10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was in a great location. Very clean and comfortable. Diego and Carlos were very helpful. Highly recommend!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room was very clean. Great shower. Staff member Carlos and other staff were very friendly and helpful. Right in centre of town. Bed was very comfy and large.
Cons: Room was a bit cold but we got heating adjusted and extra heater. Accommodation in general in San Pedro is quiet expensive so this waa quite expensive for what you get elsewhere in Chile.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff - communicative in advance and type of place that provided a bag lunch for us on each day we had to leave before breakfast. Lovely outside areas - both attached to each room as well as the central spot.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This is a more upmarket hotel in a town that is more backpacker orientated. The staff are extremely helpful. The bathroom is brilliant and the rooms have all mod cons except air con but there is a ceiling fan. Plus you get your own private patio area. The design is adobe rustic but it is more substantial than that. Soundproofing was good. Breakfast was delightful with eggs prepared any way you like.
Cons: At around $200 it is a bit pricey but with only 10 rooms you are paying for a more personal service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room, lovely big bathroom, really like the little patio area we had. The staff were very friendly and we were close to everything in San Pedro.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Exellent hotel in San Pedro. Very nice staff and very good service
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Owners and staff were fabulous and went out of their way to help and answer questions. Easy 2 min walk to main street, plaza, restaurant and shops.
Cons: No facility to make tea/coffee and boil water.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were so lovely, helpful and attentive. From before we even arrived they were prompt in answering all questions and helping with anything we asked for. Seemed genuinely like they wanted to help guests when we were staying. Great location for proximity to restaurants etc. We enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Breakfast could be a little more interesting. For example bigger selection of hot food such as omlettes or bacon. For the price paid it would make sense.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed relaxing after our trip through Bolivia on the quiet and comfortable patio. The staff were extremely helpful with arranging our trip for getting to and from the hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: room, bathroom and outdoor area were all better than expectation, breakfast spread was well above expectation. the location is very close to the main street but set-off enough that you dont get woken by late night shenanigans. staff were helpful and had great tips.

Pros: We liked the good location within easy reach of the town centre and the terrace overlooking the mountains. It was helpful having someone on reception throughout the day, who were helpful in answering any queries.
Cons: Something which would be popular with a lot of guests is an electric toaster (having watched others trying to toast bread on the hob).

Pros: Great location in heart of town yet was very quiet. Great staff, small pool to relax.
Cons: Standard rooms a bit small but very comfortable
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful for any kind of need. The room is comfortable and nice. Breakfast with a great choice of fresh and handmade products. All in all, thanks to the attention to any needs of the guests, the feeling of our stay was better than in many 5 stars hotels.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great. Beds are confortable and great location
Cons: It was a bit pricy
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location in San Pedro de Atacama. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds. The hotel is like an oasis in the middle of the desert. The staff is very helpful when it comes to booking airport transfer and excursions and helping out with a very early breakfast when we had a very early excursion. Highly recommend it !
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This hotel reflects local artesanal skills in both construction and decor. The staff are eager to please and the free afternoon teas, wine tasting and occasional local music are nice touches. All speak good English and for us with little or no Spanish this made life easy.
Cons: The curtains let in too much light and the rooms could benefit from black-out curtains for those guests whom are light sensitive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Staff was super friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean.
Cons: We liked it all
7.9 Good
Pros: Nice breakfast. Liked the homemade items. Pleasant patio area.
Cons: Not enough lighting at night between reception and the rooms. Very thin walls between rooms. Getting lost between reception and the room for the first two days!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great localization (walking distance from best restaurants in town), great breakfast, charming decoration, comfortable rooms, a pool and a library. One of the greatest hotel staff I´ve ever known, super friendly, helpful and communicative (specially Magaly, Melissa and Pablo), that makes the vibe of the hotel super relaxed and warm. Every afternoon it´s tea time, with a lot of options of local herbs. Also from 7-9p.m. they serve cheese and wine to the guests, a fantastic initiative. You can chat with people from all over the world about travel experiences and whatever comes to mind, creating something like a hostel experience in a more fancy hotel. We really felt at home at Terrantai, it was super hard to leave. Thanks!

9.6 Excellent
Pros: We liked absolutely everything about the hotel! Room was perfect, setting incredible, staff super friendly, food amazing...
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is fabulous. A stunning oasis in the middle of the desert with a focus on natural environment and sustainability without compromising style. Pool and spa amazing. Excellent food and wine. Bar staff, kitchen and wait staff and guides JP & Carolina especially) exceptional. Outdoor shower great! Loved the reading nook and minimalist room design. Barefoot luxury at its best. Genuinely excellent service and facilities (room, excursions, pool, yoga room, hot tub, gardens, reading nooks, outdoor showers and stunning views) without pretension. Would definitely stay again.
Cons: Very expensive and reception staff a bit cold compared to the warmth everywhere else in hotel (both on email and in final bill payment). It is obviously expensive to maintain such a high level of services in a desert though! It’s possible it was more confusing because we were bed and breakfast rather than all inclusive (definitely looked the way to go for longer stays!). Overall just a few moments of confusion in an otherwise outstanding stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The excursions were great. The facilities were clean and beautifully decorated. The room was spacious and the pool and spa were great. Mauro, the person in charge of the excursions, did his utmost to arrange the excursions we wanted to do, even if these were not on the program of the hotel.
