Yoshi the bar tender at the sports bar is an amazing bar tender. Hotel is close to everything in the area. They push too much with buying a time share "wait they don't call it time share". Just say ur not interested and they'll leave you alone.
Is beachfront but the beach is the marina so it's stinks like sewage and the water is brown not blue and full of boats.
Its on the beach, staff was extremly nice-amazing. The beds were hard as rocks. The food needed help!
Loved the beach low water current The suite upgrade was amazing Weather was perfect It would of been better if they had an all inclusive plan
Terrible: On the worst Experience EVER, Since we walked in and we checked in they asked for our passports Really!! The we get to the room that smelled HORRIBLE the lights did not work and latch was missing, The Beds where so hard, I think the floor was Better all the servers where so rude. NO ACTIVITY at the pool area the pools where so small plus if you needed to pay extra if you wanted a different beer and then to get a coffee at the lobby was 3 bucks really what part of all inclusive was I missing. I hated this Hotel it was the WORST EVER NEVER AGAIN. We also got food poison, and other people staying here at the REEF also got food poison. The food is not kept at the right temperatures and the service was HORRIBLE you would ask for your Drinks they either took forever or they would not come at all. At the food stations the cooks where always in a BAD MOOD. There beach was super dirty this was the only hotel that did not clean the sea weed. JUST THE WORST HOTEL EVER
the only good thing was the ice cream parlor and it's location was amazing so close to 5th Avenida! We walked to the little town of playa del Carmen and all it's shops!! The beach is always dirty with sea weeds, the food is horrible the staff are not attentive not greetifull. Bartenders are horrible and drinks suck! If you want to go and have diarrhea and vomiting for two days with you and your children all together go to this place! We were 9 In our party and 8 of us got sick!! And I heard from other quests that people in There party got sick also!! The restaurant is outdoor it's hot and humid and food is not kept at a good temperature so any dairy product or meat will be prone to bacteria very quickly. They do not have enough ice and do not keep food fresh! If they use beans tonight for dinner the left over is served for breakfast! It's so disgusting!! Would never stay at the reef playacar again! So many Mosquitos!!! Be prepared to get bitten and get food poising beach is terrible!!
My first time in Mexico and at an all inclusive. I really enjoyed the area and the feel of the resort. The separate restaurants had nice dinners and the buffet breakfast lunch and dinner was pretty good. The beach and the pool were very nice and the resort was located close enough to the downtown area that you could walk or take a cab for next to nothing. I would come back and would recommend this place to others. Our check in had some confusion based in the american websites that we had read and what actually was the case regarding her son and kid staying free. However they were pretty sympathetic and work out a very reasonable deal with her. They have some guys not he beach that r selling excursions and asking for money to hold your place that don't work for the resort and if you didn't know better then you think it's ok. They are a scam and they will take your money and refund you if you decide not to go. Beware or them!!
Beach is impeccable - best beach in playa. Pool area was beautiful. Got a great deal via kayak $125 incl tax per night all inclusive for two. Alcoholic beverages included and paddleboard free for 30 min. Located in gated community so beach was a bit exclusive - no one hassling you/ begging for money. Menu variety very generic, bad attempt at American dishes. We didn't even understand why. Food quality subpar - fruits weren't sweet, ceviche poorly done. Dinner was OK. Hotel would not allow me (parents staying at hotel) to access property without a playacar membership card (hotel is located on golf course/ in gated community) had the card thanks to my Airbnb host but was not allowed after 6pm to watch sunset with parents to celebrate their anniversary.
Nothing - The place was completely mediocre. The only good thing is that it is a beachfront hotel. The check in procedure was a nightmare. I flew in from spain and had done the reservation the night before. Upon arrival, they tell me that the reservation is not in the system because the person who takes care of reservations is on a holiday until tuesday! The man tells me that he'll put me in a provisional room. We walk there ( mind you Im carrying my whole kitesurfing equipment with me ) and as the bellman opens the door, we notice the room is occupied. So then we had to go back and I was put in another room for the night and then had to transfer the following day. My check out date was on Friday and I needed an extension until Sunday - I contact the lobby and they tell me they have no availability. While I was booking my room elsewhere I decided to look at their webpage and they did in fact have rooms available. Completely unprofessional people. Yes this is an all inclusive too, but the food is terrible. Breakfast and dinner tastes exactly the same.
