The hotel is a short walk to legoland. The pool there is really nice.my son and I had a great time
Location Room quality, cleanliness, breakfast
I liked how central the location was to food places and things to do. Did not like how poorly lit the hotel was, narrow TV channels provided, TV was small, only offered two hot breakfast items. Overall I would say this place is one step up from a Motel 6.
Great location to restaurants and outlet mall! Very pleased with the shuttle service to and from Legoland. Good hotel for familiesand breakfast was pleasant.
The staff was all very helpful, and kind. The breakfast was satisfying and it was nice that they had a separate to eat in and cartoons on for the kids. The pool was warm enough to be very inviting and the hot tub was a good size, so it never felt cramped. We were amazed by how easy to find it was, and it was near shopping, grocery store, a Starbucks, gas station , In n Out Burger, and LEGOLAND!!!!! The shuttle to and from LEGOLAND made us very thankful for picking this hotel! We would love to stay there again and see more of beautiful Carlsbad! The mini fridge in our room was loud, but I think they all are. The ice machine closest to us wasn't working, but we never mentioned it to the staff. We found another one not far from our room.
I liked that I only stayed one night of my 4 night reservation and then moved to a real resort. I didn't like that there was not a shower curtain. I didn't like that at check in, the staff appearance was substandard. I didn't like that Miranda could have informed me that the wifi was not working at check in . Especially since I specifically asked for wifi login information. I had to call and ask for help logging in. That's when Miranda told me the wifi wasn't working. I didn't like that I may as well have been in the room with the guests above our room. We could hear everything. I didn't like that there were no towels at the pool. The cable TV service was virtually unwatchable. I didn't like that they refer to this place as a resort. I didn't like that this property even charges a resort fee! Ridiculous.
Location is blocks from Legoland and across the street from the outlets Breakfast was pretty good Staff was friendly Parking was abundant and close to the room Room fixtures and decor were older Beds were moderately comfortable Had to wait more than 30 min for a "more blankets" request
Everything was as stated in advertisement. Will return again. Selecting channels as referred in guide difficult.
Shuttle and friendly desk help. LOUD freeway. Initially difficult to find the address (misleading street address).
Spacious rooms, nice gardens and pool The internet signal very weak and slow. For business traveler (as well for all travelers) its essential nowadays! Only in the reception the WIFI was more or less OK. Needs improvment!
I found a died roch in my room!
The staff was very helpful and friendly It's a dated facility and will be time for a face lift soon
very nice pool with kids pool. nice amenities. great location. hotel needs updating. very squeaky floors with old carpet.
Proximity to Legoland. Child friendly atmosphere. Pool was great for kids. Housekeeping arriving after 5 pm.
This is a BEAUTIFUL RESORT, the location is EXCELLENT and the view is AMAZING but... We were walking around in the room barefoot and after 15 min we noticed the bottom of our feet were BLACK. The carpet in our room was disgustingly dirty!!! Then there was not hot water for our entire stay. I understand hot water was a mechanical issue but dirty carpet in the rooms in a lack of cleanliness.
Location to Legoland The room wasn't cleaned until the last day of our stay. There was construction going on. And, our room was dirty from the previous tenants. Not sure if the lack of attention was because we used Kayak, or if the Hotel is just that bad. I was surprised.
Very close to Legoland, 3 min walking distance, the swiming pool area is very nice... and the hotel staff is very kind
I loved the location. Walking distance from legoland, short drive to a variety of restaurants, and the Carlsbad outlet mall. Great family pool with splash pad and a onsite park. Rooms had a microwave and mini-fridge. It was kind of pricey.
Close to Legoland. Karl Strauss on site. Pool options. Friendly staff. Still under construction in the "hotel" area. Lots of areas closed off with yellow tape, plastic covering on floors, one kids water park fountain toy was out of service.
Very kid-friendly and the proximity to Legoland was nice. The staff were generally pretty helpful. The gym had a good selection of equipment. For the price, the room that we had was sub-par. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and the shower was pretty run-down. Although some of the gym equipment had televisions built in, there was limited volume despite the supplying of headphones. Couldn't really hear anything while running on the treadmill.