Cons: The food was excellent one evening and mediocre the next. But overall good!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the activities as part of the resort. It was a little confusing as we purchased a bed & breakfast. They didn’t have prices for activities or lunch & dinner (We didn’t really eat breakfast)
Cons: Wish we had a set price list for items that we wanted to included. We loved the spas and we also did yoga outside it was amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful staff, facilities, location, excursions, food and beverages. Great attention to detail.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel itself is beautiful and very well designed. Everything about our stay was amazing - but the highlight was the staff. Everyone was so kind and genuine, they could not do enough to help you. We went on several amazing excursions and wished we had time to do more; the guides were extremely knowledgable and full of passion. I can't wait to return some day.
Cons: A tiny grip, but the steam room could have worked a lot better as door doesn't close properly. If you are having problems with the dry climate though I believe they have humidifiers if you ask at reception.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely place, great staff
Cons: Lack of activities when it rains
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and ambience
Cons: Need to stay at least five days to acclimatise for the wonderful volcano hikes
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Above all else, the management and the staff went out of their way to make it an experience and not just a place to stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel. Not cheap but all inclusive. Staff (hotel, restaurant and guides) always very helpful. Trips organized very well. Normally 9am in the morning until 1pm. And then from 4pm to 7:30pm. Leaving a good time for lunch and resting in the hotel. I liked all the trips and on arrival there is a good planning with recommendations which trips to do. My trips were always in very small groups (max. 3) with several times 2 guides and only me! I am not sure whether this is always guaranteed (I was there in low season), but made it very helpful as everyone has different speed to walk or time to spend for taking photos. Often food (lunch or small picnic is provided) which I found sometimes a bit exaggerated if 2 groups from our hotel went to the same place (with different guides) and then having separately 2 tables with large amount of food. Guides are very helpful, knowledgeable, speaking different languages (I had German, English and Portuguese) and also – I prefer this – taking food together with the guests (I really do not like trips where the guides need to eat on a different place which I experienced in several place in the world). Only weak excursion was star gazing. The guide did not seem overly motivated and seemed more to try to get the excursion done. For example, he used the same eyepiece/ocular for watching deep sky objects (e.g. galaxies and nebulas) and for planets. Lunch and Dinner excellent. Very large variety changing every day with 3 options. When I did not like one of them, they provided me something else which was not on the menu. Breakfast was ok (but good for South American standards). I was in the Atacama mid of August which in my opinion was an excellent time. A bit chilly in the evening and even more in the morning; however, during the daytime excursions the temperature was very good (18 – 20 / 64 – 68 degrees) as the sun was still very strong.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: amazing place with stunning view, and an awesome lovely crew
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Katie, the manager, is a fantastic host with many helpful suggestions. She really cares about the clients.
Cons: Nothing to note
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a wonderful experience. It is a little outside of the town, but not an issue at all if you have a car. There is very little light pollution and the sky at night is amazing. The rooms have large windows with a great view of the volcanoes without any houses / poles etc. cluttering the view. Depending on traffic, it is a 5-10 min drive to the town center. San Pedro is more a village than a town, with just a few paved roads. Be prepared for a lot of dust when driving. Also, it gets very dark - carry a flashlight with you. There are only five cottages in this lodge, and they are made of indigenous material, but are very clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast (included) is quite good and they will even cook your eggs to order! Juan, the owner, is very knowledgeable (he used to be a guide) and helpful.
Cons: Can't think of anything that we did not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff hospitality was excellent, as was the breakfast and variety of tea/coffee offered for guests to help themselves to in the kitchen. The beds were turned down every day.
Cons: Nothing! If I had to pick then the shower could have been hotter.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The distance from the village made the difference. It wasn’t far to walk but being in the countryside made it quiet and super relaxing which we needed. The stars at night and the early morning light were also a highlight.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location with a view of volcanoes to die for. Out of town so great for stargazing. Easy 20 minute walk to the main streets. Fantastic breakfast. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Super kind staff, great breakfast, specially the bread. And most importantly, an amazing view of the mountains
Cons: Only that the bathroom in the dining room was out of service
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was nice with fresh juice, coffee and egg. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the staff was nice and warm. Staring at the stars through the window in our warm bed was the most enjoyable thing during our stay
Cons: Nothing really, if I really have to say something that I didn't like will be the shampoo that was provided.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything was excelent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing and helpful staff. Katia is so kind! Lovely breakfast with an unbeatable view.
Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa - San Pedro de Atacama - Building
6
9.3 Excellent (170 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The luxurious Alto Atacama is blessed with a most spectacular and private location, tucked away in a valley of serene beauty, in the shadow of the Pukar de Quitor ruins and with the San Pedro River winding its way discreetly alongside. The perfect base for exploring the desert, cultural encounters, or simply absorbing the breathtaking landscape.Guests can choose from a unique range of cultural and active excursions, or perhaps pamper themselves in our magnificent pool and spa area. Our Chef combines classic Mediterranean and Chilean recipes with a dash of native flavor to create an original range of culinary delights. The Atacama Desert is a land of unique diversity. It is an eerie lunar landscape in places, cool, lush river canyons in others. In some parts rain has not touched this parched land for the past three hundred years while summer can bring rainstorms in the surrounding mountains. It can be vast empty stretches of rock, salt, and sand, and an explosion of life at the same time. Alto Atacamas 32 rooms are spacious, comfortable, and conducive to a good nights sleep after an action-packed day. The decoration is rustic yet elegant, with local crafts adding warmth and character. Each room has a private terrace; the perfect spot to absorb the colors and silence of the valley. Our superb outdoor pool area includes six private and individual pools, a whirlpool bath, and a bar. Alto Atacama is a stunning work of architecture. Its seamless incorporation into the valley was achieved thanks to the architects recognition that set against a backdrop of such unique topography, breathtaking natural beauty, and rich cultural heritage, a building must be humble and pay homage to its surroundings. Atacama is blessed with the worlds clearest skies, and Alto Atacamas unique location away from the hustle and bustle and bright lights of the village of San Pedro means there is zero light pollution, providing the most incredible setting for an evenings stargazing. We invite you to come and experience one of the most pristine and fascinating places on Earth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything about the Lodge: friendly, helpful staff, great hospitality, beautiful surroundings and my room/suite was excellent. Great food choice and a wide variety of excursions on offer. All my needs and wants were catered for, and I felt looked after as soon as I had left the airport's arrivals halls to the end of my stay and return to the airport for my departure flight. It was an ultimate and amazing trip and destination for me - a most memorable and enjoyable one.
Cons: That my stay was so brief ( three nights) meant that I was not able to enjoy the facilities or my room/suite to its maximum, because I was taking advantage of as many day excursions as possible. The lighting in the room was a bit low for my liking, but their reason for this was to let your eyes relax from the desert's harsh sunlight, which made a lot of sense and consideration.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is amazing, all very friendly, helpful and attentive. The included tours are really great, with excellent guides and very exclusive, with few people. The facilities of the hotel are very good, with a pleasent atmosphere. It was a great experience and I recommend for sure.
Cons: The gastronomy could be better: The breakfast is not bad at all, but is not as great as I would expect and the menu of the restaurant is not very diversified.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was absolutely perfect. The room was very spacious and comfortable, the pools are really good, the restaurant is fine, there are many areas for relaxing and enjoying the stay and it's all decorated with such good taste. But, mostly, I've never seen a better staff in a hotel. Some of the best people I've ever met work at Alto Atacama. Truly. I wish I could mention the name of everyone here, but I'd certainly forget somebody, so it wouldn't be fair. You're the best. The guides were brilliant (gracias, David, Esteban, Michael, Fernandinho, Dayane and Arturo). They were fun, nice, caring and really knowledgeable. More than seeing those amazing out-of-this-world landscapes, each excursion was like a lesson in botany, geology, history, biology, astronomy, local culture and general science. It's really impressive how much information the guides have. If you pay attention to them, it can make your experience in Atacama be even richer. Thanks everyone. I look forward to coming back.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't love about this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely stay at Alto. The hotel is stunning. Very comfortable and brilliantly located right in the heart of the desert. The excursions were great and our guides fantastic. We were amazed at how varied the landscape is and how much there is to see and do. Very friendly staff too. Would hugely recommend. A very memorable stay.
Cons: The food in the restaurant is good but the choices don't change. Got a bit boring eating the same food.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Is the typical adobe construction, finished with a nice touch and details The staff were very friendly and helpful
Cons: For us it was a bit cold during the night (winter) but it was ok with a gas heater A swimming pool will make this a paradise resort
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This accomodation was fantastic. Will certainly return. Thank you for such a great stay. Over friendly staff, super comfortable beds with a delicious breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful comfortable rustic place. Great staff who made us feel at home.
7.1 Good
Pros: Pros: very friendly, helpful staff; cool adobe buildings, good breakfast and real coffee. Large water dispenser to fill water bottles. Short walk to town and very quiet at night.
Cons: We were there in June (winter). No hot water for 2 out of 3 days and very cold with no heater in room, only a wood stove to build a fire, but not worth it getting back to our room late. Space heaters and hot water would have been wonderful. Beds were cozy and warm.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a quiet setting just outside town. It is in ideal location: easy walking distance to San Pedro, but far away from town to avoid much of the city traffic when driving. A rental car company is just down the street. The staff is helpful and the breakfast is very good. If you are planning on touring the region on your own, this is an excellent place to stay.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was nothing spécial. ...the Room was very dark....Wifi didn't work in the room. ...du ring my evening shower the light went off. ...No tv...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast and accommodations. Strategic location for arrivals and departures from San Pedro de Atacama for tours and other cities.
