The Crimson Orchid Inn is located inside a complex with safety control at the access, restaurant, cabanas and the availability of a structure where yoga can be performed. The hoist, Stephen, is friendly, gentle and full of good advices to enjoy nice excursions in the area. Beach is very close and with warm accessible waters. Room and bathroom are wide and clean. Breakfast is good!
Everything was great. I can't complain at all. I will certainly be taking another Trip.
The host seems a bit miserable and nosey but turns out to be a nice old guy
The roof top terrace/bar was lovely. No staff in attendance. Were told to use the bar and write down what we drank. We only used our own beverages. Breakfasts were satisfactory with the exception on the morning where brown beans on toast were served. Always had fresh fruit which we enjoyed. In the outer area of the grounds, where the casita’s were located there were lovely walking paths and the grounds were beautifully manicured. The beach area was clean. We enjoyed our time on the lounge chairs around the pool. The one restaurant had good food.
Far too remote, the roads to get there were atrocious with pot holes. Had we not rented a car we would have not been able to go anywhere. The owner of the Crimson Orchid, Steven, was willing to pick us up at the airport but would have charged $150.00 USD one way to do so. In the ad, it indicated that there was a fitness centre but all we seen was an empty yoga studio. Laundry services were also available but again for an extra fee. There was no lounging area for guests, there was a flat screen TV and 2 couches in his private home but were made aware that other than breakfast, that area was off limits. There are signs on the residence doors to indicate same. Breakfast was served at 0800, and only 0800. Therefore, no chance to sleep in and nothing available for ‘self service’. We found out about the majority of the activities off the property from people we met at the Inn, this was not indicated to us by the owner. Steven did offer to take us off site to a property where it seemed to us that he was interested in showing us property for purchase. On the greater property, there is a swing bar that is not manned and there was never a campfire to attend. There were no signs to inform guests when/where excursions were going to take place. Guests could go on a snorkeling tour with the bar operator for $125.00 a head. Waters directly off of the beach were very murky and not suitable for snorkeling. We ended up leaving this area one week early to see other parts of the country where there were activities and more people. In doing that, we did not get any refund on our second week even though there was only ever, 1 other couple who were guests there. We would not recommend this area to other tourists nor will we be going back.
the inn was fantastic - it had a great architecture and fit into the area well. Its a development community and the inn was built around 2012 or so (according to some research done - not the queen's residence that's for sure...). It has potential and charm to it. Esp the bridal room - its large. Just took a peek
I showed up a bit late (6pm) as I got really lost trying to find the place. Come in through Corozol, not any other way for the roads are rough around the area. Its flat, but the roads are dirt roads. The owner gave me crap when I showed up which really wasn't fair - I would have told him off, but his family was in. I think he was more concerned about his family visiting than his clients. So, he made me pay right away which was odd. Whatever. Then he said I could not go through the house I had to go around through the side of the house. Ok, whatever. I went out for the day and needed a drink of water badly. Went to the kitchen in the house and got yelled at, held back telling them to f-off... I paid good money to stay there and all I got was a bowl of granola and asking for water was painful! the breakfast sucked absolutely sucked. There was nothing to drink. The restaurant was ok, but nothing to write home about. The beach wasn't anything great neither. For all the money and driving, wasn't worth it. Needs some improvements in the area of - breakfast, greeting etc... don't run a B&B if you don't allow guest to at least serve themselves breakfast. Then comes the fact there was no soap nor shampoo, luckily I brought some. The place has potential, but it needs an overhaul on the personality side of things... customers pay good money for such a long journey, I think inn owners become complacent to that...
Steven the owner of hotel is a perfect man.He helped us so much.Arranged our transfer to chetumal. Also invited us to a christmas dinner which we had great experience of our lives. Many thanks for him.
