Beautiful, historical and amazing viewx
To stay in such an historical place and have the views and scenery was amazing. The comfort level was reasonable for such an old building. The bathroom was old and did not feel so fresh. The Covid19 restitutions were in place and enforced, ate breakfast in separate rooms at specified times. The restaurant was a disappointment- had read so much positive but rather average.
The restaurant was not the standard claimed
Very good
location beautiful, rooms and bathroom great, all very clean and staff very friendly
Breakfast was in a different building and not as shown in the pictures online. Castle was smaller then it looks like online
Superb
A lovely family run property in a beautiful setting. The room was very comfortable, and the history of the property was fascinating. We used it as an overnight stop en route from France to Portugal, handy location just north of Salamanca.
Nothing at all!
Very good
Was a stunning historical building in the middle of the countryside. The staff were all fantastic.
Exceptional
We loved staying 5 nights at the Castle. I celebrated my Birthday there and the service was excellent. Great food also. We took our dogs, and everything was great. Good health safety measures for Covid-19. We felt safe, and came home to Portugal safely.
Very good
Lovely secluded castle setting. Great stop over from Santander on route to Portugal with our dog
Poor Wi-fi but who needs its !
Quirky Castle
Stunning grounds, good location for us to stop for the night on route to Santander ferry port.
Very tired and dated inside. Some staff are a bit frosty, customer service training definitely required. Restaurant not great, a pity.
Dormir en una estructura medieval
The medieval castle it was amazing. The structure of it and the idea of sleeping a historical place was awesome. The staff was very approachable and kind.
The area of the pool was a little unconffatable. I am sure they can change the sun beds for other more trendy and cozy. The same thing for the decoration of the rooms. It was a little poor. It was also a lot of flyes in the pool area.
Exceptional
Fascinating building dating back to the 11th century. Well restored with excellent attention to detail. Room spacious and comfortable, large beds, bathroom a good size. Staff most welcoming and friendly. Restaurant provided delicious offerings and at sensible prices. Thoroughly recommended.
Beautiful yet disappointing
The breakfast was great and so was the restaurant. The castle itself was spectacular and so were the facilities.
I tried calling the hotel many times and didn't get a call back. After emailing and reaching out to the hotel's instagram I was finally able to he a hold of someone by phone. I was extremely disappointed because we were supposed to get married September 5th and had to cancel it because of COVID. We came to the hotel to celebrate what would have been our special night and lets just say the customer service was horrific. The person on instagram said they'd put a candle on our table and when we arrived at the hotel they didn't even have a dinner reservation for us. On top of that I wanted to book a couples massage and that was impossible. Additionally on the booking reservation I asked if it was possible to have Champagne sent to the room and it immediately got declined. The breakfast was great and so was the restaurant. The castle was spectacular but the staff working definitely did not make the experience magical.
Passable
Breakfast was to late had coffee in the bar
Lots of dust everywhere should do a deep clean, wooden toilet seats very unhygienic
A very nice time and...
Great breakfast, We ate outside on the lawn and everyone was at a distance and when not at the table all wore masks.
Would have liked more outside eating on the terrace.
Exceptional stay
Overall, it was a perfect experience. Great location surrounded by nature. It was peaceful and conformable with fantastic panoramic view.
The receptionist Luis was incredibly kind and helpful. Thank so much.
Very good
breakfast options were quite limited.
The location, nature...the breakfast...
Unfortunately the standard rooms are basement rooms. We usually enjoy waking up to sumshine at home, so difficult not to do it on holiday...
The swimming pool area was fabulous. The setting was outstanding.
Although the location was beautiful, it was in the middle of nowhere so you couldn’t walk into into town or village to explore. It didn’t quite have the personal touch with the staff that I like. It was very directed to get the job done and no interaction. The food in the restaurant was quite poor and expensive. The wine was lovely and very well priced. Shame about the food !
Exceptional
Beautiful castle! Absolutely enjoyed it, highly recommended
Lovely location, can see it being an amazing place in the summer. The food was great, but some confusion on second day be we had breakfast fit for a king
Would highly recommend going in car as there are not many facilities about locally.
Very good selection for Continental Breakfast. Lovely Breakfast Room in Castle Cellar.
I would have expected eggs to be on the Breakfast Menu of a Hotel of this standard
Just wonderful to stay in a 600 year old castle with great rooms and good and wine. Even a reasonable price. Don’t miss this great experience.
Nada
A Hotel with historic backgrounds and very well kept, peaceful and set in the country side, parking easy, room was a good size, and just a short drive to Salamanca.
A very grand castle, absolutely stunning. Rooms styled in a medieval way. Our room was very comfortable with very large bed. We have booked another overnight stay on our way home. We had breakfast in our room - very plentiful - eggs, bacon (for a supplement), bread, pastries and cakes, fruit and bread.