Cons: The issue of water supply in the region is an important factor. Depending on the time of day, the high demand for hot water can lead to a decrease in water pressure, which makes it impossible to heat the water. They say that in the high season this issue is more delicate. Always remember that you are in the middle of a desert.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved the interior, staff is amazing, they help you with tours. I had the pleasure to rent their car, which made my stay so complete! I would recommend it to anyone. With kids it's even more fun, llamas outside.. I lost my sunglasses and the reception wrote me straight away when they found them
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at this hotel was really great: clean rooms, very very very welcoming staff, they have explained us everything, gave us hints on where to go and what to eat. On top the structure has Llamas , Lulan (the Male Llama) was so cute. Position perfect, close to the town center.
Cons: Only if have to be very critical the only thing missing was the internet connection in the room. It was available from the common areas.
6.7 Good
Pros: Very friendly and very cute the place
Cons: The bathroom and the bathtub with the tend is very uncomfortable and it is not hygienic. The windows are semi open and all the cold get inside

For the days when you have to leave early for a tour, the hostel staff give a takeaway breakfast. Highly recommended, will stay here again.
Cons: everything was alright.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff, great location, very clean and they even packed us a complimentary snack for an early check out.
Cons: The room was a little small to fit suitcases for 2 people.

8.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean, comfortable and the bunks had lights and power sockets. I only got the breakfast one morning and the pancakes were great.
Cons: There was a misunderstanding over the trips I wanted to go on so I ended up missing the Moon Valley trip which I really wanted to do as the staff had booked me onto Cejar Lagoon instead. Make sure you check with staff in good time which trips they have booked you onto to avoid mistakes!

Pros: We were so happy with our stay at hostal Katari. From start to finish the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were patient with our limited Spanish! We added an extra night to our booking during our stay and this was straightforward and easy. On all 3 mornings we had early starts and they left snack packs in reception for us as we would miss breakfast. The room was massive and although it was below freezing at night the bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding was super warm. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in San Pedro.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: First of all, shower was weak and lukewarm at best - we understand that we are in a desert, but our fellow travellers who stayed in other hostels has much better showers than we did. We were told the showers are hotter and stronger during midday but it is not true since we did shower at around 1pm. Worse still, the owner is dishonest. First of all, they tried to charge us the amount PLUS tax, when the law clearly states that tourists who have the immigration slip do not have to pay tax. At the time, we dismissed it as an honest mistake, but the worse is still to come. The triple room we paid for was supposed to be 30m square on our booking.com, but our room was essentially a double room with three rooms crammed in. When we confronted the owner about it, the owner first insisted that our room was a triple room. After we brought out our booking.com receipt which clearly stated that the room is supposed to be 30m square, she changed tact and start insisting that our room is indeed 30m square, which, as you can see in the photos we uploaded, is just blatantly untrue. Also, they use 12-inch tiles to line the floor, and since there are 12x12 tiles in the living room (yes, we counted, since we are angry), that totals to less than 144 square feet, which is only 13 square metres!!! The owner is clearly dishonest and evasive in her attitude, and when we asked for the daughter who could speak fluent English so we could discuss the situation with her, the owner insisted that the daughter is showering, then busy and then just 'she wont be coming back'. This is unacceptable. We do not mind staying in a smaller place as such, we would have been perfectly happy with an apology for a genuine mistake. But the owner blatantly lying about the size of the room to rip us off is dishonest and despicable. STAY AWAY.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything’s perfect. The room is clean, comfortable, and warm ( even without heat). The staff is very helpful and very kind ( even if i don’t speak spanish ). They can provide you tours which are also great. Don’t hesitate !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The family that runs the place is extremely friendly. They answered all of our questions and helped us book tours. Very nice place a little way outside the main tourist area. But also far enough away to be quiet and peaceful at night. Easy 5 minute walk to main area.
7.5 Good
Pros: View from the location and it was clean!
Cons: Pickup from the airport went wrong. Also the tax is not included in the price. In the end you pay more. We asked if they could help with tours, they only asked when we left for our tour if we already found a tour.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: You could see the sunrise behind mount licancabur if you stand in front of your room! Amazing! Warm and clean rooms.
7.5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast
Cons: No hot water
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, great shower, amazing staff

Explora Atacama - San Pedro de Atacama - Bedroom
11
9.1 Excellent (225 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Situated in San Pedro de Atacama, this luxury property is within a 15-minute walk of Plaza de San Pedro de Atacama, San Pedro Church, and Meteorite Museum. R.P. Gustavo Le Paige Archaeological Museum and Pukara de Quitor Archaeological Site are also within 3 mi (5 km).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great rooms, awesome staff (cleaning, guides, restaurant, bar). They have many expedition, all types.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, beautiful and elegant hotel, where you can feel the beauty of the desert. The activities organised by the hotel are outstanding and they take great care to details, very friendly and helpful people in general, Max is a particularly caring manager and he is always paying attention to your requests and wellbeing. Food is good
Cons: The head of excursions, Consuelo, is a clear downside to this place, she is always patronising clients and is quite unfriendly and arrogant. The fact that they accepted a large group of noisy people that where invading the common areas talking on free hands phone and dressing swimming suits at dining in complete freedom, changed completely the ambiance of the place. With such prices the hotel should prevent this
8.8 Excellent
Pros: All is good, service and guides even great... but for the level of expense the personalisation of the experience isn't quite there. Despite the efforts to accomodate everyone's needs they still try to maximise groups and so you don't always get the excursion you'd like the day you want it. I'll definitely go back to Atacama, just not sure if to Explora, there are other options which are equally high level and offer a more personal experience.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: From the moment we arrived at Calama airport all our needs were met for the next 5 days.To reach the best sites to see in the area takes lots of planning and time and this was arranged each day with consultations with guides. All staff went out of their way to help and clearly loved their jobs and loved Chile!I had an upset stomach one morning maybe caused by the altitude and staff made an infusion for me which did help. The meals were all excellent and wine choices good.