The hotel had no reservation from booking.com and the last room they gave us was not good Personal, limpeza, animacion
Great location, Attentive staff and Cold AC. Cheap 2 star food service. If you don't ask for it you won't get it. This was my fifth visit to the Reef. Every year the overall food service has gotten progressively worse especially in the Italian Restaurant. Four years ago that restaurant had an excellent antipasto salad bar now it has the same salad bar as the main restaurant. The entrees youst to be very good to excellent and the house wine and champagne were surprisingly good, no more. We never went back to that restaurant after the first try, nothing special. The hamburgers at the snack bar are mixed with a filler that does not taste good. I couldn't eat it. The food in the main restaurant varies little from day to day. They use the cheapest meat available but prepare them well and in a tasty manner. Beef is rare but if you ask for it they will get you a steak. Years ago the Italian restaurant was NYC quality, the main restaurant had fresh squeezed orange juice for breakfast, champagne flowed all day, now you have to pay for it after 11 AM and the overall food service was much better. I have to admit I found something I like to eat at every meal and they served steaks after I asked for them. Our bathtub needed replacement, it was cracked on the bottom. Our TV was broken as well.
The entire layout is pleasant The internet service is only free at a certain area, does not available at my room.
The staff is amazing. They made sure our trip was fantastic. Resort is very well kept and clean. The food was wonderful, and fun theme's every other day.. If you want to be close to the beach, this would be the only flaw.. I did not mind taking the shuttle to the beach club (which by the way is amazing as well). The shuttle was on time every time, and went to the beach club and shopping area at 5th avenue
The food, service, entertainment, and employees were all very good. They are respectful, courteous, responsive, and friendly. They made our stay very welcoming and comfortable. We had a small ant problem which resulted in them getting into our luggage and clothing.
Wait staff, location, breakfasts, porches, relaxation, most definitely recommended! Low pressure showers, noisy neighborhood bar every night with the boom, boom
Great location on the beach, great ambiance Very hard bed. Food Was barely tolerable.
I liked the grounds, very tropical and well-kept. The food was very good, and the staff went out of their way to take care of me.
The verandah with hammocks and the separate bungalows were great, everything was just steps from the beach. Many palm trees around made you feel like you were in a somewhat remote area, yet you were only blocks from all the nightlife in Playa del Carmen. Security personnel were on the beach all the time to insure the resort chairs and grass huts (palapas) were available to the guests and to keep the resort private. I felt very safe all the time! There is a lack of instructional material that would help travellers visiting the hotel know what to do: ie: trade beach towels in each day at front desk for new ones, a menu in the room to help decide if you want to have lunch or dinner each day, whether there is take out food from the restaurant or whether food can be ordered at the bar and during what times, etc
Clean rooms, with good facilities. No TV or coffee machine, etc. beach, resturant and spa options were very good. Staff was excellent....and I mean across the board. Just amazing. Rooms, facilities, location, staff and secluded beach. I enjoyed it so much, already booked another trip in early 2017. The central location to Playa Del Carmen was especially appreciated.
Stayed two nights with my boyfriend and we loved this place. We tend to avoid the mega resort hotels so this was perfect. Took advantage of the half board, the food was good, not anything that stood out but appreciated. The drinks were about $5 USD which is ok, wish happy hour were longer. Tell them to make the margaritas strong :) The location was great! Loved being right on the beach and also able to walk quinta avenida in the evenings. All the staff was incredibly friendly, always trying to help. We did not have issues with noise at all. In fact I thought the music could have been a bit louder at the pool. I brought my own speaker to the beach for music but tried not to play it too loudly.