Room was spacious and clean, shower was great, location was great. I was woken up by housekeeping in the morning on the day I checked out- I would have liked to sleep in! And I don't like the hidden "resort fee".
Privacy and cleanliness Concierge could not find our reservations a few days before arrival (we were staying nearby and just stopped by to confirm location). Evidently not under our name and she kept telling us this hotel was for residents. I later called the hotel with conf #
The grounds the facility were on were beautiful. The room was very nice and in great condition. The location is a little remote.
Everything perfect down to the smallest little detail (like little letter-sponges with our sons name)
I loved the room and the fact that it was right by the lake. It had a great view. The only thing I didn't like was that hardly and water came out from the shower or the sink but besides that everything else was great!
Very quiet and nice. Great facilities. No complaints. Highly recommeded
great value for the price. We had a great time !
Super helpful and friendly staff, nice facilities, pools were awesome for relaxing during the day. The check-in time of four and check-out time of eleven is a little tight, but we requested a later check out (noon) and that made it closer to what we are used to at other hotels. They offered to let us use the pool after checking out so that was really nice of them.
The Lakehouse has a lot of potential and gets a lot of things right, but it lets the little details get in the way of really hitting the mark. Pros: - Comfortable beds - Full showers - Beautiful pools - Friendly staff - Free Wi-Fi - Free parking - Mini fridge - Activities for kids Cons: - Noise - Bugs - Outside light - No safe in room - No plugs at computer desk - Wi-Fi drops and is unreliable Most rooms are motel-style and open directly to the outside, which can be noisy and makes it much easier for bugs to end up in the room (especially with the rooms being so close to the lake). We had mosquitos and silverfish in our room two or three days in a row.
We LOVED our one-night stay at the Lakehouse! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left - everything was perfect. We booked it last minute as a fun little getaway during the holidays. We got a pretty good deal since we stayed the night before New Year's Eve (12/30). The hotel texted us to let us know our room was ready and we were able to check in around 1 PM. We had a ground floor pool view room. Every room has a balcony with bright yellow adirondack chairs and it was really nice sitting outside our room, with a cup of coffee and my book. They had quiet reggae music playing at the pool and I really enjoyed it! The room was IMMACULATE. Everything felt new and crisp and clean. I loved the color scheme and layout too. The room was really spacious and just overall lovely. It was just 2 of us for one night but I did notice that there were a TON of outlets throughout the room. Nice touch in this day and age when we all have so many electronics to charge :) The pools were both heated and almost warm enough for me to swim in (On December 30, mind you). We loved the jacuzzis though! I wish we'd been there on a Friday when they serve Sangria at the pool! (oh well, we'll just have to go back). In the evening they have fire pits around the pools that they light and it was really pretty and romantic. The grounds were really peaceful and tranquil. And even though the hotel was probably at low to moderate capacity - it feels like the type of place that even when it's full, it doesn't feel crowded. I noticed that another couple was checked into the room next to us, and there were people above them, but I never heard anyone at all when we were in our room. They serve free coffee in the morning at their little cafe and it was better than that your standard free hotel coffee. We walked by the lake, but didn't participate in any of the many lake activities. I also went for a run in the neighborhood in the morning and it's a really cute little community. We had a great time at the Lakehouse and kept saying we really wanted to bring friends back!
Tons of bugs. Couldn't use the beautiful balcony.
Loved the atmosphere. Calm by the lake. Family oriented! Felt like vacation! Music, bar, and s'mores by the pool! The lake and the boat rental our favorite part! Drinks at the pool bar a little pricey.
We loved the room, bed was really comfortable. Had a great nights sleep. The pool area is great. Cabanas, two pools, two jacuzzis, and two firepitts. Plenty of space. Staff was nice but not very knowledgeable. No one ever went out of their way to help if there was a problem.