Cons: Beer choices very limited- IPA or Lager only( minor criticism). We knew that wi fi would not be available in our rooms but it was still a little annoying to only have it in common area. When family are on the other side of the world they are usually only contactable at odd hours in the night.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, very attentive staff. Nothing was too much for them. The guides were very well trained, helpful and friendly and were well prepared for our many questions on flora, fauna, geology and many other subjects. The food was much better than we had expected and the restaurant staff very good.
Cons: the room was very comfortable but the bathroom was a bit dated. It could be modernised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Their amazing service. We asked and they delivered.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hostel. The guys that work here are so nice and helpful and book all the different tours for you if you want. The beds are comfy and you can get loads of additional blankets, which is great as there's no heating like in all of the hostels here. They also prepare a lovely breakfast/lunch package for you if you are missing the breakfast due to an early morning tour. I really loved my stay in Mamatierra!! I'd definitely go back!!
Cons: Really nice place. Loved it! Nothing negative to say, apart from the missing heating, but that seems to be a general thing in Chile, so nothing you can do..
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is very well located and clean, the staff is helpful ! Very good place to stay for travelers. Breakfast is amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly staff advised that someone found my bank card and was helpful in providing me the info to contact the lady who found it Amazing breakfast with lots included smoothies, cereal, coffee, tea etc Packup lunch if you need to leave early for tours
Cons: It was a bit cold as they don't have enough power for heating but they provided lots of blankets to compensate
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was excellent, everything we needed, such as fruits, hot coffee and milk, cheese, etc. They also provide a complete snack for the visitors who need to leave the hostal before the breakfast time. The location was perfect, just 10 minute walk from the city centre and next to a grocery store. The staff was really friendly, always ready to assist us.
Cons: I just missed a heating system in the bedroom, the nights in Atacama in Winter are really cold.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean place, Coffee and tea available all day, nice staff.
Cons: It is So cold at night, they give you warm blanket though. I think this is just whole Atacama „ cold style”;)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful, and the hostal was only a 10-minute walk to the main street, with a cheap restaurant next door and a general store on the other side. Free water, tea, coffee etc in the kitchen, and they packed us a takeaway breakfast when we left for early-morning tours and departure for Uyuni. We booked three excursions with hostal discounts. My single room was very small but well organised - the multi-level clothes rack at the foot of the bed allowed me to spread and hang most of my clothes. There's no heating but plenty of warm bedding. The courtyard has a hammock, tables and chairs, and gets a lot of afternoon sun.
Cons: I had two freezing-cold showers and only found out on my last day that the hot tap is on the left (opposite to Europe and what I had in Santiago) and you had to let it run quite a while before the water gets hot. Until then the right position was actually slightly warmer than the left, hence my confusion. This could probably be explained better.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was delicious and the room was really cozy!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: -Super helpful staff who speak English really fluently, and reply WhatsApp very quickly. -While we joined the tour to Uyuni for 4 days, it’s able for us to leave our big luggage there. -The water for hot showier is hot enough, and they provide extra blankets in the room for the night (it could be only 0-5 degree during the night) which is warm enough for the winter season. -They have full-equipped kitchen and there’s a mini market just next to the hostel(3 sec by walking) where you can find eggs, bread, butter, milk, some snack, laundry detergent and more. -walking to the main street only took us around 7-9 mins, and they also helped us to call mini van taking us to the airport.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely comfy hostel with friendly staff and a great breakfast. Fresh eggs and pancakes and a nice outdoor seating area to relax in.
Cons: Location was slightly out of the centre
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was pretty good bruh. The lady working at the kitchen offered to prepare me either eggs or pancakes, which definitely caught me off guard. A pleasant surprise I must say. The food selection was pretty decent, the shower rooms were small and thus got pretty warm once you turned on the shower (I went during winter, so it could really damn cold during the night). The beds were comfortable and the sheets warmed you up pretty fast as well. The staff was really nice and would chat with you anytime and answer all my questions.
Cons: The doors would make a lot of noise when opened during the night, which I fear can wake up the other guests in the room. The additional charges when paying with credit card were pretty high as well.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Little house is very cozy and clean, with kitchen and a backyard, no AC but a good electric fan . Airport transportation is 12000peso each person , 1 hr.