Location! Nice budget bungalow style beach resort. Food at dinner was very good! No refrigerator! Air conditioning was not strong enough. Safe was too small. Sand everywhere in your bungalow...
great location, definitely the best beach around, took a walk on the beach to compare other beaches and hotels, Mahekal has definitely the best beach beachbar was missing,
comfort is basic but fair
Nice place right on the beach with a very friendly staff. Many of the people had been coming there for years and we can understand why. If you like the full service, all-inclusive, amenities out the wazoo, pamper me till I pop type of service then this is NOT the place for you. If you do like a casual, comfortable, quiet, intimate surroundings that are on the beach, but a short walk to downtown shopping and partying, then this is a great place. Nothing against the hotel, we knew what we were booking. We wished we had brought a laptop and movies for those nights when we decided to hang in the room so we would have had something to watch and chill out too.
The location (being right on the ocean and blocks away from 5th avenue), the price, having 2 meals included (which I would recommend switching your meals to breakfast and lunch so that you can go out to 5th avenue for dinner), the friendly staff, the disconnected tone of the property (no TV, no radio, no phone) which I wasn't aware of until we arrived but was very pleased with. Some feedback mentioned the beds being hard, but I never slept better, other feedback mentioned the food not being good, but I disagree, the breakfast included a full buffet of fresh fruit, breads and cereals but you can also order eggs, pancakes, french toast, etc. Lunch was great becuase there was enough of a variety to choose from(mexican, salads, sandwiches, etc) Quite a few mosquitos in the room, but I guess it's expected haivng the windows open all the time in a somewhat humid climate.
Friendliness of staff, unplugged atmosphere, clean beach and pools, decent food, proximity to town Uncomfortable bed- mattress needed replacing
The room was cleaned and made up very nicely each day. Different animals made out of the shower towels were placed on the bed each night. The food was not up to the usual standards for a hotel of this price range. Spent a lot of time pushing time share options....
The all inclusive nature was great, the staff were fantastic. The wine
Everything, was nice! access to the beach you could improve
Location - close to downtown Carmen Pool some staff Standard rooms are closets food was not impressive and repetitive low shelf alcohol for the price we had a lot better
Generally it was clean and the booze was of good quality. No beach, poor service, resort smells bad and the food is not very good
Location The rooms were musty smelling. By the end of the trip, everyone had runny noses from what was most likey mold causing the musty smell. Service was terrible, I understand nothing happens quickly in foreign countries, but they were not helpful and didn't care, unlike other all inclusive I've been to in Mexico. The AC in one room did not work, they didn't not want to move the people in that room to a new room with working AC and instead said "Oh, it's working, you have to wait until the sun goes down for it to cool off." Really? No beach side drink orders, you have to go to the bar yourself. Food left a lot to be desired. The Mexican restaurant did not have AC and when we requested to be moved closer to the patio to feel the breeze, we were told no. There were only three other parties in the entire restaurant! I would not recommend this resort.
location and the hotel staff nothing
Hotel staff was knowledgable about local activities and helpful. The booking.com site listed the hotel as having a shuttle service included in the price of the room. This in incorrect. The shuttle service is nothing more than the hotel calling a cab for you. You are responsible for all charges from the taxi. This was poor advertising on someones fault and I would not have booked this hotel if I had known that. Also some of the widows were nothing more than screens with wooden shutters. It meant the rooms had little sound insulation.
I like that every morning someone came in your room to clean it So every day was like arriving to a clean room. (Superior King) free wifi, AC I loved everything about my stay (1 week). The price was great. It's walking distance from the beach and 5th avenue. The staff is great. There is a little restaurant right across(casa tucán) the have the best guacamole. So happy the hotel is right in front. I would definitely book again!
I liked the hammocks outside the rooms The aircon didnt work, and the breakfast was a joke: you have to choose between a bowl of corn flakes or one piece of bread.
Simpel clean hotel for travelers on a budget. The staff is really friendly and willing to help. The hotels is located one block from the beach and 5th avenue. There is also a simple breakfast included in the price. One of the few hotels in real Mexican style in Playa During the weekend there was alot of noise due to the german bar behind the hotel. Nothing earplugs can't take.
The location was great. No pool, no in room tv, low shower water pressure and very small rooms
Location of the hotel was excellent for seeing the town centre, and there were plenty of restraunts and bars within easy walking distance. The included continental breakfast was very poor, without even any bread or toast.
great place for the price. good location. only a block or so from 5th (shops, bars, restaurants) about 3 blocks from beach and easy access to public transportation; bus station. reception staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. 2 guys (1 each day) overseeing continental breakfast were not friendly or cordial at all. which is not a huge deal, except if you are in the business of serving people, it is important to note.
