The view it's really stunnig.. It is a very low level residence, the rooms are not very confortable and very very hot... additionally they charge for many additional thing without telling you, such as air conditioning (15 euro per day), the club card (4 euro per person per day)... We didn't even had the ac turned on and they charged it anyway... For the price you end up paying you can go in a much higher level hotel...
Fantastic position-on a clear day you can see Stromboli, the other Eolian islands, Sicily and across the bay, the lighthouse at night-I`m speechless, it`s like a fairytale, great staff-the ok team are enthusiastic & friendly, much better than ok, sweet, patient receptionist, smiling cleaners, simple accommodation with everything you need in the apartment-absolutely, superb value none
We stayed one night 16.7 and then Mrs. Thousand (from Booking.com) re- located us in another hotel Stella Marina. About the Calispera (the first hotel) I can say "if you want to hammer your brains and plish your nervous with sand papèr, then calispera is right choice". Everything was bad.
The place had it's own private beach, the views where amazing and the pool was great. The bed was dodgy (really soft), no fly screens and heaps of biting insects, the gas hot plates didn't work, the floors were dirty, and the shower was weird and had no pressure. The entertainment area was right near our bedroom window and around 10pm they started up with music and games to about 2am in the morning... Not plesant at all. Also it was not two rooms and it did not have a TV or WiFi.
Location Lack of charm
This brand new property left absolutely nothing to be desired, except for maybe a slightly better breakfast which was still decent by Italian standards. Great location in Tropea, 2 blocks away from the center of town. Beautiful pool, nice sized rooms with every amenity you could want. Free shuttle to the beach every 30 minutes. The only problem we had was that the wi-fi wasnt working properly, but the hotel is also only 2 months old so im sure they will have that taken care of soon.
The hotel looked lovely. Good location just what we wanted A lovely hotel but let down a bit by the staff. We asked for a couple of beers the didn't have a bottle opener at the Bar we asked for two glasses of wine they didn't have a bottle opener for that. The lad went to find one but came back after 15mins lifting his hands in the air saying cannot find one anywhere. The breakfast was very poor for a 4 star hotel. We thought at first that the hotel had just opened there was a man still putting beading silicone on the pool doors outside. But the staff seemed to have a lackey daisy attitude.
Hotel Tropis is new modern hotel, new of the city center and railway station. Service they provided to me was very nice. I'd like to recommend this hotel
The beautiful room Breakfast food, particularly the bread. Menu more suited to german clients.
central location - good breakfast - excellent 'mini-bar' - a full sized fridge full of local wines! noisy. they were extending the building during our stay and workers started at 0630 each morning. the central location meant that motor scooters could be heard until 0100 every night - we got little sleep - and it was exceptionally hot during our stay.
friendly staff, super-breakfast
We arrived a day early and stayed 2 nights. Wished it could have been 3. The staff was great. Served us a welcome glass of vino and snacks in the room. The breakfast was superb. Wifi and satellite TV en suite. The room was really fun, and very Italian with Michaelangeo murals. The locaton was right atn the edge of the old city center. Five minute walk from shopping, sea views, restaurants.
Villa Antica Tropea is perfectly located in the centre of Tropea. We had a beautiful room, with a wonderful painted ceiling and fantastic power shower in the bathroom. A wonderful breakfast was served every morning on the roof terrace. What made our stay so enjoyable though was the kindness and hospitality of our hosts Valentina and Giancarlo. We can't wait to return.
Carlos and Valentina and the staff were fantastic hosts, the breakfast here was the best we encountered. They were always giving us local produce to sample. They had the best almond biscuits ever. Having breakfast on the roof terrace was a treat looking out over the roof tops in the wonderful sunshine.
Charm, garden, friendliness of staff. Location to historic center of Tropea. The absolute willingness of the staff to be of service was way above and beyond anything that anyone could ever expect. The breakfast was a not to be missed experience! I truly loved it here and I will go out of my way to return. Calabrian hospitality at its best. Thank you to the staff for making this such a memorable experience.
The room was beautiful, from the fresco on the ceiling to the power shower in the bathroom. It was so central, right on the main street in Tropea and so accessible. No, everything was great.
The breakfast - it was out of this world!!! I have never been offered so much and such variety.