Cons: During the day it’s too hot to stay in the house anyway it’s desert, expected. There is 19% tax add up but which is waived for foreigners in other cities hotels , so don’t know if it’s an unnecessary.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful and quiet place, very close to downtown. There is an amazing bakery coffey place right in front of the hostel. The owner is very friendly! There is a big garden with hammocks and couches to chill.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: + location: close to main square, bus terminal, great restaurants, but off from the main streets (less noise) + ambiance: great atmosphere, cool garden to hang with hammocks, perfect place to relax, nice design + comfort: rooms, beds were comfortable, good in size. + french bakery selling fresh baguettes right outside the hostel! + kind staff members + it's pricey, but everything is in the city. this was one of the cheapest places we could book and although if you compare to outside of San Pedro, the prices are very high for such a hostel, compared to the rest of San Pedro, we actually thought it was good value for money. Everything is relative, after all.
Cons: - sometimes staff are hard to find (there's no receptionist) - wifi never connected for us - rooms get very hot, but that seems to be a problem everywhere in town.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: + beautiful garden like an oasis! + great experience to sleep in house built out of earth + amazing bakery "Franchuteria" just in front of the hostel where we always enjoyed a super breakfast + super friendly owner
Cons: - sometimes the staff spoke loud on the phone very early in the mornings
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Really nice place, all the small touches gives it a magical feeling. The host, the garden and the bakery are all amazing. In case internet is slow, you can try the bakery Wifi as alternative.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Quietness; hot shower; good bed; cute room and decoration; friendly staffs; free coffee and tea; clean
Cons: No wifi in a room; wifi only at common space, which is outside and cold at night; No staff at morning and night (be careful when you check in and out)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Small but clean rooms and bathrooms
7.9 Good
Pros: small room but clean with nice garden. you can take a rest and have something so eat at the little garden. it's really great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So relaxing in this Adobe style hostel surrounded by tree. Comfortable, clean beds. Being close to the excellent cafe/bakery a bonus.
Cons: I think the description of distance from the bus terminal (200m I think) was inaccurate. More like 500m
5.8 Okay
Pros: Comfy bed. Wonderful bakery in front of hostal. Great croissants for breakfast.
Cons: Toilets blocked twice, flooding floor area. Not able to use bathroom for hours. There should be a very large sign in the bathroom to let ignorant tourists know not to put paper down the toilets. Very unpleasant the first time and unacceptable the second.

Pros: Excellent staff, nice and very helpful. I was travelling with my 10-month old baby and they did everything to accommodate us (crib in the room, high chair, etc).
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel with spacious grounds to relax in. Room was very comfortable and restaurant was lovely. Best of all were the staff - they were amazing when I had a medical emergency, helping me to access medical care and working with my travel insurers to help me be medically evacuated. All were very caring and kind, and went above and beyond - I was so appreciative of all their help and kindness.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very nice, very tipical and the staff is polite and helpfull! It is only 2 minutes walking to the main street :) definitely a very good choice!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location, a safe walk 5 min from the main street. Professional and friendly staff at reception who let me check in early when my room was ready and answered all my questions. Restaurant serves delicious food!
Cons: Construction going on during the day.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, friendly staff and secure parking. Plus an excellent breakfast to start the day.
Cons: Rooms could do with air conditioning.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very easy walk into the main street. Rooms were very comfortable & staff very helpful.
Cons: One of the reasons we booked this property was because the add said that the hotel had a tourist desk. We felt this would be very helpful for our stay, however there isn't a desk & the staff were unable to book anything for us. The restaurant was very good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was extraordinary. Location was excellent - walking distance from centre of the town, but distant enough to avoid noise and crowds; staff was extremely kind and unimposing; the restaurant is the best in town: gourmet food, at excellent prices. Fresh, creative, delicious! Would recommend - or keep as a personal secret to be able to return!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff was fabulous. Front desk was eager to help with anything and even lent me one of their own hats when I forgot to bring mine.
7.5 Good
Pros: Breakfast. Bed. Livingroom. Restaurant. Free water all day. Free coffee all day. Free tea all day.
Cons: Only heat machine at the room, can’t control the temperature as we want. No TV at room. No TV at living room or restaurant.

Pros: The staff, the cleanliness, location and breakfast.
Cons: It is pricey.

Pros: Confortable bed, good and hot shower and the breakfast was nice also.
Cons: A bit far from caracoles, 12 minutes walking, but its good sometimes cause the place is more quiet to sleep
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommend! The staff was friendly and accommodating, the breakfast delicious, the rooms and facilities were very clean and we appreciated the assistance with booking tours prior to our arrival since we were short on time. Great WiFi, hot showers, hammocks, what more could you want?

Pros: The staff was great, they prepare takeover breakfast for you in case you have an early excursion.
Cons: Room was a bit cold with no heating, but had plenty of blankets.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hostel, comfortable, very friendly and helpful staff!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. The employees were awesome. They helped us get to the good tours.
Cons: The guests leaving all hours of the night were very loud. The long hallway created echoes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfi room. Good breakfast . Great kitchen facilities. Super friendly staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved this hostal! It is a little further away from town, only a 15 minute walk, but after being hassled by tour companies all the time, you really appreciate a quieter part of town. The kitchen was so well stocked (blender, wine opener, toaster, oven!) and we were able to make all of our picnic lunches and dinner. The room was clean, but we had a maid clean our room daily, which I've never had before in a hostel. Everything was so well maintained and the staff were incredibly resourceful and helpful - calling the tourism office to confirm times, locations, etc.