The room was smaller than I expected. The layout of the room was also weird
Great staff, truly care about you...my husband was having surgery and they wanted to make sure he had everything he needed to be comtorable and have a room on the first floor and they also upgraded us to a room that was right on the lake free of charge:) amazing beds, showers, true spa like feel The only thing that bothers me is that you can't check in until 4 and you have to check out by 11
Room was spacious, had a kitchen area with fridge and microwave. Free breakfast was more then expected...waffles, yogurts muffins, cereal, great drink selection Rooms outdated and few maintenance issues
This is ridiculous, TV doesn't work, Heater doesn't work it was 40 degree outside and hair dryer doesn't work. Room number 230 Never again
Location and price After staying here for many years every yeaar it gets a little worse. Its finally at the point its worth a couple more dollars to stay somewhere else
Nothing Room was dirty, hair in shower, bed uncomfortable, shower head shook, rug torn, stains on everything.
Close to Legoland, SeaWorld and the beach. The business area is too noisy. It would be better to have a door so people using the business area are not disturbed. The wifi kept disconnecting. From the two computers in the business area, one did not have Internet access. This was the only complaint I have. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.
Not good, on the first day we had problem with the shower and on the second day it was the aircon inside the room....
There was nothing i liked only the room suite size if they were to upgrade n fix them up. First off all its not clean the refrigerator had nasty smell. Ac in rooms dont work! The wiifii is terrible got better service standing outside n getting motel 6 way better wifi. But the worst thing of all is rooms have roaches in bathroom. 2nd nite there switched a total of 3 rooms! Manager didnt really care never once apologized just offered 20%. Made it seem like i was lying never again id stay there.
The location was pretty good for distance from work, but when the iron is locked to a broken iron board, may not be too nice. The staff was very courteous. Fitness room 7am-10pm (no 24hr), broken iron board and not able to use the full board, loud, Internet was real bad.
I liked everything staff was really friendly everything was clean and breakfast was good That I couldn't stay longer
I'm so disappointed
Got two beds. Separate rooms and TVs in both rooms! So someone can stay in the main room and watch tv while the kids slept. There's a microwave and sink, so it was great for kids and heating food. Would stay there again. People might complain the rooms were small, but I like the functionality of having two rooms, a kitchen sink and a microwave.
not much for what we paid very bad room smell TV broken & front-desk person pretended not to hear me when I complained dirty surroundings, especially behind the elevator airconditioners different in each room wifi difficult to access dirty corridors disorganized breakfast no front-desk help after 11am you had to go to reception if you needed anything forgot my nightie & no return call; effort to get it back to me surroundings disheveled; huge brown leaf over the beautiful fig tree lagoon water near pool was mossy green curtain broken on one end curtains did not close to darken room; we had to clip with a hair clip window in living room broken safe was broken
The breakfasts were good. My family and I enjoyed the pancakes, cinnamon rolls and omelets. Front counter staff were friendly and efficient. They made us feel welcome. The amenities available were up to par. I normally like our stays at Holiday Inn Express Hotels, however the rooms at this location were dirty. The carpet in our room was not vacuumed and the linen appeared unkept. There was trash under the kitchenette sink and in the bathroom when we first checked in.
PROPRETY OF THE HOTEL THE LOCATION IS NOT AFFORDABLE IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CAR
Soft and Hard Pillows, Fridge, Microwave, Kuerig Coffee Maker, Swipeless Door Access Cards Sink drained very slowly.
Nothing!!!!!! The rooms were filthy and the coffee in the coffee maker was left in for who knows how long. Gum on carpet. Nails and holes in the wall. Was afraid to sit on the toilet. The buffet breakfast was cold crap and leftover eggs and potatoes that looked like it was dug out of the dumpster. A soccer team kept us awake all night and tore signs off the doors and wiring. I felt like I was on skid row.
very close to the beach
Large connecting rooms at a good rate - ideal for extended families. Refrigerator and mirowave in rooms. Breakfast reasonable selection of food served in an area with seating. Large car park. Supermarket and shopping complex opposite hotel. Limited choice of restaurants locally.
more than expected
Room clean and well equipped. Appreciate keeping pet in room in kennel with us. Close to everything. Appreciate "extra pillows". Continental breakfast very good. Coffee outstanding! No. Very positive experience.
We like the breakfast.. not bad at all.. Yes, a bad smell inside the room ... I guest the carpet ...