They were very welcoming to our dog, Mabel. We couldn’t eat in the restaurant because of her but the lovely receptionist set a table up for us in one of the lounges and she was able to sit with us as there were very few other guests staying. The only negative was that the menu was quite limited.

We have stayed at this beautiful place before and had a lovely room which was cheaper. Non of these rooms were available so we were asked to pay for a junior suit. It was horrible the bed was in a dungeon and the room was dirty too. Very disappointed will not stay again. Shame because we offer to the journey
See above
The location being near to Salamanca and the general ambience. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of safe parking for a classic car.
Getting in the shower by having to step over the end of the bath was awkward.
It was such a great experience to spend the night in a centuries old castle. We had dinner in the restaurant and tried their special gastronomic menu, it was excellent. Breakfast included a wonderful array of food including some hot dishes.
The castle is beautiful! Staying there, I was able to wander about and explore the rooms. It's located in the countryside, so very quiet, but also near some great tourist destinations like Salamanca. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The staff was exceptional! Everyone from the front desk staff, to wait staff, to housekeeping was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I've had in Spanish hotels. The dinner was elegant and tasted very good. All in all I recommend this Posada to everyone. I have stayed in many Paradors and other historic places for hotels, but this one is one of my favorites. The staff and beauty of the location make for a memorable experience.
Dinner was rather expensive. Other than that, there are no complaints. I only wish I had stayed longer.
This castle is amazing!!! Absolutely recommended!
The swimming pool not open on Oct already!
Breakfast very good. Location good but it needs a better location map. Lovely location, excellent staff.
Spanish mealtimes! Dinner can’t be obtained before nine pm! There is however a small tapas style collection in the bar or library.
Excellent breakfast. A bit of a route march to get there if you are of advanced years. The dinner was truly excellent with an equally good wine, locally produced The peace and quiet.
Another arm chair in the bedroom would have been beneficial.
Everything was beyond what we expected- such a great deal for an incredible experience!
We have stayed here before. Always excellent, which is why we return
Nothing
The history / architecture of the place was the attraction. Good bathroom. Dinner was also good.
Our car SATNAV found it impossible to locate. Written instructions with the confirmation would have been useful. The air conditioning in our room was ineffective. Black stone stairs leading to the bathroom on a separate level are not ideal at night, unless you leave lights on.
This was our second visit and we introduced friends to this beautiful castle. The setting is fab and the food was good at breakfast and in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were very welcoming and efficient although ‘unable’ to change rooms for us. would visit again as long as reassurance was given that issues stated below were addressed in advance.
We were very disappointed with our rooms on this visit ( unlike last time when the room was beautiful) our rooms were subterranean next to the swimming pool, and therefore dark, a bit claustrophobic and much smaller than previously for very similar costs. Felt very much that we were given these rooms as we were only staying for one night. The pool was very nice but so many flies and a decaying smell coming from the undergrowth meant that we didn’t stay there for long.
Loved the castle all the antiques and especially great service the lovely young man who checked us in and out sorry I didn’t get his name.
Everything was great and mostly the large rooms.
Amazing old building with all needed comfort; it was great pleasure to live and walk around historic rooms and see external historic space. Excellent food and wine in the restaurant, very nice service.
nothing
Large room, large comfy bed. Access to many different & impressive regions of the castle.
Service charges for eating and drinking anywhere other than in the bar. Slightly damp atmosphere in the bedroom.
The walls of the castle speak history.
It was isolated and far from Salamanca
Everything! From the staff, the food, the atmosphere.... It is awesome
Changing rooms for the pool can be improved
11th century castle eloquently converted to a hotel. Combining all its medieval features with modern furnishings. Dog friendly as well, they had a water bowl & dog bedding in the room for our arrival.
There was nothing that I didn't like. Well I guess I didn't like it when I had to leave.
Everything
The organisation / content of the breakfast good be improved
Amazing unique hotel. Beautifully kept building and gardens. Breakfast was great, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable, rooms spacious, clean and full of nice features.
Heated pool and bar service in the day would have made our stay even better.
The food, rooms and swimming pool are great.
The dogs were sometimes noisy in the morning.
Absolutely glorious stopover. Great for a child's imagination to run wild! Lots of places to explore and just soak in the experience. The room was set up for us, even had a small gift bag for our daughter!
Value for money is a bit off (especially the restaurant) but we did go there to sleep in a castle so can't complain much!
The price ratio: very good
Nothing
Being an original Castle type property. Unspoilt and not commercialised. Beautiful property set in beautiful surrounding terrain.
Staff had very little knowledge of English. History and info on the property in English should be provided on arrival.
