Staff , from reception through restaurant , cleaners, guides all very helpful and attentive. Could not have been better. Nothing was too much trouble and the manager spoke to us all daily to ensure all was well. The trips out were varied and fascinating. The guides were very knowledgeable and gave us insight into the local areas. The hotel went to great length to give you a bespoke experience, even if you were the only person on a trip. The food was excellent. Healthy and delicious. You could ask for more whenever you wanted. The rooms are spacious and well designed and totally sound proofed, and you have your own private terrace. The whole hotel is beautifully arranged and is an oasis in this dry valley. It’s not cheap but it’s clear that huge efforts have gone in to ensure an excellent experience for guests .
Possibly need to update air conditioning in bedroom.
Unique property with a unique location. Staff members are friendlier more helpful than they communicated, i.e. they never say "yes" to any of your requests, though they did try to accommodate and most of the arrangements turned out good.
The staff is amazing, all very friendly, helpful and attentive. The included tours are really great, with excellent guides and very exclusive, with few people. The facilities of the hotel are very good, with a pleasent atmosphere. It was a great experience and I recommend for sure.
The gastronomy could be better: The breakfast is not bad at all, but is not as great as I would expect and the menu of the restaurant is not very diversified.
Everything was absolutely perfect. The room was very spacious and comfortable, the pools are really good, the restaurant is fine, there are many areas for relaxing and enjoying the stay and it's all decorated with such good taste. But, mostly, I've never seen a better staff in a hotel. Some of the best people I've ever met work at Alto Atacama. Truly. I wish I could mention the name of everyone here, but I'd certainly forget somebody, so it wouldn't be fair. You're the best. The guides were brilliant (gracias, David, Esteban, Michael, Fernandinho, Dayane and Arturo). They were fun, nice, caring and really knowledgeable. More than seeing those amazing out-of-this-world landscapes, each excursion was like a lesson in botany, geology, history, biology, astronomy, local culture and general science. It's really impressive how much information the guides have. If you pay attention to them, it can make your experience in Atacama be even richer. Thanks everyone. I look forward to coming back.
There was nothing I didn't love about this hotel.
Lovely stay at Alto. The hotel is stunning. Very comfortable and brilliantly located right in the heart of the desert. The excursions were great and our guides fantastic. We were amazed at how varied the landscape is and how much there is to see and do. Very friendly staff too. Would hugely recommend. A very memorable stay.
The food in the restaurant is good but the choices don't change. Got a bit boring eating the same food.
The luxurious Alto Atacama is blessed with a most spectacular and private location, tucked away in a valley of serene beauty, in the shadow of the Pukar de Quitor ruins and with the San Pedro River winding its way discreetly alongside. The perfect base for exploring the desert, cultural encounters, or simply absorbing the breathtaking landscape.Guests can choose from a unique range of cultural and active excursions, or perhaps pamper themselves in our magnificent pool and spa area. Our Chef combines classic Mediterranean and Chilean recipes with a dash of native flavor to create an original range of culinary delights. The Atacama Desert is a land of unique diversity. It is an eerie lunar landscape in places, cool, lush river canyons in others. In some parts rain has not touched this parched land for the past three hundred years while summer can bring rainstorms in the surrounding mountains. It can be vast empty stretches of rock, salt, and sand, and an explosion of life at the same time. Alto Atacamas 32 rooms are spacious, comfortable, and conducive to a good nights sleep after an action-packed day. The decoration is rustic yet elegant, with local crafts adding warmth and character. Each room has a private terrace; the perfect spot to absorb the colors and silence of the valley. Our superb outdoor pool area includes six private and individual pools, a whirlpool bath, and a bar. Alto Atacama is a stunning work of architecture. Its seamless incorporation into the valley was achieved thanks to the architects recognition that set against a backdrop of such unique topography, breathtaking natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage, a building must be humble and pay homage to its surroundings. Atacama is blessed with the worlds clearest skies, and Alto Atacamas unique location away from the hustle and bustle and bright lights of the village of San Pedro means there is zero light pollution, providing the most incredible setting for an evenings stargazing. We invite you to come and experience one of the most pristine and fascinating places on Earth.
