9.6 Excellent
Pros: The small hotel is run by a very helpful, friendly and hard-working couple, who were able to speak very good English. We felt very welcomed the minute we stepped into the hotel. We came in a low-season and thus there were only a handful of guests present. We could almost have the onsen to our own. The onsen was great itself too, so is other facilities. The lobby area is neatly decorated and was a very nice and cozy spot to relax. Coffee was great too. As the hotel is located at the top of a small hill, the view to the town is also very nice. Highly recommended.
Cons: The location could be a little remote. We came with our rental car, and few minutes short drive from town on a up-hill path to the hotel is quite small and narrow. But it was ok as long as you drive carefully.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything, food was fantastic, staff were courteous and were able to speak some english. Place was clean and everything was perfectly well taken care off.
Cons: Location was just a little bit inaccessible without car. However everything else was perfect.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff thoughtful facilities like at home. Good open hot spring tub and stunning view on mountain top.
Cons: Road leading to hotel on top of mountain is not so good. Better to have road light and big signage for the hotel location
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The inside is pretty, very good customer service and onsen.
Cons: Hotel exterior looks rusty and non-traditional
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great room . Great view . Very helpful staff. Good clean onsen.
Cons: I chose to walk here from the station, it is a fair hike and a reasonable climb up the hill but the view from the location makes it worthwhile. Take a cab if you are not into walking. Checkout took a long time . Credit card machine wouldn't process my payment. Had to pay cash to complete checkout.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff are very helpful.
10.0 Excellent

The room is so comfortable and warm that you don’t want to leave. It is the highest quality place we have been to ever. Do not miss this experience.

Hotel Seira Shimanto - Shimanto - Building
3
8.3 Excellent (24 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located on the hill surrounded by rich greens where tou will see the great view of Shimanto River below your eyes. And you can enjoy local special surf and turf by authentic Japanese style. [5min walk to the canoe House]where you can ride the canoe or houseboat. A day visit spa also available.
7.5 Good
Pros: Staff were very nice, friendly and made us feel very welcome, picked us up from train station and helped us with maps and ideas on local walks along the river. Location is tremendous, stunningly views from our 3rd floor river view room, area very quiet, very few tourists when we were there, great for walking, canoeing and cycling up and down the river. Restaurant also very good, evening meal very tasty, we didn’t have breakfast.
Cons: Hotel room was large, triple bed western style room for the two of us, clean but shabby and very much overdue for a revamp, multiple carpet stains over most of the carpet area, sofa/ chair uncomfortable, bathroom very small given the size of the room and an awkward 2 steps up into the bathroom, if like me and need to use bathroom in middle of night be careful not to trip up in the dark. Would definitely stay again but not at top end prices, for us not great value for money, but there aren’t too many options if you want to travel to this part of Shikoku. If you are planing cycling or walking routes along the river be aware some of the old bridges across the river were washed away in the 2018 typhoons, and hadn’t been repaired when we were there.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - Comfortable room - Modern design of the building, Japanese design of the room - Nice public bath - Very good dinner at the restaurant - View on a river (although it was too foggy when we came)
Cons: - no shower in the room
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything else is great!
Cons: The bathroom is raised so you need to go one one step to use it. Almost fall from that.

2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: I can positively say that my stay was the worst and most uncomfortable experience. Whenever I have been traveling, even on the Camino I hardly ever had bad experiences with budget accommodation. I got my key, went upstairs and...opened the door to helll. My mum and my stepfather have been heavy smokers, but I have never experienced a place, that reeked so horribly of cold tobacco. It oozed from every bit of wallpaper, had taken hold of all the surfaces and has crept into the mattress to such an extent, that even the fresh sheets and the covers smelled of it....I nearly choked. „Okay,“ I thought, „let‘s open the window and try to get some fresh air....“ Good idea, I was surprisingly able to open the window and... no change. Slightly distressed I took the room information order opened it and saw THIS: The schedule for their porn channels. Well, it is a business hotel and obviously more oriented towards male customers, but when I saw the stains on the floor, my imagination just really kicked into gear. Please, DO NOT ASK! So on the website the public bath on the top floor actually looks quite nice so that I decided to take a relaxing bath first and then tackle the rest of the situation. I grabbed my clothes, went to the top floor and....the door for women was locked with a note that read something like this: You can only enter the female bath if you have a key that you can get at the reception. The door will close automatically behind you after entering. WHAT? I have never ever seen anything like this in a public bath, but in connection with the extra TV services it made unfortunately sense and was the most disgusting thing I could think of. I let your imagination take over at this point and not more details, though there are plenty. Perhaps one last thing, that really threw me. I thought I give it a shot and ask for another room. So I went to reception and hinted that the room „smelled a bit of smoke and I was not a smoker...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very new, clean desigbl, Books and info about surrounding, coffee bar.
Cons: Check into me only from 26.00 and no staff available before to even leave luggage.
6.3 Good
Pros: Very nice owner, great value breakfast, decent price.
Cons: Not clean enough especially for Japan’s standards. The onsen was dirty and the carpet and bedding has stains on them.
7.5 Good
Pros: Free bicycle Very good breakfast Very nice staff
Cons: There are some splotches on the room’s carpenter
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast is a steal so make sure you ask about it. It’s only 100 yen and completely worth it. The location is great. If you’re doing the Shikoku Pilgrimage I would recommend this place for a night or two. I would book the place again for the price.
Cons: The room has its share of stains on the floor and walls and a slight smoke smell but it wasn’t nearly as bad as some other reviews claimed.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast is cheap, it is worth it. The bathtub area is provided with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, body lotion and hair dryer.
Cons: The bathtub area is not clean.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I love the ping-pong room. We played all table games and TV game.