Location and price - 24 hour internet stopped working at 11 pm - shower was awful..water dripped out...and that was after having it replaced 4 times - no water in the morning to shower or flush toilet - mosquitos and ants in the room and bed - loud music all night long - bed was like sleeping on cement block
The ambiance of the hotel, the location, it's a quiet place and Wifi access for free.... that's a great place for this price. I recommend it. bed is a little hard
Good location and pleasing decor - very tranquil. Helpful hotel staff. Free telephone and internet services. We had booked a room for three people - the third bed made it very cramped - there was nowhere to unpack or hang clothes or move around once we were all in. While it was absolutely fine for two people I wouldn't recommend it for three.
Although it wasn't the fault of the resort it was disappointing that the beach was covered in seaweed they could not keep up with cleaning it and it prevented us from enjoying the beach
I absolutely Looooooved this Hotel, it was the MOST beautiful Hotel i ever stayed in and the staff and food was impeccable......... Love Love Love Love Loved it... 100 stars..
Outstanding hotel, the staff were great. Had a small trouble at check in because I booked last minute but other than that everything was excellent.
This is the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed there. Everything is always top notch, the people remember you and they go above and beyond when it comes to service. Also, it never feels crowded. We will be going back yet again
Location entertainment staff spa attentiveness value , rooms felt secure Third world country ,phone didn't work at first ,water problems during rain at room door entrance ,room safe had to be fixed ,constantly asking for every meal and service for room number , prices for water sports were not fixed but negotiable
very nice and modern hotel, right on the main 5th av street, very close to the beach. the breakfast is in a great beach club and the food is great and also the atmospher where you can spend the whole day .we loved the nice rooftop Bar. other then that we had a great time in Playa del carmen!!!
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Beach two blocks away. Great location. Great breakfast. Mattress was too firm.
The staff super friendly, the location and the price were good. There was something wrong with the toilet and the whole room smelled like poop. We didn't ask to change rooms because we only needed to stay one night and i overheard the hotel was full for the night. If you're there to party like us, you probably won't mind the noise and loud music coming from the bars.
We absolutely loved Hotel El Punto which is located in the heart of Playa Del Carmen on 5th Avenue. We were mere steps away from it's bustling shops, restaurants, and nightlife. This boutique hotel is modern in design and the rate is unbeatable. The staff were also extremely accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was included a couple of blocks away at a hip restaurant on the beach. We highly recommend this hotel The wireless internet did not work in the rooms. You had to go downstairs to access the internet.
Hotel room was large and stylish. Front desk was friendly and helpful with suggestions of what to do during my stay. I would definately stay there again.
Fantastic location. Noise would only be a problem if you want to go to bed early. If you do then don´t stay anywhere on 5th Ave!. Hotel was fantastic, Clean, Bathrooms were very small however the hotel was spotlessly clean. If your looking for a great hotel thats close to all the action and has a great rooftop bar with a great atmosphere then I would defiantly recommend this fantastic hotel. Its perfect for short visits to a great place!...Loved it. If I have to pick anything I would say the size of the bathrooms..VERY!!!! small.....But its not a big fault really.
The hotel is phenomenal! What a great place to stay on 5th Avenue in Playa. I would recommend it to anyone. I was there for a business trip and stayed for two nights. The restaurant upstairs had great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The shopping is one step outside the door and seconds to the beach. I will stay her again!
It was in a good location. Quiet off the main drag but close enough to be close to the things most people want to check out. The pools and grounds were very attractive. The staff were not really all that...easy to approach or good communicators, seemed like the guests were a distraction. Also, they said they had Yoga, and they might have, but it was not something that was easy to set up or attend.
The room was nicely decorated and clean. The bed was memory foam and amazing - top quality. The staff was attentive and amazingly helpful. The grounds were beautiful and family friendly. But there were areas for adults only which was a plus. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the hotel.
The grounds were just beautiful and the room was very clean and nice. A peaceful oasis just a few steps from all he action on 5th. The staff was wonderful!
