The location is perfect, very clean rooms, very nice ambience and friendly stuff.
The doors are not sound proof and it can be a little noisier in the morning.
On the train from Bucharest to Sighisoara, twenty minutes before our arrival, I was busy searching for a way to get from the station to the hotel when I suddenly received a phone call from them: they would like to know when we would arrive so they could pick us up - surprising, since we had not requested a transfer. This is just one of many examples of the attention to details (also including the decor of the hotel) and the needs of the guest, we experienced from Irene and her staff while staying at this wonderful place. We usually do not dine in hotel restaurants, but this time we did two out of our three evenings there - the other restaurant we tried was way below their standards. The time just before Christmas turned out to be perfect for visiting Sighisoara and we had everything at out doorstep as well as a cosy and comfortable room to return to after our explorations of the town. Compared to other hotels we saw in and around the citadel, Casa Krauss is simply the best!
This is not a complaint, but a suggestion: we bought a Romenian sweet wine to bring home (haven't tried it yet), so know they do exist. It would be great if the restaurant could offer such wines by the class to complement their delicious deserts.
great staff, great location. Very interesting medieval building
I loved everything, from the room to the food, everything was great. The staff is great, from the waiters to the kitchen staff makes tasty food, diner plates, breakfast plates, you name it. The atmosphere is also a welcoming one and given by the staff also.
There is no single thing I can think of that I didn't like.
Everything! The location, the interior design, the quietness. The staff is perfect... they were always ready to please us, always smiling and highly polite. And the chef... is absolutely brilliant! He cooks a delicious meat (beef, lamb, pork)!
Nothing to say... I was very pleased to stay there.
Nested in the Medieval Citadel of Sighisoara, Casa Georgius Krauss is a UNESCO historic building from the XVI-th century, offering uniquely designed rooms and a restaurant with 2 terraces. Free WiFi is available in the public areas. This boutique-hotel was the house of chronicler and historian Georg Krauss and comprises individually designed rooms with design decorations, including original frescoes, mediaeval-style or solid wood furniture, hand carved decorations and stylish bathrooms. Each room is equipped with modern facilities, including a minibar, a flat-screen cable TV, a hairdryer and free toiletries. Some also have air-conditioning, and others come with a fireplace. The house maintains much of its historic structure, including warm decors with wooden elements, and a wooden staircase reaching the upper floors. A breakfast room and a bar with a smoking area are also available on site. Guests at Casa Georgius Krauss can enjoy Romanian or international dishes and relax on the covered or outdoor terraces. The dishes are prepared with local ingredients, after traditional or innovative recipes. You can pair your meals with carefully selected Romanian wines. The property is a 2-minute walk from the central square, and several shops, as well as historical landmarks, such as the Church from the Hill and the Clock Tower, can be reached within walking distance. Bicycles can be rented on site and a bus stop is 400 metres away.
