The first impression: the acces road full of pot holes .We hit the taxi’s roof and dropped the water bottle on our laps. We reported this issue in 2018, 2019.Zuana’s management do not want to fix 20 meters of its front road entrance why? Call the City!
Management listened but ignored complaints
My friends wanted to visit more of a resort-esque hotel during our Santa Marta trip, which isn't my typical vibe while traveling (I typically prefer more off-the-beaten path type accommodations). I reluctantly booked this hotel, but I was really pleasantly surprised. It doesn't have the commercial-resort feel of many resorts I've visited in the past in Mexico, Cuba, etc., and they offer some pretty awesome live entertainment and activities that are not cheesy and keep the costeño vibe. Our next flight was very late, so we checked out at noon and stayed in the pool area the entire day after our trip.
Cocktails could be cheaper, but they are expensive everywhere in Colombia. They do allow your own beverages in the pool area which is pretty amazing. There's not much going on in this area, but the hotel is SUPER well equipped with restaurants, bars, 2 phenomenal pool areas, unless you are here for multiple days, you will enjoy just staying at the hotel. There's an Olympia supermarket 5-minutes (walking) away, I'd suggest stocking up there to save some money on food and alchohol.
This is a very well-known resort. It has total beach access. Location is very convenient if you want the beach experience. Staff is very professional and friendly. The room was clean, had a comfortable bed and A/C
Breakfast was included but it wasn't really that great. They have an airport shuttle. I did not use it at my arrival because a friend picked me up, but when I asked about its schedule to return to the airport they told me I had to use a paid taxi service.
It had bowling, a good gym with gym classes most mornings. The suite was spacious and great facilities! The spa looked nice, so did the pools. Some of the staff were really friendly (some spoke English) and helpful. The restaurant had good options. Lots of security around the hotel so it felt very safe.
If you lie near the beach front; the amount of people that hassle you for selling their goods or just asking for money is insane. We moved our beds back towards the hotel after an hour of being there. Some of the staff speak English which was so great and the hotel offer English classes for their teams! Quote of few people didn’t speak English though. Thankfully my other half speaks Spanish (Argentine) but they sometimes struggled to understand his accent! It would have been useful to know about all the activities that went on. We went exploring on our first night which is why we found out about bowling, gym classes, spa prices (no price list!). We missed things like a games evening, water aerobics etc because we had no way of finding out about it. No brochures, leaflets in the rooms or at check in. That could really help them! They didn’t have a record of our booking through booking.com but they were very quick to sort us out and find us a room at the promised rate.
The hotel is well located on the coast, plenty of swimming pools spread about the property so always found a sun lounger .
Service friendly but a bit more relaxed than we are used to.