Location, breakfast, pool were all things I was looking forward to and happy with once we arrived. The staff is friendly and helpful, but I think they're sometimes overwhelmed with the crowds. It's not their fault, they do a great job, but when there are 30-40 people waiting in line at breakfast, I imagine it can be a lot. The front desk folks seemed a little less friendly than I'm used to, but again, maybe it's just the crowds for Legoland that burns them out. It's a lot of people with kids.
Continental breakfast was good. A rollaway bed will coast you extra.
Loved everything about the hotel in regards to comfort, friendly staff, location, amenities, breakfast. All of the guest room doors SLAMMED. HARD. And since no one in this day and age cares about respecting other peoples' sleeping schedules, it was very loud all night. My 4 year old and I had a very hard time sleeping with all the slamming doors. Did I mention that the doors were slamming ALL NIGHT?!?!!
Can't beat the location.
The location across the street from the beach, near Carlsbad Village, and Legoland was great. Nice size rooms. The Rec room, in-room DVD players, and DVD library are great for families. Free parking, wifi, and breakfast. Tub and shower tile a little dated. The beds and bedding were not as comfortable as other hotels.
The property overall is quite noisy from the inside guest traffic not outside street traffic. Whenever closeby guests move around, take showers or walk outside the rooms, we heard pretty much everything. It seems the property us quite old and does not have guest noise cancellation of any form. Thank you.
Location. Large rooms. Nice amenities. Cockroaches in bathrooms by pool area. Should provide easier access to beach towels.
Families with screaming kids at breakfast. Did not matter if it was 6am or 8am. Should have adult only seating area at breakfast.
Location, value, friendly staff Automatic lights that can't be turned off. Woke me and my kids up repeatedly. Called down to the front desk and they said they could send an engineer up, but my kids were already asleep in the living room. Other than this, great hotel.
Clean and comfort. I need some bottle of water in the room which I can buy directly instead of go down to buy it.
Staff that checks us in and out were just dolls. Really sweet. Very receptive to my children. Rooms were extremely clean. Breakfast was great. Always replenished. Omelets cereal waffles fresh fruit potatoes toast muffins not from the supermarket. Cookies juices milk coffee hot chocolate chicjen sausage bagels lots of different spreads for the breads and waffles. Oatmeal cottage cheese. And it was a Monday! Weekdays at most hotels serve basic pastry utems cereal and toast. They save the restaurant style for weekends only. It was quiet on my 2nd floor. The small room they have filled with grocery items was convenient. They offer free newspapers a treasure box for kids to Rumsfeld through. A treat for the children. The eating area is very nice. Not a bunch of wooden tables. Nice cushioned seats. Exercise room was clean and well lit. Parking was easy to access. Pool seems small pool area as well. 4pm check in. I usually go to hotels that are 1-3pm check in. Check out is noon. So, that's not giving me s full 24hr stay. A 20hr stay.
Jacuzzi was cloudy with a beautiful green fungus color.
The room, the breakfast, the staff. card key didn't work at the two back doors.
Clean room, we'll lit, quite location. The housekeepers/laundry staff were working hard, definitely making the place clean. Parking is horrible for anything larger than a compact car. Not the easiest place to park a full size chevy suv. The beds....well at least they were clean. Comfort was non existing. I've had better sleep after a pot of coffee, but what was even worse than the bed was the response I received from the staff at the front desk when I brought it up. It was almost as if a requirement to work the front desk was to have a "I'm better than you" attitude. Very dry and callous demeanor.
Great customer service from beginning to end. We booked several rooms along with a conference room and the staff were all helpful to us. Complimentary breakfast was good and had variety. Bed was comfortable and amenities were plenty. Several fast food places right next door. Would definitely stay again.
All the amenities, breakfast Bath towels were little thin
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Close to everything, we walked just about everywhere we were looking to go, no problem. Solid stay for the money especially. The immediate surrounding area is a little shady, a bit of a beat up motel 6 and a trailer park type area, but it wasn't a problem and barely noticed it was there. Only other small negative I can think of is the shower didn't drain very well, but I think I just seem to get those rooms.
