that the funds raised by the hotel supports looking after people with special needs. Lovely lass in reception whose English was very good pointed us in the direction of the corkscrew!
Cons: There was a film crew at breakfast with a rather annoying young American telling the world that there was a secret passageway in the breakfast room. It was neither particularly secret nor a passageway...it was a toilet! It did provide us with some entertainment though!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Accommodation in a real château, nice location in nature, very quiet and peaceful, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, great price / quality
Cons: No fridge
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely welcome. The staff were really great at fulfilling my request for an accessible room, due to an injury. The breakfast is wonderful. The welcome is warm, and then you are left with privacy to explore the lovely surroundings. We love this place.
Cons: One thing-please if you provided a squeedgee ( dont know the French word- but a thing like a window cleaner on a long stick, with a rubber blade on one end), then the bathroom would be easier to use, as the shower tray is too shallow, and the shower is fixed so that it cant be turned downwards, therefore the bathroom floor floods once the shower has been used. This could be made easier for guests by providing this tool (described above) so that water could be directed easily away from the door and back into the shower tray. Also-thanks for allowing us to take breakfast at 9.30 instead of 9am. We would find it better if the breakfast was a bit later, and checkout a little later too. If breakfast was until 10, and checkout possible for 11 we would be much less hurried. I wonder if this could be by request? It would make a huge difference. Don't let these things put you off staying-these are tiny details, and the place is just lovely.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and clean rooms.
Cons: No airconditioning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great welcome, beautiful walks all around, wonderful size rooms and a lovely setting
Cons: All great. The shower ran out onto the floor- there are issues with water leaks, and shallow sinks/shower tray, but really, the place is wonderful

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was romantic and owner was very friendly. He and his family welcome us. I was impressed their hospitality.
Cons: None.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely loved our stay at Chateau de Brissac. We sought an authentic Chateau experience; to be in close contact with years of history, to experience a small taste of life as noble folk (just out of curiosity) and to get a genuine feel for the Loire Valley. What we got was more than expected... our bedroom was so grand I couldn’t suppress my nervous laughter as we followed our host past the enormous, intricately carved four-poster bed. Tapestries draped on walls, ornate beams, historic artefacts strewn about the place - everything everywhere oozing history evoked a sensation of this being a seriously special place. It was overwhelming, but in a really, really good way. The ante-room and bathroom suite, whilst period, were fully functional. The bed, despite being initially viewed as more for show proved more than comfortable. Basic modern facilities were provided (coffee & tea, etc) but paled into insignificance considering the environment. We bumped into the owner who was convivial and welcoming. What more could you ask for than a warm welcome from the chateau owner?! We wandered around the grounds while mere day visitors made their way home. We felt special. Highly recommended. If this review has piqued your interest you’ll love this place.
Cons: Nothing. The other half felt the room was a bit spooky at night, which isn’t necessarily a negative.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic property. Renovated, cozy kitchen for dinner and breakfast. Wonderful managers, dogs and sheep!
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Not much- looked good on paper. Did not live up to advertisements.
Cons: Dirty cups in room. Shower totally impractical and no door to toilet. The owner was very aloof and seemingly uninterested. Advertised as in top b&b in France. It may have been in 2014, but certainly not now. Lack of off road parking. We were booked for 2 nights and were that disappointed that we left after 1 night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel garni Le Mouton is a nice idyllic place away from the trouble of any cities / touristic places. You have a pool, a whirlpool and a beautiful garden with a sheep, 2 dogs, a horse and a cat. It is quite familiar with the friendly host and you can request a 4 step dinner there as well (very tasty with lot of good wines). The style of the house and the rooms is fantastic!
Cons: If you want to find something: the bathroom is a part of the normal sleeping room (at least we know for the rooms in the second floor). As well below the roof you have to take a little care for your head when you are tall and there is a little dust but that fits perfect to the natural spirit of the house.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: What a find! Made instantly welcome into a fusion of ancient and modern. The renovation to the Manoir has been made with sensitivity; brought up to date with a mixture of older furniture and modern art. Wonderful formal and informal gardens. Good local advice and recommendations by Renard, the owner, made our short stay something to remember.
Cons: Leaving.

Pros: What can we say - AMAZING - if you are reading these reviews and looking to stay in this area you will not be disappointed. Renard and Mark two fantastic hosts , the property and grounds are just incredible. The rooms spotless and comfy. Breakfast fresh bread, homemade jams, home grown fruits, juice plenty of tea and coffee. Outdoor swimming pool was added bonus. The peace and quite here is nearly difficult to get used to. Because there are very little restaurants open in the area on Sundays, they offered to cook dinner for us and the other guests that we staying there - What a delicious meal and a great fun evening. We will be back- Thanks Renand and Mark .
Cons: Having to leave

Pros: The Manoir de Jouralem is a charming Manor House set in a stunning location in the Loire Valley. The house is full of character and a refreshing change from multi national hotels. My wife and I stayed in the Le Dauphin suite, a spacious oak beamed bedroom with high quality linens and bedding and a bathroom featuring a suburb roll top bath. Mel and Hywel who own the property were perfect hosts catering for our every need. Highly recommended.

Pros: Staying at this recently renovated home with hosts Mel and Howell was fabulous! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and appreciated all the little details that went into making our stay memorable. We were greeted with a local sparkling wine and learned a little about the area and the home. With some time to relax, we enjoyed our spacious room and time to unwind before dinner. Howell prepared a fabulous multi-course meal with local ingredients. We ate with the other guests and had a delightful evening. We felt at home and want to return soon!

Pros: Stayed the night as a stopover to the South of France. Very quiet but staff excellent. Had a nice meal in the restaurant where a menus in English was provided. Hotel is next to a petrol station where the prices are about 20c cheaper than the motorway rip off ones

Pros: Helpful and smiling staff. Bright and cheerful public ares and bedroom. Lift. Secluded parking close at hand.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A good selection of main courses and desserts in the restaurant. Friendly receptionists and the location of the car park being next to a SuperU petrol station and supermarket,
Cons: The carafe of red wine was not good and if it had come from a bottle, which I doubt, I would have said it was corked. As I did not want to spoil the ambience of the evening with my wife I did not complain - perhaps I should have done so.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and fabulous food.

Cons: Breakfast could be better Slow wifi
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is located in Trelaze, about 5 kms from the centre of Angers. The hotel is very modern with large spacious rooms, quality fixtures & fittings, and good air conditioning. It also provides free on-site parking. We did not explore surrounding area for restaurants, etc., although hotel has an on-site restaurant, and hotel's location allows easy direct access into Angers
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist Melanie couldn't have been more helpful when we arrived and went out of her way to ensure that all was in order for our overnight stay. Room was quiet and comfortable. We were travelling on motorbikes which were garaged below at no extra cost.
Cons: Rooms were fine but the restaurant area looked like it was set up for Valentine's Day ! Fine for couples - but not for two lads travelling on motorbikes. Still , only a minor glitch which gave us a laugh. There is nothing to do within walking distance of the hotel as it seems to be set in a very residential area. Get to breakfast early or there will be none left !!
