great hotel and location the staff were brilliant nice and clean hotel yeah a bit dated but still very comfortable
The room was lovely, however very outdated but beds were comfy, linen was clean. Hotel had lovely lounges that you could sit and enjoy looking over the bay. Breakfast was top class. Self service which meant you could eat as much or as little as suited you. The majority of staff were warm and welcoming. The hotel was nicely situated close to all amenities but still quiet.
JANE. The receptionist. This person was the first contact that we had on entering the hotel. Jane was more interested in telling us about her uncertain future at the hotel than listening to our requests. My partner is at present working out of the country and has been returning every 6weeks for a mini break at home. We enjoy spending quality time together and was looking forward to sharing a picnic that we had prepared earlier so we could take to our room. We like to celebrate our first day eating, drinking and generally getting to know each again. The hotel is in the receivership and the receivers had not renewed the drinks licence, so there were no licenced facilities on site where we could enjoy a nightcap then retire. We were however offered a voucher for 1 beverage each, this was either lager, house wine , soft drink it tea or coffee. No spirits were offered. When we asked JANE for some plates and cutlery to take too our room, she told us that she would have to go to the kitchen for said items and made it clear that we were expecting too much. When I asked for a spoon. JANES answered us by saying, you don't want much do you. We were made to feel very uncomfortable by JANE. The rest of the staff were more than welcoming considering their future is uncertain.
Great staff Bar was closed but free drink offered Would definitely return
Staff very polite.
Very old hotel that is in need of updating, but due to the situation the hotel finds itself in,hopefully a new buyer is found that will invest in the hotel, as the hotel is situated in a quiet but prime location.
Great position overlooking South Bay. Helpful staff. Good food for both dinner and breakfast. Comfortable beds in a spacious room with view of the bay. Lovely hot water in shower/bath. Issue with alcohol licence due to change of ownership very well dealt with. Dog friendly.