I always love their breakfast. Coffee was better than I make at home. I love the dark wood furniture, nice room lighting. Business/homey Maybe a bit bigger -plus infers a suite.
The staff, facilities, and breakfast were all great. The room was clean, had an updated look, and very comfortable beds. The bathroom was nice and spacious, too.
Your facilities were absolutely perfect for my needs. My family was there visiting my son who is a U.S. marine. It was so conveniant to his location and your facilities were clean helpful and absolutely beautiful. Thank you for a great experience with our family. There was nothing about your facilities that I didn't like. It was a wonderful place to stay and fit my needs perfectly. Thank you.
A great location for or plans in Oceanside. We will stay here again in the future.
Very nice room with good amenities. The breakfast was very good and the property was clean and well maintained. I would recommend this as a great place to spend a few days when on vacation or for business travels.
Close to the beach and south entrance to Camp Pendleton. Clean rooms and pool. Property well maintained. Small bathroom, walking paths in rooms and hallways.
Loved the breakfast especially the waffles. Free wi-fi and parking. Close to freeway. not much of a view. Hallway needed to be vacuumed as there was pretzel crumbs scattered in front of someone's hotel door.
The room was way to warm and stuffy. Air unit to low and blew against the bed. Unable to adjust the temperature to cool the room.
Conveniently located, good breakfast, new tub. The A/C was a challenge to get it to stay on. Some of the TV channels were fuzzy and I could not locate a guide. It was a bit noisy.
The bed was firm. Room had a refrigerator. Complimentary breakfast was adequate, coffee was good. Staff was cheerful and helpful. Thin walls, could hear the couple next door "having fun." Towels were thin and frayed, not soft. Carpet was frayed. Got cold during the night, and there were no extra blankets in the room. Door to the outside was left open, which is a safety risk for me.
Staff was great and accommodating.
Location, close to everything and right off the freeway Old, musty, run down with prehistoric bathroom. Breakfast makes hospital meals look 5 star. There are much better bang for your buck hotels in the area.
The staff was nice and the air conditioning in the room was nice. The free breakfast was ok. Free parking was nice. The room smelt like cigarette smoke every time walking into it. They did not have movie selections for the TV.
Location Complimentary breakfast Maid service Price (Only $60!!) Swimming pool None
A mile from the beach, ten minutes from Legoland and right next to a gas station and Fresh and Easy. It was perfect for us. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The floors weren't that clean. My daughter is crawling and her legs were dirty from being on the floor. Also, the door lets in a ton of light as did the patio door. I love that the building was well lit, but the rooms didn't shield a lot of that light well.
Very nice manager Comfortable room and bed
There was a big roach in my room . Front desk manager was not cooperative . Over all very vary bad
The friendly staff made my stay excellent. They were courteous and nice when I arrived, and when I left they sent me on my way with a water bottle and a snack for the road. The room was relatively comfortable, felt clean, and in general had everything I wanted. the curtains were ugly
THE WORST! Best western charged me for two days when my hotel check in/ check out was within a 12 hour period. Management (cipriano) was extremely rude, using offensive language when trying to get a refund. The A/C didn't work and when I called the front desk they read me the instructions but would not fix the issue. Toilet smelled and there was hair in the shower from previous guests. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
Nothing at all. I won't be returning. EVER! I was given the wrong room. Paid for a king suite. Because I'm 6'6" tall I need a king. I was told the room I had to stay in, which had a queen and bunk beds for some reason..lead to getting 4 hours of rough sleep. I had high expectations after upgrading and paying for a King Suite. Very disappointed. Won't be returning. I asked the girl from escondido at the front desk to get me into ANY other room that had a king bed and she did nothing to accommodate my needs(and what I was just upcharged for) .and blamed everything that was a problem against online updates that supposedly had not yet been completed. I eventually got tired of the bickering of the girl working the lobby claiming nothing was Her fault and everything was out of her control..so to avoid being any later to my appointment which I was already going to be late for..I decided to march back up to the sub par room and go on with my night. D-
Easy access to the sites. Not noisy at all.
I liked the location.