I was so surprised on how nice this hotel was. At the price I was expecting a lot less. The staff was very nice. I really like the separation between the family side and single/couples. the hotel has so much charm! Mexico. While I thought Playa was better than Cancun about ripping off the gringo, I was wrong. We got stopped leaving the hotel by the police for going the wrong way on an unmarked 'one way ' street. Officers wouldn't give us the ticket, just $50.00 cash
Nice compromise between authentic Mexican and a more modern hotel. Got tired of climbing the stairs. An elevator would have been nice.
Beds were hard and a little creeky Really could use a hot tub
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
Excellent customer service Everything is nice
the decor the toilets are not physically separated from the living and breathing spaces in the room. It is awkward to urinate with no door!
Great value for money, good service and nice treatment from the stuff far from city center, poor breakfast
This gem of a hotel surpassed my expectations! It was so charming and well kept. The staff was very friendly and told us the best places to eat, sight see and beaches! The continental breakfast was perfect! Would definitely come back again! The only thing was that the bed was a little too firm for my liking.
The room was clean and the staff was friendly. I'd stay here again!! Very close to 5th ave and a 5 min walk to the beach.
The staff were so nice and did everything they could to please us, the best service I've ever gotten. The location is amazing, just in the center of everything.
A very stylish place to stay. Close to the beach, warm and friendly staff, beautiful rooms. A very romantic atmosphere.
This hotel has a great, unique and expensive look but the prices are so much better for comparable hotels in less desireable locations. If we return to Playa we'll be staying at Kinbe. They kept the rooms very clean but the product they use smells very harsh.
convenient location, friendly staff
crazy humidity, us could not be lived
The staff was very friendly and helpful in orienting us to Playa, since it was our first trip. The hotel is conveniently located a half block from the beach, and they have an arrangement with the beach club at the corner, giving guests a 10% discount to use chairs, get food and drinks.
good staff, prety design of the hotel and the rooms, great location (almost on the beach and close to all the main things in playa), nice small out-door pool and not too expensive. I recomnd this hotel. no breakfast.
ease of location, friendliness of staff, clean and affordable
Professional staff, food at the restaurants and buffets always fresh. Food was delicious. Excellent location. Well maintained grounds. Very good entertainment. Beds were hard.
Great location, decent hotel, and hard to beat for the price. Staff work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms could be updated and more seating could be added in the bar area - at busy times before and after the shows there was quite a crowd and not many seats available.
The grounds were immaculate. The pool was very nice, and there were always chairs available during my stay, no matter what time of day it was. (I stayed between April 28 - May 5). My room was great as well, a nice walk-in shower, good AC, a mini-fridge stocked daily with water, soft drinks, and beer. The room was a ground level garden view room, which I highly recommend. The ground floor rooms have a nice large patio, compared to the upper floors which have a smaller balcony. The food was also impressive. I'm a vegetarian, so I sometimes worry about choices, but there was always plenty of options at the buffets. At the A La Carte restaurants there were fewer choices, but that's to be expected. I found that sometimes the service was a bit lacking. This is often rare when visiting Mexico, as in the past I have found that the staff are generally quite eager to please. There were some good staff members of course - we had all lovely servers at the buffets, and Mario, who cleaned our room, was excellent. However, we encountered a number of average and below-average employees during our stay, at the front desk there were a couple unpleasant people, as well as some of the bars throughout the resort. It seemed the bar staff gave service depending on how well they were being tipped. The beach is also a bit of a let down, brown water with a large amount of seaweed washing ashore - but hey, it's nature, you can't really complain. It was nice that the traveling salesmen who patrol the beaches were not allowed to come ashore. They waited at the water line and called out to come a see their products, but they didn't bother you while you sat on your lounge chair in the sand. On the other hand, I found the resort photographers fairly pushy. When relaxing at the pool they come around and force people to take photographs wearing sombreros, holding iguanas - that sort of thing. Maybe some people enjoy this, but I prefer to sit in silence and read my books and they were incredibly pushy, they wouldn't take no for an answer!
Pools were large, food was good. Staff was excellent. Beach had lots of weeds in water. Not sure if it was just a nature thing, but the staff cleaned it every day.