Everything
Nothing
It was wonderful to experience sleeping in a castle. The staff were great though spoke very little English. You can wander through many of the different reception rooms and even go up the tower and onto the roof! Rooms are large and nicely presented. Had both a separate shower and a bath so could choose! On site parking Breakfast was excellent and included in the price
Nothing
The whole experience.
Nothing
An excellent stay. Very welcoming. Pet friendly. A really special location.
Beautiful castle with outdoor swimming pool . Food excellent and really enjoyed our stay. Plenty of parking . Room was spacious , clean and full of character
The castle!! It really is an amazing place. Much better still than on the already beautiful photos. It's a maze of beautiful authentically decorated rooms and tiny passages. I often heard myself saying things like "wow", "no way" or "look at this"! The surrounding area is rural and pretty. Gorgeous Salamanca is less than half an hour drive away. The restaurant food was very good. And the staff always showed great enthusiasm!
I actually feel reluctant to write anything here, because the minor flaws were completely blown away by the amazing atmosphere of the castle. But for those who are sensitive to any of the following: wifi reception was not very stable, the many birds on and around the castle create a bit of a mess here and there, the pool is not heated, many rooms are not easy to reach for people who have difficulties to move.
A real castle with 2.4 metre thick walls, inner courtyard and a moat (dry).
Fantastic building. Excellent service and food
Restaurant is in the basement without any windows. Would prefer outdoor/terrace serving in the nice weather.
Peaceful location. Good walks for the dog.
Moat fence was not adequate
The best possible service. The staff was there all the time paying attention if we need something. It is a real palace, everything was just perfect.
Everything was perfect.
Staying in an old castle was a fantastic experience. The staff was very friendly and professional. We had booked a superior room with an extra bed for our son and got upgraded to a deluxe room. The rooms are all different and unique, the beds were very comfortable, wifi worked fine in spite of the thick walls as there was a router in the room. The stylish bathroom had both a bathtub and a shower. There was good heating in both the bedroom and the bathroom. As the castle is in the middle of the fields it was very peaceful. We did not try the restaurant but breakfast was excellent. Everything was perfect. They even gave us a little gift at check-out. The castle is located 25mn drive from Salamanca which makes dinner a bit complicated if you do not want to eat at the castle's restaurant. We tried two of the restaurants in nearby Calzada de Valdunciel, which were simple but fine (Joaquin and Herradura).
Nothing really
My husband and I fulfilled a life-long dream in March of 2019 by visiting parts of Spain we never have before during our previous visits over the past 35 years. Salamanca was the penultimate stop in our 3,500+ Km “great circle” drive through Spain and Portugal. By this time we were weary of negotiating narrow, one-way streets in our rental car, and even worse, staying in places where parking was a major headache. So we decided to stay an easy, half-hour drive north of Salamanca, so that we could enjoy all of the benefits of the town without having to suffer any of its medieval logistical constraints. We are so glad we chose the Castillo de Buén Amor to stay in- it really added a wonderful new dimension to our Salamanca visit. We recommend the Castillo de Buén Amor to all visitors to central Spain- the rolling plains where there are more cattle than people. We were thrilled to stay in an 800+ year old castle, with so many period-correct furnishings, paintings, and features that we felt like we had been transported backwards in time. Our room was elegant and very comfortable, the entire Castle was fascinating, and the restaurant was first-rate. We were particularly appreciative of the easy road access and the problem-free parking right in front of our room. Everybody we met at the Castillo and in its restaurant was friendly and outgoing. It is the perfect place to stay if you are visiting Salamanca. For that matter, if you only have one day to spend in Central Spain, skip Madrid, and head over to the Castillo de Buén Amor: you will be very glad you did!
Lovely castle, not too big allowing us to get acquainted with other people on their travels. Great that they welcomed our dog Darcey providing clean dog bed, water and even treats for her. She was even welcome to join us in one part of the castle for a drink. Fantastic
Amazing castle a must to visit
Nothing
It's hard to believe that the photos don't do this place justice. It's a genuine Moorish castilla in the very peaceful countryside minutes from Salamanca.
Leaving
The environment, the castle, the staff, the tour... Everything.
All perfect
Fabulous small castle with moat and swimming pool. Excellent accommodation all round
Just a tad hard to find from one direction.
Ambience was terrific
Upgrade, food, staff attention.
Atmosphere, castle, friendly staff and great food.
Location, staff, wine
The corners in the room were a little dusty
A very quiet beautiful location. Convenient to Salamanca without having to stay in the city.
The lighting in our room needs improvement Warnings on the low arches so one doesn't bang their head.
A unique experience staying in this lovely castle overnight with our dog
Nothing
Concept of a castle outside Salamanca city
High price for the facilities.
I liked the history and it's quiet location. Nice break from sightseeing although we spent a bit of time wandering around the castle. The pool was cool in the heat of the day and the food and drinks and service especially the breakfast were fanttastic
Nothing whatsoever everything was amazing
This is great place for a treat
My only complaint is very loud screaming bird scarer protecting the vines
The buildings are beautiful. The pool looked good.