You could walk everywhere form the centrally located Villa Antica Tropea, which made it easy and delightful to roam and discover the town and beaches of Tropea. What a special place! Like other hotel operators we have encountered from bookings.com, Giancarlo had connections and recommendations for everything we needed, or wanted to do. From greeting us with a smile when we arrived hours late due to traffic delays, helping with bags and serving a large breakfast for European standards, to restaurant recommendations where we had a truly wonderful cheap meal, which was not always the case during our 6 weeks of travel. We picked this hotel because of the reviews we read of it on Bookings.com and we were not disappointed, we had an adequate picture of it and we will go back again No
The villa is a great choice for everyone who want quiet accomodation in recently rennovated historical building. We enjoyed breakfast in the garden and comfortable and stylish room. The location is perfect both for people with car and without. Hotel has it's own parking always with free spaces. 1 minute to get to the center by foot and 10 minutes to get to the beach. I and my wife were really pleased by kindness of manager named Manuela. All staff is very professional and friendly. We wish to come back to this lovely place
unbelievable value for price
cool little hotel, good breakfast and decent value.nice pool and it was fairly quiet when we were there (june). hotel offers umbrella & sun loungers at the beach for free. tropea is more than 1 km away. it is a good 30 mins walk and the beach(nice beach) is 10 mins walk away on the main road. the hotel offers a bus to both the beach(only 3 or 4 times a day) and tropea(only 3 times at night). so if u are without a car it can be a bit frustrating. still would recommend this place
Location is amazing, the staff is welcome, a lot of flowers and plants in the area of the hotel. The buses are going from hotel to nearest, very beautiful town Tropea and return, Also, to the hotel's beach. The apartments are not privacy enough, but it's ok if you have good and quiet neighbours
Friendly, helpful staff who were always on hand to provide any assistance. Spotlessly clean swimming pool with a well stocked bar alongside. Importantly the area is comfortable with sufficient sun lounger provision. Great sea-facing location with the beach and the resort centre at Tropea a brisk downhill walk away (a shuttle service provision at regular intervals for those less inclined / able.) The overall food choices were excellent and the waiting staff attentive and courteous. Thank you Stefani and Danny in particular for your guidance through the various menus. An excellent base for a family holiday and a great place to catch up on all that reading... No an excellent value for money choice.
Large room, effective air conditioning, nice pool A bit of a trek to the beach and to Tropea, although the hotel does run a shuttle bus to both
The staff service and food were excellent The beach was a little to far to walk
The location was ideal. Just a short drive to the beach and to Tropea. The beds were not soft enough.
Excellent and pleasant installations, clean and confortable. Good breakfast and friendly and helpful staff. A little bit far from the beach and the city center, but not a problem at all if you have a car.
elegant and completely devoid of american tourists
Very friendly and efficiently staff Excellent pool Fine residence with all you need in the kitchen Large balcony with very nice views Quiet suroundings Private beach with sun chairs shuttle bus to town and beach -
The staff were very helpful and the setting was lovely. We loved the plants and trees. The swimming pool area was beautiful. The bed was too hard
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. It is very close to the railway station and to the beach. The prices in their small supermarket were not very expensive for italian standards. We would definetly go back there. The beds were a bit hard and there are some mosquitos at night. Unfortunately we found out only after two nights of bad sleep that they provide the mosquito killer machines as long as you buy the liquid for it.
The hotel staff were so polite and accomadating and one night drove us to a hotel and also picked us up afterwards and drove us back to the hotel. The complex as a whole is spotlessly clean and beautifully green and lushious and is just a short walk away from the great and vast vaticano beach!
The staff was fantastic and very helpful. They made our stay very comfortable and the leve of service was impeccable.
beautiful view The shower was very narrow and no water pressure
Everything but the beds, they were hard as rock. But the friendliness of the staff and the excellent breakfast and supper more than made up for the restless night.
the service, environment, facilities all were very good.
Very kind and helpful staff! We truly felt welcome. Excellent breakfast. Lovely surroundings with banana trees and palms etc. Peaceful. The beds had been changed, we slept well. Nice little train in walking distance to take to Tropea and back (we had no car).
The staff was very great. There was a very nice pool and the hotel had a direct acces to the beach. It was also very close to a little fisher village where we had the best meal of our entire stay in italy. (Very nice sea food, fish and pasta !) The only thing we didnt like about this hotel was that the bed was to hard for us. The matress was as hard as rock.
Although traveling solo, I was given a large room with a very nice view of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Dinner and breakfast (full pensione) were quite respectable. Hotel provides a public computer for free use. If you're a foreigner, driving alone, you might want to invest in a gps system (not terribly expensive, but very helpful) to find the hotel.
wonderful with fabulous views of calabrian coastline. Also some great restaurants within walking distance. Highly recommended. Hotel only about 7 years old with great service and staff and very reasonable prices. None
location, helfulness of hotel staff
The wonderful staff, beautiful panaromic views, cleanliness, regional food, and beautiful music
Nice beach, quite place. Poor selection on buffet breakfast.
the room was nice, very good air con. lovely roof terrace, nice breakfast. very central. no hair dryer in the room and lots of steps
The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the center of the old town in Tropea and close to shops, restaurants and bars. A huge breakfast is served on a lovely rooftop terrace with views over the town to the sea. The hotel is in a fabulous old building and the rooms are beautifully furnished. The only drawback for some people might be that the hotel is on the third floor and there is no lift
Everything was fantastic - room, placement, staff and breakfast. Highly recomend to those who love authentic surroundings. Free wi-fi internet that worked in room was a plus.
Excellent breakfast. Impossible to find; Hotel is actually three flights up with no elevator. Bed extremely uncomfortable.
We liked everything: atmosphere, design, location, lunch, non intrusive, but very friendly staff, buildng itself If you do not want to wake up earlier the church bell could be annoying (we feel though that it just adds to experience, but not all people would agree)