They have an amazing pool and the beach front was great. I was also visiting the Ocean Maya which is right next door and is 100% nicer overall except for the beach swimming area. Definitely would stay at the Ocean Maya next time. The grounds at Bluebay also were kept up nicely. The food was average and the drinks were good. The complex we were in was in very poor condition and there was only a deep soaker tub in our room that you used to shower but you had to step 2 feet up and a foot over to get into it. A true killer if you had too much to drink. If you are only looking for a cheep place to stay, this would be it. I'm not a seasoned traveler but I would only give this resort a 2-3 star rating based on 5 being the highest. I would not go back to this resort. Only a soaker tub that was absolutely crazy to get in and out of in order to shower. Forget about it if you had anything to drink because if you slipped getting in or out you'd crack you head open or throw your back out and I'm not an old person.
The rooms were clean. Every single staff there seemed to lack management and quality service. When escalated, manager did not take ownership and try to resolve issues.
Food was great and rooms were comfy The facility is just too big and hard to navigate at times. Stayed in Mexico many times and there are better places to stay for the same price.
The food is amazing many choices to try different foods. The staff is very friendly, helpful and over all did a great job. We were very impressed with how everyone went out of their way to make our time there memorable. There are not designated smoking areas and sometimes hard to avoid smoke. The shows at night are very fun and entertaining, but was very hot and smokey.
Steakhouse was excellent. The shuttle to Playa Del Carmen was only 65 pesos each way. Very convenient. The beach is terrible. I know this isn't the resorts fault, but unfortunately for them, the beach is part of the experience.
The staff was very friendly and cooperative. The facility was very clean. The staff always keeping everything clean and stocked. We enjoyed using the gym. Our room was very nice and more than what we expected. The only negative was the bed seemed broken. It had a dip on one side. At the end of the day we were so tired, we didn't say anything. but I'm sure they would have done something. Maybe staff should keep an eye on the state of the furniture. Also the water in the pool was very very cold. We couldn't stay in it. But the beach made up for it.
The food & facilities were better than expected for the price range of the hotel. however, this is described as a 5 star hotel and that it certainly is not. On the whole I was very satisfied and would return in the future. The beach area was the worse I have ever visited with sand bags to try and keep it in place.
Great staff - very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Nice bar and courtyard. Far enough back from main boulevard at the water to be quiet, but still close to many restaurants, the main square, etc. Good wifi. We stayed for two weeks, and were always treated well. Would stay here again. We agree about Oscar being awesome. Can't really think of anything. Oh, because our room was on the courtyard, there was sometimes some noise from down below at night, but it wasn't really bad.
Modern design. The location is terrible- just right the main motorway. If you are thinking to use it as a family hotel, forget about it. It take an ages to get to the central part of Playa del Carmen. Other think is breakfest- really plain and simple.
the hotel was so clean the bed was small enough
staff very friendly, good breakfast not really close to anything
the room was very clean and the situation of the hotel is very good. You are near the center of Playa del carmen but if you want to go to Xcaret, xelha, etc..., the location is perfect the breakfast is a little poor.
Staff and Hotel's atmosphere were very good! Nothing.
The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was good. The hotel was very clean and well-kept. This hotel is misleading with the "beach club" atmosphere in the description. It's a taxi ride to go anywhere, including the beach and the pool is barely bigger than a bathtub. Too far out of the way. Pay a few dollars more and stay downtown. It will save you on cab fare.
Nothing but internet service Breakfast
This was our second stay at Illusion Boutique Hotel. After a year away, it was nice to see familiar faces at the front desk as well as re-connect with the hotel Manager, Yesica. We found birthday and anniversary "surprises" in our room on more than one occasion and always had warm and friendly interaction with all staff members of the hotel.
Good breakfasts available from the hotel restaurant. Price was only $3.00US for anything on the menu. The room needed routine maintenance. Light bulbs out and not replaced, missing shower door, shower head was broken and not replaced until 3rd day. The view from the roof deck is awful due to construction going on all around. The staff is given little authority to make simple decisions. For example, there was a mix up about our breakfast charge. Instead of being able to correct it immediately the staff had to call the manager at home to get his ok. I can't imagine what would happen if there were a real emergency!
