The French onion soup!! Very friendly and accommodating people! Lovely old hotel with a modern twist. Very clean and comfortable.
Quiet off street room. Bicycles safely stored. Close to restaurants.
Free standing bath with hand held shower rose was not easy to use - bathroom was flooded. No TV as we were staying during the Tour de France . (Maybe we should have checked the facilities before booking)
Interesting extended and renovated building on sloping land once a vineyard, now a beautiful garden. Our 1st floor room had an extra door which gave direct access to the garden. Original dwellings were caves, partly incorporated into the house. Friendly and informative owner who presides at the breakfast table to look after her guests and provide helpful tips on which restaurants are good and which to avoid! We stayed two nights on way back from south and had restful day taking in a couple of chateaux. The gem of a chateau at Azay-le-Rideau is a short walk away.
The place has an wonderful garden. It is in a great location both for visiting the Loire Valley and the village. The host has some very good information about Loire Valley and it worths taking them into account. Also, she has very good recommandations about places to eat. The bed was very comfortable. The french breakfast was great and the lady very supportive with our late sleeper toddler and allowed us to have breakfast even at 11.
My room had no bathroom door. It was beautiful, designish and modern, but when real necessities appear it is not the best option. Also, there is no shower cream. Bring your own (it only has a small soap for hand washing). After 4 days there were some tiny spots of dust in the corners.
We stayed in Comfort Double Room - big room with additional entrance from the garden side, nice furniture, comfortable bed. Garden is quite nice as well and could be good place to relax after full day of chateau visiting (we were at rainy week, unfortunately, and could not enjoy it). Breakfast is classical "French breakfast" - bread, butter, croissants and other pastries and big choice of very tasty local jams. Host - Mauris is very kind and gave us lot of useful advises about local sights. Special thanks for recommendation to visit Château de l'Islette, which is real gem! Also note, that you should keep entrance tickets after visiting 1st chateau to get discount for visiting all other chateaus in that region. The hotel is located in very center of Azay-le-Rideau but very quiet. Walking distance to Chateau and restaurants - 3-5 min. Location is perfect for visiting many other chateaus in this region. There is free parking for 3-4 cars just on the territory of the hotel.
Bathroom design could be issue for couples with big childrens as there is no door between the room and shower. (Toilet is separated by door)
