Although the exterior of the hotel looks like a 1960s public housing block, the interiors are stylish and the mountain/forest views great. Pool and sauna complex very good and included in price. Needs better internet access and English-speaking television. Lift very slow to arrive.
Nothing booked out after one day Everything
The rooms are all equipped with kitchenettes. The Hotel has a childrensclub.
Efficient check-in. Room a bit basic - no tea/coffee facilities, limited tv channels, no bath. No reception staff after 2230.
Good staff, excellent breakfast, great shower! We were the youngest people there by about 20 years! Lots of elderly guests. Also no double duvet - 2 singles!
The superior rooms were very nice and the sauna/steam bath/relax areas were excellent. The location is good and staff were very friendly - great breakfast buffet! The lighting in the room was a bit dim (no reading lamps), the hotel does not have its own swimming pool (strange for a 4 star, but there is a public one close by)
The room was large and very comfortable. The furnishings were modern, neat and tidy. The ensuite was equally large and modern. The wellness centre was clean and spacious, well managed and equiped. Thorughly enjoyable. The restaurant was sadly found wanting and there was no swimming pool.
the staff were superb, the food was beautiful & well priced, the room was a good size,
Especially the smiling and committed staff. My 6 y.o. son got some small presents from the staff as well. My 6 y.o. son and I got a smokers room even we are non smokers. The smell of old smoke was terrible. I'm not sure whether we had the option to chose through booking.com's booking process? We did *not* complain to the hotel about this. They might have granted us another room in case we did.
The only good thing was that the room was quiet despite the hotels location at a crossroads and the breakfast was OK. A walk around the lake located across the road was pleasant. The evening person at the desk spoke no English (Der Hotel Englischer?) and was not particularly friendly. Despite the pretty picture on the booking.com site, the hotel is across the street from the small lake and is actually situated on a busy intersection - not really the country setting we expected. The no smoking rooms are located in a separate level where the halls were being renovated. It was like walking through a construction site to get to our room, with furniture in the halls which had been stripped of wallpaper. The fire extinguishers had also been removed for the renovation. (Smoking room hallways looked great though.) Our room was clean and quiet but the TV was beside the bed instead of in front. Not one English channel in this hotel. (Der Hotel Englischer?) An oversize armour at the foot of the bed left little free area in the room. Tiny recently renovated bathroom, but shower head had a kinked hose which had to be jury-rigged to allow water to flow. Then the shower was OK. Perhaps our experience would have been better had they not put us in the construction area. They didn't even warn us at the desk. I would have taken a smoking room in retrospect.
Location of the hotel / personel
the staff and the breakfast were amazing!! The hotel was clean and homelike. Hard to find the reception and in a deserted little town with nothing to do without driving! Overall though a wonderful relaxing weekend!
The hotel had a wonderfull garden, the athmosphere was very nice and feeling much at home
Nice size and (mostly) very clean family room. Good restaurant. Close to the National Park Lack of Parking. No Wi-Fi. Bottom of shower outer casing very dirty. Room cold on arrival. Breakfast adequate but not spectacular.
Run by close family who were very helpful and pleasant and moved me to a bigger room to use internet facility. Unfortunately it did not work. Food was also excellent and wide variety of choice and reasonable value. Would be good to provide wi-fi facility like most German hotels further south.
As a "travelers passing through" for one night we didn't have the time to see all that the hotel and its surroundings have to offer, but we got just what we needed. All I can say is that this is a very warm and welcoming place. The family is so happy to welcome you as guest in their hotel! And the food in their restaurant... mmmm... delicious!!!
The Hotel was located in a very quiet location and the owner was helpful. He went out of his way to point out different places to see in the region. I plan on staying here again..
Very friendly and good facilities
The owners were very friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The food was tasty and good value for the price. We appreciated having wireless broadband available to use in our room. The water pressure for the shower was minimal and there was no soap in the bathroom.
An excellent family run hotel on the outskirts of Bad Sachsa. About 1km from centre of town up very steep hills, so don't stay here if it's town centre location you are after (the owner did offer to pick us up in the town, though, if we wanted to go for a meal and a drink!). The location, though, is perfect for walkers and hikers with the forests so close by. Very friendly, immaculately clean. Highly recommended you get much more than value for money! Service was generally excellent, although on the Friday evening some friends of the hotelier turned up, and his professionalism in dealing with all his guests slipped (I waited about 30 minutes for a drink, and he completely forgot one order) They are fairly new to the hospitality trade and I hope that they can learn from this and ensure that all guests are looked after no matter what the circumstances.
Great location,excellent breakfast, friendly staff.
We were there only one night on our way home, but we used the great spa facilities. The hotel gave us the castle feeling we expected. A quick stroll in the area was also very cozy. Bathrobes would be nice in the room if you want to use the spa facilities.
Clean and friendly. Free parking. Good value for money = Big bang for the buck :)) Only + + + + + Perhaps invest in some type of WLAN ? No problem for me but may be for others...
