Pros: We stayed in a Jurte for 3 nights and enjoyed everything: the spacious, beautiful and well equipped Jurte, the desert surrounding, the green oasis... very peaceful place that even offers star gazing at night. The staff is very nice and helpful, we felt super welcomed. There is a communal kitchen you can use after 13h and a pool in front to hang out. Taxi to the city center costs 5 USD and it’s well worth to enjoy the tranquility of the Glamping as San Pedro de Atacama is full of restaurants, shops and people.

Pros: Everything, the people, location and the view. It was a little far from the town and it gives the best isolated experience ever, when you woke up in the morning you find yourself surrounded by a stunning view, in the middle of huge hills, amazing sky with a deep blue, you felt like you are in another planet! Our Yurka room was fantastic, so modern, private toilet and excellent facilities and hot water, we were so impressed about the cleanest room, considering that you are in the middle of the desert. Livia and Marco are amazing hosts, extremely friendly, they provided us amazing tour tips and so cool local experiences. Our tours were so early so we couldn’t eat breakfast, so they kindly prepared a small snack for our tours. We will miss the amazing warm hospitality and kindness, for sure its one of our best experiences ever! Marco also runs deep sky tours and we really enjoyed it, we learnt so much about the galaxy, planets and then we had the chance to see the sky at night, explore stars and the moon! It was so cool and unforgettable experience. We are missing Pepe and Duke too!

Cons: When we booked, we expected to be lodged in one of the Yurtas in the main pictures, typical tents of the desert. It turns out we were staying in one of the tent you can see scrolling down the pictures, which are normal camping tent with mattresses and, for more than 30$ a night, we thought this was a bit pricey even for not-cheap-at-all Atacama. Host should make sure to differentiate between the Yurtas (big, permanent tents) and the regular camping tent. WiFi and hot water work only at times which, again, it’s kinda expected if you are in the middle of the desert, but this is not how it is advertised. We had a great time in Altos de Quitor, the location really is special.. but this is not the luxury resort it is advertised.

Cons: Our room was a little cold at night, so I mentioned to the staff and they provided us more blankets and an electrical heating, after that our room was much more warmer. They quickly responded our request with a warm smile and amazing assistance, thanks for that!

Cons: The hostal is located a little out of town and although there was a nice place to sit outside, there wasn't really the opportunity to meet fellow travellers. The payment process including an unfavorable exchange rate and the fact that we initially got the wrong amount of money back made us feel a little bit uncomfortable.

Cons: I had around 200 dollars stolen from my bag that I had left in our private room. Although the door was locked, the cleaning service comes in daily and stole my money. Unfortunately the rooms are not equipped with safe boxes and there are no security cameras. The owner didnt do much about it and just expressed pity about the situation. I wouldn't recommend this hotel as safety of personal belongings is very important for any traveler and you should feel safe leaving your belongings in your room. I also dont recommend the tour prices given there as they were very expensive and I found cheaper offers in the center.

Cons: The hotel and room felt slightly tired. Within the room there were multiple issues: 1. Bathroom door was damaged 2. Shower screen was damaged 3. Ceiling dirty with multiple squashed bugs (on arrival) 4. Loud fridge 5. Could hear other (optionally co-joined rooms) easily which kept us awake. This was not a reflection on the staff as the room was clean at all points.

Cons: No air conditioning in a room where temperatures in the afternoon well exceeded 85 degrees. To cool the room you had to sleep at night with the door OPEN to get some cross breeze. Pool nothing like the picture, shallow, narrow as there is an underwater ledge for presumably all sitting in a row. The bamboo umbrellas around the pool are at eye level height and one person, fortunately wearing glasses, had the bamboo hit right in the face. If you’re under 5 ft you should just be fine. Rattan outdoor chairs were rough and some lacked cushions. There was no hot water one morning at all so no showers all around. All this for close to US$400 a night is not acceptable. Based on this experience I’d probably avoid all NOi hotels if this is how they’re run.

Cons: The room was stuffy, hot at night and the portable fan was pitiful. The food in the restaurant could be better. Breakfast is good, but other meals only so so. Asked for a packed picnic lunch and got a slate slab with small pieces of cheese, ham, etc. god for a cocktail but impossible for picnics. In all San Pedro everything is run by tour operators providing day tours including meals. Individual travelers want to avoid the crowded times and places, do not seem to be welcome in San Pedro.