The location is half a block from the beach and half a block from 5th Avenue. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The AC was great. The shower was hot and had good water pressure. The beds were comfortable, and the housekeeping was great. As soon as we arrived Fanny was at the front desk and we saw her every evening. Her friendliness was so genuine and we loved seeing her and we came and went about our day. She even gave us a wedding gift as she knew we were moving to a resort to get married after our checkout at Illusion. We had the breakfast included package, which was a simple continental spread with an amazing fresh fruit bowl each day. We paid a couple extra dollars to order some eggs off the menu, which was great value. Our server each morning was Alberto who was always so friendly and attentive. Carlos, the concierge, was great at booking us some excursions as well as making some recommendations for a few restaurants to check out off the main strip. Would stay here again when returning to Playa del Carmen.
The outdoor space, the service and breakfast. The outdated room and damp smell in it.
Swimming pool is nice and breakfast though simple, is better than usual coffee+pastry. It includes eggs, toast and coffee/OJ. The hotel is 2 blocks from 5th Ave and 3 blocks from the beach. It can be a downside because on one night there was too much action with karaoke singing under our windows until 5 am in the morning. Water was shutting off for 30 min-1h several times each evening. Our fridge was not working and I had to beg to exchange it since we needed to store baby's milk. AC was broken as well but someone came to fix it fast enough. Similarly, I had to ask several times to have 3rd towel delivered to both rooms thou we paid a 3-person rate for each. Overall, customer service is lacking.
Overall it was very good. More english tv channels would be nice .
Stayed 4 days on our way to Cancun. Dreams P.A. was a great way to the start of a 10 day vacation. Resort was on the smaller size which we found was a plus. Everything was just a short walk away. Checkin and checkout were very quick and efficient. Did not linger to hear the sales pitch and it never came up again throughout our stay. We had booked a marina view room but were delighted when they gave us a free upgrade to an ocean view. Thought it was our luck day until they brought in the dolphins and released them into the waterway at the marina making our original room now a dolphin view.... The pools were very clean but cold and the beach small but lovely. There was plenty of shade to be found if needed. The bar service was great and so was the food especially at Portofinos the Italian restaurant. We did have a few problems with the room. There were several times whem the toilet would not flush and most of our stay where the shower would take an hour to drain before wife could take a her shower. The room itself was nice size and the bed was super comfy. The employees were always very pleasant and really strove to please in ever way. Kudos to the entertainment team who strove to keep the day moving along they really worked with all age groups. Overall this was a very relaxing and enjoyable resort with good food, good drinks and good people. Would love to go back someday.
This was a great place to stay. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome every day. The entertainment provided ranged from a rock concert on the beach to magicians and clowns. The food was good, the room was good, the scenery was good, and the beach was great. There is a reef in front of the hotel which made for great snorkeling. We walked to the marina and the shops about everyday. We walked down the beach to a couple other resorts to look around and quickly decided that the Dreams was the best by far. This resort is VERY kid friendly which makes it a hands down choice for families. We will definitely go back!
The hotel is old and the restaurant service is terrible , it takes 1 hr -and sometimes longer- to get your food .
The hotel is all right, it is really small and there is not enough events to keep you busy (they repeat a lot every day). The restaurants are just Ok, I bet you can get a better place with much better food for less money. The hotel pictures does not really show what you really get. We pay for ocean view and we get only a view of half of another apartment and half trees and some blue spots. The Italian restaurant is quite good but the other ones are just Ok. Be prepare to expend a lot of money because any event is really expensive. For the dolphins I really advise you to go to the Marine and do not use the one close to the hotel.