Cons: nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The airline left our bags behind at the last airport, Robert and Hugo went well out of their way to help us get the bags. We had scheduled a visit to El Tatio the next morning, -15C temps, and our clothes were in the missing bags. Can't speak more highly of the staff. Helpful, friendly and courteous.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Just 10 min walk from main street. Helped us with all the info and more. Super clean. Good kitchen facilities and best breakfast. Really recommend this place.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly and helpful, coffee and tea 24/7.
7.1 Good
Pros: Nice large rooms, friendly staff and well organized daily trips
Cons: - wifi connection very bad - too expensive - swimmingpool has nothing to do with the pictures on the Internet
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast was average, but one has to remember that Atacama is a desert city. The hotel is nicely located and rooms are spacious and quiet. Ask for extra heating if you feel cold at night and you will get it.
5.4 Okay
Pros: The rooms were very nice including a large shower and bathroom area
Cons: The pool area facilities were not at all as expected from the pictures on the website. The pool is very small with cracks in the bottom and was often full of bugs. We found setting up the excursions was also difficult and please note that they really only offer the private tours as they’ll tell you there aren’t enough people interested to have a group tour.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff how polite they were
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, not super central but close enough to the Main Street. Staff very friendly and nice, giving good suggestions and willing to help always. Rooms clean
Cons: We went in full winter (end of July) and the bedroom was quite cold during the day with the heaters off (even if we went out for excursions every day so we did not really feel it, it would have been nice to have a warmer room).
6.3 Good
Pros: Location is good.
Cons: Servicie was poor for a Hotel that aspire for this category. Breakfast was particularly bad. Grounds poorly kept. Music clearly chosen by the staff and completely inadequate for the ambiance of the Hotel. To sum up: full of good intentions but few deeds....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly, welcoming and helpful. They brought me a cake and candles at breakfast on my birthday! Facilities were good, I had a lovely massage. The tour organiser, Cristobal, was excellent in sorting out our trips. We liked having a tea and coffee station available all the time. Very close to the Main Street. It had a very nice feel about it.
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very good property design and construction, good location, professional and very friendly staff, nice facilities and good room furniture and amnesties.
Cons: We like everything
9.6 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, stone throw to town walking street. Owner speaks English
Cons: Pool was small
6.7 Good
Pros: Location and quiet
Cons: Had car broken into in gated parking lot The security box in room was not fastened down to anything so put some extra cash in trunk of locked car
4.6 Okay
Pros: - great location for easy access to the town centre. - Quiet internal courtyard was a pleasant place to spend the day resting if you didn’t want to do any excursions. - The fruit salad at breakfast as freshly prepared to order rather than made in bulk.
Cons: - room was far too small for anything more than an overnight stay - The furniture was not reasonable enough for unpacking any of our bags. A tall but narrow cupboard unit with two small drawers was all your got. Think of university dorm furniture, but even smaller. - The room safe was a joke. It wasn’t bolted to any secure structure. Anyone could pick up this 1kg box and carry it away without any problem. - The wall fan was broken. - The replacement fan was was far too loud (even in the lowest setting) to be used while sleeping. It was sleep hot or stay awake cool. - The shower fixtures in the bathroom were falling apart. I couldn’t get the shower head to stay in place and had to hold it up by hand. - The breakfast cooked options were very greasy. Our scrambled eggs one day had way too much butter and then next day our fried eggs had too much oil. It was the first time in my life that I had to resort to using multiple napkins to try and absorb all the oil off the egg and plate before eating it. - There was nice bread on the second day, but that wasn’t present on the first day, so inconsistent offering. - Hotel ran out of water on our last day. Luckily we had already showered before this happened. This is a widespread issue in the area. - The hotel doesn’t deal with guest problems effectively. I reported the broken wall fan in the morning and it was still broken when we returned at night, despite me checking with the receptions first and getting a confirmation from them that the problem was resolved. - Despite the helpfulness in organising the tours for us, the hotel did put pressure on us when we wanted to cancel our last tour. We gave them our excuse but they were very hard selling us alternatives even though we told them we didn’t want to re-book anything. It’s an obvious case of putting a profit ahead of good customer service. We felt pressured and this made us uncomfortable. - The pool is more of a large deep paddling pool.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: We where evacuated on our fist night
Cons: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: San Pedro is a real oasis in the desert. The folks at Pat'ta Hoiri are wonderful.
Cons: That I couldn't feed the house dog, because he is getting un pequeno gordo.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful. They provided us with towels and packed breakfast for early excursions.
Cons: No hair dryer in room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners and staff (including, of course, Caco the chihuahua) made this one of the most memorable stays so far in my long traverse through South America. The hotel's design and common areas were wonderful and the agencies the hotel works with for tours were top-notch, so I had a magical experience I will never forget in San Pedro.
