What are the pros of staying at Uluwatu Made Guesthouse?
The family was all super friendly. Excellent property, great value. Friendly caring staff great value peaceful. Quiet place, comfortable bed, I had the best sleep there of my 2 months traveling. Rooms are clean and nice. Filtered water provided in the room. Good A/C. Good sized swimming pool. Great location, the staff was amazing and helpful, super comfortable beds, room had everything that you need, the whole area is clean and chill. Beautiful property and lovely family!! rooms were amazing with huge balcony and lovely view of pool. Very clean and well maintained would come again! Such amazing value. Quiet country residence with large swimming pool. Hosts were very helpful in arranging scooter, which is needed as no restaurants within walking distance. Overall, fantastic value in central Uluwatu peninsula. The garden is pretty and you had a nice view.
What are the cons of staying at Uluwatu Made Guesthouse?
Weird smell in the bathroom. Bedsheets were dirty. Only cold water at the shower. No reception, no card payment. During our two-night stay, we encountered a few issues that I believe could enhance the overall guest experience at your accommodations. The bathroom is very basic and not really nice but that is ok. The shower drain smelled badly, I think it needs to be cleaned. The smell was in the whole room if you don't close the bathroom door. The guesthouse is quite far away from Uluwatu and the busy streets. You cannot get anywhere without bike or car - but that is the price for the good sleep. No possibility of food in the homestay. My room was right next to a staircase and it was noisy when someone walked upstairs. Two noisy Russian guests playing loud music. Location is far away from everything and the internet didn’t work well. In middle of nowhere, mouldy walls, loud old AC, loud staff and guests party all night making noise. No soap in bathroom or anything for washing yourself. Need a deep cleaning, change the pillows they are with mold and smell disgusting. The bathroom needs an upgrade.. not hot water. The shower is cold no hot water and they didn't mention it on booking, when I tried to speak with the owner he didn't help to find a solution. The smell of the toilet was horrible and it goes all around the room, it smells like a public toilet. Can’t walk to anything close by but we knew this upon booking. The outside of the house was really beautiful and the location. Sheets and towels are clean but not smelling so nice. Children screaming from early on the morning, curtains aren’t dark enough too much light coming in. The AC very loud also. As in many places in Bali the outdoor tiles were very slippery when it rained. Very basic, smelt odd, mould on walls, no hot water even for shower. Service was hard to find at all- difficult to get advice or help about things like getting food- it’s the middle of nowhere so you need own transport- great for mopeds. Cannot buy any food there or get to any on foot. Could be better if it wasn’t so tired looking- stained sinks etc. After all the good reviews, I decided to stay at this guesthouse, and before I write this I have managed a backpackers, stayed in many hostels and homestays and know how to expect standard accommodation. I arrived with absolutely no one in sight, after calling and calling someone (assuming he is the guesthouse manager) he came strolling up the driveway without even a proper greeting. Almost as if he had no idea I was even arriving. He gave me no information about anything to do in the area and just took me to my room. After a long flight and a taxi and no food, a warm welcome and a smile would feel good. This was my first time travelling solo and my first time in Bali. Every time I went to reception he was not there. I had to ask other guests at the guesthouse, about places to go in the area and what beaches were close by. The pool is nice and the rooms very standard. My lamp didn't work. My towel rack broke as I tried to hang it up. The TV doesn't work. But it is close to the main area on a motorbike and the pool and garden are nice. That's about it. I'm really so confused about all the comments of 'friendly helpful staff'. Also there is no food or drink on site at all. And if you don't have a motorbike you are pretty much stuck because it's not an easy walk to town. It's very hilly and dark at night so I would not recommend walking at all. The communal fridge is filthy and the kitchen does not look welcoming at all. Also no hot water. So very very basic standard accommodation with NO helpful staff, that's if you can even find a staff member.