We started off on a bad note with this resort. Arriving on a Friday, the resort was ok, but we realized quickly that we should have booked an adults only (we have no kids). It just so happens that the resort offered us a promotion to switch to one of their adults only sister resorts (Silversands or Maroma). No strings attached, the offer was that we would stay the night at Dreams, then check out in the morning and be transfered to whichever resort we picked. In addition to this we would receive a voucher for 6 free nights at the resort. I had heard good things about Silversands, so we decided to transfer there. We kept our bags packed and just kinda ho-hummed around the remainder of the evening. Getting to our room we realized the bathroom door wouldn't shut, and the shower leaked. Thinking we wouldn't be there but one night, we just dealt with it. Saturday morning we woke up, had breakfast, and headed to the main lobby to check out. After waiting for 20 minutes to see a manager, they finally informed us that they couldn't transfer us to Silversands until Sunday, due to the fact that there were no rooms available. I then asked if they could transfer us to Maroma. The manager called but they were full. I asked why they offered the promotion in the first place and stated they would transfer us Saturday when they could not fullfill their promise? The manager only said, 'I understand you are upset, but we will transfer you in the morning.' I was extremely mad! Mostly because we couldn't unpack due to leaving and couldn't really relax because of the whole mess. Basically we lost 2 whole days of a relaxing vacation. :( After being informed we would be staying another night, we asked to have the bathroom door fixed. They had to pull off the upper retainer & part of the wall above the track for the door. It looked like a construction zone! Then our safe stopped working, and we had to call someone to come fix it as well. Food was mediocre at best. Staff (besides the front de...
Only one complaint, but I feel it's fairly significant... My time is valuable. Only half of the restaurants are open on any given night. This resulted in waiting an hour and a half to get seated for dinner or being stuck with going to a buffet. I get it, if you only open restaurants on select nights they can reduce costs by not having to staff a couple of them. Additionally, the delay in seating encourages people to go to the far less expensive buffet where the food was average at best. I've stayed at the Dreams in Puerto Vallarta and was ecstatic about my family's experience there. Upon check-in this time, we were told that our room wasn't ready and we'd need to wait about 20 minutes. We came back in 25 and were told it would be another half hour. We waited the additional 30 minutes and STILL had to wait another 15 minutes. The staff in Puerto Aventuras was INCREDIBLE just like in Puerto Vallarta, but managements decision to cut cost in staffing at the expense of a vacationer's anticipated free time is enough for me to book my next trip elsewhere. Also, one night between 5:30 and 6:30 ALL of the restaurants were closed and your only choice was an hour long wait for room service. The all-inclusive resorts in Mexico are bountiful. If your time is valuable to you, choose a resort other than Dreams.
Our stay was for a wedding we attended. The hotel was smaller, but still provided a lot for the size. All the restaurants are included with no reservations, but the food was good compared to great. Portofino was the best. The buffet was just eh ok. So, there's a bit of trade-off there. The room service was great and always came when quoted. There was no pressure to tip-but we did. There were more kids here than we preferred, but there were kids in our wedding party. It was a fantastic wedding venue location. Location was great overall. Premium liquors are served. Make sure to book a transfer because no taxis will go that far from Cancun. We dove the Cenotes, went to Tulum, and went to Xel Ha with ease. Overall, good time.
We just returned from staying at Dreams Puerto Aventuras. We LOVED the resort! ALL of the employees were so very nice/friendly/fun. It was a great experience. The entertainment staff is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! We had way too much fun! The food was great also. Lots of activities if you want to keep busy instead of just laying on the beach. All the employees were the best. Twice a day maid service (without asking), great Spa, shopping close by, never a dull moment!!! Our only complaint, which is not the fault of the resort, is the noise level late at night and into the early morning hours. The party people/late nighters liked to congregate right below our room on the steps leading out to the pool area and it was very hard to sleep. We got up and said something to some of them and called the desk a couple times. The lobby area was very noisy too during that time. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid and some people just don't realize there are people trying to sleep after midnight.
I expected more luxary from a Dreams resort and more entertainment choices. What they did have was good they just did not have enough variety for a 9day stay. Our room was adequate but it did smell strongly of mold and on our last day we actually saw mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. Staff were fun and friendly. Food choices very limited and portions very small. Others at the resort we met said that the Cancun and Cabo location Dreams are definitely better
Great resort. Friendly staff. Food quality is amazing(especially at Brazilian restaurant). Plenty of activities for kids. Professional night entertainment (not like most hotels that give you hotel staff shows). Pool was quite dirty especially later in the day. Beach was nice considering it is a Mexico coast line. Definitely will go back.
Wonderful place to stay-------------------Enjoyed it very much!! Staff was always helpful and friendly-------------