Cons: Room 8 left a little to be desired for a couple of reasons. First, there weren't any windows except for the bathroom, and the lights weren't very potent. Second, there was no place to hang towels, clothes, etc. And lastly, the hot water was highly unpredictable. Overall, these things didn't ruin my experience at all but, looking back, for the price of the room, perhaps a little better maintenance of Room 8 would make it a better value.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The location was good because its a little away from the center and it's easy to get out of town. The hotel is quite in the evening, still a couple of restaurants within 3 minutes walk.
Cons: I had to wait every time for someone to open the door for me. Same to open the garage door. The lady at the reception showed her discontent when I mentioned it. The breakfast offering was very poor. The price is quite high for the quality of the facilities and the service. Requested 2 hours late check out and was denied even if the hotel was nearly empty. Will not go back there.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff are delightful and so helpful. Very good location. Rooms are big and a very comfortable bed. I was in San Pedro de Atacama for 7 nights and had a wonderful stay. The hotel's recommendations for tours were excellent.

8.2 Excellent (511 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama has 60 superior rooms, a full service spa, Events Center, Tours & Restaurant. We offer various housing programs according to each need.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location and design of the room.
Cons: Apparently clean, but there is a lot of dust everywhere: my allergy incresed a lot sleeping in there. Staff is quite cold and some of them are rude with (super nice) wild dogs that live around. I did not like that. Price is high compared to what they offer. Average quality of breakfast and food.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything
7.9 Good
Pros: Bedrooms were great - lived up to the images with the interior design well thought through
Cons: The restaurant was a real let down - the quality of the food was poor and didn’t match up to what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. We were served raw chicken one night and following night shrivelled shrimps and a fillet steak you had to use a saw - the menu reads well but what they present is a real let down - the restaurants in town are far better so don’t dine at the hotel
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was very good. The staff very helpful.
Cons: Cannot think of any.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The restaurant is nice and I guess it’s among the few restaurants with exquisite cuisine and table setup you can find in this remote area. The room has a outdoor shower and a indoor shower as well. And you can see the amazing Milky Way in their spacious back yard at night
Cons: The girl in reception is not very trained and a bit cold. The path from lobby to rooms is a dirt road in open air and you can’t pull your baggages on it, so you must call them for a golf cart when you check in and check out to carry your baggages.
7.1 Good
Cons: the water is not too much hot in winter
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff & location
Cons: It’s a peaceful place and beautiful design
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Size of the room, attentiveness of the staff, great breakfast, shuttle to and from the center of town
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean Staff very helpful
Cons: WiFi could be offered in every parts of the hotel
7.1 Good
Pros: The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are spa-like. The shuttle to and from town. The overall decor is beautiful. Breakfast was very good. Air conditioning.
Cons: This is a $300/night PLUS resort, but the service does not reflect that. This “resort” seemingly seeks to nickel and dime its customers. The staff barely speaks English, was slow and less than helpful. There is no WIFI in the rooms. They refused to give us coffee for our room beyond the first day. They charged my husband $15 USD (!!) to open a $4 bottle of wine we purchased in town, even after we purchased numerous drinks from the hotel bar. I have traveled the world and literally never experienced such extortion. Furthermore, the excursions are such a hustle in Atacama, the resort staff member in charge of bookings intentionally lied to us about when Valle de la Luna was open to solo-tourists, wasting our precious time when we showed up the park to discover she had led us astray. Do yourself a favor and stay in town at Hotel Kimal for less money and better service.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: We left for a tour super early in the morning and they brought us a picnic breakfast the night before.
Cons: WiFi was only in reception
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - clean - cosy backyard
Cons: - breakfast was served too late (if you booked an early morning excursion you won"t manage to have a breakfast) - water not hot enough (shower)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Really comfy bed, the shower was nice and hot and we had a great night's sleep. It was a good place to relax after an 8 hour drive.
Cons: I don't know if the customer service was good or not - one of the ladies was really shy but the others were not very personable. When we arrived, they kind of hid in reception.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was really great! Fresh fruits with yogurt had lighted up my day! The host was really nice eventhough she does not speak english. The hot water was strong. Location was good which only requires 10mintes walk to the city centre for tours, restaurant, money exchange, etc.
6.7 Good
Pros: It's nice that the hostel has all private rooms for a fair price. Plus it has a fair equipped kitchen to cook.
Cons: Things were very basic. If you like a chilean breakfast you're good here. It's just white bread, cheese/ham/jam and instant coffee or tea. Personally I think it could be a more international breakfast. The things that were a bit annoying were the doors from the room and bathroom that weren't functioning properly. Had to put all my weight to open and close it, which I think is something that could be easily fixed. All in all, the hostel does all the basics for you but nothing more.
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: The laundry lost a pair of socks - and did not apologize at all
7.1 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy
Cons: No hot water
6.3 Good
Pros: Bathroom
Cons: No heating in the room in the winter season, staff speaking only Spanish, breakfast must be improved
7.5 Good
Pros: Very clean, everything new and organized. They gave a small breakfast when we had to leave very early.
Cons: WiFi just doesn't work in the bedrooms. The breakfast is a bit late( 8 am) considering the time most of the tours leave
6.7 Good
Pros: Great breakfast
Cons: Cold showers