Rooms were remodeled which was a nice surprise. Included a mini fridge and microwave in addition to a decent sized flat screen TV. Very clean. Great breakfast - pastries, Belgian waffles, fruit, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, etc. hot tub and pool were nice and clean. Very easy access to the freeway and close to grocery stores and restaurants. Bed linens were rough and pillows were not very comfortable to me. Wife was fine with them. The outside of the hotel is old and the construction in the lobby area made dining difficult. But for the price, was the best in class for the area. Really minor complaints.
Easy access from freeway, handy to an excellent choice of restaurants, shopping close-by and breakfast included. The waffles were quite good!!
Decor was nice Not clean Not well lit outside Dirty
We brought our Son and his family, there were 7 of us. The rooms were clean and in good condition. Not bad for the price. Would stay there again.
The staff were exceptionally nice and the breakfast was good.
Room was very clean and comfortable. Beds comfortable. Enough space, enough power outlets, good desk space. Convenient location. Breakfast was good. Next to highway.
Was Clean and quit. It is gated in so you feel safe.
Homie at the front desk was on point with his friendliness and professionalism. Wish I remembered his name to give him dem proper props. Pillow selection on each bed was a nice touch. Sometimes I bring my own pillow but when you get to choose from a batch of 17 pillows how can you miss? No liquor in the room prior to arrival. That's about it, really.
Friendly staff, nice bed and a good breakfast. Hotel was a little dated.
The only reason I reserved a room at this hotel was because it was the only hotel in the area that stated it had a suite available for this particular weekend. When you reserve and pay for a suite with two queen beds and a sofa pull out you should get two queen beds with a sofa pull out not whatever is available when you check in. The room I reserved and paid for in advance was classified as a suite but it only provided a queen bed with a queen pull out sofa. I would have been better of requesting a room with two queen beds or better yet staying at a different hotel. We had to make a bed out of the sofa cushions for my 6 year old daughter to sleep on.
Loved the location and the friendly staff. Nice clean and newly remodeled rooms. I wish they would include breakfast
Staff was very friendly and accomodating. had several problems with key card not working. Had to have front desk re-set it several times and trade in cards that were not working (inconvenience)
Loved the spa
Dirty Towels, dirty bed, and smell like 'near homeless person' Just location, nothing else worth to stay.
Helpful front desk clerk Breakfast never varied.
Homeless people are in the hallway to get soda from the vending machine. This is unsafe practice and the hallway door does not close.
close to Legoland enough I called the hotel a month before to arrange a two-bed room. The front desk said it's fine and did not mention any surcharge. However, later when we check in, the front desk asked us to pay a surcharge. It's waived later, but still annoying.
Location was great. Not too far off the freeway and great shopping centers near by. Staff made it very easy to check in but not friendly. Room smelt like weed when we first walked in. Closet door was broken so we couldn't use it. Beds where ok. I guess I got what I paid for. Glad I just stayed for one night.
Average hotel, nothing special No
The room was comfy and big enough for our needs. The breakfast was substantial and tasty. The location was excellent. We had a squeaky air conditioner in our room that was annoying and the hallway floors and stairwell were in need of cleaning. The pool was disappointingly small...
Location. And we always like a hotel that offers breakfast, it helps get your busy day started. Rooms were clean, the hallway carpets needed some work.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Location rooms very spacious The fact the i stayed for two nights first morning went to get breakfast and the manager asked for my name and room number before walking in the breakfast area. She only ask me. Later on i find out the she said i came from a different hotel. To get food
They charged my card three time and almost left me with NO MONEY. Honestly I would never stay there again They charged my card three time and almost left me with NO MONEY. Honestly I would never stay there again
Had 2 rooms, the second one had good air conditioning. Did not have good water pressure. Good parking. Easy to locate off a highway. The first room we occupied did not have a working air conditioning unit. Did have good water pressure in the shower.
Very attentive staff! Let us check in early because we had our dog in the car. Clean! Great shower : )
Very clean, everything is new Small bathroom, hard pillows
Convenient, economical, Privacy , ideal location for security of Vehicle and close to shopping centers and restuarants. There were no rest rooms available prior to checking in.