The cocktails and wine in the bar were very good and the staff very friendly and in particular Luis, who also served in the restaurant. We booked several of the hotel tours and the guides were all very knowledgeable.

Cons: We were disappointed by the food. Breakfast was mediocre: the hot dishes weren’t hot and the choice fairly limited. We had a barbecue buffet dinner one evening. The salads were good but the three different kinds of meat we tried were a bit tough. The best dish we had was a burger.

Rosario and her staff are lovely and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The manager will drive you into town and pick you back once a day or twice if she has the time. From the hostal one can easily reach the Atacameño fortress called Pukara de Quitor, It's a 15 minutes walk from the hotel and we highly recommend it. All in all the place is a bit Spartan but great value for money, and we would come back just for the views and Rosario's kindness.

Pros: We booked here last minute, after our previously organised place was uninhabitable. San Pedro is expensive. This place was very good value for money. It’s out of town, so you’d need a car, but that’s a bonus as it’s very quiet and homely. Also cheaper to self drive, rather than tours. The centre is 5 minutes by car. Very pleasant breakfast, including scrambled eggs. Kitchen with fridge, stove, hotplates, pans etc available whenever you need it, eating out here is expensive and very ordinary. There’s also a charcoal/ wood BBQ, several in fact. Better to buy food etc in Calama and self cater. Food shopping is very limited in San Pedro. Rosario the owner is always ready to help if needed. We’d stay here again if ever we returned. Thanks for a great stay Rosario.

Pros: This płace is simply amazing - it is a bit further from the center, but it is no problem at all, because Rosario, the owner drives you there with her car in couple of minutes if you ask. Also it is actually so beautiful to be outside the center - it is very peaceful and you can cherish views of volcanos from very atmospheric and cosy terraces. The place is very clean and pleasant. The staff is the nicest on earth! I recommend this place 1000000%! ♥️

Pros: These people were very good to us indeed. They sorted us out. We unfortunately had to move nearer to town. They helped us find somewhere to stay and drove us there. Before we left we wanted to visit Pukara de Quitor, the 12 century fortress, which is a 10 minute walk down the road. Because of the heavy rains the river crossing and road had been badly damage and the fortress site was closed. They drove us to the site and got us a private viewing for free before picking us up afterwards. They also made certain that the taxi which they booked for us arrived at our replacement accommodation. When we arrived at the accommodation quite late in the day they gave us, unasked for, a mini breakfast so we did not have to go to bed hungry. They are lovely people who go out of their way to look after you.

Cons: Hotel has 2 rooms with 4 beds. We tried both. One is simply horrible : very dark, the window is broken and doesn't close. The other one is slightly better (at least the window works), one additional night table brings more light. Both rooms face the car park. The worst are the heating and the noise insulation. There is only one small stove in the corridor to heat all the building, not only it is useless (rooms are VERY cold) but the fumes can be smelled in the rooms. Very very unhealthy. There is no noise insulation whatsoever you can hear the movement in the hotels and the neighbors. There was some music played from another hotel during the whole night that could be heard loud within the room. We did not sleep at all. Beds are not comfortable. We left to find another hotel after having tried 3 nights.

Cons: It was a 10 to 15 minute hot and dusty walk to the centre if you needed to go in the middle of the day. There was no air conditioning or fans in my room which became very hot during the day. It was cool at night. The view from my window was the secure parking area - with a dog which tended to bark at night. When I arrived the man at reception was friendly but did not speak English - a problem if you are reading this and don’t speak Spanish. There was not much tourist information offered but this is not a problem as there are dozens of tour agencies in Calle Caracoles where they speak multiple languages.

Cons: Messages not passed on from reception for our trips booked. Room was far too small. When we questioned the size we were told this was a standard room however, for the cost, this is ridiculous. That being said I think all the rooms are small. The bigger rooms basically mean you can walk round the bed which was impossible in the standard room. Also woke up with a sewing needle in my arm that had been left on the bedspread. Not ours!!!

Cons: Most of my complaints are centered around the room I had. So I would avoid rooms 1 or 2. They are right next to the lobby. If you come home after reception closes you can’t get in to that area and you have to call someone to come open the door. The room has a small window way up high so there is no way to air it out and get a breeze. And there is no covering inside or out so when the sun beats down in the room it is even worse. There are no hooks in the room to hang up your towel. There aren’t even trash cans and they will only let you throw paper in the lobby trash so you have to walk across the road to the other part to throw things out. I would not stay here again.