We were not offered a complimentary welcome drink. The menu before 21:00 is very limited. We were not offered a cooked breakfast as an extra. We were NOT given the choice of currency payment - which was expensive for us.

A lovely place, that we have stayed at before. We will of course, come back again and again.
Large rooms with terraces, lovely swimming pool, great service from staff and lovely surroundings. The castle, decorations and paintings made for great exploration. We were previously warned about a wedding on site and we were not impacted too much. Had dinner in dungeon restaurant and food was amazing.
Room cleanliness could have been better, a bit of dust gathering on floors, however location in countryside doesn't make it easy so we understood this and wasn't much of an issue, just don't walk barefoot. Not my favourite bed covers either, but that's a personal preference. Restaurant opens at 9pm for dinner and found this very late, it was 11:30 when we had our deserts.
Beautiful castle and location! Very friendly staff.
Spend 3 nights at this truly lovely place and we loved it. Place is authentic with the public and guest rooms still in authentic style with original furniture. Restaurant was good although a bit ...
Minor annoyances where that WiFi was mostly not working and the toilet seat could not stand up and had to hold it up during the visits. But that it easily forgotten when you walk around and see the ...
Very nice area in a castle which you can really experience by visiting many rooms in common area. Swimming pool was great add on. Surrounding area with vineyard, places to sit and walk around.
Bathroom a bit dark
Grounds, pool, breakfast
Shower drain a bit smelly and room floor could have been cleaner, particularly in the bathroom, breakfast too late for young children or if you want to leave early for a day out. Should start at 8am. ...
Staying in an 11th century castle was an interesting cultural and historical experience. Quality of food was good.
Room 10 was extremely moldy, it was impossible to sleep due to the smell of the fungus spores. Breakfast bar is far too small and very crowded in the morning. The underground windowless setting is a...
the best thing was the beautiful location and historic building we were staying in. the bed was v comfortable also and good quality food in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast time.
we would have liked to stay in the castle but due to our pet being with us we were in the outside rooms which was v nice but no outside space.
Good WiFi, nice location and castle has full of historical and interesting rooms... Wouldn't stay again with pets.
Not as dog friendly as expected... couldn't have breakfast or dinner sitting outside with our dog! Ordered room service but choices were dismal. Aircon didn't work on very hot day despite it ...
Exceptionally unique and special! Beautiful country, 10 miles from Plaza Mayor, Salamanca.
What a privilege to be able to stay in this magnificent castle. Our room was large, cool and atmospheric and the public rooms in the hotel were beautiful. In particular, the central courtyard area was...
To be absolutely picky, a vegetarian option on the dinner menu would have been good and the pool area was less impressive than the rest of the hotel. But overall it is a wonderful place to stay.
Amazing and romantic place to stay.
Nothing, but be prepare it is far from the city (20 minutes car drive)
Magnificent location: one really feels like a knight wandering around! The swimming pool is refreshing and the restaurant provides and extra ambiance.
The basic rooms in the "basement" of the building do not have natural light (which is obvious in a fortress I guess), and lack some fresh air. The labyrinth next to the castle is halfway cut...
Wonderful atmosphere. Despite being a castle, it had a welcoming and friendly style. The food was really good. Very fresh. As a vegetarian it can be difficult in Spain but there was a good choice for ...
Nothing. It was magical.
Staff were awesome, the property beautiful and well kept
very good breakfast included, restaurant and service was excellent
Some of the English translations on the restaurant menu are misleading and inaccurate. Perhaps need to be re-translated for clarity.
Just so wonderful place! Me and my family loved it. Nice rooms, super breakfast buffet and the dinner, lovely pool. Peace and quiet
It would have been nice to have also some information about the castle and it's history also in english. The hotelbook was only in spanish
The hotel is every bit as quirky as the descriptions and the staff were all brilliant
Beware your sat nav doesn't take you on the dirt tracks stick to the paved roads or you will be in 4x4 territory
Amazing experience and beautiful location
Stunning place to stay, great breakfast and very welcoming.
Difficult to find, sat nav couldn't find it!!
To stay in a superbly restored medieval castle like this is a real treat. The nearest experience would be at a Parador but this is smaller more intimate and of a very high standard. The evening meal...
Everything else
Downstairs part of our room dusty
Amazing experience to stay in a castle. The pool was very nicely positioned and the whole area was quite scenic.
Restaurant food pricey and limited choices.
The quietness and style.
The restaurant could open slightly earlier in the evening (e.g. 20.00hrs)
The setting of the hotel and pool is stunning in the heart of Spanish countryside but not too far away from Salamanca. We were driving through to Portugal and it was the perfect stopover. The ...
